Then I read they're considering trading to Philly for their 3rd plus some change so that Philly can get Fultz.
Has anyone seen a link to a video of this scrimmage anywhere?
@REHawk Man if he stays healthy...goodness. What a beast.
The coach's box will extend by 10 feet! β
They're also making a change to when instant replay can be used, but what they SHOULD be saying is that replay can't last any longer than 60 seconds. If they can't figure it out by then, the call on the floor stands.
Drawing charges: A defensive player should be required to make a defensive play (not just moving to a spot and standing there) to be able to draw a foul.
Legal screen: Screener's feet must not be wider than his shoulders. I like it!
I still think a team should be able to accept or decline penalties (free throws) in the last 1:30 of the game. If the team declines, they get to take the ball out at the spot of the foul with a 10-second runoff. Or they take it out in the backcourt while the other team can't cross halfcourt (until the ball crosses). Would have kept us from winning the '08 title and the West Virginia game, but also would've gotten us to the Final Four against Michigan. And who knows what else I'm forgetting.
I do wonder if it's the cause of our injuries. Probably also the cause of our success too, so pick your poison I guess.
βProbably just how hard everything is when we play. Just how hard coach (Self) coaches,β Cunliffe said, βand the no fouls in practice, no out of bounds. You just have to play hard all the time. Itβs kind of like a playground-type atmosphere when weβre playing. Itβs pretty cool, too.β

I think this is the first time I've heard of this! I've heard of 5 on 7, but not this. Is this why people keep getting injured in practice?

Maybe its just me, but I never thought of Frank as a 3 point threat. He wasn't like B-Mac or B-Green where if they touched it at the trey without someone in their face it was a free 3 points.
To me, it looked like 99% of Frank's 3s were completely unguarded. His defender left him to help on the drive or to rebound and Frank was left standing alone at the 3 point line. Part of that is his crazy driving and finishing abilities that forced teams to not close out on him hard. But part of it, was the thought he wasn't that great of a 3 point shooter.
I seem to remember some wide open shots but also him shooting off the dribble behind Landen's double screens. He did that really well.
Either way, plenty of players who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if left wide open, so I was pleased with his %.

First, regardless of what conference KU plays in, it would not be playing elsewhere, it would still be playing in Lawrence, Kansas and that seemed to be an issue with some players that prefer the coasts.
If we played in the ACC or even Big 10, we would play more teams on the coasts, and I do think that would help us.
Second, KU has a lot of players coming back and not a lot of potential playing time available which naturally limits the recruits that wil be interested, regardless of conference affiliation.
Third, the rankings do not count transfers which are now an important source of players. Had they counted Cunliffe and Whitman KU is probably top 10. Next season, if KU does not sign anyone else other than the 3 players that will be eligible, the Lawsons and Moore, and based on their ratings, and more importantly experience, KU class would likely be ranked top 10 but under the current ranking it would not even be listed. Someone needs to come up with a ranking that considers all incoming players.
Agreed, I realize that KU has a lot of transfers and the impact that has. Playing time, etc. The lack of success in other Big XII schools is alarming and indicate of conference/region issues.
Last, how changing conferences would change anything for KU? KU is ranked low on the rankings you cited but as shown above they are grossly misleading and would not be any different if KU played in the ACC or any other conference. Did you notice that Texas and Big 12 member is ranked #5, defending champion and ACC member UNC #17 and and previous defending champion and Big East member Villanova #25? Maybe the last two should change conferences?
Yeah but ACC, SEC, BIG 10, and PAC 12 all outrecruited the Big 12 right?
@ParisHawk I think that was @approxinfinity 's point. I agree, I just think we'd be even higher if we played elsewhere. You can't tell me Self didn't seeing and miss on a few without conference coming into play in the decision making
@approxinfinity I guess not as concerned about us as I am our conference. Confident we'd be a bit stronger even with all the transfers if we were in a better conference
KU is ranked 35th in the country! Behind Texas, ISU, OU, and TCU! Only one Big XII school (Texas) in the top 25. Gotta get out of this conference.

Let's hope he figures out how to play some defense.
Key to where?
I guess Frank Mason was asked how he wants to die?
Does Frank know this is an NBA combine and not an NFL combine?!!0_1494604212934_Capture.PNG β
I'm convinced, put us on the east coast and we're gold.
Who has the most transfers? KU is getting some nice transfers, so that plays into it. Not sure why they're coming to KU instead of the coasts, but we'll take them.
We ARE the Midwest, like it or not, and we're an unstable conference as mentioned above, so that doesn't help us. I'm starting to think we should be thankful to be in as many elite eights as we have. Not surprising that we don't know what to do when we see real talent and size. (We see it annually at Baylor but the coaching negates it.)
Elite eight, here we come!
Damn I love the dude's strength and post moves!
Don't know if this article has been posted, but I thought a good write-up of Self's transfer strategy. http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/bill-self-loads-up-on-transfers-to-try-and-get-kansas-deeper-into-the-ncaa-tournament/amp/ β
What's the latest on Duval?
Why hasn't a team west of the Mississippi (other than Kansas) won since Arizona? So Kansas, Arizona, Arkansas, UNLV, and UCLA are the only schools in recent history, right?
That's what sticks out to me. Also, how many more titles would Roy have won at KU had he recruited from the east coast?
@JayHawkFanToo Gotta admit though, Selden did NOT look good against them. But he's a rookie. Memphis must really have no one better, unless they're just trying to pump up his value.
I think he'll be fine, hopefully lands a long-term contract in the league. Didn't look good against the Spurs though.
And I have no problem with someone pointing that out. Not sure how meaningful it is because it's only a couple of games. But it does make me wonder why he's getting so many playoff minutes.
@chriz said in Question for @Jaybate...and anyone else that wants to chime in:
Why does Self have the same Elite Eight record as the Royals do so far this season?
The Royals are now 6-6. Just realized. Come on Bill, you got this!
Gotta think that times have changed, let's just hope that Bill doesn't yank the free-flowing 3s mentality from just one game of bad shooting like he yanks his players. Which he actually seemed to have gotten better at this year.
I can't figure out why he hasn't declared. I know there was more news today about his inattentive driving case, on top of his other deal with the gal in her car, but seriously, why doesn't he just declare? Hasn't everyone else?
Also, this pic of him walking out of the courthouse with his attorney and his mom...made me think of Will with Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian lol
I'm starting to wonder if Self already has this last spot locked up, just can't do anything officially until JJ announces, out of respect for JJ.

I think the real hate is that Roy has now won 3 NC's at UNC. I sit here spooked by what I'm about to say next.
Are the Jayhawks cursed when it comes to winning it all? Are we KU fans just doomed when it comes to tournament time?
I mean we have a great Coach. We get a nice share of good to great players. KU knocks on the door of greatness almost every year.
What gives? Did we sell our soul to get Wilt to leave the East Coast and come to God's Country? None of this makes sense.
Maybe it's just us fans thinking our Jayhawks are more than they really are. That Coach fools us KU fans by doing such a good job of covering up the weaknesses of his teams from year to year.
When you love a team/School/Program so much it hurts and makes one scratch their head when a team like Oregon made KU look so ordinary.
I don't know? I'm just rambling.
Exactly the type of thoughts that go through my head, wondering if we're just butt-hurt KU fans. But why? Why does Self have the same Elite Eight record as the Royals do so far this season? Why does it take Roy leaving KU to win titles?
That's the part that sucks. We have a better coach than Roy and Roy is winning more titles. And it seems to have taken his leaving KU.
And that really sucks.
@truehawk93 I hate to say it, but there's definitely an element of truth to that.

@chriz everyone on this post is nice!ππ€£.
Just like everyone in jail is innocent, right? ;)
LOL okay, okay, I'm an idiot. Maybe the biggest post fail ever? :)
But still. Horrible double-dribble, I love how the only guy who seemed to notice was a Jayhawk.
Dammit, I was hoping it would just show a hyperlink instead of embedding the whole video. Anyway, Steph Curry with an egregious double-dribble at around the :50 mark. End of the T-Wolves bench on the far right.
Steph with an egregious travel.
Good for Cole. Maybe he can ref next year's Final Four.
Why would a recruit rather play at Kentucky instead of KU? I get the whole Eastern Time zone thing I guess, but it's not like they get slobbered over like Duke and North Carolina and so many other ACC and Big East teams do. (Kentucky slobbers all over itself, but that doesn't count.)
Just can't figure out the big advantage there. Looking at all our sloppy seconds recruiting efforts thinking, BIKU! Seriously, aside from being in the middle of nowhere, what's not to like when compared to Kentucky?
After coming ridiculously close in 2016, they get back and take care of business in 2017. Good for them. (And bad for KU. On all accounts. Why does Roy start winning titles AFTER he leaves KU?! And why in the eff can't KU get there?!)
Bill would DOMINATE if he were at UNC. Bill + Jordan + East Coast = Championships every 4 years.
@cragarhawk how common is a sweep?
So are there any POTY awards Mason hasn't won this year? Is this usual for one person to pick up every single one of these? Did Anthony Davis win them all? I know Thomas Robinson was a consensus 2nd pick, but I don't remember if there were any POTYs that he won.
Just having Udoka would've been nice this year.

So, please help me: what was arrogant? Did I miss an interview somewhere?
Jordan Bell in postgame talked about how well he played. It was unusual, and I'm thinking, Who says that?! But yeah, they were just excited kids. Played well against a team that played poorly, due in part to Oregon's defense and in part to Self's apparent Elite 8 issues. Beat us in our backyard.
But no real harm. Gotta complain about something, especially for those who for some reason can't justify making a single criticism towards Self.
@drgnslayr I missed it, what did he say about Kansas?
He's a hall of fame coach, wouldn't want another one, and I think he'll get some more Final Fours and titles. Just wish he'd hurry up and figure it out.
I think Wayne left because he was able to showcase his athleticism pretty well during the end of the season. I'm not sure Josh Jackson had any effect on that.
I just feel bad for Landen. He mentioned that one of the reasons he picked KU over Oregon was that he felt that he had a better chance to win a title at KU. Yet KU never made it to the Final 4 in the 5 years he was there. Not saying that means KU didn't have a better chance than Oregon, but Oregon's gotten closer to the promised land.
Can he stay in conference if he's transferring due to graduating?
