A rabid K-State fan was trying to make the same argument about Juan on Twitter. I just said we're a hell of a team if our point guard is so bad. Then I reminded him of last week's score, and invited him to come to Lawrence so he could see what a national championship trophy looks like.

After the national championship, I examined several of the gripes I had with last year's team, and concluded that none of what I worried about had come true. In fact, the opposite had come true. I think we do ourselves a disservice by thinking our players and coaches are lacking awareness, and have no clue what's going on.

@kjayhawks I thought Juan was a Div 1 player. Did we get pushed down to Div 2 for winning the championship?

No use crying over spilled milk. I learned last year you can't give up on a team because you never know when they could take off. Myself, I can't wait until we go to the expanded basketball conference schedule next year. This is the downside of being in the best conference in basketball. 2nd game in a row against a Top 10ish team. And now we have a 3rd game against a Top 10 team 2 days later. You're playing Top 10 teams every game.

I remember when the Big East was the Big East, and considered to be the best conference in basketball. They would slug through so many big conference games, they'd be all bruised and beat up by the end of the season. Give me a home game against BYU / UCF in between these Top 10 gladiator fights.

now it's gotten embarrassing. oh well...the sun also rises....

They blitzed Baylor. Barely lost at Purdue. Have losses to good teams and some really nice wins. Shaka's best team ever. They're on FS1 at 1pm tomorrow.

Weird Kenpom thing this year (to me) is Shaka Smart coaching the best offensive team in basketball. Incredibly efficient scoring. Was always a "defense first" coach, at least how people looked at him after VCU.

Still can't figure out why he struggled so much at UT. Apparently not just a one-trick pony, and not a bad coach. I think he suffered a bit from turnover. Mo Bamba, Jarrett Allen, Jaxson Hayes, etc. Not excusing his inability to win despite landing elite talent, but certainly weird to see him succeed elsewhere.

I have pondered the same thing, and I think it may have something to do with landing Mo Bamba, Allen, Hayes, etc. All big men. I haven't seen them yet, but I'll bet he's back to running his 4 out like he did at VCU. I thought they looked big, slow and cumbersome at Texas.

Local sportswriter actually wrote a column hoping for a Bama win because then the SEC would have a better chance of winning another national championship. A few years ago on a New Year's Day, I was in a college bowl football thread where one of the teams was from the SEC, and there were more fans from other SEC teams than the SEC team that was playing. That was a year that Arkansas was bad- didn't make a bowl game, yet a slew of Hog fans were in there bragging away. "We're the SEC- we're the BEST". So in the SEC, even if your team stinks, you get to take credit for wins. As long as you have your SEC card.

Nice little morsel here: Tucky fans are debating if they'll even make it to the tourney, and are openly contemplating the NIT. One of their posters had this gem : "Could use the NIT to help keep up with Kansas in the wins department. Maybe." LOL. He's not even sure if going to the NIT would help them keep up with us...

Last night Missourah was beating the crap out of LSU, they played Mr Brightside, so they had to pay homage to their daddies by unleashing their "F KU" chant. In a game against LSU they were winning. We own them.

I like him as a person. I keep thinking how he toiled away for 20 years, and nobody gave him the time of day. Then I look at Baylor and they look not as elite as in years past, and then I look at the Puddy Tats and think they kinda look semi-elite, and say "What changed"? The Brains of Baylor left, and went to Silo Tech. And dude went and got Keyonte. And turned up Nowell. New Coach Thad Matta is laying a turd on Butler and this dude has Silo Tech in the Top 10. Drew can't come in out of the rain compared to Tang, imo. Yeah, the dancing BS is BS, cheesy milking the crowd type crap is annoying, but he'll get better at that too once he's been around awhile. I believe it's in our interest that they don't suck. Not sucking means more eyeballs on our games, even on streaming games. We're a national brand - we need competitive games.
