@approxinfinity Suburbs do more. My son is pretty progressive and he knew there was that culture there which attracted him. We walked around the whole Mormon area, the temple/tabernacle and it was very strange. One young woman smiled at me like, hey, we believe in polygamy here you want another wife? LOL
@approxinfinity Yes 96 olympics there and another coming up in the next decade or so. We stayed up in Park City last year. Pretty cool place. My son goes skiing a lot up there.
Been there a few times, it's built on the side of a plane moving up to the Wasatch range. So the plane is flat but tilted. Beautiful location. Capitol building is spectacular.

Discussion somewhere on these pages of thinking of names to replace Self (which I'm not advocating for). I've always like Fred Hoiberg. I'm sure someone tells me what's wrong with that but he was good at ISU, been decent at a place which has never had winning basketball in Nebraska and I think is still young enough, 52 to get some good years out of. Given the recruiting advantages of KU he might do well. I don't know the assistant coach ranks well enough to even mention anyone. Mid major coaches like Self was of course grow up into superstars too. But we can't make the mistake of hiring someone who raced to the Elite 8/FF surprising everyone along the way thinking he'll be the next great thing. The guy at Seton Hall who stayed local after St. Peters beat highly seeded Kentucky a few years back. SHall isn't all that great. Frankly I'm not looking forward to it happening but it will.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see Bill step away after one of the next few seasons including this one.
I'm glad he's coming back although I hope the youngster waiting gets some good opportunities to play as well. New OC will be the wildcard although the word on the street is Lance hired a very good one.

Telling @approxinfinity he's "really f....ing stupid" is without a doubt the worst thing I've seen written by a bucketeer ever. Approx saved us from being lost in cyber space when we left the LJW chat site. He found us and we came and barely skipped a beat. I don't know any clue how he sets this up, maintains it, pays for it, and/or tolerates the inane comments from so many of us and keeps it going. I didn't find his position on Self to come anywhere near to intolerably disagreeable, just an opinion that some agree with, others might not.

2000 was the last time we were an 8 seed. Beat Depaul, played Duke tough. Roy had gone the 3 years (gasp) between the 1997 upset and 2000 without making it to the 2nd week of the tourney and were really pretty low years for this program. But Roy hit some recruiting home runs and the next year we made it to the sweet 16 with the young trio of Nick, Kirk and Drew, 3 first name guys that most of us know well. Bill is recruiting at a high level and makes me think this is going to turn around soon.
Of course this year ain't over. We don't have a Danny Manning on this team but I'd say we have guys that are better than anyone else that played on that 88 team. That team lost 5 in a row right at this time of year and of course got hot and made history. We have talent to win a lot of games. Hoping it gels here.
