KU going World Wide • May 02, 2015 05:46 PM

@DoubleDD Huh, Good points and good questions. You're right, 3 in a row... plus Wigs!

@brooksmd Soooooo, could this mean that Nike-Nike or Nike-Jordan is looking for another west coast team to stack since AZ cant getter dun?

@jaybate-1.0 Something tells me that we are all in for a whole season of tongue and cheek word play on Mr Rock Cheick Jayhawk. Too Funny you guys!

Cheick Trivia • May 01, 2015 10:59 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Ahhhhh! You guys are killin me!

APPARENTLY, SVI HAS GROWN THREE INCHES • May 01, 2015 10:55 PM

@wrwlumpy Oh yah I see the toes now! LOL

APPARENTLY, SVI HAS GROWN THREE INCHES • May 01, 2015 10:55 PM

@wrwlumpy Nah, it seems like Withey is bent over just a lil bit. No way is Perry as tall as Withey and he's right next to Svi

@jaybate-1.0 Dude, she was in this tv series about 7 years ago called The Black Donnelys maybe? Great stuff. Too bad it only lasted one season.

@wrwlumpy Holy cow she is a beauty! I <3 Olivia Wilde

@wrwlumpy Dude, Chalmers totally deserves his name up there. Wigs? I mean, he's gonna be an all star in the League sooner than later AND he was the first over all #1 KU pick since Manning AND the first KU ROY since Wilt.
But, he was at KU just one season. I dont think that qualifies him for rafter hanging. Just my opinion of course

@globaljaybird Might be tough going for Donovan at OKC. Durant and Westbrook will be free agents within the next year or two

@jaybate-1.0 I just want to take the opportunity to say.... Rock Cheick Jayhawk!

Diallo a Jayhawk • Apr 29, 2015 01:30 PM

@RockChalkinTexas thats awesome ;)

Lets don't forget, as I hate to Bragg. • Apr 29, 2015 01:28 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I was lucky enough to see multiple games there before I left KC. My most favorite was December 07, got to see the ring team play against Ohio. One of Rush's first games back. It was very cool.

Lets don't forget, as I hate to Bragg. • Apr 29, 2015 01:26 PM

@DoubleDD Dang, he's got range out to the 3 point line, pretty good handles for a big it seems, good shot blocker and rim rattling dunks. Good stuff!

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 01:18 PM

@Statmachine Im thinking its a very real possibility that Mickelson transfers. Doubtful he sees the court this season.

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 01:21 AM

@ralster Good point. They totally underachieved that year, and last year. Not sure if Coach Self could go 38-1 like Cal did at UK with 9 presumed OAD/TADs. I think he needs more of a balance. Talent high level athletes with experienced upperclassmen. Im guessing most on here would agree with that.
We dont need Jaylen Brown at this point. We are good. If he happens to pick KU then fine. He is a very good player, we'll take him. But it will alienate Svi and Brannen and possibly Selden in the process. In those 3 guys we have 3 very good wings. Id take Junior Selden over Frosh Brown any day and thats what we got. Brown comes to KU we risk losing one of our 3 more experienced guys then we are down even more experience the next season when Brown bails for the League.

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 01:10 AM

@ralster I think Wiggins counts. Sure he could have let him loose on more than one occasion but Wigs broke records at KU that likely wont be broken again any time soon.

P.S. Dont think we need Jaylen for the season. Sure he would be nice to have over seas

ESPN picks KU to win 12 straight • Apr 28, 2015 08:44 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Ahhh come on now. KU brings back everyone cept Oubre and BRD, KU just added Diallo and earlier Bragg. KU will have a very nice blend of experience and talent next season. #12

Diallo a Jayhawk • Apr 28, 2015 08:40 PM

@BeddieKU23 Well thats good news! We should be a tough team to beat in the Big 12, yet again.
Think I already know the answer but can Cheick come and play this summer?
Rock Cheick Jayhawk!!!

@jaybate-1.0 Huh, the old petro clothes ploy. Didnt think about that one. You're right though, its trendier to mesh basketball shoes with street clothes. Why would Adidas bail on the NBA, or let their contract expire or whatever and make an investment in the NCAA world if they didnt think it would be marketable or turn a profit for them or at least be semi competitive with Nike? Maybe they didnt have a choice in the matter. I dont know. But, what does need to happen now that Adidas is investing in college ball now is they need to get into more schools. They need to use their world wide influence and money base to chip away at the monopoly Nike has in this particular market.

@jaybate-1.0 Here's another thought. As I said before, Adidas is a world wide brand in Futbol. Basketball is primarily a US driven sport. Sure, there is Fiba and the World games and the Olympics but isnt Adidas the primary there? Yet another question, what does Adidas make in terms of revenue with soccer? Does it compare to what Nike makes with basketball in the states? Its got to, right? I mean, world wide vs the states in terms of population, its not even close. Maybe Adidas sees something in basketball that is worth it to them to invest in and try to bridge the gap with Nike. If that is their thought process, it'll take some time to make it happen. I hope KU sticks around with Adidas.

Pessimism or Reality? • Apr 28, 2015 03:55 PM

@BeddieKU23 Seriously, thats exactly why Coach Self is going to have to exercise a bit more flexibility. We wont have Coach Self's typical 5 man again next season. Diallo is more of a face up guy, not back to the basket type at all.

Pessimism or Reality? • Apr 28, 2015 03:50 PM

@HighEliteMajor HA! I love it! I'll add to the Mercedes fund.

Pessimism or Reality? • Apr 28, 2015 03:48 PM

@joeloveshawks Solid post. I agree that KU should be better next year regardless of who we get or dont get from this point on. Coach Self's best teams have been more experienced, seasoned vets. We got that this fall. What we dont have, like you said, is a solid post presence. Will Bragg be that for us in his first year? Probly not. Will Diallo give us that? Yeah, to an extent. Not like Shady or Cole or the twins, or Trob or Withey or Biid.
Im not really holding my breath that we get Diallo at this point though. I mean we've missed out on literally everyone else.
Again, our returning guys will be more experienced and I think they will be better in the fall. But, it will have to be done without a next level big man.

@Crimsonorblue22 IS that David Bowie?

@jaybate-1.0 I know you've been singing praise for Brown to KU for a while. I hope he commits to KU. Adidas just shifted focus from the NBA to NCAA a couple months ago, right? They are a world wide brand with soccer. They just need some more time to bridge the gap between them and Nike.

Dumpster Divers Of The Midwest • Apr 28, 2015 02:21 PM

@drgnslayr lol! nice

@jaybate-1.0 damm

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 11:10 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 No kiddin. Guess I wasnt paying attention. Thought he did. Oh well, its a moot point anyways now that he chose Duke.

@jaybate-1.0 Guess we will see how bad KU is going to be hurting this season when Diallo commits to Duke in a couple days.

@drgnslayr That is a very cool part of history you shared there. Thanks for that. Great stuff.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 06:14 PM

@BeddieKU23 Ah yah, good point on defense and lateral quickness. Those things have yet to be seen at the next level. Sure he had some exposure with the Nike, Jordan, Mickey D's games but can he show his skills on the other end of the ball for the whole season? Guess we'll see.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 06:10 PM

@RockkChalkk Ahhhhh! Thats great! Too funny.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 06:03 PM

@BeddieKU23 He's about 2 inches taller and 5 lbs lighter than Wigs was at KU. I think his size will translate just fine to the Div 1 game. Is he as talented and athletic over all as Wigs his freshmen year?
Even if he does pick a school away from NC, fans there wont be happy with it. He'll catch flak any decision he makes. But, if he does pick an away school, he will be further removed from all of that.
I still hope he picks KU. I don't think we need him as much as we need a pro caliber big man.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 03:01 PM

@truehawk93 So, we're probly not going to get this guy then? I still like KU's chances, especially considering our new building, new 3 man U status. I dont care what the experts say. Theyre all guessing. Only Ingram knows where he is going. If he picks KU, then holy cow that will be awesome! Regardless of where he goes, will he be the #1 pick in next years draft? Does he have that potential?

Pot and Its Impact on BB IQ? • Apr 26, 2015 06:04 PM

@HawksWin What did you say? Im too baked to understand your logic.

@drgnslayr I have wondered about this same thing myself. After Danny and ohhh, the other one that head coaches at FGCU, after we lost those guys, it seems we took a hit in the development part.
This thing with Pollard and Coach Self downtown. I hope its a gym. That would be soooo awesome. Scot could help our bigs develop low post skills without any limitations basically. That would be truly amazing. And, just to shake things up a bit, Scot could bring down any other X Jayhawk to help out. Think about Hinrich or Aaron Miles or Collins helping out our guards there. Our future bigs can also learn ball handling skills and vice versa.
That would be next level stuff there.

@jaybate-1.0 Thats awesome. I had no idea Wilt was so versatile. Never got to see him play. Much before my time. He should be the greatest player of all time, not Jordan.

@jaybate-1.0 "For example, few seem to understand that the high low post offense (aka Carolina Passing Offense) is two sub systems--one closed and one open. Again, I have been reticent about introducing this kind of analysis, because I wasn't sure anyone would care to understand things on this level."

Heck yeah I want to understand things on this level!! I love the complexity involved in the game and if I understood it better from an analytic standpoint then I could follow the pace of the game better in terms of where each guy is on the floor in relation to which position he plays and how they move through set plays and all your open/closed circuit systems.
I love it. Give me more!

@jaybate-1.0 totally off topic. What about Wilt, rebounding skill vs Bridges and Russell?

@HighEliteMajor Thanks for the updates. This guy looks like a must have for KU.

@REHawk Brannen tore a labrum I think. No bone spurs. Good points though. I have a very good feeling about Svi this season. Gonna be awesome I think.
Also, dont think we can trust Lucas and Mickelson's improvement. Theyre both 5th year seniors at their respective ceilings. Unless Im wrong about them being seniors. I honestly cant remember right now.
We NEED Diallo. And, Diallo needs KU

@sfbahawk Oh yah! I totally forgot about that one.

@wrwlumpy Wigs is a stud. Proud of him.

@wrwlumpy of course he didnt. He is THE offense for the Timberwolves and he's had a season in the big leagues to up his game.

@jaybate-1.0 Donovan to OKC? I read a headline on Espn about it but thats all I know.

@jaybate-1.0 For the Brad Stevens thing, I just meant from a very savvy coaching perspective. Is he any good? The coach at LSU?

@jaybate-1.0 AND, when the crap are all the undeclared guys going to pull the plug!? For cryin out loud.

@jaybate-1.0 Thats insane! My question is how on earth did LSU get the Nike dump trucks to back up to their doors? The LSU coach, is he sniffing the behinds of any major recruiters linked to Nike AAU programs or is he on the verge of becoming the next Brad Stevens or something?

@drgnslayr PHOF! Lets make it happen!
