Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 09:03 PM

I just went back and watched the Udeh screen. He did nothing wrong. Literally nothing wrong.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 09:01 PM

WOW what a pass for that should be a back up PG!

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 09:00 PM

Refs suck. No Bill Self to worry about.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:59 PM

We've got to figure out these back door wide open lobs.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:56 PM

KJ got fouled?

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:55 PM

Arkansas should have stayed in the SW conference and then become part of the Big 8/12

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:50 PM

Scoreboard guy trying to help us on that FT

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:49 PM

Yes Yes!

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:47 PM

No Yes

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:45 PM

Anyone remember beating Arkansas in the 1993 tournament on the way to the final four?

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:38 PM

Lets put Arkansas through 40 minutes of hell

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:36 PM

@approxinfinity She is the mom of a kid going for his 4th straight national championship who got upset last night, get this, by a kid from Purdue. They're calling it the biggest upset in wrestling history.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:33 PM

I hope we don't have to be like the Iowa wrestling mom today.
?s=20

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:29 PM

@kjayhawks Wide open, simple bounce pass would suffice.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:29 PM

Our offensive rebounding is great! Which also means we missed a bunch of shots already.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 08:27 PM

This is fun. Little pressure really. Coach is out, we're the defending champs, lots of picks showing Arkansas or whatever. I won't be nervous til the last 30 seconds today.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 03:15 PM

Develop that chip in the next few hours.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 18, 2023 01:27 PM

@mayjay Yeah, I've been around and I have the strange habit of making connections. In short mom was born in Pittsburgh. That's enough for me to say go Pitt-PSU! Strange thing is living in Baton Rouge I didn't connect at all with LSU.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 18, 2023 01:16 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Really hoping for a Pitt-Penn St 3rd round game. I enjoy seeing matchups like that. I have a lot of Pennsylvania connections in the Pittsburgh area so it'll be fun if it happens. Pitt surprised me yesterday. I wasn't able to watch but kept looking at the score in utter amazement.

Hog Wild Game Thread • Mar 18, 2023 03:39 AM

I see what you did BShark starting the game thread 24 hours before the game starts. No way I can start one now.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 18, 2023 03:37 AM

Indiana win helps our NET right? :)

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 18, 2023 03:21 AM

Just started watching, but the dude makes a great important shot and these announcers don't know to get excited? Where's Gus Johnson?

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 18, 2023 02:48 AM

Read thru the comments. Was watching, but kids were over tonight so no chatting. If KU doesn't win, I'd rather see a BIG team win the whole thing (except Iowa of course). Brutal. I'm speechless. My best friend from HS is a Purdue grad and I've always liked them to a degree. Not enough for this loss to sting thankfully. What an embarrassment. FDU seemed to have a plan to try to knock the ball out of Purdues hands as often as possible. Really shocking how much they controlled possession in this game when balls were up for grabs.

Important Big 14 news • Mar 18, 2023 02:30 AM

The Big Ten, AKA, the Big 14 but really will become the Big 16 in their quest to take over the entire world of NCAA Sports. When questioned about this the commissioner was quoted as saying that as the leading sports conference in America we really ought to have some of those trophies that anyone cares about, the football trophy currently being hogged by two states and the basketball trophy currently being hogged by, well, ahem, Kansas!

So a plan has been hatched. It started with two glamorous names from the west with the name California in them. The league's invitation to them was intended to draw in prestigious institutions with great traditions and huge endowments, and beautiful sun splashed campuses full of the future glamour tycoons of American entertainment. It would stretch up the coast to the money of Nike and on up to the Zags.

Looking east, the conference started years ago snatching up football power PSU, previously known as State Pen because of some truly awful stuff I shouldn't even be making light of. Touchdown Jesus will be watching over all sports related activities as ND is brought into the fold.

Looking south and east is the major prize. Once that part of the country is brought into the Big 100 true domination of NCAA sports will begin. Commissioner Bob was quoted tonight after league favorite Purdon't shockingly lost to someone from KU favorite Grady Dick's family (fairly dickinson, get it?) "Hey the fans of BIG country are getting restless. We have haven't won a NC in basketball since 2000. Thanks to OSU at least we won a title in 2014, but dadgummit I can get our teams into that football playoff but they keep proving they don't belong."

So today, the Big 14 has announced a takeover of the ACC, SEC, Big East, PacMan12, and whatever league fairy dickinson is in. Once again Commissioner Bob, "In order for our glorious and traditional league to win championships we will simply add all teams that have any chance of winning a trophy so that these prizes will reside right where they belong in America's heartland".

When asked about the proposed change Kansas coach Bill Self said "we can win that conference too, probably go undefeated in it so we're not worried".

KU Buckets Bracket Challenge 2023 • Mar 17, 2023 05:14 PM

@dylans I've climbed Kennesaw Mountain, really just a 500 foot hill NW of Atlanta.

KU Buckets Bracket Challenge 2023 • Mar 17, 2023 04:46 PM

Picked Kennesaw St over St. X Halfway there. My logic was if a team loses to DePaul which X did they can't be too good.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 03:40 PM

Wow, I just learned that the kid who made the bad pass is the same kid who made a relatively famous pass in this game:

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 03:31 PM

I actually think Fleck is probably a cool guy to hang around. By all accounts away from the court McCaffery is a very cheritable good guy who raises a lot of money for cancer research. But goodness on the court, there's hardly ever been anyone so unlikeable.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 02:07 PM

@BShark Funny thing is I hated Madden as a coach. But his TV made him extremely likeable. I've never really met a D1 coach that I can think of. I did ask Larry Brown for a picture as he was sitting on a folding chair 2 hours before game time watching guys shoot. But didn't talk, really appeared to have no interest in talking.

Arkansas…. • Mar 17, 2023 02:01 PM

"Arkansas full of NBA..." We are too. You simply don't win as many games as we have without having elite level athleticism. Our team knows how to win. Arkansas is a program on the uptick I think so I don't want to appear overconfident but winning the Big 12 means we've prevailed in a league full of NBA talent and athleticism.

I think it will be a typical close match, but our experience and our coach will push us through to the sweet 16.

Arkansas…. • Mar 17, 2023 01:55 PM

@AsadZ said in Arkansas….:

@kuballin10 I like to stay positive

Bring positive energy in the room instead of sucking the air out.

Me too. I'm positive I'm tired of certain commenters. (not you!)

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 12:41 PM

Early release day today so we can finish 3rd quarter grades. Perfect timing to watch bball in my room til 3:10, (while, in case my boss sees this) working at completing all grades.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 12:39 PM

LOL, bragging about an NIT runner up. It's like PJ Fleck had rings made up for his team a few years ago because they finished 2nd in the BIG division in football.

KU Buckets Bracket Challenge 2023 • Mar 17, 2023 11:14 AM

@dylans I picked Furman and Princeton, does that count?

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 02:45 AM

Penn St. 11-15 3 pointers right now. One guy is not in a funk although his last name is Funk. He's 7-8 on 3's

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 02:05 AM

BIG fans have a lot of respect for Penn St. coach Shrewsberry. He's just a very down to earth, even keeled type, and even in defeat says the right things. I'm guessing he might get lured away from Happy Valley, because PSU fans are like SEC fans, they don't care about their basketball team all that much. Attendance is low there. Lots of empty seats behind baskets even when one of the bigger name teams is in town.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 17, 2023 01:18 AM

Good for Northwestern. 2nd win all time in NCAA games which just shows how blest we are to be Jayhawk fans.

Told my wife today since I enrolled in 1986 3 times we've not played past the first round, once of course we couldn't defend the title in 89, then the two killer B's in mid 2000's. 2nd round has been the round that has haunted us if there has been. Anyone remember Roy pulling out a stuffed monkey in 2001 and pulling it off his back to symbolize getting the monkey off his back after we got back to the sweet 16 after misses in 98,99, and 00?

I'm not totally confident for Saturday, although we should be able to handle Arkansas. They've had a fairly impressive season, but 4 quad 1 wins vs. 17 is a big difference. They only had 6 quad 1 games all season. In case you forgot we had 24! But they handled Illinois and I think Musselman is a pretty decent coach.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 16, 2023 10:37 PM

I never cheer for the Sec but I'd love to see Iowa get waxed by Brucy Pearly.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 16, 2023 10:23 PM

@kjayhawks said in NCAA NON- KU GAMES:

A good rule of thumb is to never pick pac 12 or big ten teams to win much. B10 hasn’t had a NC since 2000 and P12 since 1997

BIG had a champion in 2015 until Coach K called TO and huddled with officials instead of his team and suddenly a 10 point lead had disappeared.

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 16, 2023 09:23 PM

@benshawks08 I think Bama can knock em off

NCAA NON- KU GAMES • Mar 16, 2023 09:20 PM

Bad day for the conference of champions

KU Buckets Bracket Challenge 2023 • Mar 16, 2023 08:52 PM

On my fun bracket I picked Furman. On my serious bracket I'm buried already!

2023 MLB Season - Royals • Mar 16, 2023 08:51 PM

@AsadZ I don't even want to say 'fortunately he's a Met' but he's not on the Sox.

@mayjay Word would have gotten back to my parents had I been foul mouthed!

I wrote "two much" LOL

KJ has two much motion in his FT shooting. There's no need to dip way down to the ground almost with the ball and come up and shoot.

@BShark Virginia won a NC because Purdue lost their heads and chased a loose ball down court instead of staying home and defending their own hoop. No way Virginia even gets a shot off if they played that the way they should have.

Just saw the highlights. That guy from Virginia total brain fart. Hilarious though.

Wow! 1 bracket correct on Furman

Hard to imagine we have to complain about fouls when we're playing Howard. But KJ got mauled on his dunk

Whoa, Furman scaring Virginia.
