@Crimsonorblue22 yes. Mostly ball. But body galore on that that's a foul on most bigs

C5 struggles but finishes 21/11 • Dec 30, 2015 04:39 AM

LL did have a good game. And was clearly hacked by the 76er. Uncalled

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 04:32 AM

@nwhawkfan and I'm sorry. Especially Ellis. Who is a fine player. No question. But not known for rebounding or playing what I'd call "above the rim". It's nice to see that out of him

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 04:24 AM

Diallo 6 and 2 in limited minutes. 4/4 from the line. But 3 fouls

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 04:23 AM

So unless my vision is failing me... Ellis led the game in rebounds. And scoring. But rebounds....

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 04:11 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 its not about fair to me. It's about who is going to take us further in the end. Whoever that is or how long they've been here... Which is coach's decision. Not mine :)

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 04:07 AM

@globaljaybird had to be fairly efficient for only 2.4 min. Lol

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 04:01 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 ya I don't have all the answers. I just know we're out of early season games to get players experience now. All I'm saying is next years top recruits see that this year's top recruits that came here aren't getting what you might call meaningful minutes. Not to mention that the kids aren't gonna be ready to play when it really does matter. But what do I know. Perhaps they haven't earned it

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 03:55 AM

I know nobody wants to hear it but ya have to wonder what that does for recruiting...

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 03:53 AM

@HawkInMizery I hear ya. It's the ole catch 22 ya know? Like trying to get your first job. "I see you have no experience" "yes sir so far no one will hire me cause I have no experience" but we still want to win every game

UC Irvine @ da PHOG • Dec 30, 2015 03:49 AM

Not much action for our frosh bigs tonight huh

Post Game, Thoughts • Dec 10, 2015 02:14 PM

Very enjoyable game to be at. Had a fun night. Important stat-Diallo and Bragg combine for 7 offensive rebounds. Bragg has 3 in his first two possessions after entering the game. Also Greene was a beast. It was raining 3's in the first half in AFH. Keep digging. Keep growing Jayhalks. We're not dangerous just yet. But give us 32 more games to work on it

Gameday Ladies and Gents • Dec 09, 2015 09:42 PM

Headed to Lawrence. You all enjoy the game. Cause I'm gonna. :)

We Just Got Schooled By Harvard • Dec 06, 2015 03:57 PM

Didn't get to see the game. I was on the road. Listening to the radio of course. Didn't sound good to me. But without eyes on it. I have very lil to say... I don't think the film on that game is gonna scare the UK wildcats about coming to the phog at all

We Just Got Schooled By Harvard • Dec 06, 2015 03:53 PM

@drgnslayr ha-ha. Nice!

@HighEliteMajor Great stuff. You really put alot of effort into that.
I think we're missing the obvious here though.... Coach Self merely said that about Jamari as a dig to those of us who feel his minutes need to decline substantially. Ya know. Just letting us know he's there. :)
Please nobody label me a hater. Im very fond of Jamari Traylor. I just don't think he's our best option if we really wanna see this team reach its maximum potential

What Can We Learn Tonight? • Dec 04, 2015 04:20 AM

@KUSTEVE hopefully a minimum of 1. The rest is just gravy

What Can We Learn Tonight? • Dec 04, 2015 03:58 AM

UCLA tryin to do somethin here

Tyler Davis vs. Cheick Diallo • Nov 27, 2015 02:47 PM

This is terrific discussion. We have Chieck though. Now let's go out and make the most of him. And get the most out of this team. It's time to see that

Let's keep expectations real • Nov 27, 2015 02:41 PM

I'm excited to see what Diallo can become here. A rim protector that can run the floor would certainly upgrade this team. And the points would only be a bonus. We've shown we "can" score

Let's keep expectations real • Nov 27, 2015 02:25 PM

Perhaps I've conveyed that sentiment. Without necessarily meaning to. I just think it's unrealistic based on what we know to assume the kid is coming in immediately and averaging a double double with 3 steals and 5 blocks etc... I'd love to eat a big ole helping of crow on that. And I am elated that we have Chieck and I'll be even more elated when he is at the point that he can produce those numbers

THE DIALLO ERA • Nov 26, 2015 04:31 PM

@JRyman Ya know. I'm fully aware that I come off as a "negative Nellie" or whatever alot of the time... I mostly just consider myself realistic rather than negative. But am I wrong to wonder why some ppl think Diallo is the second coming of Joel Embiid??? I mean even the inches alone would suggest this is not probable wouldn't it?? I see him being an impact player here eventually if he is here that long.. Other than that right now I would need to see much more of him to believe anything beyond that. Am I just wrong on this?

THE DIALLO ERA • Nov 26, 2015 04:27 PM

@HighEliteMajor I guess I feel like that's an echo of my thoughts. I mean we have ppl getting all googly eyes here about Diallo's clearance. And I'm not saying I'm not excited about it. I am. But do we really think, based on past experience and what we know of coach self. That this is an immediate impact situation?? I never really have thought that simply because that's not how freshman seem to workout for us. Especially so called "bigs". When the man himself is telling you basically that the kid may make an impact virtually by seasons end... That's enough to convince me. But as I said. I'll be happy to be wrong.
And please nobody take me wrong here... I'm not a Self hater. There's nobody else I want here right now. But I do think we're better by March if Diallo is allowed to play major minutes and thru some growing pains right now. Rather than later

THE DIALLO ERA • Nov 26, 2015 04:15 PM

When I hear Self say that Diallo won't make an immediate impact. But perhaps by conference play or say February.... That tells me that he won't be seeing huge minutes immediately. But I'll be happy to be wrong about that. It's about time we had a so called freshman phenom that was actually worth all the hype. Could also just be Self downplaying what he really has in Diallo also. We all know he does that from time to time. I hope that's the case

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 04:11 AM

@wissoxfan83 this i fear is a tissue of falsities

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 04:08 AM

It's playground rules coach!! We're behind ya on the "free Diallo" deal. Now you're gonna get behind us on "freeing the three"... Yes?? :)

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 04:06 AM

Self has always been "take what they give ya". I assume he tries to pound it in first. Cause he prefers when they give us that. But maybe he is seeing we have the outside game against long interior teams??

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 04:01 AM

Did Alford zone us at all first half guys? And gals?

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 04:00 AM

Radio station crapped out. Force to watch the live update on espn website. Yuck. Beats nothing I guess. Looked like a great half offensively. Defensively also. Except last 4 minutes. Trading buckets

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 03:15 AM

I like Jamtray also. There are better bball played out there. But he does give it all. And a great kid. Met he and his mom at Omaha last March. Nice talk

U-C-L-A • Nov 25, 2015 03:12 AM

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:59 AM

Anyone is allowed to critique coach self or anyone else if they choose. Whether they are right or wrong. It's mostly opinion anyways. Doesnt mean you have to buy it. My opinion. Izzo outcoached Self tonight. At in game adjustments minimum. And it was made apparent that Self had no counter when he crawled into his fetal position and began sucking his thumb.... Text book self. When ya have no answer the answer must be to stick with only experienced guys and bring out the pound it inside and draw fouls game. Unfortunately it just happens far too often to not recognize it

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:50 AM

@Bwag I'm not arguing this point. At all

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:48 AM

Every loss is frustrating. But I had marked this game rather than the first as a judge of improvement. Don't see any so far. Nobody cares what ya can against the northern Colorados of the world. Blowing double digit leads.... Irritates me to no GD end

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:43 AM

@tundrahok they had several right at key moments in the last 8 min and ended up getting a lot second chance pts. You could see the mo swing. I told my wife we were done with 7 to go

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:39 AM

@JayHawkFanToo the number you need to be looking at is offensive rebounds for MSU. That's as big a part of this loss as anything... And believe it or not. It's a heart stat. Same story I tell my rec league boys. One team flat out wanted the ball more than the other.

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:36 AM

@Bwag the wug means very lil to me. It obviously wasn't much of an advantage anyways. Ppl will remember NC's. That's about it honestly. I agree that Traylor is a terrible rebounder. Ellis not much better. For all he does do.... When for the love of God is he gonna get above the rim. Probly never by now.... Have to start recruiting better or actually developing the players we do recruit. Cause this team looks no different than the team that lost to Wichita st

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:27 AM

@Bwag I would argue the opponent skews those numbers. However. I may give you Bragg. That has yet to be seen though in my opinion. But if we're gonna hang our season on guys like Lucas and Michelson. I have lil faith in that

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:23 AM

@Bwag sorry I disagree

Kansas - Michigan State chat • Nov 18, 2015 05:22 AM

No rebounding. Msu boys just flat out want it more. Tired of that same ole story..... And we have absolutely got to start getting Big Men who are actually big and actually men

So.... Uptown Chukwu up??? How'd that b . Haha

How Bad Can This Get? • Apr 10, 2015 01:13 PM

It could get pretty bad. If Ellis goes. And we don't sign anyone else(which I think will be the case) we will have trouble keeping the tournament streak going and most definitely kiss the lil12 streak goodbye... With the schollie openings at UK and Duke. I don't see us getting anyone else . Hate to say that. But the facts are certainly there. We don't do as well with the OAD thing as those programs. We know it. And certainly potential recruits must also

Bob Knight • Apr 03, 2015 01:39 AM

@VailHawk terrific!!

Bob Knight • Apr 02, 2015 10:53 PM

IDGAF what anyone says. Coach Knight is the real deal. And always will be in my book. Love that guy!

GO ZAGS!!!!!!! • Mar 30, 2015 12:45 AM

@DCHawker dammit. That's a good point that I resent the hell out of. Sad face...
