@HighEliteMajor I don't think he was questioning Henners cuteness...

I know I was confused and disoriented when the word cute was used for Andrea. Shes not unattractive. I might more expect words like "Strong", "sharp-looking", "female"? You might say that "we are unlikely to get another conditioning coach that is as female as Andrea". It is a spectrum these days :) I'm trolling.

@jayballer73 ok, maybe 58th. That would put him just about 5th favorite on his team.

@approxinfinity Final Four. One got KU there, one player cost KU one.

I'd argue EJ was a big reason we made the Final in 2012 though. I did very much appreciate EJ, and that he played out of position for us and was money in that tournament. I think he also played hurt a large part of his time at Kansas

Devon β€’ Aug 30, 2019 02:20 AM

@dylans Tyshawn doesn't make my list because he was a knucklehead for the better part of his time here and he could not shoot the three. EJ doesnt make it because of the Mitch McGary nut punch.

Devon β€’ Aug 30, 2019 12:31 AM

@mayjay where is Brady on your list? I think hes about 85th on mine.

@HighEliteMajor haha I didn't see any of those on the list youre referring to :) he did have Adonis Jordan on there and I believe you did as well. I was surprised and didn't realize that he had a big impact on the program. He was before I followed the program.

Devon β€’ Aug 28, 2019 07:37 PM

@Marco whyd you delete? I liked your list

Devon β€’ Aug 28, 2019 02:03 AM

@rockchalkwyo @HighEliteMajor let me play.

1 Frank. His story is great. Overcame hard obstacles. Gives back to Petersburg now. Love the dude.

2 Mario. Ice cold.

3 Devonte. BIG shoes to fill. Sucked in Franks final game. Came back hard and led the team the following year to the FF.

4 B Rush. Most reliable corner 3.

Underrated D on CDR. I remember the first game he played, reverse jam full speed in transition. Felt the defender on his hip and did what had to be done. Awesome.

5/6/7 Darnell/Sasha/Russ Rob. These are all interchangeable. Team was so good. Those guys were the heart. Darrell and Sherron were the most talented and I appreciate that. But they aren't what I see when I close my eyes and think of that team.

8 Svi. Worked hard and was so money his senior year. Drilling threes against Kentucky and Duke were highlights.

9/10/11 TomRob, Withey and Releford. Loved the toughness of that team. Those guys worked hard and got better year over year. Tom Rob was a double double machine, Withey a block party, Releford a lockdown defender that improved his shooting year over year.

I guess the KC tv market is #32, there aren't many bigger markets that don't have a team:

Is this a good thing? If the guy wants to spend money instead of stockpiling talent to rebuild, he's going to have to be in a city where this is an affordable strategy...

Not first time a Kansas transfer played QB for VT either

Kelvin Herrera β€’ Aug 22, 2019 02:42 AM

@wissox I'm ok with it right now because Eaton has been hot, our top 3 starters should be dominant come playoffs if Scherzer comes back healthy, and our bullpen was bolstered at the deadline and should be good if Ross and Fedde move to long relief, we cut Matt Grace, and possibly move Rainey, Strickland or Hudson into closer role in lieu of Doolittle.

We've scored 11 or more in 5 of the last 7 games.

I'm glad Giolito is working out for you. Since our starters have been good I always thought of him as a trade chip for help in the bullpen. Losing Treinen and Filipe Vasquez hurt a little more because they are now All Star relievers.

Kelvin Herrera β€’ Aug 22, 2019 01:52 AM

@wissox Yeah, we didn't trade much to get him from the Royals, but he was bad and then injured for us (Nats)

We Can Guard The Three Point Line - Period β€’ Aug 12, 2019 12:13 AM

Here's the article to which I was referring btw: https://kenpom.com/blog/3point-defense-should-not-be-defined-by-opponents-3p/ β†—

Rereading it, I really like the point that kenpom makes in his very last sentence...

Teams have much more control over how many three’s their opponents shoot than how many they make.

This also may be telling of the critical flaw in any statistical analysis he did. How can anyone quantify how many times a shooter touches the ball and wants to shoot but doesnt feel like he is open, so does not?

We Can Guard The Three Point Line - Period β€’ Aug 11, 2019 04:11 PM

@HighEliteMajor how far things have come on this in a few years. I remember KenPom articles showing the scatterplots and averages on teams 3pt %s against "good" and "bad" defensive teams attempting to prove that defensive impact against good 3pt shooting was statistically insignificant. It felt like fact at the time.

I agree with you. It HAS to be possible to defend good 3 pt shooting teams better. But are there in depth statistical analyses like the aformentioned that prove this point?

Site Feeds - Discuss? β€’ Aug 10, 2019 04:29 PM

This cadence already seems too high without the category marked as ignore for everyone. Going to throttle it down to 2 stories every 12 hours.

Site Feeds - Discuss? β€’ Aug 10, 2019 04:20 PM

@ajvan It doens't look like they have rss feeds available on their site. Good thought.

Here's what I have it set at currently. Also, if there are others sources you guys would be interested in, let me know

Site Feeds - Discuss? β€’ Aug 10, 2019 03:38 PM

Hey guys! I set up separate categories for rss feeds from other sites for basketball and football.

I wanted to test this out for a few days (as things are slow) and get your opinions on them.

If you don't want these posts to show up in your recent feed, it looks like the way to do this is to go to the category and change the dropdown on the right from watching to ignoring. You can still then navigate to the feed via categories.

I could write some mongo to set all existing users to Ignore for these categories if this seems like a good solution (see stream rate comment in next paragraph as alternative). I personally don't want the recent feed to get flooded, but still think the feeds could add value. It would be nice possibly to promote them (i.e. move them) to a watched category if someone sees a story they want to move over?

Also, I have control of the rate that these stories are released to our site. i.e. I can throttle it to only 1,2,4 stories at a time and every minute, hour, 12 hours, 48 hours or week. So, if we want a little trickle of stories we can do that too.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think. I thought we might be able to find a nice (not overwhelming) setting for external sources. Or not!

More Kids Need Trade School.... β€’ Aug 09, 2019 02:08 PM

@Marco one beautiful educated Australian bartender woman didn't want to talk to you, and so Americans shouldn't have more affordable higher education.... :fish:yyyyyyy....

More Kids Need Trade School.... β€’ Aug 09, 2019 01:35 PM

@Marco even if there were a correlation to making education cheaper and more people not using their education in lieu of taking unskilled jobs, it would not necessarily be the same people that education would be made affordable for.

Also, assuming that a large number of people would spend years getting a degree to not attempt to use it professionally is hard to believe.

Furthermore a more educated populace is a good thing, employment aside.

Board upgraded. β€’ Aug 08, 2019 04:27 AM

@ICThawk sure. I just switched the board's default skin to Readable. I honestly could not remember which skin we had it set to on the old version. Give that a shot and tell me if that looks better. If not, you can override the default in your personal settings here: /user/icthawk

If you find one that works better, let us know? I'll check it out. I went through some of them but not all of them.

I must admit, recently I've ctrl-scrollwheeled up to make the font a little bigger and moved on. These new bifocals I'm wearing are more like nonfocals. I'd definitely be interested in switching skins if one of the others look better.

Ok! Board is on latest and greatest version of NodeBB. Now to clean up a bit. I need to get all the plugins up to latest, so things like emojis, embedded images / videos, post previews, etc work.

The good news is, scrolling in threads now works pretty well (previously, getting to past pages didnt work well at all). And it looks like the search index is right so you can finally look up old posts from yesteryear fairly accurately! (knock on wood).

Let me know what works and what doesn't and I will sort it out.
