Why are the booing CB? Did he do something?

@approxinfinity Book 2 of the series was excellent too. Awaiting the planned book 3 to be released.

When Remy makes it back... • Feb 16, 2022 02:08 AM

@rockchalkjayhawk said in When Remy makes it back...:

Remy can be a much needed weapon when our offense is struggling.
He can create for himself and get to the bucket.
The weird part is that we rarely have seen it.
Is it Remy trying to fit in or Self holding him back?
I think he’ll be back. Just like most of us didn’t know Bobby or Zach would sneak into a game, Remy will too.

I don't think Self has been holding him back. Self has said publicly he would like Remy to be more aggressive on offense. Feedback from the NBA was he needs to show them he can defend and run a team (distribute), not just score based on volume. So that's what he's been trying to do.

I don't think he will start again if our current starting 5 remain healthy, but he certainly could be a boost off the bench. Our team will be better when he is available.

Also interesting that our worst defensive team by far (2017-2018) made it to the Final Four. Not the conventional wisdom.

This game was not as close as the final score by any means. - the reserves gives up like 10 for the short amount of time - - -oh ya

We didn't score in the last 5:15. That wasn't just the scrubs. Guess we didn't need it, but those flat lines on the game flow summary are a bit odd.

Oklahoma State Game Thread • Feb 15, 2022 03:45 AM

Zach, Mitch & KJ don't get on the floor together much

Oklahoma State Game Thread • Feb 15, 2022 03:18 AM

30 points in 10 minutes this half, pretty good rate.

Throwbacks • Feb 15, 2022 01:02 AM

Good to remind people that national championships before the NCAA count. History matters.

Superbowl Half time entertainment • Feb 14, 2022 12:36 AM

I want the team that beat the Chiefs to win. I'd prefer to have lost to a champion.

Self provides injury updates • Feb 13, 2022 07:43 PM

@Kubie I saw that too. Mitch took several hard shots to the torso on that same play, and indeed was grabbing his chest on the way back to the bench, but I didn't hear anything about it afterwards.

3 THINGS • Feb 13, 2022 07:39 PM

@benshawks08 It was nice to see Zach get fired up yesterday too, like on that one-handed rebound he tried to rip away. Passion and energy help a ton.

Self provides injury updates • Feb 13, 2022 06:32 PM

@AsadZ In the postgame, Self said Dave was fine at the beginning of the game, but not great. He was certainly not impressed with Dave's defense on Groves, and said Zach was the only big that could defend (hedge screen then get back). I got the idea Dave's defense was why he sat so much, not an aggravated injury (my hypothesis too, before hearing coach answer the press).

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:44 PM

Too close.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 07:27 PM

Braun needs to do that more often, not just when the shot clock is running down.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 06:53 PM

Dave can't handle Groves outside, nobody else can handle him inside.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 06:33 PM

@benshawks08 I don't trust his feet either ! But I'd expect our best players to be playing at the end of the half, if no foul trouble. KJ and Mitch are not it today.

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 06:29 PM

@benshawks08 He started off strong this game, did he re-injure something?

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 06:28 PM

Why is Dave sitting?

Boomer 2 Game Thread • Feb 12, 2022 05:44 PM

That beard has grown since last game

@jessejayhawk Hey, it's 5pm somewhere...

Chris Teahan • Feb 09, 2022 09:36 PM

Takes a certain amount of courage to sport that mullet and 'stache for sure.

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 04:20 AM

Texas plays tough D. Much tougher under this coach than their last couple. With this coach and this school's resources, they are going to be tough for years to come.

13 ORB given up. The only reason this game is close rn

And Texas is 2-19 from 3, 11%

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 03:14 AM

Good pass

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 03:02 AM

I looked up the flop rule. A player who fakes being fouled is assessed a Class B technical foul, so the opposing team would get one free throw attempt and the player would not be assessed a personal foul.

Pretty reasonable, if they'd actually call it.

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 02:59 AM

@FarmerJayhawk Thank you, I was really trying to figure out that lineup at the end of the half: Harris, Pettiford, JCL, Ochai & KJ? But everybody else had 2 fouls, so that's what we ended up with.

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 02:54 AM

That 6-pack is a keg.

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 02:42 AM

Oops

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 02:14 AM

Maybe I should go back out into the snow. Bad karma.

Tejas Game Thread • Feb 08, 2022 02:08 AM

I'm an idiot, went out to shovel snow then started working. Finally clued in I was missing something more important. Sounds like we're doing ok?

Dave's face is having a tough game.

Baylor Game Thread • Feb 05, 2022 09:27 PM

Dave's face hurts.

Baylor Game Thread • Feb 05, 2022 09:02 PM

We're outrebounding them 13-5. Nice.

Baylor Game Thread • Feb 05, 2022 08:59 PM

Nice pass!

Baylor Game Thread • Feb 05, 2022 08:55 PM

Finally, I've been watching the game in Spanish. I don't speak Spanish!

Baylor Game Thread • Feb 05, 2022 08:53 PM

Remember when we got off to fast starts so much early this year? Nice to get back to that.

Yesufu and Remy • Feb 03, 2022 12:02 AM

Gotta say, I'm pretty fond of rebounds. If Wilson's back to his old form, from late last year, it's hard to give those up.

Yesufu and Remy • Feb 02, 2022 10:16 PM

@FarmerJayhawk Who would you sit out of the current starters? Which 2?

Yesufu and Remy • Feb 02, 2022 10:15 PM

@Jhawk69 Not crazy at all. Sounds like it will be a while before Remy is back, and Yesufu is ready to shoulder more load now. So those minutes should go to him now. And then we have time to see how that goes while Remy recovers.

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 02:16 AM

Enanura started, but only played 8 minutes and scored 2 pts, with 0 rebounds and 1 turnover. I always liked him and wanted him to do well. Seemed like he had great potential. But maybe his transfer wasn't such a loss for us. Like others, I thought he might blossom elsewhere, but maybe it wasn't all Self's fault for not giving him a longer leash.

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 01:49 AM

@Kcmatt7 And then Bill's snarky remark about how you'd think he could get some more boards really woke him up. He was a rebounding monster after that, for a guard.

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 01:41 AM

@BeddieKU23 I don't remember Dok dribbling off his own foot, but yes, great game overall by those 2.

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 01:11 AM

@RockChalkinTexas CB only 2 fouls.

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 01:10 AM

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:51 AM

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:47 AM

@approxinfinity We're a turnover machine, yet still ahead.

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:45 AM

@jayballer67 It's been up here for a while. We have about 2 feet of snow on the ground.
