He is what a radio sports announcer should sound like. He made long drives at night pass quickly with a complete understanding of how to paint a picture to the radio listener. The genuine love for the game made him one of the best. He will be missed.
Sorry, I forgot. Here are Jaybate's Wife and Father-in-law.
A very important game. Alford has turned the corner at UCLA and finally has the players. It means very much for the seeding process. I watched the game last night. They are very good.
Famous Alumni minus football and basketball except for Mark Harmon who was also an All-American Quarterback at UCLA.
@SoftballDad2011 Chitwood.
Three winning coaches with different methods. One choked his players. One got choked by his player and one, never choked.
While in college, I had an assignment that I worked my butt off to prepare. When I presented it, following several others who were horrible, I was the one who was given a scathing review by this older female Phd. When she was through, I said to her that I thought that my presentation had been the best of all of them. She said it was. I asked her why the others escaped her wrath and that she had singled me out. She told me because I really cared and that she did to. With all my heart, I believe that Coach really cares about his players. When I played basketball, I had an assistant coach that called me every name in the book and humiliated me at every turn in practice, even after he made me a starter. I complained to everyone who would listen to me. I didn't see that I had become a better player and methods of teaching can be disputed, but results can't be. Think of Latrell Sprewell choking P.J. Carlisimo, Think of Bobby knight and the loyalty his national championship teams have for him and wonder how that could happen when he throws a chair and chokes a player. I've seen high school football coaches grab a kids facemask and throw them to the ground. There are the John Wooden's that win national championships and there are the Bobby Knight's. I'm sure that all of the KU coaches have worked individually on BG's defense. He wants the five on the floor that give him the best chance to win now. That's who he is, and he's the boss. Many say that they would be willing to lose if a Freshman could get more playing time or a good shooter just was given several games to learn how to get open, or let a skinny big man play through their mistakes. You've got to dance with the one who brung you, and the one that brung you to the dance is Bill Self.
I have a feeling though, that if he did do what you've screamed at him to do and they lost, the screaming and blaming would only be louder.
“I’m pouring this into an NCAA-approved cup. If you have any NCAA-approved ice, I would appreciate that.”
— Then-Kansas coach Roy Williams, after not being allowed to enter a press conference with a soda bottle that was not an NCAA sponsor
Fire him now!
Signed,
The Coaches of the Big 12.
Let the haters on this site vent. They've been waiting for our first loss to show their superior coaching abilities over Coach Self. They have never been to a practice to understand why "who gets minutes and who doesn't". It's easy for them to see that a slow footed shooter, who did well in the Northern Colorado game should start and have an entire offense built around him to get him open. Pittsburgh State gave us a better game than Northen Colorado. Greene did not get back on defense, let alone, play defense. He did not take a shot because he is easily blanketed by a good team that scouts their opponent. Dump on Bill all you want and pray that we lose so you can get rid of this person who has ruined your perfect team. Virginia has lost so has North Carolina to UNI, Duke has lost. It's a damn good team we have here in Kansas. When this string of Conference Championships is over, we've been told that we will start getting all of the recruits that Nike is giving to Kentucky. Time to just role the ball out to the future lottery picks and play the Dribble Drive. It was Self who asked Greene's parents to sit in and have them hear why he made his decision. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not back on the team when they get back from Maui.
@HighEliteMajor Your second and third paragraphs disagree with your last two. Greene was slow against MSU, SLOW. OSU runs an entire offense trying to get Forte open. Forte has twice the speed and Handles as Greene.
Maui is where Brandon Rush got approved. It's an omen of better things to come, but according to Emily Dickenson, " Hope is the thing with feathers."
@Crimsonorblue22 That is the first good news I've heard since Chicago!
By the way, good riddance to all that have said that they will not watch KU Basketball anymore because they are tired of losing in the Champions
classic to MSU and Kentucky. The attitude for this bunch is Perfection, not Progress.
Coach was praised for having an understanding about the Football playoff system last night on his radio show and said "That's good, because most people around here apparently don't think I'm a good coach." I'm sorry we lost, but I'm still a very big Bill Self fan. Too bad all of the board rats that watch practice every day with him and all the other coaches can't see what a savior Hunter can be. Sarcasm intended. I'm sorry we lost, but as a fan of the game, I have to give credit to Valentine and the amazing game he played. Our leaders are the two wonderful guards that we haven't had for a long time. they played hard but all of the lay ups failed to go in the basket. Our Bigs right now, are not the strong point, I hope Diallo plays in the Maui, but we must know by tomorrow or he'll stay in Lawrence.
