Mcgriff on fire 🔥 as OSU is up 12 on Baylor late in The first half

nine at the half - -Oklahoma State has pretty much lead the entire half. Only one problem. It's just one half lol , one thing I notice and have noticed before when Meyer comes in for Baylor - it's one HUGE black hole. That kid only has one thing in mind , seeing how many shots he can jack up while in for his limited minutes. 3/4 of the time he touches the ball , it's going up lmao.

I love watching guys play with more emotion. Let out a yell after a big rebound, clapping their hands and pumping up the crowd. This teams seldom even smiles on the court. @HighEliteMajor you can play with emotion and not be taunting buddy. You don’t have to stare down guys and flex in their face. I think you want some cockiness just not to much. We’ve had dozen of emotional players that weren’t classless.

I'll agree with you 10000% kjayhawks. - - this walking around like zombies - like you say and never smiling - they act like they hate the game. - Let them show emotion. Agree you don't have to flex AT the guy , you can do it running down the court, you wanna yell at you slam it over somebody - then good GOD - YELL. - -a little cockiness never hurts anybody, right now you have to wonder sometimes if these guys are even alive. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Just saw a perfect example of what we are talking about kjayhawks , watching the Oklahoma State Baylor game. -- Baylor breaking out on a three on one , Tristian Clark slams , nothing wrong with that what so eve -- I wanna see that, so some dam emotion, your having fun at what you do, BASKETBALL not the NY Stock market. Now if that would of been us, would of turned around jogged back and nothing

Ran across an Article before today's game and Coach Self had this to say.

Coach brought up the fact saying, That this team lacks some personality. He said it's ok to show some emotion out there on the floor - -following this up by giving some examples. He referred to the game against Oklahoma, talking about with a couple of minutes left how Ochai throwing the perfect lob to be the icing on the cake and them bouncing back on the defense with a smile plastered on his face. He talked about Ochai last year when he started playing how he after every three pointer Agbaji celebrating with hand gestures and a big smile which in turn the bench would get in the act.

Coach says this year the team really doesn't react saying the players are kind of stone faced and he really don't like that a lot. Coach said he can go down the line of regular Contributors and point out how most of them rarely show much fire then saying Ochai is one that can and Self would like to see that return.

Coach said Ochai plays better when he is playing with more joy , Some guys can play with joy and not smile - - Some guys need to smile with joy and Coach thinks Ochai is a guy that needs to show some personality when out there on the floor playing.

Found these things interesting. Cause just the other day myself and another poster here can't remember who both agree with these things. They said it just looks like this team just is not having ANY fun. I responded and said I agreed they just almost look robotic/zombie like a lot of times. Like Coach said it's ok to show emotion let people know you got that fire in your gut. Show that other team when you dominate /make good plays hell let it out, let that Scream after you- - Doke you flush that ball, after one of your many power Dunks show some emotion Ochai after you take that lob flush let em know. Kind of like what chocolate Thunder( Daryl Dawkins ) used to say when he went up it was kind of like don't try and challenge me this is MY TIME - smile act like your having fun. On 3's pull let arrow back let it fly let the bench pull the arrow. Don't be afraid to do the chest bumpin. things like these adds a degree of intimidation to the other team when they see you like that they know your having a good time.

These guys most of the time are so listless. they make a huge play a BIG key play afterwards most the time they just kind of jog back to the other end .Hell Doke you don't have to stand over the guy BUT after you power flush on a guy it's OK to flex as your running back to the other end. After you swat a ball back, and it prints Spalding on the guys forehead it's ok to high five your team mate let out your yell. It sends a message like don't be bringing that trash in here. I couldn't agree more, like Coach said it's OK to show some personality let these other guys know, let them come to the realization of who they are playing. Umm your playing KU and not some St Mary's sister of the blind. Do these things hell it doesn't hurt to have fun just to mechanical I know of others that feel the same, was good to hear coach bring it up. Let's do this. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@jayballer73 I thought they already decided to build a new one for next season, I’m not up to date on Texas athletics lol. I wouldn’t want to be a basketball coach in Texas. They had the best college player I’ve ever seen in KD and couldn’t sell out!

They will never buy in full to Basketball. To invested to their beloved football program , they are just NOT a Basketball School. - - I actually am kind of surprised at some of the recruits they have gotten. - I as a recruit would not get jacked up playing in front of a little over half to three quarter arena all the time.

Texas Hawk say they're new arena isn't opening till 22-23 I didn't know when , All I knew was that they were going to have a new one soon.

found kind of interesting Devon/Marcus • Jan 16, 2020 09:07 PM

Was bored , decided to scroll through team stats, kind of surprised me. Just remembering from past about how people saying Marcus worthless a liability on offensive end. - - Devon's stats 1st - then Marcus.

Devon's stats : fg% 46.1 3pt% 31.3% To per 2.5 Asst per 4.4 Asst/To 66-38 Reb per 3.8

Marcus stat's : fg% 46.6 3pt% 35.7% To per 1.6 Asst per 4.3 Asst/To 68-26 Reb 3.8

Actually Marcus line is better pretty much across the board - - in less minutes - - -Devon 34.5 minutes to Marcus 29.3 . Love em both but Marcus is holding his own for sure on top of the fact that Marcus better on defensive end if only because if nothing else able to guard multiple positions and you usually see him on the opposing teams best player. Haven't heard any major complaints about him on defense.

Next year's lineup could be long on the perimeter- Garrett 6'5, Thompson 6'5, Agbaji 6'5, Braun 6'6, Enaruna 6'8, Wilson 6'8, Grant-Foster 6'7. Obviously a few of those guys could be interchangeable in a 4 guard look.

love the look of multiple possibilities. - - flexible -- -versatile - -long - - inter changeable. - -

@jayballer73

I think he will sit Saturday's game but that's just a gut feeling after seeing the team play without him Tuesday.

If he can manage the pain and practice I say play him. I don't know if Moss is going to put up a 3rd straight 15+ point game. Without that kind of production from him or another guard like Braun it will be difficult to win Saturday without him on the floor at least in some capacity. Texas is a much better defensive team and plays at a slow tempo while shooting a lot of 3's, recipe for keeping a game close

Understandable , yet question is would you rather play him Saturday , possibly risk being hurt again , increase the chance of him being out longer even possible season ending for a league win or let him sit heal some more and have him or increase the chance some of having him for the rest of the season an NCAA tourney time ?

Things to be excited about with this guy on offense next season.

Step back 3 pointer is a signature move of his. Quick release.

Midrange game- Lost art but can be useful and effective when needed.

Ball-handler with size and gets in the paint. Will finish above the rim in transition, cuts to the basket or around the rim in general.

Cannot leave him wide open, deadly.

Love those traits , can't wait. Yet I'm not ready for this season to be over yet ya know ? - I'm ready for a solid shooter though for sure could sure use him now I've seen some game hi-lites and what's not to like ?

Big question which I truly don't know - -haven't really hear a lot about because most the time it's all about offense , my question is how is he defensively ? -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

well could be some good news. - -You know though , if we could - -I almost think I might want to go ahead and sit him for the Texas game , even if he could go. I think we could run the same line up as Tuesday and might be ok , give Devon some additional time.

There was some mention with the hip piner a lot just depends on if/when he gets hit during a game - - a sudden change of direction will effect the hip pointer , if we could just get through yet another game give him some extra time. - Be more beneificial down the line over one game now. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Might be nursing an injury? However Sampson made some changes to the lineup and looks like Q was one of them. The Natives are getting to see what he was last year. Here's some snips.

Is Grimes totally healthy? The way he's playing I hope not. He's become invisible out there.

Grimes is mentally shook. Asking him to take care of the ball AND to be a scoring threat has killed his offensive game. He was grossly overrated in HS, that much is also obvious.
He is a decent player but not even one of the 4 best on this team.
Him going to the NBA early is just the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
He could stay here through his senior year and get better and then who knows. Its definitely time to dial back any lofty expectations for Grimes. He’s merely an average player for us.

I still thought we were getting a really good player. He is way too soft on offense. His defense is mostly pretty good. Was definitely overrated as a 5 star. His biggest weakness is between the ears, unfortunately. Perhaps he can have a good game soon and gain some confidence. We need him to start balling at some point. I would think, based solely on his play, that Sampson might start sitting him a lot more. Aside from a handful of games (6?), and a few of those were early, he has been way too timid

one would think & see what he was doing at KU ? - I mean NOW these fans see what we went through with Q. - -just where he was grossly over rated - -now he is doing exactly the same at Houston, also having the same attitude as he had here

Start Isaiah Moss • Jan 15, 2020 03:25 PM

HighEliteMajor said:

@BeddieKU23 Whatever gets Dave off the court when Doke is playing, I'm going to generally be in support of. Self clearly prefers Moss to start over Braun, since he did it. The "get the younger player more PT in prep for March" narrative still has weight if we view Braun as being that better option later this season over Moss. That may be a bit hazy. If Moss starts and he's struggling, we have Braun off the bench (when Dotson is back). Sold. But if Dotson's out, I'd start both Moss and Braun.

McCormack's night vs. OU is just another example. 15 minutes, 4 points, 3 rebounds, two turnovers. Just a hindrance to our offense when paired with Doke. Plus, he's so disjointed. Roberto Duran, hands of stone (as I think I saw someone say .. I added the Duran part). That 18 foot jumper 15:25 of the first half that hit the backboard first was a great reason why Dave just needs to play down low.

Why does Self seem married to starting Dave in the face of the obvious?

Weird, but I liked DeSousa in his brief time on the Court. I would have liked to have seen another 2 minute opportunity for him, just to see. But I understand why that didn't happen.

I think DeSousa is just lost. - -pretty much running amuk . - The truly only thing he is going off of right now is instinct. - Maybe able to rebound , his offense is nowhere to be found.

I truly thought we would of seen some better then what we HAVE seen. - -I understand that his minutes have been limited. Yet there is a reason they have been limited. A lot of times there also is a reason why players get amount of minutes. How they work in practice etc , etc. Silvio just looks out of place - he is another case right now where HE looks sped up , careless.

I really hope he can get things going cause we all have seen that glimpse of what he can do. At least boarding/defending right now in the minutes he is getting really not much

Was up early this morning was surfing TV, just came across by coincidence on ESPN 2. There we were playing Georgetown in 2013 around Christmas - just beating them like a drum. - -Mercy we had talent everywhere - would of been a great time for a Nattie.

Tarik Black ( 17 points ) - -Embiid ( Fr ) -- Wayne S. - - - Wiggins - - Lucas - - Mason -- Tharpe - Then believe saw Greene sitting the bench - just a good old fashion butt kicking like ended up 86-54 mercy what we could do with these guys now Especially with what seems like a very down year talent wise and scoring wise. -- ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
