@bskeet They’re just lucky they only had to play one big 12 team so far.
@drgnslayr gotta love the irony in lowly Baylor being drug along into the Big12 by the other Texas teams and then turning out to be better than them in basketball and football after a decade.
@BeddieKU23 Bill Self had now been the coach of KU for 16% of their years as well. Basketball is a young sport. Kinda cool to be able to remember such a large chunk of the entire history of basketball.
@RockkChalkk Top 5 for the entire 90s. Coach Bowden was a legend.
@jayballer67 what will be will be. I’m just not listening to any retirement noise. It’s premature at best. I mean no way he’s leaving KU for Carolina…
@jayballer67 For basketball it looks like decent adds. But football drives revenue and those programs are meh. Adding markets is good, but watering down the product isn’t. I’d like to hear from Yormark who he is interested in adding and what they bring to the table to understand the direction he’s wanting to go.
@jayballer67 I’ll believe it when I see it. He has also said he was wrong earlier in his career to put an end date on it. I can’t remember what arbitrary age he threw out, but as he got closer he said that ain’t happening. He’s accomplished enough to retire with no regrets, but I don’t think that really enters into the equation as long as he and his family stay healthy.
@BeddieKU23 yeah 14 teams next year. OU/Texas leave a year early the following season. Then we’ll see which teams Yormark add as well (if he gets his wishes).
Something I hadn’t thought much about - adding 4 new teams next year to the Big12, including the #1 team in the land, waters down the league. There will be a night off next year.
@jayballer67 Bill Self identifies as a basketball coach. What the heck would he do in retirement? Until he is feeble I don’t see him not coaching KU. I’m afraid he’s built like me - I’m going to work until I die because what else is there to do? I get antsy on a three day weekend and create work for myself.
@cragarhawk I don’t think that Wiggins didn’t care. He just isn’t an alpha, which is too bad. He could be dominating.

@BShark please explain the game thread title
@BShark With the portal set up this way Bill might dominate this decade. Solid roster construction with one or two OADs - one being a transfer and one being an Uber talented freshmen this year.
@jayballer67 UCLA would like that 1 seed. Can’t flame out too early in the Big12 tournament.
For history’s sake the Big12 tournament wears kids out so they can’t perform in March Madness actually is more of an urban myth.
2022 - national champs/Big12 tournament champs.
2018 - final four/Big12 tournament champs.
2012 - final four/Big12 early loss
2008 - national champs/Big12 tournament champs.
2014 Lost in second round/lost early in big 12 tournament.
2015 Lost in second round/lost big 12 championship game tournament.
2019 Lost in second round/lost big 12 championship game tournament.
2021 Lost in second round/lost early in big 12 tournament.
2020 covid kicked everyone’s ass but those were national champs in waiting.
@rockchalkjayhawk I’m going to have to dig thru the old stack of KU team posters to refresh my memory
@rockchalkjayhawk thank you. I was coming up with Jeff Graves. They might be the same person in my mind, having a hard time differentiating them.
@rockchalkjayhawk I remember freshmen better than transfers. Unique name helps.
Who was the big guy (Memphis?) transfer that played with McLemore? He was a nice young man, looked intimidating, had a cup of coffee with the Lakers. Likable as could be, above average player and I can’t remember his name. - one year rentals. I could never be a fan of a team like Kentucky that is mostly comprised of short term players.
@BeddieKU23 I will miss Jalen! It was great watching him go from redshirt to the star player on the team!!! I have much love for anyone that puts that much work and effort into being a Jayhawk!!!
One year players are hard to remember a year or two down the line. I almost forgot about Remmy the other day it took me an hour to figure out who he was at the game. McCullar will be the same way. I’ll forget about him by the end of next year. Gradey…well I still remember Xavier so I’m betting I remember him vaguely in a decade.
@BShark Im curious who will shake free in the portal. This KU team would look much different without McCullar.
@cragarhawk It’s like the year KU had Wiggins and Embiid. KU was ranked high even though they lost nearly all the games to the top ranked teams that year. -Almost all the losses were to good teams, but you’d think you’d have to beat one to earn a high ranking yourself.
Being a Kansas homer I still think with a healthy Embiid KU makes noise that March.
How is the player efficiency rating determined? Udeh having a PER of 22 on a night his +/- was negative is not exactly what I’d expect.
@rockchalkjayhawk ah yeah. Just having’ fun.
@BShark Fair enough. In unrelated news Adidas shoes suck. A top search result is “Can you wear adidas to play basketball.” 😂 tape up those ankles guys!
@kjayhawks said in $25,000 Game Thread:
@dylans he landed on someone not sure how that’s on adidas
I didn’t mean on that particular play. Stevenson obviously fell on him, but it was already injured earlier
Harris sprained ankle. McCullar sprained ankle. Zuby severely sprained ankle. Half the team is gimpy. Either it’s equipment or training or just terrible luck. I can’t remember this many limping Jayhawks.
@BShark lots of turned ankles. Adidas needs to do better!
It was bad both ways. Just bad reffing.

Good. The wheels came off quickly at the end with no Harris.
Refs will be heard. Ugly sucker

I wonder why he is at the game lol
Wanted to see good basketball!
Having issues with dish/ESPN app.
Anyone have a live stream address?
Add Arizona, Gonzaga, UConn and just cancel the NCAA tournament. Big12 regular season champs would be it.
After reading this thread it has become obvious for all our best interests we need Tonya Harding to Brandon Rush Gradey for us this off-season.

I knew we were on a heater but whewwww
Who is he claiming had a better 2.5 weeks? Alabama? They lost a game; I must be missing something.
@benshawks08 Looks to be a least a year out of date. Bill should be one spot higher assuming the rest is correct!
@drgnslayr You nailed it, Gradey is a future star. I think the thing he needs most is to fill out his frame, so just time. As for working on skills he can do that year round with no classes and world class trainers in the NBA. His basketball skill development would be considerably faster without all the college nonsense.
His personal growth will suffer. Look at previous OADs for examples of stunted maturity - better than the guys who jumped from HS, but just marginally. Gradey seemingly has had a very solid upbringing and support system making that less of a concern.
Gradey is gone. I don’t like it, he would grow leaps and bounds next year under Self. A full off-season in the weights and conditioning program would be tremendous as well. It’s just not going to happen. He should collect around $12 million guaranteed in a 1st round rookie contract across his first 3 years. Then he’s into the second contract faster where the real money begins. By then his frame will be filled out and he should be established as a player. His current skills should translate very well to the NBA. It just his frame and maturity -basically he’s young is the only knock.
