This is exactly the kind of game we thought we'd get from Texas at the start of the season... except we thought we'd have Alexander.

The problem I see is that the NCAA can do this with impunity.
They approved Cliff. Once the NCAA makes most decisions, the decision is final. Why is this one different?
Bringing something forward in the middle of the season means that they can manipulate the game of which they are supposed to protect the integrity.
KU has no choice. NCAA plants the seed of doubt and if KU decides to ignore it, they can take everything away. If KU complies, NCAA might come back and say "never mind" or might not.
So many good coaches in the B12 that every little fissure in a team is being exposed and exploited.
They all know each other's weaknesses and are trying to place their swords directly in the chink in the armor.
A must win, suddenly made more challenging.

Anyone care to speculate on WTF is going on? How often does the NCAA swoop in and question the eligibility of a player mid-season? And what happens to the games he's played in if he's deemed ineligible?

Yes, K-state won a game. Yes, the post-game events stirred emotions, got the blood flowing through the veins a bit faster, and stimulated a lot of media attention and viral videos and blogs.
But sorry, it's not enough to make it a real rivalry in my book.
If this team wins the next three games -- against two top 20 teams and Texas (top 30-40) -- they deserve the title.
And they are guaranteed a share of it.
