@stoptheflop I enjoy good announcers! Fran isn't one of them and I tune him out a lot. I must say I'm guilty of plenty of stupid comments on these pages too, probably above average if my Ken Pom commenting stats are to be believed.
Pertaining to ISU, a cyclone is a tropical storm, not a tornado, so they can't even get their mascot correct, although I must admit, the Kansas based classic Wizard of Oz probably is responsible for this misnamed storm so we (notice pronoun use @mayjay) Kansans bear some unfortunate culpability in this scientific error.

This is the story that caused me to finally subscribe. Looks like a good website.
I met Donny Boyce tonight. I was at a game in Hammond, IN and he was coaching Proviso East at Hammond Central which has a very good team. I was wearing my KU gear and my friend and KU roommate had met him a few weeks ago and Donny was so nice and gushed about playing at Allen Field House. For those not remembering he played at Colorado in the mid '90s and went onto the NBA for a while. He told me AFH was his favorite place to play but he also never won there, the only gym in the league he didn't win at if I understood him correctly. 2 of his Proviso East teammates from when he played there went to the NBA also, one you've heard of Michael Finley. The 3 amigos as they were called won 3 straight state titles and had a state record win streak.
@DanR When I lived in Baton Rouge the fans were always SEC this and that. I would ask them how is the SEC doing in wrestling this year? Soccer? Lacrosse? Hockey? Crickets!
@Jethro SEC fans are whack. In Baton Rouge LSU was playing Bama in football and Bama was quite a bit better that season. Local sportswriter actually wrote a column hoping for a Bama win because then the SEC would have a better chance of winning another national championship. In other words cheering for your archrival because it might hurt the conference.

Saw some twitter talk about Higgins the other day. He worked a west coast game Sat night and then did a big ten game early Sunday afternoon. Maybe he’s not a bad ref but just tired.
@mayjay I like trips down memory lane like that. I've been in so many places and my allegiances have thankfully not followed me. As a boy "we" meant NY Mets and Yankees and Rutgers since I was a jersey kid. But 7th grade move to chicago changed it to local teams and then KU and eventually Wisconsin and then Louisiana and back to Chi where we are now. No Louisiana fandom thankfully, although I was very proud to cheer my students on while playing at LSU and in the National Championship against Bama. Daughters HS friend Boston Scott from Zachary, LA playing in the Super Bowl!

@mayjay Another round of the pronoun wars! Spent 3 years in Lawrence and obviously became a huge proud fan. But living in Wisconsin for as long as I did, being able to watch almost all games on TV because of big 10 network and attend games occasionally, not to mention growing up in BIG country, I do have a dual loyalty and have no problem saying we for the Badgers. But I don't always say we, let the record show, and in fact, rarely use we when referring to them here. Maybe some tech geek can figure out how many times I've said we and Badgers together!
