Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal β€’ Apr 27, 2015 09:23 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 very true! What do you that is dynamic that get you so excited?

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal β€’ Apr 27, 2015 09:18 PM

I meant to tag @crimsonorblue22 !

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal β€’ Apr 27, 2015 09:11 PM

@ Really? I saw Newman as someone who could come in and get his points no matter what. Like a more physical Selby. What do you see in Ingram? You are more know more about basketball than me so I am curious. Btw, you better not get me excited about him to get heart broken later! Lol

OSU Hit With NCAA Violations β€’ Apr 27, 2015 09:01 PM

@RockChalkinTexas let old T. Boone Pickens get that 8,500 dollar fine with the spare change in his wallet.

Did you hear that "boink?" β€’ Apr 27, 2015 08:59 PM

@wissoxfan83 You're tacky and I hate you 😑

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal β€’ Apr 27, 2015 08:57 PM

Will I take him? Sure. A talented player on the roster can't hurt. Especially since BG will be rusty and out of shape the first month of the season. But you won't see me sad if we don't get him, nor will I be giddy if we do. I was REALLY hoping for Newman but will take the silver lining that UK didn't get him either.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal β€’ Apr 27, 2015 08:50 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Wiggins would have succeeded in any offense under any coach. And McLemore had 2 years under him. But even he was only a 3 point shooter and got drafted high because of a terribly weak draft class and how athletic he was.

And @Statmachine I am not saying he isn't talented, but he isn't a guy that can create his own shot (Newman) and doesn't have the size we need. To call him Anthony David might one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in awhile on this site. There is absolutely no chance he is even a poor mans Anthony Davis. Not only are they two different positions but play nothing alike.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal β€’ Apr 27, 2015 07:49 PM

If you were a high level wing prospect, why would you ever think about coming to KU? Time and time again, Self has proven that his offensive scheme does not do well with an Oubre or Ingram. This is not a Self bashing. Never been a fan of people doing that. But his style of how to win doesn't bode welL for these kind of players.

And in all honesty, I don't really want him. I REALLY wanted Newman and Diallo. Nothing against him as a player, but I jus us believe he is pretty low on the list of needs.

Royals vs A's β€’ Apr 20, 2015 07:11 PM

If Ventura was being suspended, i believe we would have been notified by now.

And Herrera might. Not for throwing behind the batter but for the gesture pointing towards his head.

Royals vs A's β€’ Apr 20, 2015 06:48 PM

@drgnslayr not to mention, we have more pitchers that can get up to the 98-100 mph in the league!

Royals vs A's β€’ Apr 20, 2015 06:46 PM

And it was very frustrating watching this series.

It was old school style to slid hard into Escobar. And I'm fine with that. But it's also old school to plunk the player who did it. That retaliation should have been expected and move on. But that did not happen.

And the umps are just ridiculous. They don't give a pregame warning and throw out Ventura when the expected plunk was done, then give warnings when they hit Cain. Throw out Yost before he set foot on the field! If the management has control over who umps, then I would make sure they never set foot in Kaufman again!

Royals vs A's β€’ Apr 20, 2015 06:28 PM

Huge Royals fan here. I hope there is a board for the Royals put up soon!

Recruiting Rumors β€’ Apr 17, 2015 04:57 PM

I am like some others that don't want to see Svi or Greene's minutes taken away. If we get one, redshirt Greene because it will take awhile to get into the rotation because of his injury and have Svi come off the bench as a poor mans Harden with the Thunder. A do it all offensive punch kind of guy.

Zim makes it official. β€’ Apr 17, 2015 04:38 PM

No surprise. After that "take the least amount of risk possible" comment, it's clear he doesn't about the institutions at all and only wants to be positive that he goes to a place that lets him put up numbers and rise his stock. Glad we didn't get him.

@drgnslayr I like your enthusiasm! I just don't think he possesses the attitude of taking over a game like Marcus Morris did.

@Crimsonorblue22 I sure hope so! I see the same skill set with better explosion!

Wiggins posterizing dunk β€’ Apr 14, 2015 02:47 AM

I have mixed feelings about all the highlights I see. My first reaction is to be happy. But then I get a terrible feeling in my stomach asking where was this a year ago?

I have always been admittedly opposed to the idea that Wiggins didn't try. But it seems almost everyday I see a highlight dunk and all the missed finger rolls at KU come to my mind.

But nonetheless, good for Andrew!

Does anyone know what is keeping Perry from being a Marcus Morris?

@wrwlumpy The longer he waits, the more I lean towards him leaving.

But I fundamentally disagree with the writer. I would agree if he averaged 18 and 8 this year.

Ellis is a classic in between player. But with the same size of Marcus Morris, and noticeably more explosion, why can't he get drafted like Marcus Morris. Obviously, it depends on the draft class. But not draft class has a the massive chasm of 14th lottery to middle in the second round.

Stay another year, show consistent explosiveness, handles, and outside touch and he is definitely a first round guaranteed contract.

CLIFF GONE β€’ Apr 07, 2015 10:44 PM

Are we being a tad to harsh here?

This isn't Selby who could have came back but decided to take his chances in the NBA.

This isn't White who had his dad complain about how many scholarships his son had to play somewhere else.

This wasn't a guy who anyone on the team complained about his demeanor when he wasn't playing much.

This is a guy who had his family (and probably himself) make stupid decisions. And he is paying dearly for them. So what if he didn't live up to the expectations we held him to.

In the end, Self probably pushed him out and for good reason. But lets not slam him into the Selby category. I honestly wish him the best of luck and hope that fans always support him.

Do we really want Zim? β€’ Apr 06, 2015 04:55 PM

@drgnslayr could the NCAA really take away our wins if they cleared him themselves?

Do we really want Zim? β€’ Apr 03, 2015 06:40 PM

@joeloveshawks If that's the case, I'm already getting "Cush lash".

Do we really want Zim? β€’ Apr 03, 2015 04:47 PM

β€œI want to take the least amount of risk as possible. It’s my dream to go to the NBA and I want to do whatever it takes to get there,”

Is this someone we want at KU? I know we are a long shot anyway but this seals the deal for me. I know the NBA dream is something every recruit will have, but the personality of taking the least amount of risk can very easily fall into not playing hard to avoid injury, being upset if not getting the PT he wants, or playing in an offense that doesn't pack his stats.

We will dodge a bullet and have less gray hairs if he doesn't come.

Two methods to recruiting (In my mind anyway) β€’ Apr 02, 2015 02:30 AM

@JRyman said:
" Where's that leave Kansas? Right dab in the middle, purgatory you might say." Perfectly said.

Kelly Oubre going to NBA β€’ Apr 01, 2015 06:14 PM

@BeddieKU23 Whoa, I never said totally against it. Sometimes I wish players like Greene would get more of chance but I have said in the past that Self has to get the best players out there.

I was just predicting what the fallout of our big time recruiting busts. But like I said, I have zero inside scoop. It's just what I read.

I hope we can a footer and Malik. A footer for obvious reasons and Malik to have someone who can create his own offense other than Mason.

Kelly Oubre going to NBA β€’ Apr 01, 2015 06:05 PM

@BeddieKU23 It doesn't seem they will choose to come to KU. Self will pull a couple rabbits out of his hat when we don't get the OADs like he usually does. There will always be 3 stars available. I personally don't see Diallo, Maker, Malik, or Brown coming to KU. I am far from an insider or a prophet, but that's just my opinion.

Kelly Oubre going to NBA β€’ Apr 01, 2015 05:53 PM

Well for bettor or for worse, I think we will start getting significantly less OADs because of the lack of success with them. Oubre didn't explode like he was expected and Alexander was the nail in the coffin. But this may be for the better in the long run. Have a steady rate of 4 stars and low 5 stars and keep replacing senior with a prepared sophomore.

The only thing we have to be careful about as fans is complaining when we don't get top level recruits anymore. "Has Self lost his touch?" or the most disgusting one "Kentucky is getting them all, why can't we?" Darned if you do, darned if you don't.

Okie Lite Mulling Firing Ford β€’ Mar 31, 2015 06:16 PM

@HighEliteMajor Don't you dare put that on us......

Self with Mike Thorne's Parents Today. β€’ Mar 31, 2015 02:12 PM

We can't expect Thorne to come in and get 15 and 10. But if he is a Tarik type and can bring maturity, leadership, and toughness? Well then bring him on board!!!

Barometer On The Jayhawk Nation β€’ Mar 31, 2015 02:07 PM

If Marshall comes goes to Texas, idk if I would be able to stomach losing the conference to him. I guess it depends on who else wins it to be honest.

But honestly, Final Fours are precious gems so I would have to go with that.

Jayhawk Hints.... β€’ Mar 30, 2015 06:24 PM

@drgnslayr Exactly. But we loaded up with 5 star talent then also. The difference was they under performed and couldn't go high in the draft. It's impossible to actually predict if they will actually leave.

If Cliff didn't get into NCAA trouble, he could have fallen right into the mold that under performed but become critical to a final four run later.

Jayhawk Hints.... β€’ Mar 30, 2015 04:49 PM

@wissoxfan83 No one could have guessed that the 08 team would have stayed as long as they did.

Rush, Mario, Robinson, Shady, and Sherron were all 5 star guys. They actually didn't perform like everything thought they would the first couple years. Wright left early the year before and Rush only came back because he tore his ACL. It was a perfect storm.

Throw in there Jackson who everyone was frustrated with until his senior season, it was seasons of rain before the group molded into a machine.

Jayhawk Hints.... β€’ Mar 30, 2015 04:36 PM

What about Ellis? Surely, he isn't on the fence staying. At least I hope so.

Way too early predictions β€’ Mar 24, 2015 04:52 PM

http://www2.kusports.com/news/2015/mar/23/column-kus-2015-16-outlook-uncertain/?mens_basketball β†—

This year is over. I am still very interested in the progress KU football will hopefully make next year but I am curious in what you guys think. It may be the off season, but in Lawrence, it's basketball season all year around.

With the assumption that Kelly and Alexander leave, what should we expect from our players next season? Does Svi jump Selden? Does Greene make improvements to not make him so one dimensional? Does Graham gobble up the minutes that Oubre leaves? Can Bragg be an immediate contributer? All these questions are uncertain but I have to keep my mind on the numbing loss of WSU.

What do you guys think about the future roster?

Huge Thanks To KUBuckets And Crew! β€’ Mar 23, 2015 09:20 PM

@wissoxfan83 On the contrary my friend! We will have plenty to talk about with KU representing USA this summer!

It's Venting Time β€’ Mar 23, 2015 03:42 AM

The negatives are glaring for this year. But the positives about next year smack me in the face so I can sleep better tonight.

Perry Ellis: Oh boy will we have an absolute stud next year. We all thought that would be this year, but it was on unseen expectations so we couldn't be sure. Now we saw Ellis become a monster before the knee injury. Give it time to heal along with an off season to become even more complete, and we are looking at an 18 ppg player.

Hunter Mickelson: He NEEDS to become the starting 5 next year. Hopefully another year with Huddy and being around Self will get him the minutes he deserves. Lucas is a serviceable backup but that might be the limit of his potential.

Jamari Traylor: I love the guy but he simply should not get over 20 minutes a game with Ellis, Lucas, and Mickelson all being better options in my opinion. He can come in, get a highlight dunk to spark a nice 8-0 run.

Mason: The bulldog still needs more maturity. When things aren't running smoothly, it doesn't mean turn into a freight train and wildly throw up a shot in hopes to getting fouled. But this year, we saw Mason learn to set up teammates when he drives instead of constantly looking to score. The final piece of his maturity is to trust the offense and his teammates in the midst of scoring droughts. I predict this off season, he will do just that.

Greene: Will he have better handles to make him not easily to scout? My hope is he will develop that and by his senior year, be a first round draft pick. We saw him develop quite a bit defensively, so he can develop other aspects as well.

Selden: My hope is he gets past whatever mental block he has. I love him in a Kansas jersey and would hate to see him be recruited over. He see flashes of highlight alley oops and streaky shooting. Will this off season be the time he gets out of the way of himself? Only time will tell.

Svi: I don't see another wing coming into the situation as far as recruiting is concerned. So Oubre's time will be split of with Graham and Svi. He will not disappoint next year and be instant offense off the bench.

Graham: We just need him to develop a little bit of everything and we will be in hands off the bench. Shoot a little more consistently, a little better decision-maker, a little more vocal.

Self: With a good possibility of not having a footer for the second year in a row, I believe Self will learn from this season and adjust accordingly. What that looks like, I don't know. But Self is way to competitive to let the team play out the way it did this year.

Keep in mind, this team has unlimited time to prepare in the summer. UNLIMITED TIME! that means unreal development and chemistry. Hold on to your butts my rock chalk brothers and sisters, we are in for one heck of a ride next year!

In the mean time, let us support our other athletic programs and dream for next year! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

It's Venting Time β€’ Mar 22, 2015 11:49 PM

What are your frustrations of year and how it ended? What about some encouraging points about this year and next year?

It's therapeutic to get them out now so we don't dwell on them anymore than is necessary. Plus, it helps to hear from others who have a different views.

Without putting down other posters, I would love to hear some rock chalk reflections! Let 'em rip!

I love KU basketball β€’ Mar 22, 2015 11:44 PM

I forgot about that! Made my sour day a tad bit sweeter knowing I don't have to wait so long. Plus, they get unlimited practice time to prepare! Could be pretty sweet next year.

Wichita State vs Kansas Chat β€’ Mar 22, 2015 11:35 PM

@Jayrawks1 It's hard to detect sarcasm when the sting of a loss was literally one minute ago. I feel bad for Selden and I hope the guy can get past whatever is holding him back in the off season.

Wichita State vs Kansas Chat β€’ Mar 22, 2015 11:32 PM

The refs didn't lose this game for us. WSU simply played better today. They attacked, played team defense, and had a good shooting night.

We lost this game because we played the same old song like we have all year. Came out, punched them in the mouth, then lost intensity.

I hope Self can learn from this season, and get better next year.

Through the bright days and stormy ones, Rock Chalk my friends.

KU vs WSU - Match Ups β€’ Mar 22, 2015 01:43 PM

Do we put Oubre on Baker for most of the game?

Some Pre-Tourney Thoughts β€’ Mar 18, 2015 11:20 PM

If this team makes it to the elite eight, I can sleep at night knowing we did pretty well. This team will not be burned in my memory forever unless we beat UK or lose to WSU.

@jayhawkfantoo that quote makes me feel better and Self puts the season into perspective. I am personally more worried about the New Mexico State match up than the WSU one. I believe we match up very well with WSU.

Van Vleet hasn't faced someone who can match his quickness like Mason and Baker hasn't faced a big wing like Selden. The Harrison twins aren't physical defenders like Selden is. Maybe put Oubre on him as well to keep fresh legs running through their plays?

I know we must get through NMSU first of course, but I am very excited to give the Shockers exactly what they have been begging for.

Self Fullfilling Prophecy β€’ Mar 17, 2015 09:25 PM

@ParisHawk

How many times have we heard Self say, "we have to hit some shots" during the halftime interview? But as many have noted above, Self has his system and doesn't stray away from it.

In the past, open 3 pointers were created off double teaming bigs or driving the paint and dishing out. But the main difference isn't the lack of perimeter players. We have a guy in Ellis that will get doubled most of the time when he's attacking. It's passing. Plain and simple.

Mason, Selden, or Oubre attack the lane only to use the floater or attempt to get fouled. Ellis gets double teamed and isn't a skilled passer to get in to another big or find someone quickly to make the D scramble.

But this goes back to Self. No outside action. No plays to give shooters a chance unless it's the final minute.

Self is one of the greats in coaching and we are all beyond blessed to have him as our coach. But one cannot honestly access this team and think Self did everything he could to capitalize on the type of talent he has.

I have yet to see New Mexico State play. So if anyone could fill me in on some questions, it would be greatly appreciated!

What are the match up advantages that we have? Or what are some potential tough match ups for us? Do you like the match up? Last year we had a nightmare against Stanford with their bigs.

What does their lineup look like? Do they rely on defense or outscoring opponents?

Another Super Bowl Loss... β€’ Mar 17, 2015 03:47 PM

@drgnslayr Do you think it's possible for this team to play pissed? I haven't seen it yet this year!

Another Super Bowl Loss... β€’ Mar 16, 2015 09:34 PM

Well good thing Gregg Marshall didn't play ball at WSU!!!

Another Super Bowl Loss... β€’ Mar 16, 2015 01:44 AM

@drgnslayr

"I can't even get anyone in here to understand what a chip is."

Yikes. I hope this isn't an slight to the intelligence of other posters on this board. If so, you are better than that.

Another Super Bowl Loss... β€’ Mar 15, 2015 06:13 PM

@drgnslayr I always follow your post, and I have always enjoyed your analysis and being levelheaded. But you are making some pretty bold statements.

I know you want to focus on motivation, but as you can tell, these boards have a life of their own!

You say we are being delusional self defenders and to take away our "Jayhawk emotion". But you seem to still be steamed about last nights game. You even said "we are doomed".

I am actually under the current belief that we are on borrowed time with Self before he heads to the NBA. There would be no bashing on Self for him doing that from me.

Your emotions are running so high that you believe caps will get your point across. We are all aware that Self went to OSU, but to say Self's players are suffering because of where he went to college 30 years ago is simply not true. You could point out many mistakes Self has made to why his players aren't "motivated" or playing at a high enough level. None of which include him being a Cowboy at heart. There will always be a special place in Self's heart for OSU obviously, but come one. We are not doomed, Self is a true Jayhawk, and we are in a great position.

I wonder if you were saying this claims in 08 and 2012? I might have my "Jayhawk emotions" going, but I believe you have your "pissed about the last couple years" emotions coming out in full force.

Another Super Bowl Loss... β€’ Mar 15, 2015 04:10 PM

@oldhwkfan Took the words right out of my mouth! Didn't see you posted!

Another Super Bowl Loss... β€’ Mar 15, 2015 04:09 PM

@drgnslayr Self also always referrers to that one year under Larry Brown.

Self has made a ton of mistakes. But to think Self isn't a Jayhawk is crazy. So Wooden is really a Boilermaker and not a Bruin? Or Dean Smith is actually a Jayhawk and not a Tar heel?

I honestly believe that Self hates the loss worse than we do. It's his hard work and late nights, his players that he recruited and cares about, his job and security. Again, Self has been far from perfect. But to think that KU loses games because he didn't go to college there 30 years ago might be a bit absurd.
