@JRyman Someone was making a comment comparing Texas A & M's Davis to Diallo on another thread. One thing I noticed watching Cuse/A &M is that A & M has a player that averaged 17 ppg last year that is now playing off the bench because Davis is starting ahead of him. That simply wouldn't happen under a Bill Self team. Normally, we can't offer immediate starter's minutes right away, which frankly hurts us with a lot of these kids. We don't really have an opening at the 1,2,3 or 4 for this year, or next year.
@Crimsonorblue22 December 5th, or the 12th, depending how quick they get in his paperwork after the mid-term grades come out on December 4th.
@wrwlumpy Fair enough....
@wrwlumpy "If Diallo can throw a decent outlet"
That's what he's known for. I can't wait until Frank, Wayne, and Devonte are all racing to the other end, and Diallo throws it nearly full court...

- Cheick Diallo makes Kansas college basketball's team to beat
The NCAA announced Wednesday the 6-foot-9 power forward will be eligible to play for the Jayhawks on Dec. 1, and his addition immediately makes Kansas the team to beat in college basketball.
I picked Bill Self's squad to win the national title with or without Diallo, but his motor, relentlessness and ability to to run the floor completely changes the complexion of this team.
βHis motor is as high as any big man we've had here,β Self said Wednesday. βBut Cheick is raw. He's really raw."
There's no doubt about that, but he doesn't need to be polished for this Kansas team to win the whole thing in early April.
The Jayhawks have veterans that have been through the gamut in Frank Mason, Wayne Selden Jr. and Perry Ellis, along with an improving sophomore in Devonte Graham that gives the Jayhawks another ball handler that can take pressure off Mason.
If you haven't seen Diallo's motor yet, think of a great white shark operating when there's blood in the water -- seriously.
Kansas was good enough to win the Maui Invitational without the hardest playing kid in college basketball. Imagine what it will look like when it adds Diallo?****
@HighEliteMajor I wouldn't have known much about Bragg, except for your posts. It was a great call.
@cragarhawk We had 1 blocked shot against Vandy ( Selden). Diallo will fix that category. I think many will surprised how much of a faster team we'll be with Diallo in the lineup. He will be a furious rebounder. He might not break 10 points a game, but he'll make every other teammate better by his presence.
One of the largest expectations I have seen expressed over and over again are by people absolutely convinced that Self will screw it up with Diallo. And with that, I disagree. Whether he starts him right away, or brings him along slowly, at some point, Diallo will be manning the 5, blocking shots, and throwing incredible outlet passes that will us allow to run, run run. Heck, he might rattle the rim with a thunderous dunk or two as well. Why folks aren't totally ecstatic about getting this guy in our lineup...I have no clue.
@cragarhawk I mean we have ppl getting all googly eyes here about Dialloβs clearance.
That's me. All googly eyed.
@Lulufulu Diallo will help our guards tremendously. I wouldn't be surprised if Diallo doesn't play huge minutes from the get-go- he is that much of an upgrade over what we have.

I think Diallo allows us to run, run, run. Yes, it was nice that our perimeter guys grabbed 18 boards last night, but if we had a manbeast in the middle getting those caroms, then the Franks, Devontes, and Waynes would be out on the break instead of having to sag back on the defensive end to get boards. Diallo should completely open up our offense in a big way. We're going to be the Running Jayhawks !
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Ok, let me introduce you to first row. http://firstrowsportes.eu/ β β
It has all kinds of sports...every pro football game....every bb game, and it does have a tab for volleyball in their "other sports" section.
How to use it:
Find the game you want, and click on it. Below it, you will see Link 1, link 2, etc. Right click link 2, and open in a new tab. You will see 3 pop ups block the screen: the first one says :close ads". Click on that - it will open a new tab. Go to that new tab, and click the very small x on the remaining pop up that is on the far right. then click the last popup, and there is your game.
@BeddieKU23 Best game of his career, imo. It's not Perry, its Wayne. Wayne is our real leader.
@jaybate-1.0 Upvote for the "Men who watch goats" reference.
@DanR I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN.
@DanR i KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN.
SELDEN !!!!!!!!!
@SoftballDad2011 Hays is the coldest place on earth.
we're eating them alive ....
@Texas-Hawk-10 I was thinking about team speed, too - we could be the fastest team in college basketball this year with Diallo in the line up.
That makes for a wonderful thanksgiving for KU fans. Maui Classic championship on the tube after we butt=stomped two opponents in a row, one a former blueblood. Since the Chieck has cleared, we go from paper tiger down low to lean and mean. Yeah, I'm pumped. Count me in on this special journey this year.
@drgnslayr Bingo.
The NCAA said he took "improper benefits", and suspended him for the first 5 games, which conveniently means he won't available against Vandy's huge front line. Is that by accident they made sure he wouldn't play tonight? I think not!
@SoftballDad2011 That is correct.
there were times when Perry simply took over the game. I think that was Perry's best game ever, imo.
@drgnslayr That's why we'll be so good next year - Frank, Devonte, Svi, and Bragg along with whoever is the 5.
@wissoxfan83 We're going to be laughing at the prospect that during our Final Four run, that some were calling for Self to be fired....
@AsadZ I will patiently wait for your retraction as we kick ass this season. We will do so well, you won't have any other choice...lol.
@AsadZ Pretty ridiculous to want to have our coach fired, or to take the side of a player trying to start a mutiny, imo. If you told anyone outside of our program you wanted Coach Self fired, you'd be laughed off the internet.
I wonder what it feels like to be a UCLAN tonight .... wondering if Reefer Walton is smoking away his anguish over the game ...
OMG....look at our offense.....59 in a half?....
this has been a real nail biter ....will we break 100 again?
@wissoxfan83 lol...
Is that Jamari making a jump shot?
@SoftballDad2011 Step 1 : Beat the UCLANS Step 2 : Beat the Vandy. Rinse, lather, repeat.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yep, yep. Let's win tonight !!!!
That the fan base runs off Coach Self, and we hire Liberace.
@SoftballDad2011 That Vandy team is one tall team. That's going to be a real challenge if we meet them in the championship.
Ok, Vegas has installed KU as a 9 point favorite in tonight's tilt against the UCLANS. I look for KU to be able to run against them, and will slow down Alford Jr. and company enough to win 91-79.
Is Reefer Walton going to call the game?
@KUinLA I didn't post that to pile on, by any means. I have friends that follow other college teams that are openly laughing at the "fire Bill Self" crowd. It's really funny to them. I'm like you - I want to see the 3 ball every game ..I think we have a chance to be prolific....
@justanotherfan I thought Vick looked like a man among boys playing in a mop up role. Man oh man, he is going to be good !!!!
KU 91 UCLA 79.
I don't remember a time that a Self team had 100+ points in 2 out of his first 3 games. I think we have the potential for a great offense, provided we don't have a regulator on the engine.
who had good defense?
Silverswords...who dat?
@joeloveshawks I have several IU buds and they despise him. They beg for the day he's gone. BTW, I told them several KU fans want to fire Self, and they couldn't believe anyone would even suggest that Self get fired. i guess its all about perspective because IU would practically beg to have a coach as good as Self.
