Bruth's Last Hurrah Game Thread • Feb 23, 2022 09:44 PM

@BeddieKU23 said in Bruth's Last Hurrah Game Thread:

Agree, I have similar concerns. We faced some differing styles in the non-con but for the most part the Big-12 has been the same night in and night out in style.

Hanging a hundred will pretty much beat any style.

Personally, I don't think Bill gave a whit about the Kentucky game in the bigger picture. He wants to win conference. That game was during a tough five game stretch, right after a difficult Tech win and right before Iowa St. and Baylor. Bill knew a non-con loss to a team like UK would not hurt us in the grand scheme. Considering we are currently projected as a #1 seed, it appears he was right. We went to ISU and won, then curb-stomped Baylor and almost (should have) stole one at Texas. Worked out pretty well, I think.

If we face UK in the tourney, I think the results would be much, much different.

Some metric tourney breakdown stuff in the video. Apparently we don’t have a shot at the title…

As long as we're in the tourney, we have a shot. That's good enough for me.

Ugh! Why must you do this?

This is very deserving of an emoji, but for the life of me I dunno which! A laughing emoji because it was funny. A crying emoji because it’s sad that others don’t believe Remy will be back.

I love Remy. I love his fiery attitude, the joy he derives from playing ball and even how he leads the cheers from the bench during his down time. I was really excited to have him on the team this year and I'm truly sad that we may not get to see what he could really do in a Jayhawk uniform.

I know he's had the knee issue and suspect there is some head-butting between him and Self regarding on-court expectations, but I certainly don't and can't know all the particulars. I really hope he does come back for the tourney as it's another thing for opposing teams to have to game plan for and he does provide positive energy when he's out there.

Unfortunately, I fear that years from now I will remember Remy's time here as another "what might have been" moment, alongside the cancelled Covid post-season, Embiid being injured for the tourney, 1997, etc, etc.

I’d wager Bill is challenging Harris’ manhood even now in regards to guarding Pack. He’ll be lucky to score half that tomorrow.

Trending decently in February so far. Only giving up 64 ppg this month with 2 more to go.

KSU won’t crack 60 tomorrow. Book it.

Clearly everyone is reading our knowledgeable posters here: KU now favored by 1 on Ceasar’s Sportsbook (ESPN).

We're going to have a lot of whistles in this one, I'm afraid. Probably not in our favor either with the wagering as skewed as it is. I hope I'm wrong.

When he dove for the ball that was already going out of bounds I bet Bill was loving it.

Rewatch the game at that point. The replay angle gives you a perfect view of Bill and his reaction, which was vigorous applause. He did indeed love that effort. So did I!

My understanding is they do not do that anymore. Someone with more intimate knowledge of KDHE please refute my statement if I'm incorrect.

Starting to look now at 2023 recruits. • Feb 01, 2022 10:53 PM

Agree 100%. Never thought I'd be happy to be in someone's final 7, but it's obvious things are changing and people are taking notice of what's going on at KU. That Texas game may turn out to be our "shot heard 'round the world".

You're a better person than I to subject yourself to that game a second time. Nicely done.

Talent Wins Games • Jan 30, 2022 02:20 PM

@Jethro said in Talent Wins Games:

My theory is he doesn’t care about the B12/SEC challenge. Last year, we lose at Tennessee 80-61. This year we lose 80-62. Jaybate used to say that Coach would amp up his teams in certain situations. He certainly didn’t have them amped yesterday. Our schedule is we play at Cloneland against a ranked Clone squad, followed up with a huge home game against the defending national champions, followed by a road tilt against a ranked UT team. The fact he gave the team two days off during the week leads me to believe he is trying to save his powder for the next 3. I think he knows how limited we really are, and knows we’re on real shaky ground. BSHARK is right- we’re not going to get better until we see some new faces next year.

I can sort of get behind this theory. But why then play the starters the whole game when you are getting blasted? If you’re trying to save some energy for conference, pull the starters and play the bench guys the last five minutes. That will also prevent possible injury in a lost cause of a game.

@tis4tim play KJ maybe in the first half…

As good a coach as Self is, his stubbornness never ceases to rile me up. We know how he does his rotations and he simply won’t change no matter if it is warranted or not.

Remy, Yes, and KJ are going to get limited run at best this season and if you think recruits don’t take note of how Self plays his cards then I’ve got a bridge I’d like to sell you.

I sometimes long for the days when Roy would throw his sport coat into the first few rows and yank all his starters to send a message.

Coming back from 16 against KSU is one thing but if we lose contact here it’s going to be tough against UK. Gotta start chipping away.
