I'm not there yet, well never were where you were at either! Having never lived in the state other than my student years. Winning championships has always helped me stomach the difficult stretches. This and last year has been a lot of thinking 2022 wasn't that long ago!
@Crimsonorblue22 OK, sorry. Enjoy all of your super bowl wins, must be nice!
@Crimsonorblue22 It was a joke because that's the narrative out there
Boy imagine how bad this would be if the refs weren't trying to help ya'll win!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Wow thanks, do you just have all this in your mind? I didn't ask my question that long ago and you produced an article!
@Texas-Hawk-10 I've seen you write that before about the effects of the investigation, but I'm wondering. Basically the guys who won a championship were recruited after we started to feel the heat from the NCAA. So in the midst of an investigation Self constructed a championship team. Or am I wrong?
@nuleafjhawk Oh thanks for ignoring my brilliant opening to the game thread. I think you might be part of the reason that you enjoyed your day today!
Storr got hacked
ESPN misses the alley oop lob on the inbound because we have to look at a kstate guy.
We've made 52% of shots, 40% of our 3's (low volume), fouled less, outrebounded them, but 5 more TO's and 4 more blocks leads to the deficit despite the statistical similarity.
@benshawks08 Just like in 1988!
Nightmare start to the half. Understatement of the year.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Can both be true? :)
3o feet behind the play and he calls that. He's the new ref that hates us.
Sermons hates us.
Hmph, down 5, whadya know about that?
Maybe we'll make more FTs. 1-6 can't be repeated and win. Getting DaJuan back will help quite a bit but I'm sure they'll be keying on him.
No laughs Slim, you battle kuball10 all year every day and then you go and write so much stupid crap. Not much different really when you think this team is incapable of coming back.
I don't know why anyone is still here. I should just shut this thread down because some people think that it's insurmountable. Oh I should show them the tape of that game against UNC in 2022. Or how about the WVU game a few years back. Or just to be that obvious, what Baylor did last week or Houston two weeks ago.
@SlimShaddy54 Because no team in the history of basketball has ever come back from 10 points down in a game.
Radio said that shot that Flory blocked was called by the ref standing at halfcourt.
@SlimShaddy54 OK, bye bye
Push in the back
I've seen this game before
Well that was dumb
Multi tasking with Badgers in the 2nd half against Iowa. I've got lots of hatred in my heart today.
We might be able to score inside today.
7 minutes left in a blowout in Norman, we might get a chance to watch our game from the start without finding it on some random channel.
Gonna hijack the Michigan fan hate chant today for our own rivalry. It's not as well known a rivalry as OSU-Michigan, but it's still a good one.
The rivalry could use a bit more spice in my opinion. This is our fault in football as we've been bad and it's been one sided, and while in basketball it's more even, we definitely dominate in national prominence. The fact that our dominance is backed up by actual trophies makes it kind of funny that their dominance is not even backed up by playoff appearances or ancient national championships.
Their fan interactions on social media are kind of hilarious. While we share our insults too, seeing KSU fans make fun of KU hoops just seems like a strange thing to do because we have multiple chances to rebut theirs with compelling barbs.
Snob Hill vs. Silo Tech I used to hear back when i was hanging around Lawrence. Wondering if the younger generations know those terms? Todays fans have the memory of the brawl with DeSouza and whoever else was involved. It was a black eye on our program, theirs too. I know some here defended our guys which is fine, but I'm not enough of a homer to call it like it is. Mid 80's football had their own brawls. Not sure if there's been others, but two years in a row in Manhattan featured after game brawls in Aggieville (?) between overserved fans of both teams. Those years saw KU and KState football finish at the bottom of not just the Big 8 but at the bottom of national rankings. Dreadful years for the states teams.
Today, recent history has me at least a little on edge. We should beat this team, yet they've won two games we couldn't, at home vs WVU and AT ISU. That's impressive but they've also lost some ridiculous games to teams like Liberty, OSU, Wichita by a bunch, Drake.
I still believe our team can pull this together and make some noise. I don't think we're good enough to make it to the FF, but good enough to threaten that. I'm still hanging on our Duke win as evidence. So I'll go out on a limb and give us a 3 point win 74-71.
@FarmerJayhawk Oh man, late to the game on this particular thread. Devastating news on your friend. Sorry for your loss. Must be horrible with the unprecedented reaction from the White House.
Not a game per se, but Mike Woodson is out at Indy. Every fan on twitter is yelling for Chris Beard. IDK, heck of a coach but goodness character issues abound. I wouldn't want him for my team. I know the Texas thing was dropped, but still showed some lapses of judgment I think. Set me straight on him if I'm wrong.
@approxinfinity @kjayhawks 3 times in KU's glory years of later 80's and early 90s we played Duke in the FF. My go to back then, especially when not living at KU was USA Today. Same thing. In 91 we beat UNC in the semifinals and the focus was Dean and Duke.
Looking at the rankings and I see Duke 2nd in KenPom and of course you can't avoid Duke because they seem to be permanently enshrined on the main page of ESPN.com. But KenPom also shows the schedule strength and Dukes #'s are kind of weak for a top team. It's not a big news item to report that the ACC is horrible. Louisville is the 2nd team in Ken Pom in the league, 28th, barely ranked in the polls, but if you look at Louisville's schedule they have really zero quality wins. No ranked team wins except Indiana which is fraudulently ranked at the beginning of every season and Louisville beat them. By KenPom standards, Clemson is the 3rd team in the league and they have zero quality wins.
So at the end of the season when Duke finishes the league undefeated, which they probably will, Duke will be anointed as the big favorite, etc. etc. I'm not blind, I think they are a really decent team but hard to tell objectively because of that league they're in. I don't think they'd be undefeated in our league or the SEC. They did hand Auburn their only loss in Cameron.
The talk should be focused on Auburn because if the name on the shirt read read Duke, the media would be going nuts for what they've accomplished. I'm impressed by Auburn. To be unbeaten in that league is incredible. I know there's still some time to stumble, but they'll enter the dance as the prohibitive favorite.
@approxinfinity LOL, I just did a quick glance and thought you'd posted a pic of Hitler. I'm like why? But now I understand. I liked Higgins better than Wiggins TBH.
@Crimsonorblue22 Higgins, Wiggins, whatever, when guys stay for 1 year I really don't get to know them.
Higgins traded to the Heat. Rare long run with same team.
@kjayhawks Not sure how much you pay attention but Indiana is overhyped every year much the same way Nebraska is in football or even ND. Strangely UNC is starting to fall into that same category.
@StLJhawk Mine too. Every once in a while I wonder what dour take he had, but I just keep enjoying all the other commenters.
Wisconsin led 24-4 against Indiana and coasted to their 21st in a row at home over Indiana. If you're young maybe that isn't too remarkable but if you remember IU basketball from way back it's startling. Sports illustrated is still a thing and picked UW 17th in the league and IU 2nd.
38-0 at home on Big Monday!
Oh this guy shooting is from my brothers town.
At least we aint getting swept by the freaking clones
I wonder when the last time Self didn't use a TO except a use it to lose it in the 1st half?
Fantastzeke
@MoonwalkMafia Well the good news is they were both early enough in the season to regroup and get this thing rolling again.
My hope for saving NCAA sports is some sort of sanity on NIL and the Portal. I'm guessing Bill Self isn't going to take too much more of this just like Bennett and Wright, and K and Williams, and as of today, the FSU guy and of course Saban.
Need to take good shots.
Biblocka
TJ Pugh in the house. He's a cancer doctor out in Denver. Pretty cool to hear.
@nuleafjhawk Welcome to my winning game thread! Only positive comments allowed to counter all my negative ones about the refs.
Man they gonna foul out hunter here.
