@PharmacyHawk What is so righteous about the stance? We are acting as if Morris had gone 10 years without any issues and this 2nd chance was well-deserved.

His first case JUST settled. This entire thing was slimy and greasy AF. The fact that the decision came down to DePaul (who has a total greaseball staff rn) and KU says a lot about KU.

I said this all the way back in July that if Bill is willing to take him on Bill should be willing to bet his job that he won't do anything wrong while here. That is how sure he should have been that Morris was a changed man.

Bill will face literally no consequences for having recruited a rapist to campus and I'm supposed to just shrug my shoulders? Do you really not think Bill deserves ANY criticism for this?

Have you ever heard of being Responsible for your own Actions ? - - keep YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE it's not up to Self to Babysit these kids. They are suppose to be young adults, he can't be each and everyone of these guys pesoanl babysitter -

Are you even allowed within 100 feet of a playground?

Pretty classless man. I think your viewpoints are asinine, but you're totally within your right to have em'.

Hey man if you want to condemn the coaching staff and Bill go for it, you can do whatever you'd like, I really don't care. It isn't gonna change a thing for me and my support for this program.

Look through my history, I said in April I didn't like it, but I trusted the staffs judgement. My stance on their judgement hasn't changed because there is simply too much information I do not know and nothing from past decisions changes my mind. Morris had an incident with sexual assault, which I honestly skimmed through, but it sounded like a lot of immaturity at the time - NOTHING that read as omg rapist.

And yeah, I don't think he deserves any criticism. I imagine the guy is probably pretty damn upset with himself and the whole situation. You can shrug your shoulders or not. You do you.

No, Bill Self recruited a known predator to campus. And he should be scrutinized as having done so. How he handles the situation is irrelevant, he created the situation in the first place.

Take the inevitable settlement check out of Bill's salary.

That's not going to happen, nor should it, but hey bang on that righteous drum all day my man.

I disagree wholeheartedly that this was handled by Bill and KU well. To each their own opinion though.

He was brought into the school and into basketball program before his previous case had resolved. A day after everyone got lucky the case was dropped, he was suspended from the program for the Rape Allegation and is now charged with such.

There is no way you can convince me this was handled correctly. Try explaining to the victim and the family that any of this is okay.

Texas Hawk 10 isn't suggesting that the act Morris committed is okay, just that the way Bill handled the ordeal was handled about as good as you could given the circumstances. Do you really think Bill/KU are "okay" with any of this? Come on. We can all continue this tired debate on whether Bill should have or should not have given Morris a second chance, but this was Morris's action and his alone. Horrible situation all around and my heart goes out to the victim. Thank goodness he is gone.

Quick Edit: The script could also have flipped to where Morris gets his head straight and learns how to be a better man under the staff here. It unfortunately didn't go that way, but Morris only has himself to blame for that.

Here we go.. someone said a bad word, thank god we have so many social justice warriors able to come to the rescue of all us fragile people that cant handle it and make sure this bad person is punished as if he is the flesh and blood of satan himself.

Wait... are you seriously suggesting that what he did was appropriate? How would you feel if Bill said that? It's not just a bad word my man, it's a slur being used to attack a group of people. His statement was ignorance at best and malice at worst...

Thank you for proving my point, that was way easier than I thought. You suggesting I said what he did was appropriate is an extreme twisting of words against me. Just like society is going to do to Huggins. 80% of the headlines I read this morning say he said a "homophobic slur." Luckily they haven't changed the definition of 'phobia' yet, it still means "an uncontrollable, irrational, and lasting fear of a certain object, situation, or activity." Sounds to me like Huggins was trying to do some ribbing towards a rival school and had a bad word choice. He has always seemed like a bit of a jerk and this incident supports that even more. However, if could have just added some music to the background when he said it and called himself a music artist and then he could have literally said anything and it would be considered acceptable by society. There is nothing off limits for the music industry, in fact its considered "art."

I mean this with all due respect, but you really need to re-read what I said originally. I merely asked for you to clarify what you said. You ignored both of my questions, and that's fine, but I never twisted your words. Society certainly doesn't need to twist his words, he was very clear how he felt about the situation, which he certainly has freedom to say what he wants to say, but that doesn't mean there are no repercussions (getting into the semantics of “phobia” is ridiculous, the word has a hateful intent to it at worst and ignorant at best, and I still stand by that). If someone came into my pharmacy and said that I'd immediately tell them I never want to hear that from them again or they would not be welcome at my store, regardless of whether or not they were playing music to a sick beat of it or not. Come on man, that's nonsense. Whether something is "acceptable by society" or not doesn't mean anything to me. There's right and wrong. He was wrong.

I'm not calling for the guy to get fired and I never said that, but I do think that he needs to be held accountable, which is what I think most were calling for. That's fair.

Arterio Morris is a Jayhawk • Apr 30, 2023 12:48 AM

He's a Jayhawk now. I'll support him and root for him unless he gives me reason not to, no different than the other players.

I said it before, but unless KU was seriously interested in Morris they wouldn't have ever had him on campus. You don't let that PR nightmare on campus unless you basically want and need him.

I expect him to announce he's a Jayhawk on Friday.

Ugh, where’s the dislike button.

This makes us look desperate. Not a good place to be.

In Bill we trust? I agree with you otherwise though...

Mercy seen in a draft off CBS that had Ochai going # 7 to the Kings. Mercy , now come on be honest who in Earth would of ever thought Ochai would EVER have a chance to be drafted that high when he 1st stepped foot on Campus?- I figured he would be solid/good but projected at # 7 ? - Jumpin Gee Hossie Fats Maynard.

Also saw they had Christan as the # 25th pick going to the Spurs - - Awesome

That's awesome! Hopefully that holds. It really speaks to Och's work ethic and how much he improved during his time here. Also, what a cool story for a Kansas kid out of Burlington who lead his HS team to 3 straight state titles, a natty, and now he gets a chance at the league. So jealous (I'll just blame my bad jump shot on being 5'8" 165, right?....right...?)!

Definitely gonna miss both of these guys.
Especially Christian's fire. I loved seeing that from a Kansas kid!

@BShark I know it's a pipedream, but I'm hoping to have Hunter fill the 2 spot. I know he is also a smaller guard, but he was a great defender last year and was a huge part of ISU making it as far in the tourney as they did. Bill has shown he loves having two primary ball handlers on the floor at the same time, but I'm not sure how Hunter feels about sharing PG duties with Juan. From what little I've heard, Tyrese wasn't sold on the idea of playing with Juan, but I don't really know.

If that doesn't work out, then maybe Malachi Smith? Terrific rebounder and a go to bucket getter. I haven't seen him announce any kind of list of interested parties, but I'd be very surprised if we haven't reached out already. This of course would mean someone has to be shown the door unfortunately, but Mosley + Hunter/Smith would be at the top of my wishlist.

Long time lurker here, but I couldn't stay silent any longer. Those above me who feel booing their own team is ok, that we should immediately fire our coach, that our players don't care, etc etc - just stop. It's people like you that I never go back to that other site as it runs rampant there. Win, lose, we are Jayhawks. I've been a fan since my dad took me to the Phog as a little guy and fell in love with it all. Went to school there for 6 years and camped for every single game. Had great wins and hard losses, but that's part of the game. I completely understand it's upsetting, but to target and boo your own team? Sad. Hell I think leaving early is sad. You know this is wrong and if you don't, well, you're just another privileged fan KU has so many of.

These guys bust their ass all year long. They clearly played hurt today, show at least a modicum of respect.

Sorry for the rant and I hate that this is my first post... just something I'm passionate about. Rock Chalk.
