If Oklahoma's forward gets a banner in his honor with celestial bodies on it will it be called a Star Spangler Banner?
Let's GEAUX Jayhawks
@JayHawkFanToo I see your point, but I think that showing national rankings in each shows pretty conclusively strengths and weaknesses as well.
@JayHawkFanToo When a team is ranked top five out of 330 in any category half way through a season it tells us a lot about the strengths of that team.
Statistically KU and OU are very similar.
Scoring KU 3, OU 6
FG percentage KU 5, OU 35,
3 Pt. percentage KU 2, OU 3
FG percentage defense KU 45, OU 9
3pt percentage defense, KU 66 OU 20
Turnovers KU 30, OU 33
Assist/turnover KU 11, OU 57
Strength of schedule KU 45, OU 73
I won't even mention RPI because it's a joke.
Statistically it's a wash.
@KUSTEVE Oooh, I was just the opposite. I hated OU, not as much anymore. But Billy Tubbs "we know we're the better team" which was said after the game. Stacey King when he was drafted by the Bulls, "it's great coming to Chicago because I'll be able to get some great endorsements" to just their arrogance. They were good I'll give you that. But Billy not subbing in that championship game was one of the great coaching blunders in title game history, right up there with Guy Lewis telling Phi Slamma Jamma they no longer could run up and down the court against NCState.
I heard a story that the year before I was on campus that a game for the Big 8 championship was played on our floor and it went to OT and OU trounced us, called TO at the end of the game so they could celebrate on our floor. Classless.
"I donβt recall a talented basketball team being beaten as badly as KU beat Baylor EVER!"
Oh come now Mr. Jaybate. You can remember things like famous alchemists, and Scipio Africanus and know words like prurience for goodness sakes, but can't recall us defeating Marquette in 2003 with 3 future pros, two who are still playing? Remember that game? We were winning 70-30 at one point!! The Carolina beatdown comes to mind in 2008 semis as well.
You did bring out the inadequacies of Scott Drew. He seems to get a deer in the headlights look when things aren't going too well. One of the most beautiful games I ever watched was UW against Baylor in the 2014 tourney, sweet 16. It was an absolute clinic of how to play against a zone. The pregame noise was UW won't be able to compete against BU's length and athleticism. Bo showed how it's done. And the look on Scott's face was one of total cluelessness. Just like yesterday.
@JayHawkFanToo What was frustrating was they kept saying on the broadcast at the end of the UT-Aub game was we could watch it on line, but nothing happened when you'd click on line, except a video screen saying 'we'll be right back'. CBS hasn't figured out how to put a different game on their website than the one they're airing because the exact same thing has happened in the past to me.
@pa_grape Disrupted the flow a lot of times, but didn't hurt us fortunately.
The real question is with all the great games on tap today why in the heck did CBS show Tenn-Aub? Several top ten show downs that CBS doesn't think are worth a national free TV audience? I'll never understand it.
I came away thinking that with Cheick playing so little, as well as Bragg, yet us playing so well with out them that we aren't going to be seeing more of Cheick and Bragg.
Mason and Graham were just amazing today as you noted, and you, @HighEliteMajor barely mentioned that Selden was our best player today, at least for a half!
On the live thread we were talking about rebounding and how well we rebounded against a team ranked 11th nationally in rebounding margin.
Even though Baylor came in leading the nation in assists, they were held way below their average. Again, an important part of the game related to our defense.
Can't wait for Monday night.
@RockChalkinTexas I can't stand Brent, but I don't mind Dicky V!
@brooksmd Too much for me! Forget about it, shouldn't have ever thought about it!
@brooksmd So you're thinking about it too!
@brooksmd Anyone know if it's easy to get tickets to TCU games? We play them there on a Saturday, I'm thinking of doing something stupid and driving there and trying to watch us play.
Danny told his teammates they were going to run with OU in the 1st half, despite what Larry had just told them! 50-50, still the greatest run and gun of basketball ever played in the college game!
@KUSTEVE I still can't believe though that we let St. Joe's go full court in the last second to beat us! I was a stupid HS kid that year and I thought I wanted to kill myself after that!
@cragarhawk Just being a homer fan! No, OU actually worries me.
@KUSTEVE I actually didn't know anything about KU basketball until I enrolled there in 1985, so I don't remember Ted Owens, but I've heard. Back then I was all about anything having to do with Chicago hoops, Depaul, U of I, even Loyola was very good then.
@KUSTEVE A year ago I decided to log into their live feed during a game. I could only stand it for five minutes. I don't think @Jesse-Newell was working that night. I wonder if the dude wants Self fired still? Will he after we wax OK Monday night too?
@KUSTEVE It wasn't the person who may have been trolling very early here saying the same thing, but it seemed very tongue in cheek?
@RockChalkinTexas That's a good one. It'd be good for Ok to win to keep our high profile matchup on Monday intact.
Bragg's 1st 3?
We're doing this to a team with a number next to their name.
@Crimsonorblue22 Start the Chant!
@Crimsonorblue22 and so did Frank on that drive
Oklahoma comes in ranked 6th in scoring just behind us. This is going to be fun Monday Night.
@Crimsonorblue22 They might
We are now outrebounding baylor
There you go! BG's off the schneid
@Bwag But it wasn't called on him!
Jam! Terrific!
BG has made one 3 since the Montana game.
The machine is all cylinders firing and in fine condition!
Anyone seen Cheick this half? Bragg?
Baylor is 1st nationally in assists per game, but they have only 6 today with 10 TO's
This gives a nice summary of our statistical ranking.
Baylor is 35th nationally in RB's per game, we're 155th.
@Texas-Hawk-10 ESPN shows them +3
@JRyman Thanks, got fooled in the way it looked.
was that pass through the legs?
@Texas-Hawk-10 I don't have the stats in front of me, but isn't Baylor one of the NCAA's best rebounding teams normally? Yahoo has us down 3 boards to them.
@RockChalkinTexas I was trying to remember his name, but it seems like they've always had some bombers.
How about Graham! I love that kid!
@brooksmd I thought he got bumped on the drive.
Baylor has only taken 4 3 pointers. A far cry from their days of bombing them from all over.
Wayne got fouled on that drive
@DCHawker I agree on your FT comment. It just seemed so many fouls were cheap. Just like the one on Frank right there.
@RockChalkinTexas I agreed with his too many touch fouls comment. They called one on Mason and Frank just stared, like really, you're going to call that?
@RockChalkinTexas I know they say that, and I sure hope I'm wrong. But missing 10 foot jumpers in the lane (which prompted my comment) doesn't necessarily communicate upside and potential to me.
@wissoxfan83 "High"
Svi still appears hi on draft boards. I'm not real smart, but I don't get it.
Some fan made the national broadcast "oh my goodness"
