2019 Transfer List • Mar 26, 2019 06:47 PM

@DCHawker An exception. As has Reid Travis at UK.

What is happening more and more though is teams are able to build a high caliber team with transfers, or in a case like this season, add that final piece.

Nevada made a FF run around transfers. Houston has transfers this season. Nova won the Championship with one last season. Gonzaga went to the NC last season with a team based around transfers. It's has really changed the game as of late.

2019 Transfer List • Mar 26, 2019 06:41 PM

@DCHawker His leading scorer this year is a transfer.

Would take in a heart beat.

IDK about transfers. They had better be a target like Malik and not a desperation grab like Charlie.

It's hit of miss. But look at all the transfers left in the Sweet 16 that are making big impacts

Brandon Clarke started his career at San Jose St and is a Top 2 player at Gonzaga and will be drafted in the 1st round in June.

Texas Tech's 3-6 leading scorers are transfers

Michigan's 3rd leading scorer Charles Matthews transferred from Kentucky.

Braxton Key plays a role on Virginia's team.

Paul White has been an intergral part of Oregon's tournament success so far coming from Georgetown.

Bigby-Williams for LSU

Houston has 2 transfers in their rotation.

Reid Travis at Kentucky

Cameron Johnson of UNC is their leading scorer

This.

You have to be involved in the transfer market now. There is too much talent to ignore. People are scared of by Charlie, but they really shouldn't be. Two years in a row we have had a transfer be one of our better players. And we had a very positive experience with Black.

Every year there are quality guys, it is just picking and landing the right ones.

I don't think it helps the way we recruit though. We are always recruiting guys deep into April when all of this shakes out, so some transfers are scared to come here.

Cunliffe didn't work out too well either for recency.

Some success stories are Withey, Black, Lawson, Newman. Self has usually targeted transfers from Power 5 or bigger named schools.

I hope we take one grad transfer at least as well as a sit-out transfer. Not sure we'll convince enough HS talent to come here at this point with the current situations going on. There's a real chance only 5 Letterman return as it is. Best case reality type scenario seems to be around 8 + the two signee's. I seem to repeat this every year but Self should sign as many 2019/20 eligible players as he can find. After that get 1 sit-out with experience to mold. One year was enough of having a young team. Self needs to get old no matter how

I can't believe I forgot Withey. So our last two FFs, we had a transfer play a huge role. Actually, that FF team with Withey also had Wesley and Young as well. 3 transfers that year.

New 2019 Recruiting • Mar 26, 2019 04:46 PM

This always sucks. You have to hope they at least tell the schools early. "We know where we are going but we are going to wait a month to tell everyone."

Drives me crazy every year.

oh boy. Avenatti has two twitter posts today.

One talking about DeAndre Ayton cash payments to his mother and others.

Another talking about Bol Bol receiving cash from Nike

Both guys were KU targets. So is Adidas cheap or clean? I’m betting on cheap.

Yea this could just as easily blow up in our faces. I'm more worried about that than happy this info came out at all.

I'm rooting for whoever wins me the Bucket Championship.

The more info I find, the more this guy just seems like an older Billy McFarland with a Law Degree.

NIKE in Trouble?? • Mar 25, 2019 07:07 PM

I really think this is just a cash deficient "rich" guy who was looking for easy money. I doubt this goes anywhere. But, then again, this whole thing started with one guy doing something stupid.

Let's hope there's something real here and it's not just a desperate con man with a terrible plan.

Looks like he could either be a great WR or a mediocre QB. My guess is he starts the latter and ends up the former once we get him here. Definitely a D1 caliber athlete though.

That's good to hear he IS D-1 caliber athlete. - pretty sad the kid is right here in my home city and I haven't been keeping up on his recruiting - - makes 2 Kansas kids for next year. - -Do you now by chance what other schools other then K-state may have been interested in him? -size? - - 100 yd time? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I know nothing more about him other than watching his film he was clearly above the competition all season. I coached HS football for 4 years and watched film on probably 25 different schools in that time and at least a thousand different players.

This guy sticks out as clearly D1 material. You can just tell when a Kansas High School kid is D1 because he is basically unstoppable. He is bigger, faster, stronger, quicker and just flat out more athletic than anyone else on the field trying to tackle him.

To me, he looks like a future receiver. He has the size for it and he would be a legitimate threat with the ball after the catch.

Don't feel bad about not hearing about him though, he isn't ranked at all on 247. Which is pretty rare even for some of the lesser recruits tbh. But it is nice to see that Miles and staff are at least looking at the talent in our backyard even if nobody else really is.

KJ - gets his degree - -but are you sure on Dedric? - - KJ older

Yes. Two years at Memphis. Two years at KU.

@BeddieKU23 I really think it hurts us with anyone but Precious. We may have to return everyone we possibly can out of necessity. I really am worried about a post-season ban.

It's gonna be a huge plus.

Bringing in a GREAT kid in McBride too.

Braun probably needs to be slapped around a bit in practice.

If Braun sees the floor next year at all it will be a nice surprise imo.

Next Year's Team • Mar 24, 2019 04:04 AM

I really think we see big improvements by whoever ends up staying. McBride needs to be able to at least handle 10 minutes a game and not be a negative. We either need Grimes to stay and become a scorer or Stanley to come and fill that gap.

I’m not worried yet. This is what happens at most places when you replace 5 starters...

Stop slobbering over the transfer list, people. They are not desirable players.

I mean Gonzaga and UK and Nevada all benefitted from it. We just can’t be taking midgets and brothers.

There is definitely a time and a place. But we should be picky.

I don't understand why we didn't run this 5 for much longer in the first half. Seriously. If the subs are such a liability that Dedric has to be the focal point of the offense always, then I don't want subs. We've played 6 guys for majority minutes before.

It is definitely odd that Bill didn’t cut the rotation down this season.

Guys didn’t separate as much as normal

I guess... still strange. We’ve seen him cut it to 7 before. And the top 6 are Pretty identifiable.

Let's hope we can win an appeal with SDS and get him eligible for next year. Their ruling was too harsh. I think this season was enough. But they made sure KU didn't do one damn thing this year. What's worse, KU decided not to do one damn thing this year. GEEZ. This is surreal. This is a freakin' nightmare of a season.

Either that or SDS just leaves and we never utter the name again. Wish we never heard of him to be honest.

I’ll be glad we got him if we don’t vacate the FF he helped get us to

I’d trade it back right now. The whole SDS situation has been a nightmare

I don’t know landing him changes anything. Billy was just as much of an issue... talk about wishing we never got a kid.

The last two times we were this young, we lost early in the tourney. And the fruits of being so young turned into a Championship and a FF. This sucks. But long term it will be ok.

I just hate to see a horrible, horrible call change a game. Baylor had all momentum and Vital was dominating. He was literally taken out of the game by the refs.

Now, Drew should have pulled him out before he got it. But it doesn’t excuse a bad call.
