The Naismith COY since 1989 is a voting process and similar to the Heisman Trophy it's subject to personal beliefs or feelings instead of just facts. Is there a prevailing east coast bias for instance. I don't know if the Atlanta Tipoff Club has made the award a stale and diminished event like the Heisman has. I can't think of a coach who will be able to surpass Self's sustained excellence. When Rick Pitino recently lost to KU he said Bill has no weakness in his in game coaching that can be exploited.
