@JayHawkFanToo You have a very short window to enter the NBA and when it's closed or shut, it's really hard to get it back open.

@Blown I think Brooks spikes the water.

@hawkmoon2020 I wonder if we were ever on his list. Now that's confusing. This is even more confusing. He said he wanted an adidas school. Well, Michigan is the only one on his "list." I'm not sure what pony and cart recruiting circus he's conducting, but he's doing it.

Naz long update • May 01, 2015 11:36 AM

@nuleafjhawk I doubt it, but we're KU and appreciate bball more than most. Also, KU isn't very well liked in the great city of Ames, and they have little to no love for our bball program.

Brown cuts Kansas from his list. :( • May 01, 2015 11:34 AM

@approxinfinity You might start exhaling. I'm afraid we're off his list. Unless he comes through shortly and denies the report.

Wiggins to be named Rookie of the Year!!! • May 01, 2015 11:16 AM

What's interesting is how these recruits will come to Lawrence for an OFFICIAL visit and take in the rich bball history. Then, they go to another program and decide the KU tradition isn't for them? Every player that chooses KU becomes apart of basketball history and KU's bball history. They follow great legends from Naismith to Mannning to Mario's miracle shot. I'm not saying, they don't have a choice and can't refuse, obviously they do, but they'll gush and express a great love and appreciation for the program. Then, they decide KU isn't for them. So barring 'fit,' I find it hard as to why players simply pass on KU? It has to be coaching, pt, or just selfishness. They don't want to work and continue a great tradition. Hell, I'd love to sit the bench and never play a game to experience that tunnel and to play in the house that Wilt built.

But I guess programs like Cal, Michigan, and UK are much more enticing...NOT

It does make me appreciate the players that do pick KU each year. So to all our KU recruits passed, present and future...thank you and RCJHGOKU.

Wiggins to be named Rookie of the Year!!! • May 01, 2015 11:09 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 The house that Wilt built? Aka Phog Allen.

Wiggins to be named Rookie of the Year!!! • May 01, 2015 11:07 AM

Sad...oh what could've been in Brown's future. He'll do nothing with Cal, Michigan or UK. What a waste. But these choices are the paths of least resistance and team competition. KU's roster is tough and hard to crack.

Brown cuts Kansas from his list. :( • May 01, 2015 11:03 AM

Well...as of this morning the KC Star is reporting Brown's cutting KU from his list, so I'd say it's fairly safe to say that we are likely not on his list. So...moving along...thanks for nothing Jaylen and good luck with any team you choose because they will be by far mediocre. But, if you don't want to work, compete, and be part of a team to win, then go where you can be 'the man' from day one. KU only recruits solid team wing players that go on to become NBA ROY. Also, it doesn't bode too well that you can't come into a program with the likes of a Svi or Greene and carve out some significant minutes.

Obviously if this were not true, there would be a correction by him, so apparently he either doesn't know or he's just not saying anything. He doesn't owe anyone anything at this point. I'd say he fits in at Michigan or definitely UK. Look out Poythress, you're sitting the bench again. It doesn't appear your time will ever come, ask Lee and Willis.

This is on his twitter page...

@FCHWPO

Humble & Hungry

What do the last to words mean? Do kids understand or just like the sound? Those are pretty big words to put on a twitter page, but then your recruiting doesn't seem to be too consistent. Maybe he'll learn what they mean at Michigan, Cal, and UK. I know UK teaches humility. I understand it's a required player quality and must be practiced on and off the court.

Jim Beilein is a walking example of hungry and humble. He exudes these two words about once every 4-5 years maybe. I know one thing, to have such a short name, it's the hardest little last name to remember how to spell, and that's a fact. If I were a recruit and couldn't remember how to spell my coach's name on a consistent basis, I wouldn't commit...LOL Now Self, that's easy. It's dummy proof. S-e-l-f...It almost spells itself.

I'm not sure if Cal even has a reason to be humble and hungry. Hungry for what or humble about what, I have no idea.

@JayHawkFanToo Traylor has some 'guns, guns, guns.' Can you imagine if he opened a 'can of whoop a$$' on that purple kitty retard fan? But again, a great example of Traylor's experience and maturity that you want in difficult situations. If that was say Alex...what would he have done? Yikes.

I'll be honest, I trust Traylor's experience in most situations and he knows Self's system. He will play over Diallo more than you think. Diallo is respecting Self and there will be a curve. Diallo will have to learn fast if he expects to play, and as most have said, by mid season, he should be primed.

I think Lucas and even Mick will play over Diallo at times too. Again, they know the system and how to execute Self's plays. Self's system is not some 'fly by night' system that you come in and play. Diallo will have to learn SO much and understand the details behind Self's system for Bigs. We all know Embiid got it really fast.

I love what Self tells these recruits. They know exactly what to expect when they sign. Diallo said, he was going to KU and will 'earn' playing time. Hey...there's a word you don't hear from coaches anymore, go figure. He tells Brown, he'll have to work hard and if you don't like hard work, don't come to KU? Self is a little too honest with recruits, but there's no misunderstanding and they can't say anything about Self's recruiting style.

Also, Self ALWAYS rewards those players that stay with him and give him four years. Unlike Calipari, who would bench any player to play his next OAD. Someone challenged my comments about Poythress. He was hurt very early and never got a chance to play. So, to say that he's no good, is not too fair just because he sat due to his injury. The poster also said that Poythress would be in the NBA if he's any good. His injury was pretty threatening and if he wasn't any good, Calipari wouldn't have recruited him in the first place. But, I guarantee you if Calipari lands Brown by some miracle, Brown would play over Poythress. Forget his talent and huge experience, Calipari has to play his featured OAD at all costs. Again, I hope players and their parents are seeing this stupid recruiting by Calipari.

Andrew Wiggins New ROY Adidas shoes... • May 01, 2015 04:23 AM

Whatever, it's still cool. Also, this has got to catch Brown's eye. He and Wiggins are fairly close in talent. Wiggins came in as a purely offensive player and left KU one of the best defensive players in the country.

I did read that Brown has a decision: Does he go where he's one of many star players? OR does he go where he can be "The One." Well, we may get an answer to these questions shortly, if we haven't already done so.

BTW Jaylen, Wigs is the NBA ROY...He also went to KU and played under Bill Self. If you talk to Wiggins, Jaylen, he'll tell you, Bill Self prepared him for this moment. But, if Beiline is your kind of coach, I believe you referred to him as a "offensive genius"? He'll never teach you anything and prepare you for the NBA. They are mediocre at best Jaylen. But, you go where it's best for you. Family is great to have around you, but at KU your development seems a bit more important, and you have a great chance of adding a conference championship to your resume, AND you will be on a team that will be in contention for a NC. If you go to Michigan, enjoy mediocrity.

Lets don't forget, as I hate to Bragg. • May 01, 2015 04:06 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Haha...Ranger Bragg

Brown cuts Kansas from his list. :( • May 01, 2015 03:53 AM

Come on Jayhawk Nation they tried this a while back. Someone claimed he cut his list, and he had to refute it. He may be tired of defending foolish comments. Interestingly, they always come from the team these recruits tend to commit.

We may not get him, but until he himself says so on his twitter page or an interview and provides an explanation, he's still open to KU. BTW, there is nothing on his twitter page that even hints at dropping KU. Usually, they'll list their teams. They won't report "cuts." He'll simply create a new list and if this is true, KU won't be on it.

Jaylen Brown refutes report that he's trimmed list to Michigan, California

Sound familiar? It appears Michigan has some hell bent obsession to get Jaylen.

Brown cuts Kansas from his list. :( • May 01, 2015 03:31 AM

LOL...I don't think so. It's not over till it's over. I'll wait to hear from Brown himself. The media and haters are going to say anything to grab attention. This could mean he's leaning KU.

This recruiting thing is getting really absurd. YES, we'll still take him if he's available. We would be stupid not to stay on him.

Of course...a Michigan reporter would report something like this...

It makes no sense for him to say positive things and keep them this long and then allegedly cut them according to a Michigan sportswriter. I want something more credible or believable. They'll say anything.

I expect Brown himself to make an announcement or refute this at some point soon.

I don't think our little Michigan report is too credible...This was on his twitter page...

Watch Cheick school his teammate for not making a defensive stop. He's super competitive. I like his fire and verbalization.

Who is that that let Brown go to the rim uncontested? Where did he go? Defensive liability.

Dumpster Divers Of The Midwest • Apr 30, 2015 02:11 AM

Oh how sweet it would be to add Brown, and take our squad against the Dookies, only to beat them. The proverbial cherry on top.

GET SOME

Diallo a Jayhawk • Apr 30, 2015 02:08 AM

I just realized after relishing in the fact that we swiped two top recruits from UK, but Self also beat out a former NBA player, coach, and two key assistants coaches that were recruiting Diallo. I think this is extraordinary that he pulled Diallo from Mullin, Abdelmasi (sp), and Slice. Their plan backfired.

Naz long update • Apr 30, 2015 02:03 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I don't know, but I really wish we could follow Svi's progress. I just wonder if we needed him, if he would be ready to step up for BG?

Otherwise, let's bring in Brown.

All in on Brown • Apr 30, 2015 01:52 AM

I think the stables are on fire in Lexington. I found it interesting that Rhorrsen (sp) left...just up and left with little to no comment. He may know something. It's almost like a ship sinking and he was the first to jump.

All in on Brown • Apr 30, 2015 01:48 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Thorne was, is, and has been signed with IU for over a month now.

All in on Brown • Apr 30, 2015 01:40 AM

@JayHawkFanToo

Pretty talented lineup and they have a good bench too. It's not a platoon. UK is spoiled rotten. They may not clear Skal.

Tyler Ulis- Point Guard

Isaiah Briscoe- Shooting Guard/Point Guard

Alex Poythress- Small Forward

Marcus Lee- Power Forward

Skal Labissiere- Center

Oh how the chickens have come home to roost in Lexington. The stables are bare and Calipari is leftover with the horse sh*t in the stables.

All in on Brown • Apr 30, 2015 01:37 AM

@brooksmd Bill Self has taken as many if not more than Behline and developed them to the NBA. Self is the master. I don't think there's a better coach. The twins, TRob, and Embiid to name a few. TRob wasn't invited to the McDs AA game. Embiid wasn't even ranked in the top 100 until he committed to KU. Then he went all the way to a top pick by draft time.

Self has a proven track record of developing under developed players or unranked players to the NBA.

All in on Brown • Apr 30, 2015 01:34 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I hope so.

All in on Brown • Apr 30, 2015 01:29 AM

@JayHawkFanToo But to say you don't have a 3 is an insult to who you already have. This is Calipari recruiting at it's finest. He doesn't recruit based on need. He brings in whoever he can get, but if he can get the better of the players, he'll get them and bench his faithful.

I think Lee and Willis are getting screwed by Calipari, twice now. He went on national television and sang their praises for waiting their time. Then his platoon system went into effect. He started winning and screwed Lee and Willis yet again. The dumb and dumber thing is, they're still with him. So, if they are dumb enough to stay with him after he lied, they deserve what they don't get at uk. If I were Lee and Willis, I'd transfer asap.

All in on Brown • Apr 30, 2015 12:25 AM

@Statmachine ALL IN ... LOCK STOCK AND BARREL.

Why not get Brown if we have a chance? Some other team will take him. Also, did you hear what the squid and little blue nation said of Brown? They need him because they have no 3 or shooting forward. WOW...if I were Poythress or Matthews, I'd be pretty offended.

Wiggins to be named Rookie of the Year!!! • Apr 30, 2015 12:16 AM

Jaylen Brown meet Andrew Wiggins...your future at KU.

Do you remember Christmas? • Apr 29, 2015 09:55 PM

I feel that way right now with Jaylen Brown. I feel like I've gotten almost everything for Christmas, with the exception of one, but hey I know the next gift just might be a Jaylen Brown. I love Christmas and I love recruiting.

We got a Carlton Bragg, Cheick Diallo, missed on a Brandon Ingram (whatever), and now the next package has got to be a Jaylen Brown. All I want for Christmas is a Jaylen Brown.

I like this article. Finally, something realistic.

Come on Jaylen....help us win #12 and another NC.

As a bonus, scroll down and you have "Paul Pierce, a hockey fan"?

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 03:23 AM

@Statmachine Once again, the "experts" are already steering Brown to Michigan. I can't believe the bias. I guess KU is incapable of landing 3 top McDs AA at this point. It's almost as if we have our limit and exceeded what people think is possible for KU.

Yet, if this were any other program...Puke, UNC, UK, Zona, or any other top program, it would be broadcasted all over the sports media. You don't see much about Diallo to KU like Ingram to Puke. Hell, even on KU sports page, they had Ingram to Puke as the first headline and Diallo was the second.

Now I want Brown to spite the media. I want them to scratch their heads and ask how in the world Bill Self got the best of the recruiting world.

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 03:07 AM

I like the lineup with ...

Mason, Graham and Selden at the two most critical spots 1 and 2.

They can support and give Brown some great experience. I'm sure Greene and Svi will do their part to teach him.

Ellis and Traylor can school Bragg at the 4.

Lucas and Mick can school Diallo at the 5.

I like our mix of experience and classmen. It's a great fit.

Of course, it only works if we land Brown. If not, Svi is working hard.

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 02:55 AM

@dylans I think you got it. Let's give one to Brown, and keep that extra for something special or just take it into next season.

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 02:52 AM

@Statmachine This is a good problem. I see Greene taking a med redshirt, Svi getting some good pt, and Brown will likely jump. It's a win win win. Svi and Greene had their chance to leave. They stayed. They bought into Self's system. If you want a NC, you do what the coach says, especially if he already has a NC and 11 rings. If either Greene or Svi leave, this will tell us quite a bit about them. I don't see them leaving. This team has grown together and are sacrificing for the team.

All in on Brown • Apr 29, 2015 02:49 AM

I'm loving this get on a few levels. KU gets back into the face of the neg nancy media analysts, and we just stole two highly coveted UK recruits...If that doesn't make you celebrate, you're dead.

Diallo a Jayhawk • Apr 29, 2015 02:44 AM

If all reports are true of Brown wanting adidas, then Michigan and KU are his options. Keep in mind that Bragg is still recruiting Brown to KU. He's our ace in the hole. Greene rehabbing and Svi waiting in the wings, is a perfect opportunity for Brown to step in and give us some aggressive play.

I don't know much about Michigan, but they already have a wing. I'm sure Behline will make accommodations for Brown if necessary. This is why you never turn down an OAD. You never know what will happen. I would rather error in having an OAD than not. They can always explode and have a spectacular year. Here's to landing Brown, why not?

Diallo a Jayhawk • Apr 29, 2015 01:51 AM

Hows this for a line-up:

Mason

Selden

Brown

Ellis

Diallo

Daaaang...4 McD AAs? I'm lovin it. And not all OAD. This should satisfy you OAD skeptics.

Diallo a Jayhawk • Apr 29, 2015 01:46 AM

I'd really like to know more about Jaylen Brown. He's unlike Ingram or Diallo. We could really use a phenom at the 3 and let Svi back him. This way, Greene won't be rushed back too early. He can heal 100%. Also, it will give Svi some much needed pt. In fact, it may not hurt for Greene to take a medical redshirt.

Diallo a Jayhawk • Apr 29, 2015 01:43 AM

@BeddieKU23 Yeah, they are notorious for doing that to KU commits. They hype them during their whole recruiting process. Then, they write they will go Puke, UK, or St John and then down play them like a bad habit. It's the bball media machine.

Biancardi and the whole group had him all but committed to St John and others had him committed to UK.

Yes...take that haters.

Diallo is down to St. John's, Kentucky, Kansas, Iowa State and Pittsburgh but it looks like the Johnnies, Wildcats and Jayhawks are the front runners at this point in time (according to Evan Daniels).

Diallo would be a monster addition for the Red Storm as he has a high motor, knack for finding the basketball and can develop more efficient post moves under Chris Mullin.

This is freakin' hilarious. The media is steering Diallo to St Johns. I am afraid because if you remember, he was going to commit during the Nike Summit game or right after....Here we are days later. It doesn't look good folks.

I'm totally convinced these programs are using something against KU and Bill Self. OH...I know now, KU is not an East coast program.

Did you hear that "boink?" • Apr 28, 2015 12:33 AM

KC to the WS again? I hope so and WS championship to KC....sounds good.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 11:19 PM

@JayHawkFanToo LOL...the point of my post is, I don't care about Capel or Puke. It makes me no difference. I'm using some sarcasm to make a point. I doubt he gets a sniff of the job when K leaves.

I'm respecting the kid's decision and moving on to the next recruit.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 11:06 PM

@RockkChalkk Yet he said if it were not for the UNC sanctions, he would've committed to them last Fall?

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 10:55 PM

@RockkChalkk I know of a few recruits we've had that were KU fans too that slipped through the cracks. I'd like to think we were his second choice. I don't know, right now that seems like a bone. I guess second to Puke is better than second to none.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 10:53 PM

@brooksmd Easy does it my good drinking buddy. Have a quick swig and relax. No body is blaming Self. I'm making the mere observation that his recruiting skills are slipping. You're right, there are many factors involved. We'll be fine and Self recruits based on need, not pure talent and numbers.

But, you have to admit it would be nice to have some OADs and win a NC. If you look at my last post and the match-ups, we look weak again at the 5. Let's hope we land Diallo to maintain a highly competitive edge.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 10:47 PM

I so want to play them this year. I think our guys can take Puke with their recruits.

Mason/Thornton

Selden/Allen

Svi/Ingram

Ellis/Bragg/Traylor/Jefferson/Obi

Bragg/Lucas (Diallo)/Mick/Jeter/Plumblee?

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 10:31 PM

If we miss on both Diallo and Brown? I'll be absolutely pissed. It just seems like Bill Self is getting later and later to the prom.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 10:27 PM

@BeddieKU23 I have to agree. I'll take anything at this point. Maybe the Wiggins and Bragg affect will win another recruit afterall.

Carlton, your recruiting skills are failing KU. I hope your play is better than your recruiting skills. Remember the package deal hype with Bragg, Brown, and Ingram. Well, we know part of the package is gone. The only piece left is Brown. So, here's to landing Diallo and Brown.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 10:26 PM

Coach K gets whatever he wants, and whomever he wants. Give the Rat his due. Oh and let's give Capel some props for out recruiting HCBS too. If we lose Diallo, I won't be a happy Jayhawk. I can accept Ingram, but if we lose Diallo, I want to know what's happening to Bill Self on the recruiting trail.

Jeff Capel can beat Self at something...haha When he has the Puke label and the the Rat's coaching reputation. He won't leave the Rat's tit either. He'll suck till he can't suck anymore. I hope he's Puke's successor when K leaves.

Ingram Token Sign or The Real Deal • Apr 27, 2015 10:19 PM

@drgnslayr Well, the "experts" pretty much steered Ingram to Puke. They have reluctantly conceded Diallo to KU, reluctantly...LOL
