That was an inspiring win. Take away Och and the bench out scores the starters

TCU got hot

I am still adamant that getting a one seed is important and likely if we just tcob

Non-KU Games • Mar 11, 2022 06:33 PM

If Auburn loses, KU has to be a #1 seed right? I've seen some stuff that still has Baylor in front of KU, but I don't get how their resume is better.

Leaves UK, Zags and Zona

We had the rotation figured out.

Yes backup guard. JCL backup wing. It was working so well.

Remy isn’t pulling a Malik

Zach SZN Game Thread • Mar 10, 2022 09:32 PM

Sigh. This team has no ability to finish games early.

Remy sucks btw

Zach SZN Game Thread • Mar 10, 2022 08:44 PM

Remy giveth, then he taketh

Zach SZN Game Thread • Mar 10, 2022 08:32 PM

@BShark 27% three point shooter Jalen Wilson

Zach SZN Game Thread • Mar 10, 2022 08:30 PM

Zach gets a lot of rebounds for a guy who doesn't really jump for them. Just boxes out and reads the bounce well

Zach SZN Game Thread • Mar 10, 2022 08:26 PM

@Jethro 10 and a half minutes so far

Bruce's Obit • Mar 10, 2022 07:42 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Something about it just feels right. KSU fans think that job is not the crappy job it is. There is a reason that Wichita State has had more success as a program than KSU has in the past 30 years.

2022 Transfer Portal Thread • Mar 10, 2022 07:17 PM

Have to imagine you see Nigel Pack's name in soon.

Has a player ever been a better fit for any team ever than he would be for Alabama? Hope to see him leave the conference.

Bruce's Obit • Mar 10, 2022 07:16 PM

@DanR Honestly, this just feels too perfect for Greg Marshall's comeback.

Bruce's Obit • Mar 10, 2022 02:26 PM

He didn't go out with a bang, but a six minute whimper.

When it was all over, Bruce finished 9th in the league and 14-17 overall in what was a make or break season. He wasn't up to the task despite having all of the talent he needed to be able to make the tourney. Pack was unreal. Mark Smith was a very good player. He literally was able to bring Bradford in off the bench (a luxury for most schools).

This season was really a sign of why Bruce is just not meant for P5 basketball. He's only ever caught lightning in a bottle once, winning the league one time in his entire P5 coaching career with his own players. His elite 8 run in Manhattan may be one of the flukiest things to ever happen, and the funniest thing still is that it will probably be the best shot they ever have at a Final Four ever again. He blew it.

Bruce has gone by many names here over the years, and almost certainly KSU can't hire someone goofier than Liberace (@KUSTEVE we miss you) aka Squeaky. But, somehow they were able to hire Huggy. Maybe a Frank Martin reunion is in order. They'll figure something out, but it is most certainly the end of an era.

I think maybe the funniest thing about Bruce's career is that he was always trying to escape Bill Self's shadow. At Illinois, "the funeral" story is so funny. And for that program to only get worse after he didn't have Bill's players anymore forcing him to take the KSU job only to have to personally call Bill Self "daddy" for a decade is fantastic. And in so, so many press conferences you can just feel the jealousy and anger that he has for Bill. Bruce was obsessed with how he was perceived by the national media, which made him seem like such a petty little man.

Farewell purple prince. May your dreams be that of a called travel, not blowing a 16 point halftime lead at home, FBI raids, severe penalties, your name being called to be in the HOF, stools being left on the ground, and getting named NCOY after a 14-17 season because you "did it the right way." May we never hear your voice or see you step 6 feet onto the court when play is going on ever again.

You will be missed, but not by us.

Non-KU Games • Mar 10, 2022 12:30 PM

@FarmerJayhawk This guy has always had issues with where he stacks up. Thinks of himself in the same tier as Bill or Huggy lol. K-State really deserved him.

@drgnslayr UK looks legit. Hate to say it, but they are a complete team and athletic AF.

I definitely want the 1 seed. History just says it is a better path. A decent chance to play a 16, 9, and 12 seed before you get to the elite 8.

The 1 seed is still in play imo. This week matters. I think the #1 seeds end up being Zags, Zona, B12 Tourney champ (providing it is one of KU/Baylor) and the SEC tourney champ (providing it is one of UK/Auburn).

This guy is such a good comp for CB it is insane. And he's played over 400 NBA games. So CB is most certainly a pro prospect.

IARP update • Mar 06, 2022 03:13 AM

Norm has HC experience. If this is the punishment sign me up.

@benshawks08 yea this situation requires Jalen to take a leap. But hopefully Bill uses this as a motivator for him to put in the work

Final thought here - the roster as constructed (barring a ton of guys leaving) is so well balanced that we don’t have any “needs” as much as wants.

I want a 3 and D 40% Trey baller guard who is 6’3. But this team can be top 5 next season without it

I also think a lineup of:

  • Harris
  • Braun
  • Wilson
  • Kj
  • Zach

Is being discounted a bit. I can definitely see us going back to two bigs with the guys we have next season.

Dave needs to go. Cam won’t be back imo.

I suspect they already have a guard in mind from the transfer portal and it is unofficially a done deal. Yesufu was a Jayhawks before the tournament ended last season.

I don’t think there is room at the 5 to add a transfer.

I think you’ll see another departure besides Cam, but I’m hoping not

@AsadZ I totally agree. But I do think there is some knowledge that comes with playing under center that translates well.

I'm really just wanting to see him on the field 10 times a game to keep the defense on their toes and worried about a double pass.

Revenge Game Thread • Mar 04, 2022 06:29 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I definitely agree with this to an extent. I like that he is taking it upon himself at times. I am tired of watching CB pass up 3s he should take.

The offense has really been like 3 guys passing the ball around until it gets to Och or Dave and then there is a shot. Formula when we were playing well was everyone was getting shots off.

Och at 12. Suring up lottery status

Revenge Game Thread • Mar 04, 2022 01:58 PM

@Jethro I don't buy the foot excuse for the bunnies. He just has the yips. He's making his free throws.

Defensively I would buy it, other than what I am referring to is mostly terrible decisions to help. He is overhelping. Nothing to do with recovery, the primary defender does a great job forcing their man into a tough spot and Dave bails them out by trying to get a blocked shot. Mitch does this a lot too, but Dave did it probably 5 times last night.

Just move Bean to WR already. If Daniels goes down I realize they want to have a good backup, but it won't be like Bean doesn't know the offense.

Revenge Game Thread • Mar 04, 2022 01:02 PM

Good to see Yes picked over Remy last night.

3 minutes and another -6 with Remy on the floor.

Dave killed us defensively last night too, but I’m not sure what you can do about it. It is him or Mitch. He constantly abandoned his man when he didn’t need to help and it either led to a layup or an offensive rebound.

Och is going through some regression to the mean clearly.

Need more from CB.

Some things will have to get better for this team to win a game the 2nd weekend. Hopefully rest is the main thing they need. Plenty of that coming after Saturdays game.

I wonder if Bill isn't losing the team. Never have seen such a listless effort. Maybe it's because they're tired...I'm not sure.

The only way I worry about this is if guys feel like Remy doesn't deserve to be playing. Otherwise this team has played hard all season long. Not sure why now (other than the Remy situation) they would decide to quit.
