@Crimsonorblue22 How bad?

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 02:55 AM

@BeddieKU23 Hip again?

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 02:10 AM

Numbers-wise, this is the best defense Kansas has had per Ken Pom. I think our 2008 team had better defense, but this is right up there.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 02:03 AM

So I said before the game that if we're under 14 turnovers we'll win.

13 turnovers on the game. AND 13 steals. Our defense is nuts.

Nothing like handing WVU their first home-loss of the season. Rock friggin Chalk

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 01:58 AM

Yes way. It's a free-throw shooting contest now. Get Doke out.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 01:56 AM

1-and-1 I think.

4-point game. Still in it. It could be a lot worse. Keep attacking.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 01:10 AM

Tshiebwe fouled.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 01:06 AM

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 01:04 AM

I was told to edit "we good" into the game thread. Therefore, if we lose, I will burn @BShark 's house down. I don't feel like this is an overreaction.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 12:57 AM

Turnovers bad. Offensive rebounds given up bad. 3-6 from the line bad. But 1-8 from 3 is probably the worst. If we are 3-8 from 3 the game is tied.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 12:50 AM

West Virginia is shooting like hell otherwise we'd be down 15.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 12:36 AM

They have almost as many offensive rebounds as we do rebounds. This is a problem.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 13, 2020 12:28 AM

6 offensive rebounds for WVU and 7 turnovers. Gotta do better than that.

Jalen Wilson officially done for the season.

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 12, 2020 11:49 PM

Who's the 4th, Braun?

In the Middle of Nowhere Game Thread • Feb 12, 2020 11:00 PM

Since our games against West Virginia tend to be somewhat contentious, I made a few tables that show the free-throw differentials and W/L records for both teams at home. West Virginia is actually 4th in free-throws per game this season and has one of the highest free-throw differentials in the country at home. Overall, Kansas has a better mean differential, but I would argue at least some if not all or more of that is attributable to having a better home record and getting fouled/shooting more free-throws at the end of games. I haven't looked into it much, however.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Marcus was a big nothing historically. I'd take Kirk's jersey based on 4 years + what should have been a national championship. Made his one free throw. Nick Collison 3-10 when it counted.

Ya. Two Final Fours and a National Championship game. 4-year player, 3rd-team All American.

Marcus was Sweet Sixteen, Round of 32, and Elite Eight. 2nd-team All American and B12 POY.

I'd take Kirk's as well, but I admit that I'm biased.

It's not about team success though when it comes to having a jersey hung. It's about individual success and accolades because quite frankly, Aaron Miles has a better resume than Kirk Hinrich does and Miles isn't up there and we don't hear his name mentioned much about it and he is still KU's all time assists leader.

Kirk Hinrich: 12.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 49.3/43.0/77.6, 141 games, 20.0 win shares

Aaron Miles: 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 41.5/34.2/75.5, 138 games, 13.4 win shares

How does he have a better resume?

Other Games • Feb 12, 2020 03:55 AM

@FarmerJayhawk I see. I don't mind UNC and I still like Roy. I've always liked the way his teams play. They play the game, they don't play the rules, and I mean that in a good way.

Other Games • Feb 12, 2020 03:37 AM

UNC loses by 17 to Wake Forest. Oof

Marcus Morris • Feb 12, 2020 03:10 AM

I don't think either of the Morris twins belong up there. Good players, but didn't have quite enough tournament or individual success to warrant a place in the rafters. Mason, Graham, Thomas Robinson. If this season's team wins a championship, I think there's an argument for Doke and/or Dotson. Maybe Marcus Garrett as well depending on this season as well as next season.

Video of the controversial foul at the end of FSU-Duke

It also looked like Hurt was pulling on the FSU player before he got the rebound. That's pretty poor from the officials.

EMPEROR OF BASKETBALL • Feb 09, 2020 02:01 AM

Ya Ted Valentine missed that call. It should have been a foul on Duke.

Even Baylor fans are saying Oklahoma St got jobbed by the officials. Yikes

EMPEROR OF BASKETBALL • Feb 09, 2020 01:36 AM

It's going back and forth. Seton Hall with Powell is a nice team.

EMPEROR OF BASKETBALL • Feb 08, 2020 08:34 PM

Maybe so, but they're still ranked in the Top 10 and not a bad team at all. If this is their worst team then honestly that's pretty impressive for their program. Also, we lost on the road, by 1 point, without Marcus Garrett down the stretch, in a game that we should have won. I think we beat them in a rematch on a neutral court.

Other Games • Feb 08, 2020 08:31 PM

Mountaineers losing at OU by 12 right now. If that holds it'll set up a rebound game for West Virginia at home against KU. Yay.
