Watching us come into the dance as a bit of an underdog would be different. I don't think we deserve much more than a 3 and thats if we really finish strongly.

I wasn't really watching when Kevin "shoved the ball" at the KSU guy. So when they showed the replay I was like wow, these kids are triggered pretty dang easily if that was a provocation.

Dai Dai Ames high school coach was Nic Irvin. Nics brother was Byron Irvin who played at Mizzery. Nic had one of the top teams in the state this year until it was discovered he was using ineligible players due to fake addresses. He has a rep for that. He's also been the coach of Mac Irvin Fire named after his late father.
I attended an elite 8 doubleheader last night at the UIC Pavilion. I wish you all could witness Chicago basketball. There were probably close to 8 or 9 thousand people there between the two games. Great energy and excitement. Nationally ranked players on the floor in both games. I got to watch one of my old students star in the 4A game which was probably the state championship game as it was the top 2 ranked teams, Homewood Flossmoor where Julian Wright played, and Curie, where our one and own Cliff Alexander played. Gianni Cobb is the kid I taught, actually going to Columbia in NYC, he always told me he wanted to play at KU. Maybe he'll hit the transfer portal!
@DanR No, I don't either. Williams I never minded til he said like 3 times tonight that Jank wasn't set. I'm still mad at him for irresponsibly getting in that motorcycle accident and sinking the bulls hopes. But that did lead to them drafting Kirk H so I was happy about that.

@kjayhawks Against Duke, FF 1986. First appearance of the Coach K whistle. I rant about it a lot, go look at the box score. It was bad. KU beat national champ Louisville twice that season but was denied a chance to play and beat them a third time which I'm sure we would have.

I'm always excited when, especially in this day and age of games on streaming channels when I can look at the guide and see the Jayhawks are on TV. Got the laptop ready, getting excited for the tip and hopes for the great revival of KU basketball to happen.
Was reminded the other day of the first Jayhawk home loss I witnessed which wasn't until my senior year. Mitch Richmond came in and he was so good and led his team to a shockingly easy KState win. The, ahem, older people, got up to leave early. All of us in the student section started chanting "Don't come back"!
Hopefully nothing like that happens tonight! Lets get some revenge and beat the daylights out of them. Would love to see them gain some mo going into March madness.

@mayjay Andujar had an all time meltdown in game 7. While the blown call looms large you're right, if you're the cards strap it down and get the next 3 guys out and it's just another Cardinals WS winner! The Cubs fans blame Bartman similarly. The interference didn't even put a guy on base. Just another foul ball was the call. They also led the series 3-1 and were leading that deciding game 6 3-0 when the famous non play happened. It may have been the same batter who then reached on an error by the Cubs shortstop. He's the one, if anyone who should be blamed.
Like many overblown sports plays the Laettner 'greatest shot ever (by a Duke player)' was an NCAA quarterfinal game. Sure Duke doesn't win the NC if they don't convert, but it's a slap in the face to the many other players who also made great game winners in the Big Dance and who aren't as well known.
@mayjay The 85 Royals were 1 Don Denkinger blown call (probably) away from losing that World Series 4 games to 2.

There's nothing earth shattering here. Some of you haven't been excited for KU basketball for years. Nothing worse than a 4 seed since 2008. Twitiots saying Bill Self has lost it. Some here saying he basically is so stubborn that we're doomed. We won a national championship 2 years ago. May have won one 4 years ago. Played in the FF 6 years ago. Doesn't sound like too many reasons for pessimism there.
If they do have a down year next year some of you will be out here bragging about how you told us. How you it pains you but how you were really right predicting we would suck. You'll be so proud of yourself. Or maybe you'll leave.
This breaks it down. Doesn't include 2023 and Purdues first round embarassment. But I'm cool even with a 4 or 5 seed. If every seed played to form 5 seeds wouldn't make it to the round of 16, but this shows even 5 seeds are over .500 in the 2nd round of the dance. The kryptonite for 4/5 seeds is the 3rd round where their records are well below .500, but magically their elite 8 record is above .500. But only one 4-5 seed has ever won it.
@NormRoberts Why? Kentucky has a flaming out coach and is becoming more and more an afterthought in college hoops. We have one crappy season in the last decade and now it pains us to see UK? Come on! Look at their track record since the Badgers wrecked their perfect season! A couple of elite 8's in there and some really bad seasons in there too.

Maybe an 18-7 foul differential is as big a reason as any as to why we lost. These refs were corrupt from the get go.
