I think there a big difference between the two. Chiefs have the best QB, TE, C and maybe a few defensive players at their position that had won a championship already. We don’t have the best of anything on our team. Sure a few of these guys were around for 22 but mainly just Juan. I would say me winning the power ball is more likely than us winning a NC.

Bill Self has said Hunter Dickinson will be doing senior night festivities and Juan will not because he is planning staying for next season. So we are not getting a PG for next season.
@bskeet I’m worried we could end up as a 4 seed. I feel like the 2s and 1s do much better open weekend than the 3s and the 4s historically.
We need to take the cuffs off of Elmarko and start him over KJ. 4 guards tell them to let it fly and see what happens

@jayballer67 BYU is a solid team that can beat anyone when they are hitting. The key against them is hold the ball and keep them from running.
The ladies will go further than the men in both tournaments. At least we have something to watch to thinking positively

KU women outlasted the conference champions in OU at AFH this afternoon. This ladies have turned around their season winning 8 of their last 9 contests. They have to feel pretty good about their NCAA tournament chances right now. I think if they are able to win 1 game in KC they are a lock to go dancing. Heck of a turn around from January. I honestly think they have a better shot to make the sweet 16 than the our men do.
I pretty much stated this on the game thread, easily the most bleak Kansas basketball has looked in my life time. Realistically the late 70s or early 80s is the last time the outlook was this bad.
First question is our NIL that GD bad or what why can’t we get shooters and athletes. Even Gurley on the radio is commenting on how unathletic we are compared to Baylor.
Juan had one of if not his best game of the season today but his lack of aggressiveness has been killer at times. The defense doesn’t have to respect any of his game offensively or KJs. Those are two huge problems. He doesn’t start on any team in the top half of this conference and there isn’t a guard in college basketball that can’t take him off the dribble. He’s simply put not the best pass first PG in Kansas history sorry but statistically speaking he’s not even close. He won’t be remembered as a top 5 PG here. I personally don’t think he is good enough athletically to play over sea even.
Big Hunt would be great if we had shooters around him. Think of Doke in 2018. He was much more limited offensively than Hunt is but made it work because we had NBA guards around him. He has to get stronger and stop the pre Madonna BS.
KJ, I love this dude no question and he’s had a tough year personally with his mom. He’s a good guy to be in a Mitch Lightfoot type of role. Hes flat out not a guy you want playing 30 minutes at the 4. He can’t guard outside of the post, struggles guarding taller big men, doesn’t rebound well and cant do anything offensively other than dunk.
This team doesn’t have a player that requires respect from 3 point land. Juan shoots the best at 39% but doesn’t shoot it often enough to matter. Timberlake was a huge swing and miss in the portal. Dude is shooting 25% from distance this season. Furphy has now gone ice cold from 3 over the last few weeks and Kevin has struggled since conference play started from deep.
Everyone one on this team can go outside of Hunt and Furphy for all I care. I think we need to pack it in and be down with some of these guys. In March it’s always the same thing that wins. A great coach and NBA caliber guards. I think we have one of the two maybe not sure at this point. I’m perfectly fine with firing Self if we lose Tuesday. Start fresh we got pretty lucky in 2022 probably won’t happen again.
@bskeet ya I wouldn’t say the refs cost us the game with the mistakes we made but they damn sure made it more difficult on us.
@bskeet No Sir I’ll be 36 years young this year. I’m just worried we are gonna turn into Indiana at this point. Recruiting looks bad no shooters on our commit list and I have just never been this down thinking about not only our near future (first round loss to a school no one has heard of) or the future as in next season. This is really really bad IMO.

If I’m Self KJ needs to play less minutes, I’m sorry he’s a great kid but he can’t shoot and can’t rebound those are two pretty important pieces to being a good basketball player. Start Elmarko and go 4 out 1 in and lets see if it works. What we are doing with 2 bigs obviously is not working

Crazy stat, we are shooting 60% from the floor and down double digits. We don’t have a ton of turn overs either. The achilles heal continues to be 3 point shooting and 3 point defense.
