I believe Self has no issues with the bench guys shooting from deep on Drew and Baylor.

BINGO!! 100+

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 11:11 PM

Svi not feeding Diallo. He knows he won't see it again.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 11:09 PM

Vick in as well

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 11:08 PM

Self sending a message to the conference today by not going deep to his bench with 2 to go?

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 11:06 PM

@DCHawker agree with you on that!

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 11:03 PM

@DCHawker Self found his rotation for this game and went with it.

He has options. He seems to go with what's working for the game at hand.

And since Kansas only has one loss this season. I'm OK with his hamdeling of the bench.

JAMARI WITH THE BLOCK!!!

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:54 PM

@RockkChalkk not reaching. Pointing out good points.

Setting good screens and freeing up shooters or ball handlers is key to this offense.

Not all of basketball is quantifiable by stats.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:53 PM

Surprised they didn't call Hunter for traveling on that one.

Ok I'm done bagging on the refs.

For now

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:50 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 that's what I was seeing too.

It's like the refs anticipated a foul.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:49 PM

@DCHawker JT has set some great screens and played help D.mthings that don't show up on stat sheets or scored by PER.

He has given good mins. And his third foul?? BS call.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:47 PM

Where was the foul? Who was it on and why?

They traveled by both holding the ball at the same time.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:45 PM

@Bwag non that I've seen

No. The defender kicked at it though.

Ll with an up and under.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:34 PM

@DCHawker well Diallo speeds up our offense alright. Taking a shot the first time he touches it.

Kidding but it does seem that way at times.

He really needs to figure out the team concept.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:31 PM

Nice block.

Better spacing running the floor for an easy one.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:27 PM

What happened to our exterior offense?

i know they went man but dang we are just trying to drive the paint. Our knockouts are late if we have any.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:21 PM

Trying not to complain about officials but how was Perry getting hit on the arm on that dunk not a foul compared to all of Mason's?

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:02 PM

Nice finish by Devonte

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 10:01 PM

Guessing Bragg will be sitting a lot in the second after that

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:59 PM

@wissoxfan83 I'll go out on a limb and say he's not a Kansas fan.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:56 PM

@RockkChalkk did you not see his D against Irvine? Very solid.

So was his offense that game. He made a nice hook shot wth a man hanging on him as well.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:50 PM

@wissoxfan83 he's getting the media darling treatment.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:49 PM

Nice block diallo

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:47 PM

@Bwag not on Landon to stop their guards from dribbling past ours.

Out guards are not playing good stipple D at all today.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:36 PM

@wissoxfan83 it's like the Peanuts character PigPen always surrounded by a cloud of dust.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:35 PM

Who said on here that BG can't dribble?

Cause that drive and dish was nice

Love seeing the sun stream in over the crowd.

I saw a picture years ago I guess a framed poster, it was of AFH empty and just the sun light shining through the dust in the air into the floor.

If I would have known then that I'd never see it again I would have bought it.

Amazing!!

BINGO WAYNE!!!

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:25 PM

Does anyone know of Drew pulled his players into the tunnel during the pre game video?

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:23 PM

This is kinda fun to watch. Better than commercials and SEC ball

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:22 PM

I see Kansas!!!!

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:19 PM

@wissoxfan83 then a regional check in on the West coast before their games begin today.

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:17 PM

@wissoxfan83 Then a break to see what Duke is doing today

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:16 PM

Oh great commercials now!!!!

Chatting KU Baylor hoops here • Jan 02, 2016 09:16 PM

No here in Nebraska we are getting Rick Barmes trying to coach his way out of a wet paper sack. He's not very good at it.

C5 vs Rico Gathers • Jan 02, 2016 05:41 PM

I think Hunter gets the start. Lucas first off the bench unless it becomes a track meet.
If Traylor is indeed struggling with injuries than he may see a few minutes here and there.
Bragg and Diallo probably will get minutes as well today to see if they can defend against a talented player such as Gathers.

I will return the question @drgnslayr who of our C5 will Gathers struggle to defend?

There's a grave on our old ranch. But tied in it are a pair of Levi boot cut jeans. A dirty t-shirt, pair of socks a baseball hat and a pair of Justin ropers boots. Oh and a dog collar.

No body in said grave.

Was walking through some brush along a fence line when the ranch dog went on point. Before I could say anything we had both been sprayed by the biggest. Fattest smelliest skunk I've ever seen.

I walked about a mile back to the barn as the pickup sat and called home. Mom and dad both laughing brought tomato juice oatmeal and the hair clippers.

Dad shaved the dog down first, bald Austrailian Shepards are funny lookin, as mom packed the oatmeal on me and then sprayed me off and I got my head shaved. The dog and I both got a tomato juice bath as well.

Then I was left to go dog that grave and get rid of all the evidence of having a dog that wouldn't listen.

It's 2016 • Jan 02, 2016 02:25 PM

@wissoxfan83 Not only election years but those are also leap years.

Must be that one extra day of practice that pushes the guys just that much more???

@Crimsonorblue22 Would it be like comparing Xavier Henry vs Thomas Robinson?

Overall I think any kid that plays college ball has a dream of getting to the NBA and wants to improve their stock to do so. But those guys that get what "team" really is, be it OADs or 4 year guys are special to have.

Chemistry versus Talent • Dec 31, 2015 09:11 PM

@HighEliteMajor Chemistry is also built on trust. You ssid chemistry doesn't just happen. So there has to be a sense of trust built in practice to carry over to the real game itself.

I brought it up in another thread that even Cal tried to throw Skal out there and now he's benched. I mean Cal benching heralded freshman is almost unheard of. But why did he bench him if he is such a great talent? I haven't watched any KY ball so I can't say it was chemistry or not but I do know he wasn't getting it done.

I think that Diallo and Skal both succeeded in HS due to their size and speed. The college game is faster than they are and guys are bigger than who they played against. Anthony Davis struggled his rookie year in the NBA u ntil he got to the weight room and matured physically.

As to why only these two? Cause why not make it a choice and a discussion point?

Any good reference to C5? • Dec 31, 2015 07:51 PM

@pa_grape Also has the nickname of Inglorious Bastards

Chemistry versus Talent • Dec 31, 2015 07:35 PM

This has seemed to become a major topic on this board.

Play the most talented guys or play within the team aspect of the game have have great chemistry on the court?

There have been many many times Kansas has lost games to inferior talented teams, be it the regular season or in the tournament. In the tournament, one of the reasons, that teams like VCU, UNI, WSU have beaten Kansas besides "their super bowl" is they had better chemistry.

It wasn't about their players trying to increase their draft stock or drop in the draft rankings. They played as teams and they all had great chemistry.

Talent, Kansas has also lost to much greater talented teams as well. Kentucky, for instance. Anthony Davis was heads and shoulders above anyone KU had on the floor that night.

It's not just Kansas this happens too. Kentucky lost last year to Wisconsin. I'll ask, which team had better team chemistry and which team had better talent?

When you combine the two, it becomes deadly. Kansas in '08. Duke in 1991.

Don't think for a moment that Diallo and Bragg shouldn't get PT, But they must earn the trust of their teammates not only in game times, but in practice. BG is in that moment at times too, at the end of the first half the other night he made a bad pass and the ball went OB. On the in bounds play he was open, but Frank looked him off for a second, then only had LL to go to and well that wasn't pretty. It's trust. It's chemistry.

Hard work pays off in sports, coaches see it and reward it. Unless they don't have depth, then they go with what they got.

If you were KU MBB coach... • Dec 31, 2015 02:48 PM

I know a lot of other schools throw their freshman out there and let them play right away and through their growing pains.

The question is is it out of recruiting the next high level freshman or is it out of necessity?

Do they not have three other upper classmen that play the same position?

Do they have to play them due to graduation or injury? Or are they seeing what their young guys can do?

Would Skal be playing at Kansas this year if he were here and not Diallo? Would Disllo be playing at Kentucky if he was there?

I mean Calipari tried to play Skal and had to bench him. The coach who believes every freshman should play it seems.

So I will ask this as well. Who as a coach is better at player development historically. Self or Cslipari?
