A big thing here is and if your want to admit it or not is cool with me, but we as KU fans have become very, very spoiled, we have won so much, there are some who just can't except losing a game- - - and an individual SHOULDN'T settle, be satisfied with losing a game- - -but it happens, this is where we as Ku fans have gotten spoiled we have won so much that when we lose we think the sky is falling. I do get upset cuss rant rave the ol ladies runs for the hills when we are losing a game and I'm watching she says she knows when to get out lol. Coach Self STILL hasn't lost 10 games at Allen since he has been here. Do you realize how hard that is to do, no matter who the competition is? Even if the competition was Saint Mary's sister of the blind playing us 10 games? 10 games? in what going on his 13th year? how many other coaches in America can say that? Yet that's not good enough, we always want more, we think he should WIN THEM ALL. never satisified, you DO REALIZE there is only 1 winner at the end of the season, the National Champ, everyone ends their season with a loss only one ends with a win. the national champ. Do you realize how many fans from other schools would die just to make it to the NCAA tourney as many times as we have in a row, or even half of that?- - - - ?Not KU fans, we are of the belief we need to make it every year and no matter the competition should win it or at least be in the final four. we lead the nation with consectitive trips to the NCAA'S not good enough. Is there ever going to be a coach good enough for us here? Hell ya let's fire Coach Self that will make it better. Does anyone ever realize that just the name of Kansas on the front of the uniform makes us their game of the year? Every where we go, we play some of these schools that are lucky if they get their fieldhouse even 1/2 full every other game, but yet when they play us most the times its SOLD OUT, that is a lot of these schools NCAA tourney game of the year, they may not win another game all year but if they could pull the upset- - -play us close then that makes their year. Do we realize the pressure that puts on our players to preform that much better, the extra pressure it puts on the coach? But hey lets fire self like some want on here, then just like people have said what top 50 recruit wants to come here because of the style Coach Self runs, we are going to be in the same position, we are going to gewt to a point where what really good coach would want to coach here because of the expectations? the fans? never good enough. WE ARE SPOILED- - -WAY TOO SPOILED. again you can only have 1 National Champion, everyone else ends the year as a loser. Hell ya love to be National Champion every year, that just ain't happening, what's the pct of that? not just from us, but any school- - -name me any schools that repeat year after year after year these era? not happening. Don't give me the crap about well we sure the hell don't wanna keep making early exits from the NCAA'S, I'll say that who the hell does? Seriously though what difference does that make? you lose early , the 2nd round OR you lose in the sweet 16, the semi's what the hell ever. bottom line is- - -you STILL LOST, you are not the National Champ. A loss is a loss, is a loss, is a loss period. everyone ends the season losing whether i's the 1st round 2nd round sweet 16, great 8 what the hell ever. YOU LOST let's fire the coach, cause he is running the wrong offense, must be ALOT of coaches running their wrong offenses. You can be one of the better teams in the nation all season, the NCAA'S is a crap shoot, a lot depends on the outcome, Injuries, who's on a roll at the time of the tourney, your team's recent play, it only takes 1 bad game, it's not the best of 7 it's ONE game. you play poorly , then your out. Ya I would love to get deeper in the tourney but it's not as some want to believe because we have the wrong offense or not nearly as much of the problem as some want to make it out to be. I'm proud to be a Jayhawk fan, I'm proud to have Coach Self, I'm proud of our 11 straight conference championships, I'm proud of our nations leading consectutive NCAA appearances, I bleed crimson and blue but I'M SPOILED TO SPOILED, we as KU fans are spoiled and there are some here that are so dillusional they feel w should never lose, and always make it to the championship and that I say good luck. No matter how good the talent here, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Louisville, where eer it ain't happening. I feel we are still there in the running. He was surpose to commit and sign with Flordia State Wednsday surposedly, but yet he didn't, that's what all the buzz was surpose to be, now since he didn't can't commit till spring. @Statmachine no the one that doesn't get it is Brannen, this is his 3rd suspension, his freshman year, the end of this past year and now this. What this kid is, its time to grow up. not only is he hurting himself with this crap, but he is also hurting his team mates. If your gonna be a distraction to the team then like others have said it's time to cut ties. Well guys as the saga continues, beginning to believe that we could make a reality show out of this but the thing I have to say, believe is that if the NCAA is allowing Cheick to practice with the team, and going to allow Cheick to travel with the team, then it for sure looks like the end result is he WILL be cleared, but once again is WHEN? why do they continue to drag their feet, their butts, free the guy already, this is lunancy. They just cleared yet ANOTHER player yesterday that's at St Johns, who is left to clear? Ok, now if and when Cheick here is a little concern of mine, not huge but has crossed my mind and I hope and feel that most won't but I know there will be some that do. And that is I sure hope that when Cheick is finally cleared that we as Crimson & Blue rabid fans don't put so much pressure and out of reason expectations on this boy, which he is still a young man, that it just gets just so out of hand by some thinking he is going to be the instant miracle, that instant fix, that's going to solve all this teams problems, that it is going to be a no win situation for him no matter how well he does. We all know, and have heard what a great motor he has, I know from watching tapes of him a well as a lot of you have how he plays with reckless abandon, how he will definitely help big on the boards, help be that rim protector, but guys we just have to realize it still will take a bit for him to get in game playing condition. Huge difference between practing with a team then playing in real game time conditions. the key is going to be a little patience, unfortunely there are going to be some that want him once he is cleared to be that instant STUD. not happening, and there are going to be some, not a lot, but some that are going to call him a huge bust, a huge disappointment, no matter what he does on the floor if he doesn't meet some expectations when he hits the floor, and that's really sad that's unrealistic. To those that thunk we aren't doing anything right how the Coach stinks and bull headed, try living through our REAL down years going through some of Coach Owens tenure, the guy could recruit- - - he just couldn't coach, with the talent Coach Owens had back in his tenure we should of done ALOT better. So to a certain degree I have to agree if you want to bail out, run- - - - - then run- - - they can always use fans down the innerstate in Cow city Manhattan. I feel like the majority of people here maybe no upset on the fact we lost the game- - - - -buts it more on HOW we lost the game, Coach can go through this stuff over and over and over and drill and drill and drill in practice, but the bottom line is if they don't go out and execute it in game time conditions then we are screwed, getting tired of seeing these crazy, out of control drives with no where to go, get yourself in so deep and can do nothing. WHY is Frank Mason tired if that's the case, then WHY? if Frank Mason is tired 2 games into the season, and no he has had all kinds of time to rest between each exhibition gam and the regular season and months of rest from the WUG'S sooo, if he is tired, that tells me 1 thing poor conditioning, and if that's the case who's fault is that? We started the game, Fed the ball to Perry and they had NO ONE to stop him, so here is the question- - - how can Perry finish the game if they stop getting him the ball, they quit looking for him, ya he got some but why do you ever go away from whats got you to where your at? Michigan State sure didn't stop making sure it was in Valentines hands, huge difference. Michigan State kept riding their horse, Us? we put our stud in the stable and brushed him down. They had no one in the 1st half that came close to stopping him, but what do we do ? we start jacking up wild ass 3's making ridicilious drives with no where to go, THEN when we decided to get Perry back involved- - - it was to late. he had like 14-15 pts in the 1st half- - - you ride and ride and ride tell he is wore out. If they can't stop it, then why do you stop, makes no sense.

@globaljaybird understand completely, there may be a little weight to what you say about Self hitting his ceiling, now me and it's just me personally, I tend not to believe that, although I DO FEEL his weave offensive is a thing of the past I have a tendency of more to believe like someone mentioned in another thread I believe that ever since Danny left, then so did our big man advantage leave. Danny was great with working with the big men, not even sure who has that responsibility now, we have things that are just not right. I read and yes I know some people do not give 247 any credence but I still check out the site, and it seems to lean to the same thing you are saying, it is showing about all predictors showing Jarrett Allen to us now, which is good, I do realize that IF this indeed turns out then indeed looks like Azubuike is out, kinda wanted him but from what I've heard Allen is pretty good player also. I feel right now- - - at this very moment, today we need to be starting Mickelson, Length, Rebounding, and some rim protection , not sayin this is rock solid, I just think as a starter right now, then follow with Bragg/ Traylor, I lean more to Bragg way more athletic, stretch the floor, I love Jamari but just feel Bragg has the upper hand. So in MY # 5 spots the rotation would be Mickelson- - -Bragg- - -Traylor- - -Lucas, you talk about having fouls to give at the 5 spot, no reason they can't go out and be really aggressive on the defensive end, the 5 spot by committee right now, then if and when Cheick gets cleared, can always move Brag to back up Perry, again he has range, stretch the floor great athlete. My starting 5 RIGHT NOW , not that it really matters would be Mason, Graham, Seldon, Ellis & Mickelson. Then you got the 5 spot by committee, & you have Seldon, Greene, & Svi at the 4 you also can use Wayne at the point in an emergency situation or slide vick in at the 2 when need be, that's just me. On ESPN'S site, Tacko Fall the 7 ft 6 in fresh that's at I believe it said central Flordia, has been cleared to play by the NCAA after threatened to be sued, now he is eligible, this kid wasn't even allowed to practice, but yet now cleared. he had not been cleared because NCAA informed they wasn't accepting some of his core classes- - -still don't get it and yet here we sit on Cheick. well guys, watched the recruiting special on ESPNU last night and they asked who was working the hardest and KU was listed as 1 of the 6, then I read that he is going to be at the game tonight, didn't realize we were back in the mix for him. So guys whz your thoughts? is this a good thing or not? the ESPN guy says he is a great teammate, the other players love playing with him, he is no longer rated but he gave a reason for that, maybe had something to do with him going to Canada I'm not sure. Soo if he still listing them, If he didn't think he could come in and compete then he wouldn't have shown interest in the 1st place. As Far as De"Aaron, if he isn't coming in to push for playing time, and the staf knows that he can't take that spot- - - then why recruit him? why waste our recruiting efforts as a staff if you know as you say that he wasn't going to take Frank or Devonte spot, as a staff WHY BOTHER?, lower your sights , go after a less know point guard and like people wan't to see a player Ku can develop and stay 3 or 4 yrs, a player that KNOWS he isn't here for just 1 year
@drgnslayr well if your wanting to recruit with the big dogs, you have to be able to stay with the big dogs, and that's not happening, evidentally that's what coach self is wanting to be why otherwise recruit the same players that Kentucky are doing? you say we are not a revolving door, so that means you don't want to become part of that revolving door, so as I said lowe your sights. If you don't want to become part of that door then don't recruit those players, because if that's what you recruit- - -that's what your gonna get ONE AND DONE. it doesn't seem to bother them to have to replace 6 or so every year, look what its got them. I'd take that if your going to recruit top 10 players which we are trying to do, then your going to have a revolving door. It's been more then a few years that we have been in on Top players been in on top 20 players for quite some time now. As far as listing schools that rarely get big recruiting doing it consistently- - -well we are sure not getting them consistently, - - well we are not either so that's a wash, so take us as a example. we got wiggins - - -AND? who else did you consider that a big year? Again why even bother recruiting the bigs if you don't want the revolving door, you can't have both. That's why I said if we can't get these guys then lower the sights. Did Kentucky make it to the championship last year with all the big time recruits? NOPE. A school with lower profile beat them out so why not lower your sights? screw the one and done, people say you want players that stay 4 years and develop- - -so don't waste your time on the higher caliber, get the 3 and 4 year players and develop case solved
Ok, soo just got through watching ESPNU recruiting special, & of course all this did is just brought back this recurring question which I have discussed here before. That is why can't we close the deal on these recruits? Ya I know I hear well more players are waiting to see what other players are going to do - - -I am not buying that or if it is then that's a very small part. again I'm feeling that our recruiting team is NOT CLOSING. Guys I mean there are perfect examples of guys we were in on and lost, Harry Giles- - we were in final 4- - Result- -Duke, DeAaron Fox- - we were in final 4- - Result- -Kentucky, & Terrence Fergurson we were surposedly at the top for most of time. My whole thing is, if we are in that final 4 or that close then someone really needs to be putting their foot on these guys throats make that sale I mean dam. I mean we are getting beat for top recruiting classes by the likes of ( Penn State # 10 ) ( Mississippi State # 9 ) ( Harvard # 11 ) it's time for a change of the guard. 2nd thought, some of these school s are getting top recruiting classes, but yet their not guys like in the top 20 players, but yet they are top 100 players. Do we need to lower our sights some. seems like we have been into a battle of top 10- - top 20 players and it's not cutting it. Example ( Virginia # 7 recruiting class of 2016- - -4 commits- - 3 were ESPN top 100- - none in the top 20 but still the number 7 class in the nation, they got the nu 25, the nu 52 the 4th recruit wasn't even in the top 100, Flordia State the # 6 recruiting class? WHY? why are we losing to the likes of these schools? not very comforting, maybe we need to lower our sights to lower ranked players in the top 100 possibly have better luck, because for some reason we are NOT GETTTIN IT DONE with these top notch players. we shall see, still some left that we are in on but i'm not sure about holding my breath on any of them # 3 Josh Jackson- - Michigan State # 2 ranked class have gotten 4 commits, how many did they have available? then there is Allen at # 19, Bolden at # 20 & Azubuike # 22 kinda crazy, not feeling very confident ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
just got through leafing through ESPN home, on College basketball. they listed a bunch of predictors, on the final 4, pretty much EVERY ONE had KU in the final 4. Seven of them have KU winning the National title, they are : Myron, Metcalf , Andy, Katz , Gasaway ( didn't get 1st name ) , Joe Lunardi , Laphonso, Ellis , Sean Farhan , & Dino Gaudio thought to myself hmmmmm, sounds ok by me lol. Metcalf final 4 is , Kent, Virg, Gonz, & KU. Katz's final 4 is KU , NC , MSU , & Cal Gasaway's final 4 is Ku , Nc , Duke , & Wsu , Lunardi's final 4 is , Ku , Kent , Gonz , & Ind Ellis final 4 is Gonz , Duke , Mary , & Ku Sean F , final 4 is Mary , Ku , Kent , & Nc and then Gaudio's final 4 is Ku , Mary , Pur , & Nc. . When I read the article this morning, it just screams that Diallo has been denied, and they are in the appeal process, I think it is time to continue and come to the realization that Cheick will not touch the floor in a KU uniform. The NCAA is a joke I was reading off another site and read how there was topic of the power 5 conferences saying the hell with the NCAA and forming a new situation and leaving the NCAA out completely, I mean come on over 2000 pages of paperwork? Like other posters stated hell they hadn't done 2000 pages of paperwork their entire life, or as another stated even with his masters in college and had several assignments with long pages he didn't think he had 2000 pages. Hiring an attorney I feel is going to do no good, they will continue to drag their feet. It was stated by a poster probably what has happened is the NCAA deemed Diallo as a partial qualifier and the Big twelve has said it will not play partial qualifers, giving the NCAA an out, by sayin hey it was not us, but your conference that deemed him ineligible. it's just a mess time to move on and chalk it up as another screwing from the NCAA for us. @Lulufulu hang in there, I understand where your coming from, maybe i'm to focused with the crimson and blue binders on, but I feel really confident that Marques will be coming to KU not really going to get into repeating myself AGAIN might make people upset but as the header I posted said pieces falling into place, although I DO agree with Beddie23 to some respect he is ours to lose unless another big 4-5 star signs before him, my only question to that would be WHO would that be? but I am absorbed in the recruiting, I keep stats throught the season on the team, the players, I love getting into it deep. things like keeping track of the leading scorer for each game, leading rebounder for each game, individual pts per game, team shooting pct's individuals shooting pct, individual reb avg per game, team reb per game, free throw pct, team turnovers, avg turnovers per game, individuals assist avg, team asst avg, individuals blocks, and do the same for opponents as a team same things I listed, I get dep into this stuff during the season, got 3 ring binders that make up stats, I have wriiten down each big 12 teams schedules and keep track of records and watch multiple of big 12 games thru the year. but not to worry I believe Bolden will land in JAYHAWK NATION ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
@BeddieKU23 well here it is, perfect example of me mentioning to you this being a crap shoot on decision day and committing, like I said I 1st saw Udoka would announce in December, then we saw the other article that he was going to be a spring time commit, and now I just read that chances are he will commit early again in an article off 247 sports, so like I said, its a huge crap shoot, just depends on where you read an article, who to believe, who not to believe. bottom line is only time will tell I guess. Ok guys here it is, we are at the half wit Texas, and the game should be tired, 24-24. we are just at that point like tonight, where we are just not doing the little things, to be the difference of been a decent team, to the team we are at present, untimely penalities, not being able to finish, those are things you just have to do, we are missing 2 of our top receivers and we are right there. well bottom line is, until Brannen learns to play some defense, his time will be very marginal, his defense is very sad, and we all know if you can't play defense then your going to get real acquainted with your seat on the bench. Ya true he can drain 3's but what good is that going to do if you make the shot on one end but then play matador defense on the other. what good is that? there is no good in that. I love greene but there is no other way around it if your not going to play D the it's not happening., his talent set as you word it is marginal you have to be able to work BOTH ENDS of the court. Now on top of everything else throw Vick into the mix, which I believe he will see more playing time SOONER then later and it looks even bleaker for Brannen. @BeddieKU23 I saw that to this morning. You know what that tells me? That tells me NOBODY knows squat about what these kids are going to do. You could go to 100 different sites and get 100 different answers, it's a crap shoot with these kids. They can say one thing today, and then something completely different 2 or 3 days later. Example?- - - -Udoka right off the top of my head, 1st thing I see is that he says he will announce in December, then - - - - I see he is moving his decision up from December, which told me or so I believed that he had made the decision and wanted to get it over with, possibly tired of the pressure of the recruiting,- - -then this morning I read that it will probably be spring time, so you just have to play the wait and see. As far as Bolden I don't buy it that it will be spring before he announces, IF I had the money I'd be willing to bet substantial amount he commits BEFORE spring. WHY? mainly because the 3 main schools that he was or is REALLY interested in, things are taking shape.I know you seem to feel he is or strong chance he will end up at Duke, just can't believe that, long before Duke KU was a heavy lean on Bolden from the get go. So now with Giles committing to Duke, and chances Allen to Kentucky, things seem pretty set, perfect fit at KU for him. Giles plays more of a 4, and yes I know Bolden is surpose to be a 5 but wants to be able to play some 4, which also fits for KU he would be given a chance at that position at KU, where if he joined Giles at Duke they would be fighting for the same position, and we know who wins out there. Chances of him having a better shot at that position are much better with KU also in on Audoka, he lands at KU, UDOKA plays the 5, and Bolden the 4, OR even if we don't get Udoka, then the transfer that messed his leg up and sitting out forget his name, he will play the 5 and Bolden the 4 makes more sense, just don't buy him waiting till springtime. I just feel Marques will sign in the early period, not so sure about Josh. @SoftballDad2011 ya I don't put near the trust in crystal ball anymore, I have saw where it says one thing, then before you pull it up you see someone predicting them to go some where else, as a matter of fact there is an analyst that did that same thing just the day before yesterday predicting KU, I like to pull up the individual analyst predictions and see which one is sayin which school

@DCHawker well guy, I have some theory well maybe not so much theory, but ideas on why, which I have brought up her before, some have agreed possibly, others not so much but could be a multiple of things. Mine is just mine, and I have changed my way into thinking this, didn't use to think like this, but I now still WONDER. Some say well, these players are now waiting more to see what other players are going to do- - - that's true, I can see that, some say they wanna wait and see who is coming back so they can see about playing time- - -ok maybe.But you know what my thought on that is? To me waiting to see about playing time, just doesn't cut it, I mean if your a top notch recruit, one of the top 20 players, why are you waiting? If your as good as people say you are, if you say you are, then why wait? if your that good sign, get it over with and then next season go in a compete for the spot, if your good, TAKE IT, you should be confident in yourself, Whaaa you afraid of the challenge? the competition at your spot? your a top 20 player in the nation, you back down from nobody, accept the challenge and let the best player win out. If your not up to the challenge to compete for your position if need be then my question is- - -DO WE REALLY WANT YOU? do we want asomeone who when things get tough that's gonna back away? as a top 20 player do you just want that position given to you, instead of you earning the position? Thing is guy also is as KU fans, we think our school is the best, and wonder why these recruits wait or not sign with us- - -we think what the hell we are KU, and I agree, we have ALOT of things in our favor, we have tradition, we have exposure, we develop players, we are 2nd in getting players in the N.B.A and a much as we can't understand WHY these guys wouldn't want to come, as bad as it is, you look we are butting heads with the same other big time programs all the time, and its usually KENTUCKY & DUKE and lets face it, those two just have as much of the same things if not more as much as I hate to say it. Duke has championships & a legendary coach, and Kentucky has all the championships, I dunno, but a lot of those kids its a pickem for them, that's their luxury, and unfortunely as fans we have no say, Now my thought though too is and I have mentioned, and some others are wondering, IS IT A TIME for some coaching changes in our staff, I feel that we are getting some dead weight, someone is NOT closing out on these kids, if you sell your program, and I mean really do your job and sell it, grab it by the throat and not let up then there shouldn't be a reason we are losing some of these kids, example Terrance Fergurson, and he is just one. wish I had the answers buddy, but if we have recruiters that's getting beaten at their jobs, then maybe its time to find people who can get it done, example Aaron Miles give him a shot just my thoughts ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@BeddieKU23 again I read on him he isUdoka says he is going to announce in December, I think Allen and Bolden will both announce this fall, maybe more Bolden then Allen.
