The match ups for the 2021-2022 Big 12/Big East Challenge were announced yesterday and KU is not going to be involved the featured/most hyped game of the series year. That honor is going to go to a Sweet 16 rematch between Baylor and Villanova.

KU will be making its in all likelihood second appearance at MSG of the year when they take on St. John's.

The other games include an old Big East match up between UConn and West Virginia in Morgantown. Texas will play at Seton Hall, Texas Tech travels to Providence, Butler at Oklahoma, Iowa St. at Creighton, Xavier at Oklahoma St., Marquette at KSU, and TCU at Georgetown.

Villanova at Baylor and UConn at WVU are the two closest match ups to call. Xavier and OSU should also be a pretty good game. KU should roll St. John's pretty easily in that game.

posted this yesterday , just didn't go through the entire schedule - -ONLY KU

Now that the dead period is over , things for sure are going to be picking up. So far we have 4 kids coming in for visits. Nothing to get excited about with these 4 but you never know, think most of these from the things I read/hear , these guys will end up elsewhere.

Anyways Mitchell , local kid coming to visit on the 16th of June & then will also visit on late night.- - - ( Don't hold your breath. ) - - -Nick Smith , coming in on the 20th of June - -No Chance. - - Zuley is in on the 23rd , this kid really don't know much on. - - - Then Jayden Epps comes in the 28th of June through the 1st of July.

Things gonna pick up , glad this dam dead period is over

Good question. My impression is they’re coming off the 2022 class. Which makes sense IMO. The limit in 22 was never going to be the 25 initial counters, but the 85 man cap since covid goosed all the numbers.

Hey farmer , these 6 Buffalo transfers - will they be eligible for the upcoming 21-22 Season ?

2022 Crootin • May 31, 2021 06:56 PM

Just to show How Huge of Pick up Novitsky is for Ku all you have to do is look at all or at least some of the more serious Schools were that were in the conversation trying to get him to come was. They were : - -Ole Miss , UCLA , Maryland , Florida , Tennessee , N Western , Texas , Baylor , & Purdue. - -Pretty nice list of Schools after him. Read where he is like rated as the 4th best Center in the nation - -Nice to be able to have those types of players. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

2022 Crootin • May 31, 2021 04:45 PM

Well it seems that we have now SIX transfers from Buffalo. - -DT - -Eddie Wilson ,( helps make up for the Terry loss ) Big boy like 6'4 & 324 I believe - - Trevor Wilson Wr - -kid can scoot won the High School 400 State meter & fastest was mentioned on the Buffalo team - - Mike Novitsky C read where is supose to be ranked like the 4th best C in the Nation , legit NFL prospect { Huge pick up to help take over the line and a guy that already knows the system. ) - -LB Rich Miller will help for depth in the linebackers spot - - DT - Ron McGee - -Sweet pickup to help on the DL for sure . Then we have OT Micheal Ford we need these types of guys for DL & OL think Leipold is fill critical spots for like NOW & not years down the road. Says a lot about Leipold when you get these kind of players & numbers wanting to follow to play, says a lot about the Coach, I like it. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

2022 Crootin • May 31, 2021 02:39 AM

Been a big day for recruits to KU today. - -Buffalo transfer recruits at that. Speaks loud for Leipold these kids wanting to follow him , and these kids can help us big time. - -DL Eddie Wilson , BIG BOY really use him with the loss of Dejon & Harris. Then we have Trevor gonna help in the WR decent season 16 catches & 319 yards and 3 TD'S in 7 games - got speed out of Tallahassee Fla like the speed on him. Had offers from Oregon - Texas Tech - - Maryland - - UCF - not bad - -not bad at all. Then the Center 1st team all Conference OL /Center HUGE Get someone who can take charge of the OL , and this is a kid that for sure can do that. - Should be more on the way soon. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

LOL . I was just getting ready to ask you about that. Read off his instagram that Trevor Wilson was committed to KU. - -WR -not bad stats 16 catch's for 319 yards 3 TD's long of 78 yards, kinda small 5'11 - -out of really fertile football ground for sure though. - -Tallahassee Florida -- Nice. @Texas-Hawk-10 I don’t. It would be out of Bill’s norm to redshirt a freshman if he didn’t have to. If it were me I probably would just because there’s no clear role for him this year and he could be a nice player in a couple years.

@jayballer67 not at all. JCL has better ball skills than Ochai but not good enough to play the 2 when Self likes two combos out there.

So in what terms are you talking then ? - - -JCL better Fg % then Och ( 43.5 to 42 % ) - - a lot better ft % then Och ( 86.1 % to 68.9 % ) - - Better 3 pt shooter then Och ( 39.5 % to 37.7 % ) so really where would he not be as good ? - - neither one really plays defense that well. - -Och didn't turn the ball over as much is really the only area where he is better then JCL. - -assists ration is a wash - - Steals are a wash -I think they pretty much balance one another out

Welcome Sydney Curry! • May 29, 2021 03:36 PM

@FarmerJayhawk said in Welcome Sydney Curry!:

I don’t think JCL will start, assuming Och is back. An Isaiah Moss role is more his speed at this point in his career. He just doesn’t have good enough ball skills to play the 2. I really doubt we redshirt more than Cuffe. Self just doesn’t redshirt multiple guys unless a team is absolutely loaded at one spot, like the 10-11 squad. The exception would be if we found out Bobby is hurt worse than we think, in which case might not be a bad idea.

I sure hope your not trying to say That Ochai has better handles then JCL has are you ? - - that is not one of Ochai strengths by far either - -not sayings JCL would start over him BUT I am saying he has better handles ? - - I wouldn't want to bet the farm on that

Trevor, the WR has 4 years to play. Definitely a burner on the outside, averaged 20 yards per catch last year.

Eddie is a 330 pound DT with 2 to play. 3rd team all MAC last year.

Well that sounds good to me for sure , if we could actually get them her , would be some really good additions for sure - -sounds like Wilson could be a legit deep threat - now just got to get that QB that can deliver the ball to him

@jayballer67 Meyers decommitted when Dearmon left. I kind of doubt they take a QB in the 22 class. Already have 3 true frosh plus Bean, who has 3 years to play. Plus being short on scholarships makes the numbers kind of tough.

Oh, Ok. Didn't realize that, knew we had lost some but not him. Still kinda wish he would of stuck but your probably right with Bean. I just kind of get a feeling the Bean kid will be the one that pops his head above the others. and comes out of this as the starter.

Might sound silly but myself I am feeling a lot better with the group of QB's we now have - Think it's going to be kind of interesting to see how Easters and the kid from Missouri right? develop --see there I go just jumping all over the place - -kind of nice to have some surplus of QB'S now - having said that wouldn't surprise me though if either one of these kids transfers only ONE ball -add on top of that Jalen isn't just going to let these new one's just walk right in and take his spot.

i think Here is my take but you'll probably be able to see why I'm for sure am no Coach but here is what I'm thinking right now how they will line up starting the Season I think Bean will be our # 1 QB and Daniels will back him up I think ONE of our freshmen QB's more likely then not will Red shirt. - What you think Farmer - - ya think I just wet all over myself being that far wrong ? lol

Jalen Coleman-Lands • May 28, 2021 03:23 PM

There was one thing that I picked up on and agree with that he mentioned during his interview that he was having & I've mentioned this before on the whole transfer thing.

Believe Matt was asking him about the whole transfer Portal thing and he brought out the same way I think and others have mention before from various sites and believe it is for sure the right thing for kids.

That was he got to talking about all his Coach's being fired , and the School taking the time to find a new Coach and how it kind of puts these kids in a bad situation you know , not knowing who that next Coach gonna be and if your gonna match/fit.

I have always said that most of these kids when being recruited the BIG reason they come to a School is to play for a certain Coach. - -Sure there are other factors involved but for the most part it's the Coach
Now I mean that Coach can get a better offer from another School and up and leaves - - no penalty for them just picking up and leaving at the drop of a hat & then that kid that came to the particular school is stuck , the Coach he came to play for is gone. - -That's NOT RIGHT - why shouldn't a kid be allowed to transfer out and go to another School without having to sit a year - -they are penalizing that kid by making him sit out for a year because of a transfer. WHY ? - - WHY shouldn't a Coach get penalized for up rooting and leaving a School while under contract - why shouldn't the Coach have to not be allowed to Coach for a year? - -your making a kid sit out for a year - that's why the Portal THIS yr is a good idea. - -No difference Coach can leave , kind of screw the Pooch and no penalities for leaving a kid who came to play FOR YOU -but if the Kid wants to transfer out after that Coach leaves - he has to sit - -hmmmmmmm what's wrong with that picture ? - -I know I'm not the only one who feels a player is getting shafted by this, I've read comments just like mine. -I'm glad they made them where they can transfer and good to go the very next Season - - just wish it was a regular thing

The staff does not want to play Mitch much is what I've been told. The main reason they went after Cam is they were worried none of the new guys would be good enough this year to unseat Mitch. Will be something to follow this season, as back-up 5 is looking like the weakest spot on the team.

Unerstand. So just another big reason again Dave has just got to avoid getting into foul trouble. That kind of situation can be a bad thing too. If Dave knows he has to avoid that foul trouble , it may hinder him being able to play freely, maybe cause him not to do things. On the other hand IF Cam could just play some resemblence of defense would be good, with him being able to really stretch the floor pull opposing bigs out because of his outside shooting. - -Having said that I STILL think I would rather go with Dave avoiding the foul trouble then have to rely on Cam trying to play defense

Spot on. Dave has to play in the high twenties on this team , just to important for things not to. - KJ for sure needs to redshirt & if we could work out a scenario would probably be good to be able to get Clemence to red shirt too

Parker transferred to UC Santa Clara.

I'm right there with you on that. I don't want Braun going anywhere either. - -Seemed like he had decent Fr year - -struggled last yr , lost confidence in his shot. - -I can't count how many times he turned down wide open 3's towards the end he wasn't even looking for his shot at al. I look for him to rebound decently and play well. I think probably like others sem to think - -he will be coming off the bench , just hope he can accept his role and not get down on him self, but just don't want him to transfer out.

However now with this transfer portol thing and making things so easy, gonna be a lot of transfers yr after yr. Just hoping he isn't one of them.

The transfer market will not be like this every year because players can only transfer once without having to sit out. All of these kids transferring this year can't do it again unless it's as a grad transfer without sitting out. Expect the transfer rate to be closer to 1,000 most years going forward.

The cycle will still continue. Understand that the kids that transfer However you have a whole new group of 1st time transfers just like this year this year can't do it again without sitting out. This whole transfer portol thing is just insane
