Maybe its good eyeballs aren't on our team but you can bet no one in eastern time is watching even a minute of it.
SEC conference is the only one that doesn't have this concern and in basketball the Big East doesn't either. Lesser conferences remain sensible.
Our next game is tomorrow night at 10 PM CENTRAL TIME, you know when many of us are heading to bed. Screw the Big 12 and their careless about the fans. Screw our AD who let this happen. I'm beyond pissed asking us to sacrifice sleep if we want to watch a game. They voted to allow this. I assume our AD permitted this. ZERO consideration for the fans, for the students, professors, the community in Lawrence and across the nation. We're not the only ones dealing with this of course, but it doesn't make me feel any better. If they did it to us on the weekend that might be semi acceptable, they did actually when we played BYU with a 9PM start time but that was a Saturday night.
Aj doesn't miss that layup last year.
OSU sucks. Nothing to get excited about here methinks.
Huh, thought we played tonight. Glad I checked here!
Comparing recruiting to teaching is interesting. I've had similar experiences as a secondary school teacher. Sometimes the introduction of one student who transfers in changes the entire nature of the entire class. I teach in a rugged urban environment. Last hour class was a dream at the beginning of the year until Larry moved in. Went from my easiest class to my most challenging. One kid. Coaches should be able to recognize this. Sometimes they don't.
@kjayhawks 88 was paved with some favorable matchups too. Top 3 seeds all eliminated, #1 Purdue by 4 seed KState, #2 Pitt taken out by 7 seed vandy, and 3 seed NCState taken out by #14 Murray State. So we played an 11, 14, 7, and 4 to get to KC.
Oh yes. 04-06 even were the back to back killer B's. Yet we were able to
@approxinfinity Yet they were an OT of making it 3 FF's in a row. I just looked at it and they had a road paved to that point with 13 seed, 12 seed and 9 seed to get to the EE against 3 seed Tech which actually was the higher seed. Had we won we'd have played OK State in the FF which beat OKie and played in the finals against UConn.
@drgnslayr said in Tonight's game:
We could play even with their 3rd-string lineup.
It looks now like every game dips lower. If this keeps up we lay eggs the remaining games and Self declines an invitation to the NIT. At this point, I’d hope he declines an invite to March Madness. We might have the worst loss in tournament history.
It should appear clear to everyone this is more than a few bad players. Heck, Juan and KJ played big roles on our championship team.
The worst loss in NCAAT history clearly belongs to Marquette on the biggest stage when we were beating them by 40 points, doubling their point total throughout almost all of the 2nd half. They had a dude named Duane Wade so they weren't chumps!
Correct me if I'm right but this is now a two game losing streak to BYU which has made us look without ept, inept, each time.
@bskeet First time maybe was the 2018 ff against Villanova. I mean that was a historically great Nova team, but it looked like a lot of these losses, them just making 3 after 3, bill calling TO, then more of the same.
As a Sox fan I'm used to saying Sell the Team Jerry. Can anyone sell this team? Would that help?
The money's making these guys soft. Maybe that's it.
@nuleafjhawk I'm not sure I understand that comment?
What does coach even say at halftime?
Why can't this team start games well? It seems we're down 8-0 every time now. Totally affects the morale of the team and it just spirals.
Hunter finally makes a shot and they count it off.
@nuleafjhawk Truer words have never been written!
Storr aint ever heard of a bounce pass?
@nuleafjhawk Sorry nuleaf, but the snide sarcastic comments from a lot of commenters are getting tiresome. This is obviously a startling thing to see our team going through, but what good is it to act like we're the worst team in history? Maybe we don't know how to act when our team is not good. It sucks, but for the first time since maybe the early 1980's we've got a team that isn't goode enough to compete.
I'm proud to be a Jayhawk!
@BeddieKU23 Just arrived, which starter is out?
For coaches with at least 100 games, Bill Self leads all BIG coaches in winning percentage, Bo Ryan is 2nd. As Mel Allen used to say, "How about that".
Lawrence PD is savage on Twitter: "The roads around Lawrence aren't great, but they also aren't terrible. We aren't currently working any crashes or slide-offs. However, it's colder than KState's national championship record out there, so maybe stay home anyway."
Or this: "The Lawrence Police Department probably won't be playing in any NCAA championships this year. Or any year. Just like KState."
Been interesting to compare the two. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Gard has adjusted his philosophy a lot more (?) than Self. UW is one of the top scoring teams in the country now, scored 58 in the 2nd half yesterday in W. Lafayette. Many had the same complaint about Gard as a lot of you guys do with Self, that he's stubborn, won't change. Gard will get COY votes this year because of it. He's could match Self for conference championships in the last 5 years too if they keep winning with 3 since 2020.
1 lost 10 it says in the middle tried to edit 3 different times, should say 2019 lost 10.
Uncharted territory forthcoming. Or is it. 6 regular season games:
At BYU Loss, 17-9
home against OSU. Win, 18-9
Road against Colorado, win, typing that with fear and trembling. Win 19-9
Home TTech. Loss. 19-10
Road Houston Loss 19-11
Home Arizona Loss 19-12
Big 12 tournament. Loss after 1 win 20-13.
Should be the 7-8 seed that other teams will fear because of our name on our jersey.
Sometimes hard to remember but just last year we lost 11.
In 2019, we lost 10
13-14 Lost 10
99 and 00 seasons lost 10.
3 year stretch from the seasons ending 87-89 with over 10 losses, of course the huge punctuation mark of a natty.
Before Brown arrived, and before I arrived must've been really dark years.
I can't imagine a year like 1978-79 where AFH hosted the first 2 rounds of the dance but KU wasn't invited to play in their own gym.
So the 'we've had it good' narrative is little comfort it does offer some perspective.
I was going to title this thread 'could we be a bubble team?' I guess if the bottom really drops and we can't even win against OSU at home or Colorado on the road then the team turns into a 14 loss what did you do for me lately team and they truly are on the bubble. I doubt that happens.
What could be coming might be a fun lower seed that suddenly figures it out in the dance and fights and claws back into being a story. Of course I didn't see that possibility last night. No one else did. There was not one positive to say about that game except we don't have that one guy shooting FT's for us who went 1-9 at the line.
This season could end in flames. There's still hope for the more optimistic. Until a few games ago I was still very positive. The Houston meltdown, the road woes notwithstanding. Might it be fun even to see us win some as the underdog in March?
Maybe DOGE can take care of this problem.
Terrance was great and I'm glad the rape charge was dropped. But it seems like someone who only made it to the elite 8 (well made it much further in 2019) at Illinois maybe shouldn't be remembered up in the rafters. His last game his team gave up a 30-0 run to UConn. The gaffe yesterday was hilarious and hearing the audio of it is just as funny.
@kjayhawks Calling our coaches SOB's is something you could do but it's not right.
I've felt we've been ranked basically on reputation alone the last few weeks.
This guy is 1-9 at the line!
@dylans From like 5 feet. That's the way I shoot it.
We gonna lose
We should foul lovering every time he touches the ball. 39% at the line.
The ref inbounded the ball at the wrong place. Should have been smack in the corner. Much harder to inbound the ball there.
They've played this whole game like ok, we came back, now our superior talent and athleticism will take over and lead us to an inspiring victory. So they tie it and then boom, down 8 again. That can't happen anymore.
@patoh3 Thanks!
So why is Flory shooting the FTs? Didn't Zeke get fouled
Looked like hyperextended a bit.
I'm googling knee injuries right now. Says rub some dirt on it.
Wow that kid is 39% FT shooting.
Seems like every time there's a jump ball it's pointing at the other team.
What could have been a 4 point trip or even 5 turns into 1.
That's not what I'd call a basketball play.
Hunter's been pretty good for us this year. Tonight he does not have it. Maybe it's the altitude, maybe he went skiing today in the Wasatch and is tired. Maybe he took a float in great salt lake. Maybe he converted to mormonism. IDK.
@nuleafjhawk said in Ute came to the right place:
@wissox who doesn't like a good horror show?
It's almost bed time, gonna have nightmares.
@DanR Right first letter. Depaul was the other by the way and came close to beating Indiana St in the semis. Mark Aguirre missed a buzzer beater to send it to OT.
What exactly are we watching here?
