Does anyone care to predict the CMU game? • Sep 08, 2018 09:03 PM

Pooka would've helped last week no question

Does anyone care to predict the CMU game? • Sep 08, 2018 08:56 PM

Pooka is really, we haven't had a guy that shifty and speedy since Jake Sharp.

@Texas-Hawk-10 with out a few drops and silly penalties we would be up 17 right now offense has to get moving and put doubt on CMU.

Missed a golden opportunity to take control there smh

@JayHawkFanToo did you see the KSU fumble that they ruled an incomplete pass? It was a terrible call and made me pissed about last weeks for KU.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I dont disagree but I'm surprised nonetheless

How about yhe defense, anyone remember the last time we held an FBS scoreless for a half. Hopefully the offense can get going because I doubt it lasts. I feel like they were a few penalties from having another score.

I think it's only a matter of time before Kendrick is our QB. Bender has done good today of taking what us given and not forcing but kendrick can throw it well on the run.

@Kcmatt7 yes

Does anyone care to predict the CMU game? • Sep 08, 2018 07:46 PM

Defense has played well but they can't hold CMU scoreless all day. Offense would be in better had penalties not halted drives

Random KC Chiefs thoughts • Sep 08, 2018 06:06 PM

I’m not huge chiefs fan, I root for them and Dallas because they have always been on in my area. But the chiefs don’t look like a playoff team to me. The offensive line looks lousy, as does the secondary, and pretty much the whole defense. Mahomes is gonna take some lumps at some point, I still think he has trouble with accuracy, maybe he can get away with the same stuff he did at TT with Hill, by throwing the ball as far as he can and praying a guy runs under it.

@KUSTEVE I’m kinda the same way

Does anyone care to predict the CMU game? • Sep 08, 2018 06:02 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 that’s a crazy idea, but it just may work! Lol

Does anyone care to predict the CMU game? • Sep 08, 2018 02:52 AM

One stat to look at for this game is that UK ran for 300 yards and 7.0 yard per carry. Beaty talked about running the ball more and both RBs averaged over 5 yards per carry against Nichols, I personally thought we abandoned the run game too quick last week. Run block is easier than pass block for the offensive line, I’d give it to Herbert early and often. Still no word on pooka, my sources say it’s a eligibility issue with school so he may never play a down for us.

Does anyone care to predict the CMU game? • Sep 08, 2018 01:33 AM

I’m picking a surprise upset by Kansas 27-21, sadly we are dogs a team that is probably gonna finish in the bottom half of the MAC. I think all the whispers about Beaty and the disappointment from last week fires up the team just enough to escape with the first road win since 09 (46 games). CMU has a similar style to Nichols, which could benefit the defense seeing it again. The key remains upfront for the offense and if the line can show improvement, which is possible after the first game for a group that was thrown together a few weeks ago. CMU let up 35 points at Kensucky last week and that may not seem like a ton but it is if you consider that Uk had 4 turnovers. I look for a big day from Steven Sims to redeem himself from a lackluster performance.

ESPN plus • Sep 08, 2018 01:23 AM

I thought it was a decent deal, the game coverage was solid outside of the commentators lol. With ESPN+ you get Beatys hawk talk and press conferences. Hopefully that means you can get Bill Selfs, they will be worth watching.

GET OFF MY LAWN • Sep 07, 2018 03:39 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 that’ll help wake a fella up on cold winter morning hunting haha

GET OFF MY LAWN • Sep 07, 2018 03:36 AM

I think everyone out in my neck of the woods has dealt with electric fences at some point. Some of us used to do it off of a dare, cough cough lol. Parents these days crack me up, maybe your kids should just listen and stay off his lawn. If you can’t make them follow a simple rule like that how are they gonna follows laws when they are adults. Destruction of others property was one way to meet a leather belt in my household growing up. I did some stupid stuff no doubt but stealing (not that they are stealing) and messing with others property wasn’t it.

Believe in something • Sep 06, 2018 05:36 AM

@justanotherfan That and your list of teams that don’t have better QB ratings include several teams with rookie or first year QBs starting. How the hell can they have better rating than Kaepernick if they haven’t played. Come on Man!! Lol it honestly feels odd disagreeing with you, still love ya man.

Believe in something • Sep 06, 2018 05:28 AM

@justanotherfan I think Kaepernick is good enough to start at a few select teams in the NFL. He declined his player option and has rejected offers to play. Not many QBs last with that record, that's a fact. He could be competing for the starting Job right now in Denver. I think it's a fairly safe assumption that he didn't because he was in with Nike and was gonna make good money.

Believe in something • Sep 05, 2018 06:11 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Exactly, not only are people not buying his so called sacrifice but anyone in marketing should've known it was a bad move. Kaep has been against police and has been wearing cops as pigs for sock, so you're gonna lose cops as customers. He has been vocal about supporting Castro, which means people that are against communism and murder may take their business elsewhere as well. Its just not a smart move on many fronts IMO

If the Democrats take the House • Sep 05, 2018 02:47 AM

@BShark Yep, almost smack dab in the center of our state lol. Ya the cities are crazy, my wife loves HGTV (ik big shocker there lol) we was watch houses hunters a few weeks back and a couple that met and graduated from KU a few years back were looking for an apartment in Chicago, the cheapest decent one was $400,000. She was a work from home soon to be mother in marketing and he was a CPA. I had no idea how in heck they could begin to afford such a place.

If the Democrats take the House • Sep 05, 2018 02:13 AM

@BShark the cost of living is just plain too high, I think about how my My grandfather was able to raise 7 kids while my grandmother never worked, live in a good neighborhood and retire @ 59 years old, all without a college degree. Just about every family I know both parents work and they barely get bye, like my family. We are most definitely on a budget and have very little extra money and with what we are able to put away likely won’t be enough with the increase and inflation by the time we retire do us a heck of a lot of good. I’m worried that if minimum wage is increased the job market will suffer. We all hear about how bad kids are these and I’m not saying I disagree but who actually raises their kids? Mine are in daycare all day and see me 3 hours at the most everyday. They are too young to be in sports but if they do activities that time will decrease. So in reality is the cost of living an issue with kids as well? I think so. The problem isn’t necessarily capitalism I thinks monopolization and corporatism personally.

Believe in something • Sep 05, 2018 02:04 AM

@JayHawkFanToo same with most of my friends on FB. I just wonder what Nike was hoping to gain, the NFL has seen drops in viewership for the same stuff.

Reason for optimism • Sep 05, 2018 02:00 AM

@DanR what’s the whispers around town buddy?

Cancer Sucks • Sep 05, 2018 12:03 AM

@bskeet if only you were on the field in OT.....

Reason for optimism • Sep 05, 2018 12:01 AM

@BShark I think Stanley is a turnover machine and I really think people believe he much more mobile than he actually is. If you want mobility then Kendrick needs to get the nod IMO. Like I said the way this season is shaping up we’ll probably get a chance to see all 3. Even if Bender isn’t hurt, a team that loses several games in a row usually changes QBs just to see if it makes a difference, even tho it probably won’t in our case.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 04, 2018 11:57 PM

@BShark I would agree, the football team stinks no doubt, but it still brings in revenue to the city and university. The football program will be profitable as long as we are in the B12 with the royalties that pays.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 04, 2018 10:12 PM

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 04, 2018 10:12 PM

@Kcmatt7 It was stupid to use Kendrick when he did, the first time the offense had scored on 2 of its last 3 drives and Bender hit a wide open Sims in what should’ve been a TD. They were moving the ball at that point so why throw him in and in OT, everyone knew what play was gonna happen and that’s too easy to defend. My question is why didn’t he try to put him in the third quarter when the offense had gone stagnant? That I would understand, it’s like Beaty and co lack common sense of the game of football completely.

Not In and Out Too? • Sep 04, 2018 09:41 PM

I this is exactly what I speak of in politics friends. It has turned into a contest of who can be more of a hypocrite. Take off the the Democrat and republican glasses folks, all politicians are liars and cheats to help some company most of the time. The republicans are big oil and the Democrats are big Pharma. Sometimes I think it all just a plot to make us think we have free choice but we don’t.

Believe in something • Sep 04, 2018 09:29 PM

@approxinfinity I haven’t bought anything Nike in several years, my mowing shoes are Nike lol. This definitely wouldn’t force me to not purchase their products, I’m with you on them being the original evil empire on sports. I don’t know that I believe the rhetoric of ā€œbelieve in something, even if it means sacrificing everythingā€ from him because of what I stated above, he had offers to be a back Up QB in the league and declined them. I wouldn’t pay him starter money at this point ether. If I was the Dolphins I’d try to sign him because he could be better than who they they have but doubt he’d take it. He seems more interest in trying to milk out his fame in other ways. Hopefully Nike is willing to put money up to help single income families, that’s where it starts IMO. The crap neighborhoods I’ve lived in that was the common denominator not race. I do appreciate Colin being man enough to donate to the cause. The whole burning of Nike or other products is wasteful and stupid, never understood that. If I really hated something like that I’d sell it or donate it as a foster parent I can assure you there are plenty of kids that need clothes and shoes out there.

Reason for optimism • Sep 04, 2018 09:14 PM

@BShark I think Stanley is far and away the worst we have just my opinion. I’m sure Kendrick will get a start sooner rather later. Hell if the line can’t do any better all 3 may with how many licks Bender took.

Believe in something • Sep 04, 2018 02:43 AM

Not sure why they would use him as the face of an ad campaign but it’s whatever. Don’t know that I get the whole lose everything ether, he was already benched and not going to be resigned. He has become more famous for his off the field stuff than his on the field. We’ll have to see how it works out I reckon, I don’t know that it really bothers me or that I really care to be honest.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 04, 2018 01:03 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree, half it is on the oline but at that point you had to think that we weren’t going to run it effectively. I think a option play could’ve worked, that play was definitely obvious. I would’ve ran a quick hitter slant, they had trouble covering that or the option with Kendrick.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 03, 2018 10:28 PM

I think the more I think about Beaty, the madder I get. Keegan ran an article today that really pointed out some of the stupid stuff he did. I’m debating on wether Pete Carroll passing instead of using beast mode at the one was dumber than Beaty putting in Kendrick in OT to run it? I think I’d side with the latter being worse just because everyone knew it was coming, the pass probably wasn’t expected at least.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 03, 2018 06:37 PM

@KUSTEVE at this point I'm thinking the goal posts may come down after the spring game.

How 'bout these young Royals • Sep 03, 2018 04:17 PM

I’ve been telling my friends at work for a month they need to just put in the younger guys to see what they got. It obvious they ain’t gonna spend any money so better develop this younger guys so that maybe they can be competitive next season.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 02, 2018 09:55 PM

@Gorilla72 I didn’t see him on the field at any point, if he did I’d say it was on special teams.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 02, 2018 09:15 PM

So this is our 12th straight loss, anyone know what the record is for consecutive losses in our program, I think it could be in real danger this season.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 02, 2018 08:02 PM

@jayballer73 definitely I was so GD mad last night I was shaking. Maybe we should start a page to bring back Mangino.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 02, 2018 07:55 PM

@jayballer73 sarcasm my friend

Cancer Sucks • Sep 02, 2018 07:07 PM

Sadly I’ve traveled this path with too many friends and family members. Good luck

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 02, 2018 06:17 AM

Question, is there anyway that is logical that David Beaty keeps his job? I highly doubt he’s fired this week because it really wouldn’t gain us a whole lot. Long hinted at a bowl game being needed, we maybe able to win 2 games but I don’t see anyway we could 6 wins with having lost this one. Question 2, if Beaty beats KSU would that keep his job?

Reason for optimism • Sep 02, 2018 06:13 AM

Obviously we all have a sick feeling after being controlled by an FCS team for the most part Saturday and completely blew a game that they put a bow on for us. I will say before I drift off to sleep and I’ve said this before Nicholls could be a better team than both CMU and Rutgers. Now I’m not expecting to win any game at this point but I don’t think that is a stretch. Nicholls should’ve beat Georgia two years ago and had every chance to beat A&M last season. The offensive line was terrible especially the snaps, but that can be improved. The offensive line is a group that has to know each other’s assignments and play with continuity. The bad snaps killed several drives and helped us to 1.8 average per rush. Stephon Robinson left me very impressed at the WR spot on a off night for Sims( doesn’t happen too often so I’m not gonna bag on him), Kerr Johnson also looked good. I thought Bender did as much as you could for a guy that had zero time to throw coupled with shit snaps repeatedly. I think that if the line is able to improve Bender and the group of receivers can do some decent stuff. The defense has some good pieces if they can learn to play together and be in the right spot. I thought they ran out of gas after being on the field for 22+ minutes the second half, a unfortunate face mask killed what would’ve been a 3rd and long late. That stuff happens, I’m more disappointed in the offensive line than any other position group. I’ll give a quick shout out to Rui for hitting a 54 yarder, that was impressive and the special teams had a solid night. Looking at some of the stats I think we actually may have abandoned the run game too soon. As I said we averaged just 1.8 yard per rush but in college the sacks and bad snaps count as a run. Williams and Herbert both averaged more than 5 yards per carry. I’ve always believed that a team grows the most between the first and second game. Last season CMU went to 3 OTs to beat a Rhode Island (finished with 3 wins in FCS) team that missed 2 short FGs to win and went on to win 8 games including spanking us. Now we haven’t seen that jump from our team since Beaty as been here so I’m not beating the farm on it.

I can’t do it anymore • Sep 02, 2018 05:51 AM

I’ll probably end up watching again but it probably won’t be the whole game.

David Beaty and Other Musings • Sep 02, 2018 04:02 AM

Fun fact of the day Beaty now has a 50% win percentage against FCS and a 3% win percentage against FBS.

I can’t do it anymore • Sep 02, 2018 03:45 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 the players deserve support coach deserve to have the sh** slapped outta him.
