NBA MAVINS - HELP ME OUT. • Oct 20, 2016 12:14 AM

@wrwlumpy wow. Michael Jordan and co have managed to assemble another roster that is Middling at best.

Dickie V's top 40 • Oct 19, 2016 12:02 AM

@brooksmd I didn't realize that being a great player was not a prerequisite for player of the year.

Cubbies • Oct 18, 2016 04:07 AM

@globaljaybird haha. well they paid him a lot, I guess they gotta put him somewhere. Doesn't matter they're toast at this point. Now if the cubbies can put away the other team of hired guns....

Cubbies • Oct 17, 2016 12:20 PM

@globaljaybird it wouldn't be the first time a professional team in Cleveland won a rigged post season game this year :grinning:

@BeddieKU23 Colangelo has been drafting best available talent half a decade in Philly . They need to move Okafor and Noel this year. I would expect a showcase early on to prime any buyers for Okafor and then a sale, then maybe Noel at the deadline. Not before this season is in the toilet. Nobody is buying this early. and they're not going to get the value they want in a straight up young talented guard. It's going to be picks. So the season is done before it began.

I don't understand why they didn't either move some of that best available talent on draft days to fold them back into picks or try to draft at least few guards with high upside. what was the point of MCW? It's just stupid and painful.

You're right. Nobody wants to be in Philly and I hope Embiid gets the hell out.

Cubbies • Oct 17, 2016 04:13 AM

@globaljaybird no Kershaw tears.... Yet.

My favorite shirt is a Kansas nike t-shirt. It has about 20 holes in it, and has been demoted to work out shirt, but it still hangs on in the rotation... maybe just long enough to see it get replaced by another Kansas nike shirt.

A request. • Oct 15, 2016 03:46 AM

@globaljaybird I dunno. has me scratching my head. but bedtime now, will have to wait.

A request. • Oct 15, 2016 03:28 AM

@globaljaybird no, no luck. their upgrade path is hairy, doesn't just work for older versions, unfortunately.

Yeah, I can't stand the jays, was glad to see Kluber take care of business. Pulling for Tribe vs Cubs. Ideally would like to see Kershaw cry.

A request. • Oct 14, 2016 11:58 PM

@globaljaybird agree 100% dusty lost his mind yesterday. It was extremely painful.

A request. • Oct 14, 2016 11:16 PM

@globaljaybird Was a rough meltdown end of 6th on :frowning:

A request. • Oct 14, 2016 11:08 PM

@globaljaybird Actually, I have to revert some stuff, so it will be a while. I'll holler when all clear.

A request. • Oct 14, 2016 10:57 PM

@globaljaybird K, yeah I have it down at the minute, running the upgrade scripts... Thanks man. Give me a few and then let er rip again, k?

Cody Riley decides today • Oct 14, 2016 07:32 PM

It's UCLA.

OK, I think I'm going to upgrade the new site to the latest version of the board and see how that works. Maybe it fixes some of our issues. Will let you know when that is done. Thanks guys.

A request. • Oct 14, 2016 02:41 AM

if anybody has a few moments would you mind testing out the new board at new.kubuckets.com and see if you can find any serious issues with it?

Rolling with the old for now. • Oct 13, 2016 12:39 PM

Ok, so... the new server is having problems. I've switched back to the old, and we'll stay here for a while until I can figure out what's going on with the new.

I've set up two subdomains that point at the two...

old.kubuckets.com
new.kubuckets.com

If we're even in this situation again, the plan will be that these two will be our fallback options.

Ha, well, in the interest of continuity I decided to have a heart and spin up a clone of the old server, and update the clone, so that both boards could live side by side, and people could grab their stuff off the old one if there were deltas worth preserving ,or at least worth reading.

This post is now obsolete and exists only for historical purposes. We switched over and then switched back after some issues.

The DNS change is in. That means kubuckets.com now points at the new server.

However, if you're reading this you're on the old server. Propogation will take place shortly, and the address will start taking us over to the mongo instance of the board, as generated from a file taken last night at 9pm.

Thereafter, this instance of the board will still be available for a while at old.kubuckets.com if you want access to threads/comments made in between. I'll leave it up for a couple days as we make sure mongo is working well for us.

Data Loss • Oct 12, 2016 04:59 PM

@Bwag lol that worked out well then. Baptism by data loss

This evening TODAY will go away! • Oct 12, 2016 04:57 PM

a reminder that everything from 9pm yesterday on will cease to be when I move the board to mongo tonight.

Can you guys please back up anything you want to save and move it over?

C5 at 9/16 was not the problem • Oct 12, 2016 04:35 PM

@jaybate-1.0 great post. Meaning also is heavily related to language and the implicit context that is attached to each word as per the audience. "Sky god", as you said, makes Yawheh feel foreign to us, while God comes with implied context and feels more entrenched and undeconstructable. Just by changing the language you open up the possibility of new ideas, just as changing the tuning of a guitar might facilitate a new melody.

Self On Point... • Oct 12, 2016 02:33 PM

@justanotherfan You're absolutely right. I think Baylor should rename the Ferrell Center, "the Self Center".

C5 at 9/16 was not the problem • Oct 12, 2016 01:26 PM

@jaybate-1.0 :100:

I believe this access to total information has changed our psychology about information. No longer can a piece of information be devastating, because we recognize it as only a piece, and maybe also we no longer perceive it as immutable. The soundbyte gotcha age is behind us. Contrast Howard Dean's Howl to Trump's "Grab em by the _____". Everything is now contextual, which is more realistic, but attempting to frame the context, rather than finding the news, is where the pundits butter their bread.

With the mass proliferation of available perceptions, any piece of information, which used to be perceived as concrete, is now abstract. It is an incomplete object without opinions attached to it. I wonder if most people are uncomfortable handling information that has not already had an opinion attached.

@mayjay :smile: my favorite movie.

Thanks man. In this case, I attribute the problem to that I planned to do the usual upgrades over the Summer and then slacked on it. I feel bad for disrupting the football guys, and for losing status points for ppl. This should never happen again with the mongo writes being immediate once we are converted.

I also will upgrade the board to latest of all looks good. Hopefully we get some new bells and whistles to play with.

@Lulufulu I've chuckled at your post three times now. The hand wringing we went through about Center! Man. This thread represents about 30 others lengthy ones like it.

Data Loss • Oct 12, 2016 02:47 AM

Haha good one!

Data Loss • Oct 12, 2016 01:03 AM

Alright I'm going to take a dump in just a minute then send it to Julian. Henceforth we are in the disposable zone!

Data Loss • Oct 12, 2016 12:17 AM

@mayjay2 check your email for this first email address now.

If anyone else is having problems with password please let me know.

@drgnslayr you're right about that!

@wrwlumpy lol awesome. Thank you guys for not ripping my head off and rolling with this even finding humor in it. I have had pneumonia for a week and when I did the power cycle and realized the backup of the server was missing data, I thought it was just more crap that I didn't know how to deal with.

You have made my day!

Data Loss • Oct 11, 2016 07:22 PM

I initially thought I'd be able to do it from my work machine but there was a problem.... Hence the misdirection.

Data Loss • Oct 11, 2016 07:19 PM

Guys you can talk freely. It appears the backup is writing fine at the moment. I will pull latest when I send over and I will let you know when that happens.

Data Loss • Oct 11, 2016 02:07 PM

Yeah you're right the board has been pretty non confrontational of late.... Think some of the early side of that lost data was pretty chippy, so lost some good, some bad.

ok whz up? • Oct 11, 2016 02:03 PM

Data Loss • Oct 11, 2016 01:07 PM

I'm going to get help from the nodebb guys in upgrading our dump file to mongodb, but what that means is that any changes to the data between that now and when i restore with mongo will be lost. happy thoughts! glad this happened before basketball season.

Data Loss • Oct 11, 2016 12:36 PM

It looks like we've lost 9 months worth of data. What appears to have happened is that the redis dump (the on disk back up of our data) was no longer being updated by the board periodically as it should have been, so that data was only surviving in memory. This may be because our data has gotten massive, and so when I power cycled the board this AM because it appeared laggy, assuming everything would be groovy, poof. And when I pulled the backup from 7 hours ago... Well. No unpoof

The authors of node bb had suggested I move over from redis to mongo but I had not attempted to migrate the data as of yet. I think this is probably an appropriate time to do so and upgrade the board to latest, since we lost a bunch of data anyway.

Sorry about this guys. I will look at upgrading as soon as I can.

Let his critics doubt him.

Time to focus on TCU and go America all over their asses.

Press Break: Not Brain Surgery • Jan 13, 2016 04:10 AM

I believe Hunter was in the game from the 16:18 to 14:06 mark of the second half (our 9-0 run), but then disappeared to the bench ne'ery to be seen again. Where was Hunter?

Our backcourt forgot how protect the rock, our defense was porous against the drive, and we were outrebounded badly on the defensive glass.

You know what blows my mind? We shot 10-20 from 3, and they shot 3-12.

But, hats off to Huggins. They took it to us. And playing in Morgantown will be a good ego check for our guys for years to come.

@nuleafjhawk I believe the correct form is "bud-person"

So without digging in too much, I'm seeing new visitors as about consistent but a big spike in total sessions on Tuesday and average session length up about 50% over the last week. Yay conference play!

@bskeet agreed it has seemed very active and its nice to hear some new voices. I'll check the analytics soon.

@brooksmd woh woh woh TMI!

Got a serious question • Jan 05, 2016 09:23 PM

At this point I see it as very likely. Cheick said before coming to KU that the max he planned to spend in Lawrence was 2 years. To me that means he has already planned on it, if the reason why is because he is raw and playing on a loaded and successful team of veterans.

Oklahoma vs Kansas Chat • Jan 05, 2016 05:04 AM

That close out by Frank on last play was the exact same thing he did earlier and was called for foul. Bill must have made nice nice with the refs. I guess after 3 hours he grows on ya.
