@HighEliteMajor

Good points. We certainly have a nice roster and really good talent.

I believe @jaybate-1.0 "stacks" is referring to the silly recruiting classes of UK and Dook in particular. Classes that feature four or five kids in the top 10 in the same class.

Time Warner Jim Marchiony Response • Dec 29, 2015 03:36 PM

My 73 year old mother emailed Kuathletics@ku.edu about the time warner deal and this is the reply she got from Jim Marchiony's email.

We want to acknowledge your email about the Jayhawk Television Network. First, thank you for being a KU fan; we appreciate you. Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back to you. You've done nothing wrong, and it's not that you're "unworthy"!

We understand and appreciate your concern, and want to take a minute to explain why we've done what we've done with the Network.

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is indeed the exclusive local carrier in the K.C. area and the state of Kansas of six (two exhibitions, four non-conference) out of what we hope will be 40 or so KU men's basketball games. Fans can see all the other KU games as they always have. (The four regular-season games are against Northern Colorado, Loyola of Maryland, Holy Cross and Montana...Montana was the last game this season to be under this arrangement.)

Why the exclusivity for these few games? For its part, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel has committed to broadcast live some 50 other KU events in sports such as women's basketball, women's volleyball, women's soccer, softball, baseball, tennis, and swimming and diving. Time Warner has made arrangements to show the six basketball games and all of these other games on cable systems all across the state of Kansas. You can see a list of those systems at the following link:
http://kuathletics.com/sports/2013/6/21/GEN_0621130651.aspx#Channel. ↗

ESPN3 will archive each affected game, and fans will be able watch them on ESPN3 at their leisure, beginning about a half-hour after each game ends. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will also show replays of every KU home men's basketball game, as well as any game that appears on CBS or an ESPN network.

Additionally, ESPN3 will broadcast all these events live nationally outside the Kansas City area and the state of Kansas. ESPN3 will also televise - to the entire nation with no blackouts - 20 additional KU contests; this adds up to about 75 appearances for KU on ESPN3. For most Kansas Athletics programs, all of this represents important, unprecedented statewide and national coverage.

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will also annually carry some 300 hours of new, innovative, KU-themed shows across the state, and will also make that programming available nationally to millions of Time-Warner subscribers. That will bring great new national coverage of Kansas and highlight the KU brand in new ways - and not just the Athletics brand, the University's brand. Again - important, unprecedented national coverage for KU. This programming includes:

. Pre- and post-game shows for home and away Jayhawk football and men's basketball games
. Jayhawk Insider, a weekly magazine-style show
. Hawk Talk Radio Show simulcasts
. #RockChalkTV, a social media-centered show driven by fans
. Live press conferences
. A Jayhawk Legends series, and
. University of Kansas academic specials.

We give you this detail to emphasize that this decision is about local, statewide and national exposure for our 500+ student-athletes.

Yes, this agreement alters the local broadcasting arrangement of a small minority of KU games, something we did not take lightly. But we feel it is well worth the tremendously increased exposure KU will receive locally, statewide and nationally.

Thank you again for caring enough to send us your thoughts; we hope you can appreciate what this arrangement means for our coaches and student-athletes.

Go Jayhawks!

Is the crossing gone, too? I walked/biked past there every day! They had a small pool table that you could make the eight ball on the break pretty easily back in the day...

Louise's west and yellow sub CLASSICS!!!

We also frequented Louise's downtown, the Bottleneck for live music and Quinton's on Mass St for lunch/dinner (1/2 TAC sandwich and Wisconsin Cheddar soup in bread bowl.).

@nuleafjhawk

Pure genius!

From the other site.

"Obviously, they’re bigger than what we’re used to playing against,” Self said of the Anteaters, who start 7-foot-6, 300-pound junior Mamadou Ndiaye and 6-10, 215-pound senior Mike Best. Jonathan Galloway, a 6-10, 235-pound freshman, and Ioannis Dimakopoulos, a 7-2, 262-pound junior, contribute off the bench.

“The big kid (Ndiaye) is a good player. He’s putting up good numbers (12.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 40 blocked shots). They are capable of giving us all kinds of problems because it’s going to be hard to score inside over all that length,” Self said. “(He’s) 7-6 tall, but probably an 8-foot wingspan. We’ll never see that again. Then you come in with their short guy at 7-2, which is unbelievable how long they are.”

Macro vs. Micro, Myopia, and Feelings • Dec 28, 2015 05:29 AM

@HighEliteMajor

One point that I don't believe has been made about you is that you absolutely DESPISE the OAD!!! So I don't believe you're advocating for reduced minutes for JamTray just so we get more OAD recruits.

I believe you are advocating for more minutes for Diallo & Bragg b/c they are already statistically BETTER than JamTray now! And giving them more minutes to learn now will also get them to an even higher level come March/April when it REALLY MATTERS!!!

For the record, I love JamTray. He's a Jayhawk for life. I just don't think he should play very much. And Lucas, too. Personally, I'd give all the minutes to Perry, Mick, Bragg and Diallo.

Self Playing "Whac-A-Mole" • Dec 07, 2015 10:05 AM

@DoubleDD

Nailed it!

Personally, I'd sit Jam Tray and Lucas for all but mop up duty or if Mick, Diallo and Bragg get in serious foul trouble.

Start Mick now until Diallo is ready to start no later than Jan 15.

Put all your eggs in the Mick, Diallo & Bragg basket and win the national championship!!!

You may not know this about @VailHawk but I'm a player-coach on our church basketball team that plays in the B league on Tuesday nites!

Yes yes I know it's almost like playing/coaching at Kansas!

But in all seriousness, when we only have 8-9 guys show up it is MUCH easier to get everyone minutes and we play MUCH better overall.

Speaking of BG • Dec 05, 2015 05:00 PM

I was court side in Boulder 12-7-13 to see our Hawks run out for warm-ups....Wiggs...Selden....BG.....all raw freshmen coming off a disappointing trip to the Burmuda Triangle (remember that awful gym?) but I digress!

I commented on @Jesse-Newell's now defunct in game blog that BG looked like the 2nd coming of Scottie Pippen. He seriously looked like Pippen while running around during warm-ups!

However, we've now all seen the lack of lateral movement on defense where his feet are seemingly stuck in place. Now the question I have is how much can lateral foot speed/movement be improved on? I'm sure it's been addressed by Hudy, right?

Is it an unwillingness on BG's part to improve his defense? Or is it a physical limitation? I assume Hudy gets these kids as close to their current age ceiling as possible, right?

For the record, I think BG's 2nd half minutes were halted against MSU bc he said something to HCBS when taken out around 15:00. So when people say he didn't get enough minutes that game I think that was his fault and not Self's.

RCJHGKU!

I trust you guys!!! So you're probably right. I'm just brand loyal bc of my upbringing.

I bought a Toro self propelled lawn mower and weed eater in 2006 when we moved into our new home and both have run flawlessly since. Don't know if I've even changed the oil yet...hmmm maybe I should next spring!

Low end Toro is no bueno. Move up to 2nd level (non big box) and they make excellent mowers and weed eaters
