How do we know this?
It works fine from my laptop but will not generate the captcha on the iPad...
I have the sports package so I get a lot of NBA games every day; I try to watch the ones involving KU players.
Oubre, McLemore and Black have all started or are currently starters for their teams.
More importantly, without Zach. Rush is now a starter...2 former KU players start for the same team...me likes!!!
Come on fellow Jayhawk fans...think positive. Coach Self has always been able to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat at the last minute and I don't see why it would be any different now.
Until Young makes the announcement nobody really knows for sure except for the word of a HS kid who, being from Norman, is probably an OU fan and probably laughing his a#$ off at the sports writers jumping ship. DeAndre Ayton was supposed to be 88% KU and 12% UK and where did he go? Arizona...are you kidding me? Arizona? It happens..
So, what is the worst that happens if Young goes to OU? Hopefully Senior Devonte is back which would be considerably better than OAD Young any day of the week and twice on Monday Night and Saturday prime time, and if not, we have Garret or Newman, not Seinfeld's Newman but Top-5-out-of-HS Newman, to run the point, or maybe another hidden gem Coach Self discovers.
Remember Deandre Ayton? He was 88% KU and 12% UK and he ended up at Arizona...
He is done with college basketball.
Hapenned 4years ago; likely a non-story st this time.
54% OU, 38% KU, link here.. ↗. FWIF, I really don't pay much attention to it.
Only a junior that graduates early or a senior that had to sit or red-shirt one year and can graduate would be eligible to play immediately and there are not many of those avaiable; all others would have to sit one year.
I hear and red about Keene quite a bit but I am not sold on how his game would translate from the lowly MAC to the Big 12 where players are much bigger and faster and he is only 5'9" 175 lbs. Ojeleye might be a better fit but apparently Kansas was a candidate before ↗and he picked SMU.
At this point, I would think that the main problem for Carlton is between his ears. He had the tools and now he has the body but his brain has not caught up yet.
Who ever wrote that really does not know much about it. It is highly unlikely to happen since most arenas are not designed to maximize noise.
There has been a couple of studies done by acoustic engineers and just a handful of arenas have the potential to be real loud and at the top of the list is AFH.
Here are some links.. link 1..., ↗, This one is from ESPN... ↗, and this one is from the NCAA itself... ↗
In comparison, the loudest NBA arena is Sacramento at 119.6 db and that is the record 23,500 fans broke at Rupp and then KU smashed the record with only 16,300 students which is not surprising since more people by extension means a bigger arena and a bigger place to fill with sound. Cameron Indoor stadium is much smaller and easier to get loud but it holds only 9,300 students. AFH is probably in the sweet spot between capacity and relatively small size. Any new arena that holds 16,300 fans would be considerably larger.
In short, it is unlikely, but not impossible, that the record will be broken anytime soon.
I believe all three, particularly Coach Williams and Coach rat face are wanting to win one more championship and retire while at the top. The academic scandal has not quite hit the fan at UNC yet but it will be in the near future and Coach Williams probably wants to be gone when that happens.
Don't forget that KU set a loudness record at Kentucky as well...From loudest arena (at the time) to quietest arena in 40 minutes of play. Drop microphone...
Coach Self seems pretty pleased with Devonte's play and understands that all the attention is on Frank and Devonte is not getting nearly what he deserved but his numbers are solid.
No question that Josh is a fast learner and remembers not make the same mistakes...No Ts lately.
Me three...
Thanks.
Is is on a podcast, press conference or game summary transcript?
You have all the KU links  ...do you have a link to that one?
Yep. Baylor has really good players but they also have Scott Drew, so advantage KU.
Here you go... ↗I bet Texas is regretting extending the contract just about now.
Agreed. I have always said that Shaka is a legend in his own mind and the entire Shaka myth is based in ONE win against KU. He is a good Mid-Major coach but not that good at the top level. With the players he has. Texas should be a top half or even a top 3 team in the conference.
RussRob was scorer in HS and changed his role to that of a facilitator at KU, and without him, KU does not win it all in '08. One of my favorite KU players of all time.
Talking about Texas teams...do yo think Texas fans are wishing they had Barnes on the sidelines instead of Smart?
Worst year under Barnes: 2012–13 , 16–18, 7–11 (7th)
Current year under Smart: 10–16, 4–9
With 3 home games left against KSU, KU and Baylor and 2 road games against TTU and WVU, chances are he goes at best 2 and 3 and more likely 1-4 or 0-5 and finishes with the worst record at TU since the early 80s. So much for rebuilding the program; I wonder if Texas backers are raising money for a buyout.
Sounds like Smart let his mouth write a check his coaching skill could not cover.
...because I live in the 21st Century?
When teams like Clemson with a 4-9 Conference and 14-11 overall record are in, a reasonable person would thing Tech. is a shoo-in...
Worst nightmare scenario for KU fans...Fran and Gotlieb calling KU's game for the National Title...luckily now they have two additional TV streams with teams partial to each school calling the game.
You are showing your age...they call them STDs nowadays.
Not at all. I believe that Young would be a better PG than Newman, but if Newman wants to play in the League it will likely be as PG. Remember Mario? he was turnover machine when he played PG as a freshman and Jeff Hawkins and Russ Rob played PG, He played some PG but at KU he was primarily a SG and dropped to the second round in the draft, after a great Junior year and a National Championship where he was the hero, but had to learn to be a PG to play in the League.
Hopefully tomorrow around this time, things will become clearer.
THE Ohio State makes all other schools look like pikers when it comes to sports snobbery or just plain snobbery...
I would think the NBA wants to see him play PG, he just does not have the build to play SG in the NBA...in college ? Yes, in the NBA? No.
I thought that Newman came to KU to become a PG since he is not tall enough to play SG in the NBA. I would be interested to know if someone knows what position he has been playing during practice as it would shed some light on where he will be playing next season.
You are not wrong. The salaries in the D-League are were small or nominal as I mentioned. There is a proposal to raise the salaries to something more reasonable but I am not sure how soon it will be implemented or if at all.
Many of the players are under NBA contracts and biding time until they improve enough to join the parent team, I believe Diallo is in this category, but most are there holding to a slim hope that they will play well enough to catch a scout's attention and get a shot. If you ever watch the games, the audience is in the hundreds at best so really not a money maker.
No question that the benefits a player get playing at KU, particularly the national exposure, greatly exceeds that of the D-League. Of course, a college player cannot be called to the NBA on a moments notice but those odds are not that good in the first place. I can understand leaving if there are assurances that a team will sign you to a contract and stash you in the D-League , like Alexander, but leaving to play in the D-League for that measly salary does not seem like the best option but then...hope springs eternal in the human breast - Alexander Pope on "Essay on Man."
Oh...but I hear you just fine, I just happen to disagree with you...respectfully, of course.
More importantly, how certain are we that Coach Self actually made that exact statement? There have been several recruits in the past that have made comments publicly about what coaches promised only to find out there were not true. Coach Self has always indicated that players have to earn playing time...just thinking aloud...
All is well that ends well - William Shakespeare
I was not citing Fran's diss of KU fans as part of the post but as pattern of disliking all things KU.
It is obvious to me and certainly to most posters in this forum that Fran does not like KU and a lot of his comments during broadcasts drip sarcasm and the dislike is very obvious, so any comment he makes has to be taken with a grain of salt and a fair amount of skepticism.
Again, I don't believe I am not the only one who feels this way or that this forum is an exception...essentially all KU related forums have ongoing threads on the subject and he has addressed the subject himself, so there must be some or a lot of truth on how we perceive his comments.
Frankly, Vitale's bombastic style is not my cup of tea but it was a very nice change of pace not to have Fran doing commentary at the game last evening. Just my opinion.
Yes, but...if Devonte wants to make it to the NBA he would have to play PG and he needs to audition for that. We all feel he can do it but the NBA no longer takes as many risks as it once did because they have an additional supply of Euro player from which to choose. Devonte's best chance is to have a Mason like season and then he can maybe become a lottery pick.
How would Devonte feel if he decides to come back? You would think he would be the logical person to take over the team and have Mason's role...
You are forgetting that Fran has talked down to KU fans in the past ↗ and that is not the only time. I guess we all see things through different lenses and to me, and based on past comments, the Fraschilla post was not an honest but a veiled left handed compliment...color me a cynic when it comes to all things Fran.
Cable companies are shooting themselves on their collective foot. Increasing fees is driving customers to non cable options and soon they will be selling mostly internet access. My son has cut cable completely and gets only super fast internet and he assures me that he can get most anything without cable.
Consolidated Communications is still a reasonable option in my area although their support is not nearly as good as it used to be when it was Everest or even Sure-West. The KU TV deal has certainly been a disaster in my area and most KU fans I know truly hate Zenger...I do too, of course.
Me too. Very encouraging.
See my comments above. I have written before that if they are looking for a blue blood near home, KU is the logical choice.
Gotta give credit to Tech. They payed two top 5 teams back to back and came within a whisker of winning both and they have WVU next...talk about a tough stretch; however, a win over WVU most likely places them in the Tournament and the Big 12 gets 8 teams in...a historical and unprecedented 80%...WOW.
Lucas was huge and I mean...HUGE... at the end creating turnover on the inbound plays, rebounding and putting back Mason's missed layup.
In all fairness, there really were not that many people leaving to make a big deal and those leaving were the ones siting in the 5 figure seats that are not really fans but posers showing off their money or corporate connections.
I believe a strongly worded letter from Zenger indicating that that type of display on prime time national TV is not acceptable is in order...yeah, right, like that is ever going to happen. Instead Zenger might black out a few more games so fans leaving the game early are not seen on national TV. SMH.
