He does have a license that he earned over the last 5 years!
Landen is driving the bus... no question about that!
Go, Wayne!
Keep voting, people!
Another one of your good posts. But I'm not sure I would say Marshall can't recruit. I believe he has 3 players in the league now. What decent prospect wants to go to WSU? It's not even like a real university atmosphere. Another thing... WSU is starting to recruit better players. We don't want to go to sleep on these guys.
I'm not one that just hates WSU because they are WSU. I don't hate WSU. I like good basketball in our state so I support all our schools to do well. That's just me. I've actually had a good time watching the Shockers once in a while. They hustle and they build team synergy with their hustle. I wish we had more of that type of synergy. It helps them perform to the top of their capabilities.
When I was a little kid, I had my bike stolen 5 times. It was my one big thing, and I would keep it locked. But my neighborhood sucked.
After my all-time favorite bike was stolen, someone tipped me off that a neighborhood bully had done it. I immediately went to his house and saw my bike. Before I took it home I cleaned the bully's clock right in front of his mother. The strange thing... she didn't even try to stop me! I think she appreciated what I did.
Almost 35 years later I saw him again, at my high school reunion. He thanked me for kicking his butt. He said that one time totally changed him and his life. He realized how he was hurting other people and he changed.
I'm not trying to advise people to revert to violence in any way. But it is amazing how some of these situations end up producing positive results. I'm sure it also works more often to produce negative results.
Grayson Allen needs a reset. Getting beat up is one way to have a reset. Big illnesses and other hardships can do the same thing. Something needs to happen for this kid to "get it" and start focusing just on playing the game only.
Gonzaga just closed out a 9-pt victory. Yippeeee!!! Ha.... I can't take them serious at all.
My God... I'm watching Gonzaga play a junior high school team on ESPN. Santa Clara? Really?
They may deserve to be ranked, but seeing how bad their conference is I can't even view them as a ranked team in the Top 25.
Fifty bucks says Duke will be in the Gonzaga bracket!
I respected Allen for diving for balls during the Wisconsin championship game. I went from respect to disrespect ever since.
The guy can play... but all the other crap makes him unwatchable.
He just looks like a guy that needs to get beat up badly once to change his attitude and respect others. I know that is "old school" talking so I apologize to anyone that might be offended by that statement.
I believe the Star has a lot of Mizzou grads. Don't they have a huge journalism department at MU?
I think the reality has got to them now. They are in a low place and the shiny object in the room is Kansas basketball. We just continue to climb, climb, climb... and the little Mizzies see their lost opportunity of riding on our coat tails.
I'm hopeful that Jay will show us a little love while the rest of sports media trashes us during the tournament.
Jay could sure win me back if he stood up for us.
@HighEliteMajor Bingo!
I like the classic look.
Gosh... we dominate them in basketball, and within a few years will probably dominate them in football. Look at their football future..... one man.... destined for retirement any second now.
They will have to introduce some of their animal husbandry sports to the Big 12.
Camel curling?
Cricket cricket?
Poodle yodeling?
I'm keeping my eye on ISU. Our conference tournament has become their "big prize" now every year. They know they won't win our regular season conference title and they damn well know they stand zero chance on a national title.
Their fans love to come in and try to dominate Sprint and the Light & Power District.
This is their one big moment to be more known than just being in the Jayhawk Big 12.
WHAT? No camo? What will I use to camouflage my duck blinds next year?
He went from POY to POS... and he has outright WON that title!
Sponsored by Falstaff!
Don't forget this one -
We need your vote every single day from here on out!
Hmmmm.... makes me wonder....
Could I go back for a few post-grad classes and qualify for student tickets?
I'm hoping the negative press helps us! Gets our guys fired up to go prove who they are!
They clearly aren't the same team they were early in the year. This was a rebuild year and they are stocked with new players so it took time to get guys playing together.
I have the same question you have about the quality of their schedule.... not because we can't figure out if they are any good. They are good. I don't doubt that. But if their year was mostly about playing bad teams they won't be prepared to face the tougher teams.
I doubt it. I would think he would have jumped at Alabama if he wanted a job in redneck country.
I like your thoughts on this. I never take WSU for granted. And I hope we don't take any team lightly. Obviously, we've had that mindset before and have sent home some damn good teams early in March!
I'm not concerned about rest. Always a little concerned about injuries.
Bill isn't running hard practices any longer. And our guys get plenty of recoup time to soak in the tubs, etc.
Are there KU players, past or present, that you don't like?
I'm not sure... but is the KC market seeing MU as a positive these days? I heard some pretty bad talking from the KC area about MU after they left the Big 12.
BTW: Does Mizzou have any decent guard recruits that might want to leave now?
This sounds like a job for Ben Howland, except he is busy competing with them as a MSU Bulldog.
They will have to turn up some kind of dark cloud to come in and coach them.
I like the overall subject of this thread. But I don't like to bash any of our ex-players in a comparison of current players.
All players are human and have weaknesses. And this team has weaknesses, too. If March doesn't work out like we like, then how many of our current players end up on this list?
Tyshawn took a team that didn't have a single McDs AA to the championship game and the only reason we lost that game was UK had a freak player in Anthony Davis.
WSU is getting more love than us right now by east coast media:
Bracketology: If Wichita State is Final Four good, what about Illinois State? ↗
So WSU is "Final Four good?"
I always keep an eye on the Shockers, and they look like they have put their team together quite a bit lately. I see improvements.
I don't know if they are individually as athletic as us. I doubt it. But they are like a swarm of locus.
Prepare yourself, Jayhawk fans.
Here comes March Madness! We always look forward to the big dance.
But as fans, are we prepared this year?
Are we prepared to enter into March Madness with the #1 team in the country, with the National Player of the Year, and possibly the Freshman and Coach of the Year, AND having tied Wooden's UCLA teams with longest conference winning streak?
I think we are prepared for all of this. What we aren't prepared for is the overwhelming bad press we are about to receive!
Kansas stays steady while dealing with off-court turmoil ↗
THIS is what our March Madness is going to be about. THIS is the east coast press theme for this year's Jayhawks.
Prepared to see and listen to everything we have done and do moving forward to only be relative to our "off-court turmoil."
I don't want to be a Negative Ned.... but I want us all to be realistic about what is going to happen in a couple of weeks. Kansas will receive plenty of attention, unfortunately, most of that attention will be on a damaged car and an alleged rape that happened NEAR our team.
I just hope it gives us that needed CHIP I always talk about. I hope all our guys decide they aren't going to take his crap and will go out and fight for themselves like never before.
Done Losin'!
Here is the "love" we get from east coast press -
Kansas stays steady while dealing with off-court turmoil ↗
Now we all know our team is busy with basketball and not "off-court turmoil" but the press sees it differently.
Did anyone in here feel like Josh couldn't focus on Saturday because he was worried about his court "speeding ticket?"
So Kansas now tied UCLA's record and these dickheads can only mention the "trouble" we have. Sorry for the French, but "dickheads" is the only appropriate way to describe them.
Contender or Pretender?
NOOOO! I'm not talking about us, I'm talking about our favorite team down south.

Are these guys for real? I know they haven't played many tough games this year. But the Shocks have already hit 30 wins.
Even Conner's game has finally come around.
They look scary to me. They have a bench that just doesn't stop and they like to push tempo.
I find it unlikely that they will be in our bracket.... but how would we hold up against the Shockers this time?
"But our small size and minimal depth worry me against a UNC."
I hear you. It concerns me, too. But think back about times we had such a size advantage on other teams and it didn't pay off?
This is a different year. Chuck out the loss of Doke, and we are in pretty good shape right now. I know Luke has sore thumb, and a few guys are tending to nicks but we are holding up well.
Bill has done a good job of saving his guys. It even feels like we "throttle down" in games. Not just to save legs but also fouls. I would rate our defensive performance at Stillwater as average... but look at what our guys had to endure? We never get a kind whistle in Stillwater and we were starting to get in some foul trouble by the end of the game. Had we played more aggressive, I'm afraid we would have lost some players.
It feels like our game is on an uptick, and I can think of many years when we weren't on an uptick in March. We need to factor that in.
Precisely. That is why I gave an example WORSE than Frank being cold from the perimeter.... foul trouble that would sit him down. We do need his control of the game, tempo, assists, leadership, driving, and rebounding....
Even go a step further.... what if Frank gets in foul trouble? It did happen this year. Frank had to sit.
I think the key to our success in March (from the perimeter) is the "three amigos" strategy. Typically, one of these guys has somewhat of an off-night every game.
I think if Frank does have a bad game or foul trouble, the other two amigos will have his back. They better.
It is a lot easier to count on two players total results over one. It should give us more stability. And then if we are figuring averages from a group of 3, we really should have more predictable results.
Actually, we have 5 guards that are all capable of lighting it up. We could even see a game where our three amigos, as a group, are in a slump. That doesn't mean we don't get some production from Svi and Vick. Then it really does boil down to our defense shutting down our opponent.
Can we lose in March? Of course we can. I'm just making an argument that we have a very good overall team to deal with March this year. I like our "chances."
Frank is up to 25.1%!
Moving on up!
Keep up the great work....
Yeah... He put Jay Bilas in a tough spot... committing rough contact that Jay detests. But he is wearing a Duke uniform... Jay's team.
Nice conversation.
Yeah... the real top talent players find ways to get theirs, whether it be from the field of FT line. And when absolutely nothing is falling for them, they find other ways to help their team win.
Basketball is a complex game and there are so many areas to positively impact the game. Top players know that and their main goal is to help their team win, not build their stat sheet. This has been a problem with Carmelo Anthony's career. Many have questioned his motives and he has been on some pretty bad teams. He finally compensated for his reputation during the Olympics, by making sure he was "the man" that helped his teammates win.
I really like our team and I like our chances. But I have to admit, a big part of my optimism relates to having Frank on this team. I believe in his heart, his desire, and his ability to execute!
I hear what you are saying. I'd like to have 1 big post guy that can really score in the post, but also rebound and definitely block shots.
Doke? Maybe. There is a big unknown with him and his injury. Hard to say when he can go 100% without issues with that hand. I know it sounds like a "small injury" when comparing to knees and such. But actually, tendon damage can be a long haul for recovery and he may have to deal with quite a bit of agonizing pain through the process.
I hate to be a Negative Ned, but we may never see much production out of Doke. We may just see him put up average numbers next year while he still heals and learns D1 and then he may be gone! I hope this isn't the case!
I might have recalled it wrong. It seems like one year he put up a lot more 3s than the other years.
Travis Ford... isn't he coaching the St. Louis Belikins?
BTW: If any of you visit Belize... I highly recommend this brew!
So, in a way, weren't we sometimes playing a 4out-1in when Perry was here? It seems like his junior year he started playing out on the perimeter more, hitting treys. It seems like his senior year he was in the paint, back to the basket, grinding out his points.
Aren't we saying that Bill will keep to a 4out-1in next year?
I don't see Billy being a back-to-the-basket guy.

Help me out Bucketeers...
Let's see.... we've had some pretty outstanding swing forwards lately... Wiggins, Oubre, Jackson.
But where is this going now? Are we making our swing player from a 4 instead of a 3 next year with Preston?
I like your optimism! Hope we can pull it off!
I don't think Frank wants to lose any more games as a Jayhawk. He doesn't want to leave Lawrence with a bad taste in his mouth.
This is a perfect game to really put the rest of D1 on notice!
The Jayhawks are coming after all of you!
Fear the Phog, and fear this team!
Do fans get to vote?
We have slightly lifted the % for Frank.
Like I said earlier... chances are the Przemek vote will be just a few % after they remove all of the hacked votes.
