@Crimsonorblue22 Studies have shown that listening to "Reefer" Walton for long periods of time can cause long term brain damage.
@wissoxfan83 LMAO...he Shoots....he SCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Lulufulu I think Coach Self is dealing with much larger issues, which is why he did what he did with Lucas/Traylor/ Hunter/ Bragg. I think two years ago, he anointed freshmen ( Embiid, Selden, and Wigs ) as starters ....which chapped the ass of the regulars. So, last year, coach went to a 'earn your time' philosophy, and we can see the results recruiting-wise this year for that decision. Cliff's tweets certainly haven't helped. So, Self does not want Hunter to "shine", and have a top 5 guy ( Diallo ) sitting like last year, so when he does go after the top guys, he won't be having to address the same concerns as his recruiting staff is obviously having to answer now.
@Lulufulu Or ....Is this pay back from the NCAA for not being able to hang anyone out to dry on the Cliffie case? The NCAA does fit the 'petty bureaucrat' profile to a T.
So...Skal was ineligible to play high school basketball last year because he took illegal benefits ......and he's cleared by the NCAA weeks ago. They don't share a word of whats going on with Diallo for over two months until NOVEMBER 5th ....and what they share turns out to be a pack of lies, and half truths that were easily refuted by KU. If this episode doesn't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jaybate's blockade theory is true, I don't know what does.
*It was one loss. A bad way to start the season ...yep, yep, yep. But to be forced to be demoted to coaching Dook for one loss ....that's simply cruel and unusual punishment. *
My 2 cents worth? I think Self has a machismo issue with Izzo. I think he wanted to beat him w/o playing a perimeter game ... beat the Green Meanie at his own game - down low...etc. Now, my opinion might be worth 2 cents, or less than that, but I'm trying to figure it out myself, and its the best I can come up with....
@nuleafjhawk Roy is like a former girlfriend - you remember her fondly the longer you're away from her. Get around her again, and you'll remember why she is a former. My ass was chapped with Roy when he left. The misses on the big stage, the godly reverence for all things Dean, including limiting our recruiting for 15 years. The way he left....the promises he made which he didn't mean, and didn't keep ... Yeah, I loved Roy's teams, but I love Bill's teams , too. And we're every bit as relevant as we were then. Actually more so in some ways.
1977–78 Kansas 24–5 13–1 1st NCAA First Round
1978–79 Kansas 18–11 8–6 T-2nd
1979–80 Kansas 15–14 7–7 T-4th
1980–81 Kansas 24–8 9–5 T-2nd NCAA Sweet Sixteen
1981–82 Kansas 13–14 4–10 7th
1982–83 Kansas 13–16
Here is Ted Owens last 6 years at KU. Think we've made any progress?
@jaybate-1.0 They don't remember the Ted Owens years, or all the years that Roy NEVER won a NC. It's a lack of perspective.
@jaybate-1.0 I plan on working on my fantasy football teams during the short lull. Football....YOU BET!
@DoubleDD I'm sorry - I had to fix the typo. I understand the grieving process. We'll be ok, but we have to be patient. If nothing has changed by the end of the year, then we'll all be screaming...
@Statmachine No "Maui Wowie" for him...
I think we will be fine as frog hair next year, and here is why: DG- PG/ Frank - SG/Svi=Greene-SF / Bragg-PF / and our 5. We need one good big ...
@jaybate-1.0 Reporting for duty, sir! Double naught has his ears on the ground..
@betterfireE I completely disagree. The screen pass started in KC back when Len Dawson was QB, and Otis Taylor was his top wr.
@jaybate-1.0 I did love it when you both went ninja to obtain all the info from the players, practices, etc. the BIA, right? That one had me literally on the floor. OMG, that was funny.
@VailHawk LOL. I'm sorry...won't let it happen again.
@jaybate-1.0 I feel as though I have arrived late for the funeral. So, what are the odds we pull an upset over Chaminade?
Right now, it's real easy to be critical and skeptical of that loss. It looked like the same ole sh*t sandwich we've eaten for 3 years. But i don't deal in the facts business-: I'm a fan, which means I can view that terrible loss as the greatest thing that has ever happened to us... because it finally allowed Coach Self to see he needed to quit trying to muscle down inside, and start developing a perimeter game. That's my delusion, and I'm sticking to it.
@SoftballDad2011 LMAO. Too funny....
@Crimsonorblue22 No, I didn't. I didn't ever log in.
@Crimsonorblue22 Him and Jayhawkrock78. I’ve sent them both a message, nothing. I know jethro got kinda mad last bb season.
Why do you say things like that??? LOL. There were quite a few folks not happy with our last game last year.
Thanks for the nice comments. I am dealing with recent loss, and have been recovering from my grief ( the horror of losing to Izzo again). I read every post, enjoy almost all the bantering, and have found that many threads are better off with me reading instead of weighing in...lol.
I'd comment, but I see the thread bully is back at it again. Babbling B. S. served up on a platter. No wonder they practically celebrated when he left Kusports. I hope i never have such a pathetic need for attention.
@drgnslayr I wish and hope you're right.
@nuleafjhawk We live in very interesting times.
@nuleafjhawk The apocalypse? I haven't heard that one. I heard cataclysmic event, supposedly in my neck of the woods. Just curious why there are so many references through the years from Hollywood about it. Is it another December 21st, 2012 moment, or Y2K? Or is there a reason the Pope is in Washington that day at the White House? Inquiring minds want to know. Maybe I should go visit Kansas that week....
@nuleafjhawk ??? What's not going to happen?
@Crimsonorblue22 No maam.
Bump.
@konkeyDong I wish they had narrowed the survey to " how many top recruits are swayed by Big Shoe". I think it would've been much higher.
@JhawkAlum I get the point - we're all poor sports because we lost, and we hate them. When we beat them, they'll be poor sports, just like they were with Wisconsin. The only difference is our coach and players haven't been poor sports, even if we have been among ourselves. When they lose, their coach and their players will be the biggest babies of all, along with their nutty fan base. My Kensucky buds have been unmerciful since the last match up. One dude added the 72-40 score to his permanent signature on his email, which i intend to duplicate with our winning score against them. I still hate the Squid. I still hope they lose every game the same way I have since the Seventies, when I started watching college basketball. Some things aren't going to change, and I'm one of them.
@JhawkAlum And they will reek of jealousy when we beat them this year.
@Crimsonorblue22 He's simply a low class guy, imo. You would NEVER hear Coach Self talking that way, even if it was true. The Squid teaches his players to act like punks. That arrogant smirk on Randle's face - the absolute smear by one of the Bobsey twins against Kaminsky after the Badgers kicked their ass ... That's what they learned from the Squid. How to be arrogant.
@nuleafjhawk And the lust for power.
@HighEliteMajor Uncertainty about Diallo is tempering everyone's expectations, which might be a good thing. I think Diallo gets cleared with no problems, but you never know. I know this - if he doesn't get cleared, and Skal does get cleared, I'm going to insist that Adidas match Nike's "donation" to whoever is pulling the strings at the NCAA.
With the money he was making, he could've hired a chauffeur to get him from point A to point B. Million dollar athlete + 10 cent brain.
Another shining example of stupid from the land of the meth lab:

@BeddieKU23 Murray is a monster, but I am glad he didn't sign with us. I like the guys we have on the perimeter, and Murray would've taken away some minutes I'd rather see given to the guys who've been here for us.
When I was 9 years old, one of my favorite things to do was to go watch the Bee Jays. Tragic loss.
I haven't seen anything other than that blurb on CBS about it. I'm not worried about it - even if he misses time, I think this team can win without him. I'm going to remain optimistic whether he's there game 1 or not.
@VailHawk Well, this was the weekend for the "blue moon" to appear, so it doesn't surprise me.
@jayballer54 Jayce would be a nice project that could pay off big down the road. Him and Hudy should become best friends. Here's a mix tape I found:

@Texas-Hawk-10 I really think UNLV is going to be tough. They are like giants on that front line.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I'm ready for the transition. When the Big 12 rejected Louisville, I was ready for us to go. I would still like to have the K-State Kitties with us, but if not, I would welcome playing in the Big 10. KU vs Indiana. KU vs Michigan. KU vs Sparty.
@Crimsonorblue22 Ok...that makes better sense..lol. He's 6'2, and he wasn't taller than the basket, but he did seem to sky over the rim with the ball.
@Lulufulu No, click on the link, and watch the video.
@Crimsonorblue22 looked like a regulation goal to me.
@Crimsonorblue22 That IS a factor. I'll still be curious to see what our shooting % is in that 3rd game out in Maui, however.
