LOL I wouldn't count on them being a whole bunch of nothing .One year of downside maybe - -don't hold your breath about seeing a repeat from last year. Not saying they gonna be insane , but umm they will be quite a bit better then last year

@jayballer67 Of course Kentucky fans are going to bitch about playing KU. KU is going to be the better team next season and KU has dominated the series recently going 4-1 against Kentucky the past 5 match ups.

This is a made for TV event and KU/Kentucky is the highest profile game possible so it's going to happen as much as possible. Kentucky still leads the all time series 23-10 over KU and I'd love to close that gap as much as possible.

Ya I know about how the series is probably because they have been the better team I would imagine. You got KU fans bitching about playing Kentucky no besides me before you even say. there can be other high profile games in this challenge. - -Again Texas Kentucky would be a great match up. - It's time for us to play someone else - this is yesterdays news

2021-2022 Kansas Basketball Schedule • Jun 23, 2021 05:04 PM

I know I'm NOT the only fan that feels this way. - -There a lot of others that would rather play someone else - - someone new. Hell even the KENTUCKY fans would like to play someone else because of the amount of times we are playing in this Challenge. - A lot of them want to see a UK/Texas match - it's not just me - Again this is a League Challenge not just a KU/UK challenge, sure you have had teams play more then once possibly but - teams should be able to get to play ALL the teams gives fans a chance to see all the teams in action against all the other teams in the league. - -Needs to change

SEC Challenge right ? - - Dam is there not anyone else to play from the SEC ? Getting kind of old. - - let's play some of the others, YES I know we have but NOT NEARLY as much as they bumbling idiots

Why would want to play an inferior opponent?

KU already couldn't play Missouri because they're already on the schedule or Alabama because that's the likely final of the Orlando tournament this year. The only other option for a top level match up would be Arkansas.

Well ? ? ? ? ? - -Dam then paly Arkansas. these little bitch fans of theirs al ready complaining about how the cheaters should even be playing - - -how they know they will lose because of us shooting 153 more free throws then them - - - If people understand it's SUPPOSE to be the Big 12/Sec Challenge -NOT the KU/Kentucky Challenge. - we have other strong teams that are having to play inferior SEC teams of visa versa - -umm Baylor comes to mind as a pretty Strong Team - -Texas isn't shabby - they have to play other teams instead of the same teams over and over and over. Are these other so called inferior teams part of the SEC ? - - YES I believe they are, not our fricken fault they are inferior - - If this is truly a BIG 12/SEC Challenge then it should be played more as a round roubin where you play EVERY TEAM thats in the league or not - in the end it Balances out Instead of playing ONE frickin team every year or every other year Don't need to hear about the money. - -KU holds this league more then its share when it comes to representing the league moneywise. - On the years in the Challenge when KU plays that so called inferior team then let the other Big 12 teams bring the money let UK/Baylor be the big Money game of the challenge some year - - Texas UK - - Tex /Alabama - - Baylor Arkansas - Baylor Alabama those can be the marquee games and bring in the money on years when KU playing inferior

Between the Champions Classic with us playing them semi regularly - then the Big 12/SEC challenge it is losing some of it's luster getting stale there are other big key matchups that can be played OTHER then just that one - I'm not buying what your trying to sell

NBA Draft Entrants • Jun 23, 2021 03:53 PM

Saw this and decided to throw some things/thoughts out : - -Considering Oachi - - Jalen - -& Remy :

First Jalen. After reading Jalen's performance at the G-League elite camp - -don't really wow. Started one game - -came of the bench the other , think he scored a total of 10 points , 6 assists , 5-13 overall shooting & like 0-4 from the 3. - -Anyways they mentioned just didn't stand out enough for an invite to the NBA Combine. - -Having heard this and seeing he didn't get that invite - - just me - - -makes me feel a lot more liking the chances of Jalen returning for another year.

Next Remy . Remy didn't get an invite to the NBA camp OR the G league elite camp. - -I would think that should pretty much say it all .Like Matt stated after someone had ask if he had heard anything on Remy he said been pretty quiet nothing. - Which he said with him not getting invited to either the NBA OR the G league camp and how highly Remy talked about playing for KU - -Matt thinks & I also have to think the chances for Remy being here look really really good you would think.

Then Finally Ochai : well there are several things that are included they say as
to whether a kid fits the mold for an NBA player . With the medical and measurements and such. So the measurements have been very favorable for Ochai to stay in the draft and help him fit that mold.

Ochai had the 5th longest wingspan among guards - - - - He was 3rd in the Standing reach - - - his hand length was tied for the largest - - - and had the 3rd lowest body fat of ALL the players in the NBA Combine. - ESPN NBA Draft man read so they say is suppose to be as good as they get at predicting where a player gets drafted as anyone Pick Oachi as the 59th pick out of 60 - So THAT might give him something to think about. - -If he goes that low - -might make him think about coming back - - -I think He stays in.

If we get Remy back - -Jalen back - -we are going to be a very tough out ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

It was fun rewatching that clip.

It doesn't even seem to have happened when you talk with sports media. It is a game totally underappreciated by everyone but Kansas fans. That was one helluva game and the comeback was monumental... even though forgotten and swept under the rug of everyone NOT Kansas. Pity the poor fools. We all just love good ball, including games not including Kansas.

true , almost like in 88 with Danny and the Miracles. Who ever thought KU had a chance to beat Oklahoma in that game? That was even including some KU fans , All I remember alot of was how Billy Packer kept saying how it was a big mistake for KU to try and run with Oklahoma in the 1st half and the half ended at 50-50 I know this might sound crazy , but I almost believe we had that Championship at the half. Why is that ? - -Because I think we had got into Oklahoma's heads , thinking these guys think they can run with us, this is OUR game. Then when we matched them point for point and even at the half playing their style , got them to thinking what it took to run us out.

I think that was another game where ho one really appreciated how well we played that game other then KU fans and so many players coming up clutch. Of course Danny was Danny. but so many other role players came up big. The one I remember most was Clint Normore - -A FOOTBALL PLAYER hitting a huge shot from the top of the key latet, just love that game. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I think what could really help Texas is a long March run. It would put Texas on the map.. just like now how Baylor lifted its program.

I think a big key for Texas is they have to be able to recruit well outside of Texas and I think Beard will prove capable there.

So who do you see as the winners/losers in Big 12 moving forward?

ya, I would agree for the most part of what you said. One thing I REALLY agree with what you say and I think will play an important piece in their fan status is - - A long run in March. -The Reasoning is partly is because look at it this way , What is the Goal for ALL NCAA teams? - it's to claim the NCAA Championship right ? - -I mean very true there can only be ONE winner at the end of the yr, anything less is like kissing your sister.

Now I reckon if you are a pretty consistent team that always has poor years year after year after year, and then you pull off a pretty good Season well -- that's fine. BUT TEXAS is not one of those types of programs. Texas has a program that has been decent through out - -Not horrible by any means but not really great considering some of the talent they have had in the past. -Been kind of under achievers . So I agree a long run in March could wash away alot in the Texas fans eyes/mindsets if they could get that to happen , Texas fans most of them were ready to run Shaka out under achieved -He was just smarter and ran while he could.

Also yes they have to be able to recruit OUTSIDE the State of Texas -Chris can not just rely on Texas talent to be able to win the Tourney - & I think Chris will be able to do that.

As for as winners & losers guy - - it's hard to tell I think here again I think Texas stepped up big with being able to Lure Chris away from Tech , other then that I think things pretty much stay status quo .As much as some people here refuse the Fact about Drew & how he turned that program around , I mean - - - look at the shambles that program was in before he arrived Holy crap man. Drew is a better Coach then what people want to give him credit for. He has made a steady progression to look where he is at now & I think West Virginia & KU will stay right there towards if not at the top. I think for this year especially KU has got pieces where they could be very dangerous - So - -Deep , Deep , and that's with what they got right now. If Jalen and say Remy happen to return - I think then - - LOOK OUT we are a very legit contender for the title - - I just think Abaji is gone I think he sticks in the draft. Yet if we get two out of those three back - -OH YA. -Have no concrete hard evidence on WV , just feel Huggy Bear will keep them there where they are be a solid club They took some hits this year not sure whats going to happen with McBride if he comes back they will be better.

Then we have more towards the bottom. I think Tech will fall off with the departure of Beard maybe not drastic but I just think they are gonna spiral down some lost some players AND lost their Coach. I actually think Iowa State will suck really again this year just how it is & then I think K-State will struggle , Ol Bruce just has problems holding onto/keeping players , and actually the talent level is questionable for a P-5 I think, others might disagree I just don't see any hard core overly talented players on that roster. Now the Big guy there I think he has a chance to be fairly decent. looks like he could grow to have decent game , McGurl is coming back but he really doesn't impress me but yet those two right off the top of my head is about it. I also just think ol squeaks really just ain't got it anymore if he ever did. Had a decent yr at Illinois but a lot of those players were Bill holdovers. - -Then we have Iowa State and I think that pretty well speaks for it'self they are in trouble I think they really struggle again this yr

It sure looks that way, doesn't it. Beard has all the tools now... except a fanbase still not sold into basketball... but if Baylor can do it in a football state like Texas, you would think the Longhorns can, too. I just think there is some anti-basketball sentiment still around in the Texas donor pool. The youth are coming around stronger to bball.

I agree. It's that in the not so distant ages we have seen some pretty empty arena's in Austin maybe half full , and even the one's that were there was more of a tennis match crowd real polite claps - -short pause and short claps - -NOT basketball atmosphere. It's going to take some time as I have said - - I think the anti basketball sentiment is just basically from lack of proof/production.

I mean and it may sound crazy but I still think even when they had some studs Durant - - PJ Tucker their surrounding cast was good - - - but not really great , I just think Texas Fans had higher expectations during those times and they weren't met. When you are known as a football School / State and your trying to win fans over that under achievement in THEIR fans eyes/minds just doesn't cut it.

Texas has had some pretty dam good big men and this past year they were a really strong team BUT still for what they had they under achieved - -is it because of it in a large amount because of the Coaching ? - - The answer for me answer is YES - - YES it was. Shaka knew that , he knew with what he had in the eyes of their fans he wasn't getting it done. He got out before they threw him out.

They now have that Coach but it's gonna take time for them to become believers in that program again and start putting butts in the seats. I personally don't think you will see some huge mass return like at the beginning of this coming yr. It's gonna take a year or 2 - - possibly even three - -However Chris is the guy that can get that program to a power.

Chris is loaded THIS year , he is going to get the recruits , he is going to change Texas recruits minds. Many of those that were leaving the state will now stay. Like I told Marco - Will Beard own the State of Texas - umm NO , your big time blue bloods the Duke's - - The Kentucky's - -Some for KU - -Some for Gonzaga - -- Some for Michigan St - -the bluebloods STILL gonna be able to pull big players out , as you know these are the Schools that have been blue bloods for ages - well except Gonzaga - -But even with Beard now at Texas , there are some that STILL going to go to the fore mentioned Schools , Big reason is just bcause of their name - -their tradition/history

Chris has work to do , can't afford a slip up. You get these football crazy Texas fans you get them to come - -start coming back and then you slip up, - -they are going to skee-daddle real quick, but I think if it can truly be done , Chris is the one that will turn that football School to at least a more level sports field

Boy I'm telling you , Seth Curry has been huge for Philly in this series - - -HUGE. - -Philly playing to lose this series , they best step it up in game 7 or their Season is OVER. Game 7 Sunday night in Philly.

Once again there were just some bonehead things - - AGAIN I love Jo Jo but one more time this IS NOT the guy you wanting shooting 3's in a late game situation & tight He just can not be shooting that kind of shot latte when you are in a do or die. His best game is on the base line sweet little turn around fade away jumper or close in the lane or even the Medium range jumper but just to much on the line for that to be the go to guy to shoot the 3 in a tight late game situation. - They just CAN NOT - - CAN NOT settle for that scenario.

Again some blame AGAIN goes on Rivers - -you can't continue to play Simmons late. - -Rivers made the comment that his logic is if Simmons makes his free throws he stays in -- if he doesn't he comes out. - -Well Hello that played a part in the game 5 loss and then again tonight - - HELLO he missing and he stays finally they bring in Maxey - -he has had a couple good games in this Series - -just use your dam heda man.

I think Philly will win this Sunday but they gonna have to step up

Nm. I was confused. They're replaying yesterday's game. Up by 20 with 30 seconds left in the 3rd. How the heck did they lose this @jayballer67 ?

It was multiple things. Like I said your up 83-61 - -then it became the hack attack , for one for some time Atlanta fouled Simmons didn't matter if he had the ball or not. - - Horrible , - Horrible free throw shooter, he was back in College too. - That was one thing, then Curry who had been killing it from the three all night missed some vital one's - -Jo Jo wasn't innocent either Atlanta makes their comeback and in a very critical stretch you have Jo Jo wanting to launch a 3 - -THAT IS NOT who you want shooting a 3 at that stage of the game.

I blame Rivers for leaving Simmons in to long , he was a liability late but Rivers waited to long then he kept putting him back in - -again a liability -Why the hell he didn't play Maxey earlier - -who the hell knows. - - It was probably the biggest meltdown I EVER remember watching - -it was like Is this really happening?- - - Then Young startd throwing his BS in. - Dam I hated that kid in College & Can't stand him now

I look forward to seeing how they match up with Kansas with Bill reloaded on talent.

Look at what he did at Texas Tech.

Oh I agree Texas is loaded with talent , and I'm not saying he won't bring them to a different level - -BUT it going to take time and it's going to take convincing not just 1 year or 2 years.

Also can't go quite as far as you on him owning the state of Texas for recruiting - -True other blue bloods well wait Ain't no way I'm going to call Texas a blue blood because of Beard BUT True blue bloods will still if the talent is ther DUKE - -KENTUCKY - - -KU- - NORTH CAROLINA - GONZAGA - - MICHIGAN STATE - they still coming and they will STILL get their fair share of that Texas Talent , not willing to go there and say he will OWN the Texas Talent sorry - -these other blue bloods have gotten themselves established there to solid for that to happen

However One would think that if I was a kid and I didn't get invited to the NBA draft combine OR get invited to the G league elite camp , I think i would have to strongly consider coming back to School for another year to see if I could improve my status for the next year.

The one I'm talking about here is Remy Martin. He wasn't an invite to either , would make me think the chances of him actually showing up this year would have to be better. I think if he comes has a solid to above solid year then for sure will have to improve his chance. So glad to be back my friends • Jun 11, 2021 08:47 PM

Whew really glad to be back among friends. A week ago today , was rushed by Ambulance to hospital. Was here at the house last Friday , got up of the Couch started to the bathroom and got really light headed and bottom line passed out/blacked out. -Wife came to help me said she was gonna call I said , no just help me up I wanna go lay down. - Worked myself up took a couple of steps and passed out again/ blacked out, then she called. - spent an entire week

Just like last time 3 years ago it all deals with blood pressure , they can't figure it out. Feel like a pin cushion kept taking tests to check for damage to the heart. - -Then about 3 days ago got up to go the bathroom was supose to have someone with me but I thought I'd be macho and not bother. Worked my way into the bathroom and passed out again/blacked out. Nurses had to help me, had to have a CT but came back clean. - -Have had a Heart Cath again. 2nd time for this - -only this time they went through my wrist instead of my groin. not to bad, all they did was slice my wrist a little bit took the chute ad ran in into my arterie and then ran the wire through the chute and into my heart

Started me on a new med - -I had a couple of BP readings while in the hospital like it was 206/ 105 - -for sure stroke territory , on this new med now BUT you don't want to know the cost lol. - -A 30 day supply of these pills is - - -are you sitting down ? - the cost for these pills is 3,000 dollars juust beyond insane.

Just glad/and really lucky to be here. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Coach K to retire after 21-22 season • Jun 03, 2021 12:51 AM

@FarmerJayhawk said in Coach K to retire after 21-22 season:

K doing a full farewell tour is the most Coach K thing ever.

Man, the UNC dook rivalry just won't be the same in 2022-3. Scheyer v. Hubert just doesn't have the same juice.

These programs just might slip with these different Coach's , we already started to see NC slipping some and now I think Duke will drop off somewhat also

How much longer does Jim Boeheim hang in there? Does he retire whenever Buddy leaves the program in 1-2 years?

I would have to think Ultimate tops would be 5 at the most. I think him seeing Roy & K retiting might get him to thinking about it even more. I didn't realize K was 74 yrs old, Bilas was talking about it today on ESPN

ya find of kind of interesting this comes down the same time the hole Stevans thing is going on in Boston. Yet he is replacing Ainge upstairs. Guess it all boils down to if he wants to come back to College Basketball

Kind of Amusing reading the NC boards , them talking about ALL were gonna here ALL Season is about K's retirement and how he has to have his farewell all year lol. Maybe they need to look in the mirror , All we heard last year was Roys good bye farewell fan fare - his final year - - One poster said GOD hope we don't do anything for him when they come to Chapel Hill lmao - - ahh the love

Sure gonna be different without Roy this year and K next year Curious how recruiting goes ? - -IF Brad does come back AND he is hired by DUKE I don't think you'll see much of a drop at all - - if it's Scheyer or whoever it's gonna have to be a wait and see with them - -gonna be interesting for sure

It will be scheyer Taken over

ya I know - -he is already in place to take over. - -they talked to outside people including talking to Tommy Amaker - -BUT Scheyer will be the associate Coach in waiting and will take over in 2022.

2021-2022 Kansas Basketball Schedule • Jun 02, 2021 05:09 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 said in 2021-2022 Kansas Basketball Schedule:

The official non conference schedule has yet to be announced, but more than half of the schedule is already known including most of the high profile games. KU plays 13 non conference games per season and we know 3 match ups for sure, plus the Orlando games, and the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, and likely an 8th game if a high profile series that was supposed to start last season carries over to this year.

The 3 opponents we know for sure at this time are Michigan St., Missouri, and St. John's. KU also has the tournament in Orlando over Thanksgiving which is 3 more games. KU will most likely play North Texas or Iona in the 1st round with the hope being a KU/Alabama championship game.

That's the 6 known games for sure. The 7th is likely to be a rematch of the disastrous NCAA tournament loss to USC since those schools were supposed play a home and home beginning last season.

The SEC/Big 12 Challenge games have yet to be announced, but my guess there is either Kentucky or Auburn makes the trip to Lawrence in late January.

That leaves 5 games to fill if the USC series does begin this upcoming season and 6 if it doesn't. KU also had a home and home scheduled with Colorado that was supposed to begin last season with KU making the trip out to Boulder last season in road game before Christmas match up so that's a potential 9th game to keep an eye on whenever KU announces the non conference schedule which is usually sometime in summer.

@FarmerJayhawk, you know anything else about the non conference schedule next season?

I think we have a home & home with Gonzaga starting this year - - -MIGHT be next but do know we have a Home and home with them
