@Kcmatt7 Lets not make this personal. I have no idea what your work ethic is like. I'd prefer to assume it's good. You had zero idea what it's like to be me either.

As far as being in the top .3% of people with this job. I'm there. I just dont think of it that way. Everyone has room for improvement. There are far fewer people In my line of profession than pro ball players and way more amateurs. I'm saying far more people have grown a plant than bounced a basketball world wide.

I don't take sick days, I can't. I haven't missed a day of work in 13 years due to illness. I have three jobs and two boys to raise. If I only had to perform 100 days of the year it would be a heck of a lot easier. During the 8 warm months I work 65-85 hours a week at one of my jobs alone. And yes I have study and preparation time at home I'm not counting into my work hours. It's this work ethic that has a college dropout on the verge of taking over a company where all my peers have degrees and 1/2 have masters. And as a matter of fact I do a better job than most of them as well.

I wasn't blessed with a 7ft frame, even above average athleticism, or a giant wang for porn. But I can hold my own in about any job that doesn't require God given talent 99% of the population hasn't been given.

I am truly disappointed that you take a discussion about the nba and turn it into a personal attack. I thought we had a better understanding of one another than that.

@justanotherfan and yet he still is inferior to Jordan. Rings don't lie. Montana was better than Marino inspire of Marino's insane numbers.

It's really off point though. And I keep wondering over there as its a more interesting conversation. My main issue is the punks who refuse to play are creating a crappy product resulting in 100 men and women losing their jobs at ESPN. NBA laziness trickle down effect. It'll lead to smaller contracts down the road relative to current growth.

Lebron is a good basketball player. One of the top 20 of all time. I don't dispute that. I just don't think he'd have done well against Ewing and Oakley beating him down. Or the classic piston teams that were allowed to hack away back in the day. Barkley in his prime would've been a fun matchup to see as well. Unfortunately it's something we'll never get to see.alt text!0_1493323694391_image.jpeg ↗

@Statmachine Bill's high dollar hair plugs may combust if the scout team beats the starters.

A few things the advanced stats don't mention. Jordan played 11 full seasons for the Bulls and won 6 championships. Jordan never saw a game 7 of the finals. Jordan never lost a finals series.

Were LeBrons teams less talented? In any team he has had success with there have been no less than two other max contract players on the team. LBJ did reach the finals with an early Cleveland team devoid of talent, but since then? He had DWade (already a champion without Lebron) and Bosh (not to mention Mario freakin Chalmers. In Cleveland take two he has two all stars playing with him in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

There is no argument from me that Jordan has had by far the better coaching. We all know what good coaching does for a team. KU always has an inflated record vs talent. It's why they are commonly overseeded and are perceived to flame out as opposed to the reality of being season long over achievers.

@Kcmatt7 sorry I didn't realize you were such an lbj fan. If so I'd have picked any one of another stars to illustrate my point that today's multi-million dollar athletes are a bunch of pampered pansies who couldn't walk a mile in most of our shoes. I don't get to chose when I go to work. But then again undisciplined, work brittle people of any age wouldn't be able to be successfully self employed.

Old school-probably, but I'm under forty. you don't have to be old to have a good work ethic. I look up to Cal Ripken's example.

!1_1493300898446_IMG_1973.PNG ↗ !0_1493300898420_IMG_1972.PNG ↗

Lebron has never played all 82 games. Jordan did it 9 of his 13 full seasons. If you went to a Bulls game you saw Jordan play. If you go to a Cavs game there is a good chance you can see LeBron play, but no guarantee.

So what has ESPN spent $2.6 billion per season on? Since the games suck - no stars playing they've got to get eyeballs anyway they can. As a result we all suffer thru bs human interest stories instead of sports and sports analysis.

@Kcmatt7 So if LeBron plays more minutes per game his per 40 stats don't compare as favorably as his games stats do to Jordan? Makes me realize how good the greatest to ever play was and makes me extremely happy Jordan played when he did and not in the current wimpy NBA.

@Kcmatt7 Yea that's how you rest players. Blow out the competition and rest the fourth quarter. You don't take games off because you're scared of the crowd. It's worlds apart. IF the stars play the first 3/4 of the game it's worth watching. If they sit out entirely because their pussy needs a bandage?

How many games did Jordan, Pippen, and Kuchoch sit out at the same time? How many games have all the Spurs starters sat out this year?

At least "cupcake" Durant played in OKC.

I hate today's NBA it's garbage and the players are way too into every "look at me" cause. You're only as good as the person you are when no one is looking.

If any other profession sold you tickets to a show and did the old bait and switch like the NBA they would be sued for fraud/gross misrepresentation of the product.

I can't imagine I would plan to go to any KU games if there was a 5-10% chance that none of the stars would play. It's one heck of a time and monetary investment for me to go to a game. As such I expect the players I paid to see will be playing barring a debilitating injury.

Royals vs. Sox game 3 • Apr 27, 2017 01:23 PM

No way the Royals retain Homer with the agent he has. Boras gets top dollar as you eluded.

I didn't think Johny Cuento was a good move by the Royals. He didn't pitch well except once in the World Series. And they gave up way to much for him and the utility hitter they borrowed that season. Shouldn't have paid Gordon that much either.

It is sad watching the Royals take their strength - a dominate bullpen and trade it away for crap. Now they have no calling card. They are not good at any one thing. They don't even play passionately anymore.

Royals vs. Sox game 3 • Apr 27, 2017 12:29 AM

That's the problem. The Royals have reverted back to their normal selves...

Dropped cable a couple years ago. When Z-hole blacked out 1/3 of the schedule. I figured out I could stream all the games and I already was streaming all my movies. $100 per month in my pocket.

A problem all sports broadcasters are having are players resting in the NBA. i.e. I don't think LeBron played once during the Cavs trips to Miami.

It's terrible for viewership and worse for the poor people who bought tickets. People pay to see the stars play, not the backups that will just be cut soon anyway. The fat contracts have softened things up all around and about ruined the product.

GMs lose their minds over measurables. Anthony Bennett went #1 because he was long and could jump, but he couldn't ball.

KU's Next BBall coach - a game! • Apr 26, 2017 04:14 PM

KU's Next BBall coach - a game! • Apr 26, 2017 04:01 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 oops. No deleting though. We'll just agree that I'm sofa king disrespectful.

Transfer trepidation • Apr 26, 2017 01:48 PM

@approxinfinity I was thinking that UK basically gets a new roster of 5 star players every year. If those spots were not open then those players would have to spread out to more teams. There could be 4 super teams instead of 1 based on the number of scholarships or a great number of teams could end up with a star.

Then as an added bonus you could see a Sr. Josh Jackson dominating those young, gonna take over the world stars.

On the flip side if there were real money in the WNBA and a reason to leave early maybe more girls would get good at basketball? I still feel like there is more room for improvement in the women's game than the men's game. I don't feel as though we've seen the peak yet.

KU's Next BBall coach - a game! • Apr 26, 2017 01:40 PM

@RockkChalkk I used to think Danny was being groomed to replace Bill. However, Bill doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon and Danny is the same age as Bill. I'd love to have Manning back as the bigs coach, but if KU needed a new coach today I'd like:

Brad Stevens
Assisted by Fred Hoiberg

Head football coach hire Nick Saban

More realistically Dooley should be given a look esp. if Janokovich wants to come back with him.

Steve Wojciechowski Is a fairly hot name right now (Marquette) He's pretty young and a good recruiter. He's gotten one 5 star to Marquette and many 4 stars in his short time there. 15 years as Coach K's assistant should have the recruiting channels open.

KU's Next BBall coach - a game! • Apr 26, 2017 05:39 AM

Robbie "Big" Johnson (gotta have one to follow up Bill and his 28 straight big 12 championships) Bill rides into the sunset following a 5th National Championship.

Robbie is currently a HS Sr. He will be the youngest head coach in KU history at a mere 33 years of age. The prodigy was a fast riser who took 2-33 St Mary's school for the blind to the NCAA tournament in just his second year before jumping to a power 5 job at St. John's. He took St John's back to it's heights of the ninties with a top 5 ranking and a trip to the final four in only his 4th year coaching.

Luckily the Booth endowment created after an unfortunate accident, allowed KU to afford to offer Robbie a lifetime contract after winning his 3rd straight national title in only his 15th year of coaching.

@JayHawkFanToo Imagine how good men's basketball would be if there was no reason to leave early, like women's ball.

I thought Mark Smith was between Illinois and MSU? But what do I know I don't follow HS kids too closely until they sign with KU. I don't get invested in a kid that's not invested in me (with a KU commitment). It saves on a lot of grief.

Kentucky's reputation is for getting top talent, not developing players. The NBA has to look at Kentucky because that's where all the studs are at. It's like overlooking all the talent on the Texas or Miami football teams because the product on the field sucked last year. Those players will still get drafted based upon raw talent. The difference is Cal actually gets them to play well in college too.

Our fears about Malik Newman have become a reality for Kentucky. I sincerely hope KU doesn't run into something similar down the road.

I really like the idea of grabbing top transfers and coaching them up for a year before throwing them to the wolves. It really gave McLemore a chance to shine. I believe that will be the case with Newman as well.

Transfers can't play so there is no playing time conundrum. The quality of the roster can be much better from top to bottom without dissent due to lack of playing time. Practices must be very intense with that much talent on the scout team. It sure beats going against legacy coach walk-ons as much as we love them!

Any player too scared to come in to earn their minutes can go down the road with Trae Young. If Juiston is up to the challenge he will have ample opportunity to play.

Mine was set to paper which is very small text. Pretty much any of the others are better. I'm currently playing with Journal.

Cal has more top 15 talent than any other school. If he didn't turn out more All-stars something is very wrong. I'm too busy to look, but I'll bet just due to the amount of top talent he gets that UK has had a large number of top ranked failures too.

Cal is great at getting the most out of his talent, but sometimes kids are over ranked or just don't work out. It happens to every team. Unfortunately if you get the lower end of oads (cliff) they pan out at a lower rate.

Personally I wouldn't take that style of recruiting. You don't get to know the players, but it allows for high volume of turnover giving you a numbers advantage. For Bill to haul in such a class means complete roster turnover and an imbalanced class like wiggs frost year.

15 years from know I'll fondly remember Frank Mason. I hope I remember Josh, I can barely remember Xavier.

I don't envy Kentucky one bit.

I have three cousins that are programmers. Mostly video games, one worked or EA for a bit. I have acquired exactly zero knowledge thru osmosis from them. I suppose a more hands on approach to learning is needed.

@Kcmatt7 So if there are only a few Adidias schools worth going to and nearly 1/4 recruits are affiliated with Adidias it sounds like a recruiting advantage for KU. If this is true then KU pretty much has it's choice of 1/4 of the top 100 talent. Why give up such a recruiting edge? If 100% of Nike recruits stay with Nike, why switch to Nike when all the other blue bloods already are Nike? Kansas would just be another Nike school, another face in the crowd.

Trying a different theme. • Apr 19, 2017 02:11 PM

Now it's starting to come together. Looking nice @approxinfinity. A few more tweaks and you'll have it.

Of the top 5 teams the ones wearing blue have 59 top 100 recruits vs 30 for all other colored jerseys. Just saying correlations can easily be made when looking for them. I'm sure KU has missed out on some Nike recruits because of Nike, but the grass is pretty green in Larryville.

@Kcmatt7 You see two Nike schools. I see two schools that it doesn't matter if they are affiliated with Converse. Kentucky and Duke will get recruits as long as they have the two top recruiting coaches. Calipari pulled monster classes to Memphis, of course he's going to be able to recruit even better to UK.Coach K while loathed by some (me) is better respected than he deserves and he has quiet the credentials.

North Carolina schools UCLA, and Kentucky are the easiest schools to recruit to due to geography. Kansas has very little going for it in terms of geography. Proximity to Chicago is all. 1/2 the country away from either coast. Bill is an awesome recruiter.

!0_1492481996964_IMG_1970.PNG ↗

Probably not as much of a recruiting embargo as it sometimes seems.
