Have a little faith. KU has been there before and came back to win.
Coleby!!!
Bragg us the weak link so far...
Josh is a stud...
What an outlet pass....
Yea baby..
BIFM...
Me too
Woooooooo....
Did no break the sound record on the first try..
Here we come...
Big delay in the broadcast, live stats are several second ahead.
Is this the same ref crew that called the previous game in Morgantown?
No.
I though the block was by Devonte...
Two fouls on them they did no call and now they call one on Lucas?
Dosn 10-0... you gotta be sh#ting me...
Impressed with Tech. 1-1 against two top 5 team back to back.
Looks like barring a miracle Tech will win and will do as a solid...
Now Tech gets a gift....
Refs bailing out Baylor...
Tech by 9. If they win it would lift a weight off Kansas and it can play more relaxed...
You go gurl...🖐
Tech by 6...
We get Vitale not Bilas...
Announcer just indicated that Baylor is the best rebounding team in the Conference; surprisingly enough and according to the conference website stats the top rebounding teams is KU.
The last foul against Tech was BS.
If they both come back, KU will have a super high octane offense when you consider Newman and Vick and hopefully an improved Carlton Bragg.
The only thing that worries me about Trae is his dad that appears to be one of those helicopter dads that hovers over the program (remember Carl Henry?). Maybe Trae wants to put some distance and come to KU where he would not be around as much and be less of a distraction where at OU he might be around a lot more.
Funny...I think...I posted a link earlier on the Trae Young thread.
Great highlight, love the Mozart music.
I couldn't agree with you more. I cannot even begin to understand why would anyone would say "Eff the degree." There is a good chance that a player that stays in college 4 years and does not develop like a Hield or a Mason, will be making a living in an area other that playing basketball.. Even players that are in the Leagues such as Aldrich and McLemore considered a degree important enough to pursue it even when they are getting paid big buck in the NBA; Aldrich graduated and I hope that some day Ben will as well.
What @tundrahok and @DCHawker said...
The salaries in the D-League are very small, one could also say nominal. As far as injuries, all key players are elegible for NCAA sponsored insurance that covers career ending injuries. ↗
It depends what type of exposure he is looking for. The exposure playing for KU would be considerably larger, but it will not allow him to earn money or be called to the NBA at the drop of a ha. Leaving early and not being drafted will not even guarantee him a contract in the D-League..
I would think that an extra year ta KU where he would be the featured player, much like Mason is this year, would be considerably more productive in the long run and he would have a diploma to boot in case things don't work basketball wise.
Your board, your rules. I am happy to have a platform where I can interact with fellow Jayhawk fans...tags or no tags.
You need to watch more NBA games; the no-defense is a dated stereotype. Many teams/players are emphasizing defense and players are now bragging when they are selected to the All- NBA defensive team.
Here is a link with ESPN announcers for tonight's game ↗, luckily, Fraschilla will not call this one...
The big question mark is Bragg because he is so unpredictable. If he is playing well I can see him playing 20+ minutes but if he is not his time will be pretty limited and the other 6 player will have to pick up the slack.
Nobody was expecting them both to leave, particularly Markieff, but the scout reports indicated they both would likely be lottery picks and Coach Self told them to do it.
Coach Self has indicated many times that at the end of the season he meets with every player and discusses the options going forward based on what the scout reports say and what the team needs are. He has also made it very clear that he would never tell a player to stay if he has good chance of getting drafted even if it hurts the team like he did with the twins.
The fatigue factor is an important one. KU relies primarily on a 7 man rotation and the 5 starters will get the bulk of the minutes and have to make sure to save energy to last the entire game; playing hard defense wears you out and perhaps this is why KU's defense is not as good as what we have seen in the past.
WVU has 9 players that play considerable minutes and 2 0r 3 more that come in for short stints. No question they can p;ay harder since they do not have to play as many minutes as the KU starters do.
Coach Self is in contact with many NBA scouts and he gets first hand reports on what the scouting reports are on his players. In the past he has advised players, such as the twins, to leave early since they had a good shot at getting drafted and I am sure he has advised others to stay but in the end, the decision is made by the player and family.
Svi can leave just about any time and play in Europe but if he wants to play in the NBA he might need one more year. Devonte is in a hard place where he has chosen to defer to Mason and let him be the face of the team in his POY quest, perhaps the expectation is that it will be HIS team next season. I would think if he stays and has a Mason like year, his draft value goes up considerably.
It is now but it wasn't a few days ago when it was first reported by one of the local stations. As I mentioned the original report indicated cancer but subsequent reports simply indicated that it was an undisclosed condition.
It has been reported in the local news in the KC Area, but after the very first report, the media has not reported on the condition, I will guess the family requested. They did indicate that he is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for Spring practice. He is now 77 years old and maybe this is a sign for him to retire and enjoy life without the stress of leading a football program. On the other hand, it might be more stressful to him to watch the programs go downhill when he is not at the help like it happened when he retired before.
Sad career end for great player.
Poison is poison so what difference does it really make?
I believe the game against WVU at home is tougher than playing Baylor on the roads because WVU has a HOF coach while Baylor has Scott Drew that we know will screw up sooner or later. WVU put together runs of 12-2 and 11-0 down the stretch to win the game in Morgantown and blew a close game wide open; I don't believe Baylor can do something like this.
A win tonight pretty much places KU in the driver's seat and, barring a stumble somewhere else, almost ensures at least a share of the title and pretty much put WVU out of contention. It is an ubber important game for both teams. for KU to keep the lead in the conference and for WVU to have a remote chance of winning the conference.
I think it will be a close game in the upper 70s or low 80s and decided by 3 points or less with KU outlasting WVU. Hopefully WVU will not have the refs help tonight.
That is funny. I did not get the when I read the original post, particularly when "dick" it is not capitalized.
Yes, indeed. Times have changed big time and now the media is more interested in making news rather than reporting them like they are supposed to do; I guess I am old fashioned this way. Fortunately the Internet has made available hundreds of sources, many equally biased one way or another, but at least we can pick our own poison.
Gonzaga will stay as a #1 seed but their conference schedule is so weak that offset its decent non-conference schedule and this is why it is the fourth #1 seed.. Keep in mind that more recent games carry a higher value than older games, this why the loss to Indiana will not hurt KU as much and why, with every game it plays, Gonzaga's numbers drop. If Gonzaga loses one game its numbers will take a tumble and they might end up as #2 seed.
Apparently the Computer ranking place a big emphasis on margin of victory and this is why teams like Kentucky and West Virginia appear to do well in those even when they rank considerably lower on the human polls and the RPI.
