@brooksmd I kind of feel bad for missing it - BUT - my consolation is this: If I would have watched - Kentucky would be playing on Monday.
You're all welcome!!

@VailHawk Consider it BRUNG !
HO - LEE - CRAP. You guys/gals won't believe this, but I JUST THIS SECOND found out about the ....Wisconsin game. I've been at the lake all day - no radio - been visiting with my son (oops - and wife) - I honestly figured there was no reason to watch - sorry @wissoxfan83 .
Man - it was an awesome day UNTIL now, even a more fantastic day now.
Rock Chalk Badgers!!
@drgnslayr Since I have nothing to lose, and don't really care.....sigh..... here's to a Wisconsin vs Mich. St final on Monday!

Haha - dude - that could get you in a whole lotta trouble !
Your real name isn't Phil Miller is it ?
@Crimsonorblue22 I guess it's all in the perspective !
@MoonwalkMafia Lol - I don't know anything about him at all, but I literally laughed out loud at the " upper class turd ". Ok, if everyone says we don't want him, we don't want him.
We all wanted Selby though didn't we........... Crap.
I've been thinking about this post since @JhawkAlum asked the question this morning.
I say YES, we want him.
The super nice fellows we've been getting the past few years have netted us 9, 10 losses per year and no deep runs into the tournament. Hardly any runs into the second weekend.
Maybe it's time for a D-1 D-bag. If that's really what he is.
Maybe it's time we recruit nasty, play nasty.
Aww - I'm just foolin.
@jaybate-1.0 "You were very kind and empathetic to me one time when I was feeling a bit blue."
I think that's one of the main reasons we're all here, to help each other. Well, that and to bag on WSU....
I think I'm just going through a creative slump, otherwise all is pretty good, but I'm thankful that you are perceptive and thoughtful. I really do appreciate that in people. So thank you.
Heck, while I'm thanking people, I'd like to thank @approxinfinity for this friendly forum in which we can all cuss and discuss, vent and laugh and cry! I feel so much better after a nasty KU loss getting to talk it over with you folks than I did just screaming into my pillow and kicking the dog. (It's a joke - I don't even have a dog!)
I'd like to thank @bskeet also, I know you've put in a considerable amount of time and effort here to make this a better place.
Thanks to @drgnslayr, @wissoxfan83, @Crimsonorblue22, @globaljaybird, @brooksmd - whoa- I can see right now I shouldn't have started this - there are SO MANY who make this place vibrant and fun and a place to learn more about basketball - and life!
I kind of wish we could make a way to meet each other some time, but at the same time the anonymity is a fun aspect too. Have you ever finally met someone after talking to them for a very long time on the phone - a customer, or vendor, or whatever? I'm almost always disappointed because the person never looks or acts like what I have pictured in my mind's eye.
Any way - thanks to everyone on this site for making it great. It really is GREAT!
I hope you all have a great weekend and a blessed Easter.
@jaybate-1.0 Yeah - cuz we're all smarter than you..... :(
@RockChalkinTexas I'd be OK with a few BILLION dollars. And yes, I'd buy new hair.
@nuleafjhawk Maybe I have a future in politics.
Or Coaching.
@RockChalkinTexas hehe - i know......
@RockChalkinTexas I SO want to make a cheerleader comment, but I ain't gonna.
@drgnslayr I used to work with a lady whose son played four years under Coach Knight at Indiana. This would have been in the mid 80's. She would be incensed when any one degraded Bob Knight. She thought he walked on water. She knew how tough and hardnosed he was, she didn't have her head buried in the sand or anything, but she also said he was the most thoughtful and caring person she had ever met. She said he treated those boys as though they were his own and really loved them. He felt his discipline was showing them that he cared about them. I personally felt he may have gone overboard at times, but I would not say that around her!! Or else.....:facepunch:
@drgnslayr Lol - actually it's been busier than I thought it would be today.
But I have my priorities straight - my KU brethren and ........sistern ?
@drgnslayr always liked Shaka (ok, Chaka) Khan.....
@drgnslayr Under the "short" bus, as someone so eloquently stated a few days ago!
@drgnslayr - I apologize ahead of time to any Wichita-ites. Wichitonians....Whatever the nomenclature is.
I once told a buddy of mine who was getting ready to move to Wichita - " Wichita is not where you move TO - it's where you move FROM ". (He now lives in Flower Mound, Tx)
I know, I know, it's a great place, great state, blah blah blah. But is it really a destination for a D-1 coach? I guess we'll see.
I'm a little weirded out by the fact that, since he's the new golden boy of all of the coaching world (puke) , why didn't Texas want him? Not even pick up the phone to call from what I understand. Somethin ain't right.
@DCHawker Oh yeah, what was I thinking?
@Statmachine True OAD's have not helped KU one bit.
@Statmachine You say that as if it's a bad thing....
@Crimsonorblue22 My skin's kinda beige. Other than that .......
@Crimsonorblue22 Used to - 1970 Mustang. Or as I refer to her " My First True Love ".
Now it's a dark grey Toyota Camry. I know - but great mileage!! Wait - my wife has a burgundy Jeep - i drive it sometimes......
@REHawk Holy Smoke - you're right. Even after I read that, I had to think for a WHILE - " who the &#^ &^ is Xavier ? ".
But - if you mention the name Kirk, Raef, Jerod, Nick - or about 500 others, I will remember those! Hmmm
@Crimsonorblue22 57 in July.....
@Crimsonorblue22 yeah - old in years too! But I try to be immature enough to offset some of that.
@drgnslayr Thank you!! I was going to look for an image, but I don't know how to import it anyway. I was hoping a good samaritan would do that!!
@HighEliteMajor I'm so happy that I'm not the only opponent of the OAD system.
Honestly, I have never met Oubre, I'm sure I would like him as a person, but as a KU basketball player, he means nothing to me. I guarantee that in 5 years, (maybe less) I will have no recollection of him.
@drgnslayr Lol - thanks ?
@Crimsonorblue22 I know you're all gushy over the Uber-dude, but that haircut.......
When you were a kid did you ever have one of those stick ponies? I can't look at him without thinking about that.
@drgnslayr uhhhhh..... I meant his Dad VOLUNTARILY shows up at every game. Yeah - that's what I meant.
@Statmachine No. I can't!
But it makes me think why do guys as obviously talented/gifted as him stay in school - at least for a while, when other much less experienced and talented players bolt as soon as they can?
I don't get it. I know everyone says it's the money, but if you've been broke for 18, 19, 20 years does another year or two matter? PLUS with another couple years of experience and learning, you're going to make even MORE money in the Pros. Argggggghhhhh.
@Statmachine OW. OW. OW. One of my customers/friends (a K-State fan) knows him well and rubs my nose in it frequently.
@drgnslayr said:
How do we get him to play like that for 30+ games a year?
I guess we bring Pops to all the games.
@BeddieKU23 I don't know about Smart. I don't believe he would have pulled that crap more than once with Self.
Plus - we would have gotten Forte. Not a bad BOGO deal.
@drgnslayr I don't hang out in restaurant kitchens either, but I do watch a lot of Guy's Grocery Games.
Sorry - slow day at work.
Lots of articles have been written about the One and Done travesty (that's my word) and many have leaned towards the fact that it's just F-in up college basketball.
I literally don't remember a lot of the OAD's that have been here - I do remember Selby, Embiid, Wiggins, now Oubre (sigh.....really?) - but have ANY of them made any kind of lasting impact (positive impact) on the University of Kansas? With Wiggins AND Embiid we lost 10 games and bowed out early in the NCAA's. With Oubre (sigh...really?) we lost 9 games (my apologies, I guess Oubre must be better than Wiggins and Embiid combined.....) - and bowed out early in the NCAA's. Have we won a National Championship as a result of a OAD? You could say we've won Conference Championships, but we've done that for a WHILE now, with or without them.
So - what if KU signs three OAD's? I guess we probably lose 15-18 games and hope to make it to the NIT.
@joeloveshawks said:
Totally agree. I can't imagine Selden or Perry leave.
And the funny thing is - both of them are better than someone who IS going to the NBA.
@DoubleDD said:
Could KU's lack of tournament success scare of potential OAD's?
We can only hope so!
@wrwlumpy said:
Calipari would have been fired if our bloggers were UK fans the year they lost in a high school gym in the NIT
At least we would have gotten rid of him!
@wrwlumpy then it would be time to have @approxinfinity start a new site!!
@RockChalkinTexas lol - i can handle it - just didn't know if you were being real or not. So now, if your boyfriend DOES break up with you ......... no tears here!
@RockChalkinTexas Really - NOT an April Fool's joke? The boyfriend thing, I mean.
@JayhawkRock78 It's funny - I've never been an autograph seeker, I just don't get it. BUT - something like that would be pretty dang neat to have.
@VoyagingJayhawk I don't think any of us ( at least not me - YET ) are really ready to give up on him. It's just the end of a frustrating season and we are venting. Kinda like when one my wife's family does something stupid and I'm like " let's move away from here - I'm tired of dealing with morons all the time. "
Wait - bad example - I really do feel that way. LOL - MY WIFE DOESN'T READ KUBUCKETS!!!! WHOO HOOO.
Anyway - a little sidetracked, but you get the idea.
@HighEliteMajor The OAD system is ruining college (and Pro) basketball. It's ruining my attitude, my loyalty, my enthusiasm. Not to mention our team (in my opinion).
Oh yeah. Were you referring to the Stanford team that started 5 no-name SENIORS and whooped our heavily laden MickeyD team, lead by the greatest OAD player in the history of the universe?
And Wichita State will be irrelevant for another 30 years.
And just for kicks - Georges Niang will be the SENIOR Big 12 Player of the Year next year.
WAIT !! @RockkChalkk - is this an April's Fool's joke? You rascal.
@DCHawker "but is there anyone out there that really wants to play for Kansas or play for Self anymore??? We used to get those kids, and they bled KU."
My guess is that they don't want to hear they're going to have to ride the pines until they figure out the hi-low system. Or the globetrotter shuffle. They want to run and gun and play deep into March.
I deliberately didn't write the first thing that came into my head about this, but - WOW. There is nobody on this team that is NBA ready and K.O. is no exception.
Money talks and BS gets em to the NBA.
@drgnslayr As you can tell, I agree with you, but the more I think about it, the more I guess it depends on the individual. Some people only respond to being chewed on and some people retreat. I would hope Self knows the difference, but at times it seems like a quick hook really disrupts the flow of the team.
