KU Still Number 2 in All-Time Wins • Dec 12, 2020 07:09 PM

Whew! At the time I posted, Notre Dame was up by 20+ at the half. ND barely held on to keep UK at 1 win for the season.

KU Still Number 2 in All-Time Wins • Dec 12, 2020 06:14 PM

Did you miss it? Kentucky started the season with 1903 wins compared to KU's 1899. With KU 6-1 and Kentucky 1-3, for now KU has the most overall wins. KU has 1905 wins to UK's 1904. RC

We needed this game. Fun and a confidence booster. For me that is.

Omaha Game Thread • Dec 12, 2020 12:12 AM

Ugly shot by Thompson. Good grief.

Coach Self, please encourage our guys to shoot more 3s. Braun, 48%, Agbaji 42%, Garrett 40%, and Wilson 39%. More threes for now and fewer passes into BMc and fewer drives to the rim during a time of too many missed layups. Please.

CreightonBarrel Game Random Thoughts • Dec 09, 2020 01:00 PM

Thompson's TO in crunch time really hurt and kept the score unnecessarily close. So did Braun's missed FT. Thompson isn't ready for the extra pressure by experienced guards when the game is on the line. I was surprised Thompson was handling the ball at the most critical time of the game. Nice win though. Oh hey, I put in my ESPN application to be the guy responsible for registering scores during the game. 30-45 seconds to put the score up is ridiculous.

Toronto Blue Jays discussion. • Dec 09, 2020 01:23 AM

I miss the energy Dok brought to the team; the way Dok sprinted down the court and even got out on the breaks. Dave has very little energy and is slow getting back down court on defense. But, Dave did a few things on offense that worked. Maybe he'll get better.

Toronto Blue Jays discussion. • Dec 09, 2020 12:27 AM

Our offense is the same as last year: play through the center. But, our personnel is way different. Anyone else surprised by how much of our offense is run through Dave?

Toronto Blue Jays discussion. • Dec 08, 2020 11:16 PM

Ochai 0/4 shooting and 3 TOs. Jeez

Creighton has six players scoring in double figures. I don't think I've ever seen that before. And a 7 foot freshman center averaging 11 points in 14 min. YIKES

Maybe I'm just feeling a letdown from not having Dok this year, but what the hell is going on with recruiting baseline players? BMac only played 13 minutes yesterday and Lightfoot played 4. Losing DeSousa shouldn't have been totally unexpected, so why hasn't KU brought in more baseline players? 5 guards isn't our path to a final four appearance.

Bison shooting 48% FGs in Allen. Jeez

Gonzaga Game Thread • Nov 26, 2020 07:26 PM

KU gave up a lot of layups and easy baskets, but Gonz can't shoot 68% from the field in the second half.

Here we go... • Nov 25, 2020 03:40 PM

So the Zag starters should be:

(1) Suggs, PG Fr. 6'4"
(11)Ayayi SG Jr. 6'5", last yr. 10pts/6rbs
(24)Kispert Wing, Sr. 6'7" 14 pts/4rbs
(22)Watson, F So 6'8"; 5pts/3rbs in 15 games
(2) Timme, C So 6'10" 10pts/5 rbs in 20 min

I see the Zags have a couple of footers on the bench. How much are we going to miss the luxury of Dok in the paint?

Here we go... • Nov 25, 2020 01:07 PM

Has there been an announcement by Coach Self on the 5 starters? I always hear coaches say that starting is of little consequence, but it's always interesting to me. Any word or will it be like KU starting QB at the beginning of each year?

Here we go... • Nov 24, 2020 02:56 PM

Has Gonzaga played an exhibition game? Kentucky? I'm trying to embrace the change, or at least not hate it. No exhibitions for KU, just going to go out and play the preseason number 1 team. Well, I do admire Coach Self''s courage. I no longer use a DVR, so Thanksgiving dinner will just have to wait. Rock Chalk.

HAPPY For Dok • Nov 19, 2020 11:52 AM

Finally, the NBA got one right with Dok in the first round. What an incredible transition Dok made while at KU. He's a completely different athlete than when he arrived. The Jazz is a great fit for him and I hope he has a 10 year career like our man, Greg Ostertag.

KU/Oklahoma oh boy here we go • Nov 15, 2020 03:17 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I appreciate your thoughts. With basketball starting so late, I've been left with nothing but KU football's ineptness to ponder. The success of Liberty and CC should be encouraging, if they can do it, so may we, but I'm mostly frustrated and embarrassed by our floundering football program.

KU/Oklahoma oh boy here we go • Nov 14, 2020 05:59 PM

Liberty football is in only its second year of division 1 and is currently 7-0 and ranked 22. What in the hell is KU doing wrong? Maybe Liberty is getting some players who want to be part of the beginning of a new program. Good grief: Coastal Carolina 15, Marshall 16 and SMU 19. Only Ok State is ranked ahead of these teams. Weird.

KU/Oklahoma oh boy here we go • Nov 08, 2020 01:48 PM

Is this going to be KU fooball's worst year? The 38 to 23 loss to CC was our most competitive game. I'm sure we've never fielded a worse offense. I was expecting (hoping) for baby steps forward. Instead, the offense has taken a huge step backwards so the defense has no chance of keeping the games close.

KU/Oklahoma oh boy here we go • Nov 07, 2020 10:24 PM

Jayballer: You're the best. Keep rooting for our Jayhawks.

ISU Game • Oct 31, 2020 09:01 PM

Anyone else frustrated by the success of Coastal Carolina? CC has made the transition to D1 look easy. 15 years of struggle for KU, but CC gets ranked in the top 25 in its third year in Div 1. OUCH

ISU Game • Oct 31, 2020 05:52 PM

15 yds rushing in the half on 12 carries. Why does our Oline struggle/fail every year? I thought the Oline turned the corner last year, but this is the worst unit yet.

Josh Allen Gonna Derek Carr the Chiefs • Oct 20, 2020 12:52 AM

I was glad to see the Chiefs do just enough to win this. Good road win. The running game was awesome.

Josh Allen Gonna Derek Carr the Chiefs • Oct 19, 2020 10:25 AM

Mahomes' accuracy has been off too. But, I put the Raider loss on the Chiefs' defense: Carr was 22/31, 347 yds, 3 TDs and the Raiders scored 16 points in the 4th Q. Ouch.

Josh Allen Gonna Derek Carr the Chiefs • Oct 18, 2020 01:27 PM

Weird start time on Monday. The Bills are not rushing the ball much; about 80 yds per game. After Derek Carr blistered the Chiefs' secondary, Josh Allen and his 70% completion rate must be looking forward to the game.

Mahomes needs to bounce back and play at his customary level. Against NE he was 19/29, 236 yds, 65%. Against the Raiders Mahomes was 22/43, 340 yds, 51%. Come On Man, when the refs take away a TD, just throw another. Watkins is out, but that just means Mecole Hardman will get more targets.

Repelling the Vagabond Raiders • Oct 11, 2020 07:37 PM

Alex Smith is back playing for the Washington no names, but better than a derogatory name. Good for him. I wish him great success except against the Chiefs.

Repelling the Vagabond Raiders • Oct 11, 2020 07:31 PM

Carr may be too good for the Chiefs' defense today.

Repelling the Vagabond Raiders • Oct 11, 2020 07:01 PM

Well this is going to be tight. The refs are keeping it that way.

Repelling the Vagabond Raiders • Oct 11, 2020 02:47 PM

I really enjoy the mic'd up videos on Chiefs.com. The one with Tyreek Hill was fun; he makes a little sound when he cuts and catches the ball. I can't describe it, but he does a lot of talking during the game. Go Chiefs! Kick some Raider butt today.

Repelling the Vagabond Raiders • Oct 10, 2020 02:18 PM

Are we ready for another milquetoast showing against the 15th rated offense in the NFL? After a kickass game against the Ravens, the game against the Patriots was anemic and uneventful, like the Charger game. But, NE does have the 9th ranked defense compared to KC's 14th ranked defense according to ESPN.

With a key game next week, unknown date and time, against the Bills, will Mahomes be content to do just enough or will the team play at its championship level? Mahomes is only the 9th ranked QB at 1134 yds; 5th in TDs with 11. Carr is 11th. KC needs to step up and bring its A game even though it could probably play at B- and beat the Raiders. Come on Andy, show us your NFL-best creative play calling. I think its time for the old fumblerooski.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 30, 2020 05:37 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I remember a game played in Lubbock where we played TT close with Mahomes at QB, then we made the mistake of knocking him out of the game in the second half. The second string QB came in and threw TD after TD to smash our poor team and my hopes for an upset.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 30, 2020 11:09 AM

I remember when KU played against Mahomes. He didn't overwhelm KU defenses like he has the NFL. What did Any Reid see in Mahomes? Or is Mahomes' success more attributable to Reid's system and the terrific receivers on the team. Like the Belichick/Brady connection, KC has something special with Coach Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 29, 2020 10:49 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Did you see that Mahomes' mother doesn't like anyone calling him Pat? ESPN showed a tweet that told the announcrs to stop calling him Pat. Very Funny.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 29, 2020 01:46 AM

So far, very fun game. Andy Reid with the pitch to the fullback for the 2nd TD. Wow.

Jackson had a tough half: 7/15 for 35 yds passing; 3 rushes for 41 yds. Mahomes is 19/27 for 260 yds. 3 passing TDs one running. I hope the 2nd half goes just as well.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 29, 2020 01:03 AM

Was that Darwin Thompson 34 that got beat on the Balt TD? I can't find another 34 on the roster.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 29, 2020 12:53 AM

Nice start for the Chiefs.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 29, 2020 12:15 AM

@Kcmatt7 You are right. No spy so far.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 29, 2020 12:04 AM

Doesn't the OU 55 seem way low? I would think 70 or more.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 28, 2020 03:45 PM

So, I assume Andy and Coach Spagnuolo will use a linebacker as a spy to defend Jackson exclusively. KC has to make Jackson throw the ball and not get easy first downs on open runs. Wow, this is going to be a challenge for the Chiefs.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 27, 2020 07:23 PM

I hate it, but I'm rooting for Scam Newton and the Pats. Any Raider loss is a good thing in my household.

18 Point Dogs to the Bears • Sep 27, 2020 05:36 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Somehow, I don't get to listen to the interviews after the game. I don't own a radio any more, except in the car. I wondered during the game if it would have helped Daniels to watch a couple of series on the sidelines. MacVittie being hurt makes sense.

18 Point Dogs to the Bears • Sep 27, 2020 05:20 PM

@jayhawks2010 I thought MacVittie did OK against CC. Sure the first INT was a little high, but not so bad he deserved to be benched. Then came the fumble on the cluster.... play that had our own players colliding. That wasn't MacVittie's fault. I thought Mac looked OK; he had a certain presence taking snaps, But, as a senior so what. OK he improves and maybe wins a game. Or, Daniels plays and gets better to the point we have a decent QB for three more years.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 27, 2020 04:55 PM

The Chiefs face Lamar Jackson, then next week Scam Newton. So our coaching staff and defense will have to prepare to stop the QB two weeks in a row. That's probably to the Chiefs' advantage to play back to back mobile QBs.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 27, 2020 03:44 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I always rely on folks like @Kcmatt7 and several others who know more about the individual players. It's one of the main reasons I like checking this board. How do you see tomorrow's game going? Jeez, Jackson leads the Ravens in rushing and is completing almost 80% of his passes so far. That's why I'll be curious if the Chief's defense comes loaded for bird tomorrow.

18 Point Dogs to the Bears • Sep 27, 2020 03:37 PM

jb, I always appreciate your input. You always research far and wide for information. Since sports are so unpredictable, anyone may use hindsight to point out someone else's incorrect opinion or statement. Oh well, I'm wrong most of the time; I thought (hoped) KU would make a much closer game of it with the Bears. Wrong, wrong, and really wrong.

Baltimore Beat Down • Sep 27, 2020 03:10 PM

Well, at least this is one heck of an early season game to watch in prime time. The Chiefs won last year 33-28, but it wasn't that close. Baltimore scored 15 4th Q points to make it look like a game. Lamar Jackson was off going 22/43 for 267 and 0 TDs. Mahomes was on like Donkey Kong: 27/37, 374 yds, 3TDs.

ESPN has the Ravens favored by 3.5, but I could see either team getting hot and winning by 3 TDs. Ergo, the ambiquous topic title. I'm just curious if the Chiefs defense will show up and find a way to slow down Jackson.

18 Point Dogs to the Bears • Sep 27, 2020 01:07 PM

Is there a single position group that's playing at a D-1 level? Where does a competent coaching staff start with this team? I saw some comments that we nearly won the total yds. category, which was KU 328 to BA 352. But its the scoreboard that matters. How in the hell does the defense give up 45 points (not counting the safety) on 352 yds. Did any of our coaches earn their paychecks since the loss to CC?

But, it's clear that Daniels is our QB. Finally, we have one QB. So, the plan for the rest of the year is just to show up, get our asses kicked and hope some year in the future we field a competitive team.

18 Point Dogs to the Bears • Sep 27, 2020 02:15 AM

67 yds rushing through 3 quarters is a real problem. I really thought our rushing game would come together this year.
