Mick's thin frame doesn't allow him to do this as well and Lucas can, but is a step slower. You have a more "true Center" type player who would never be able to run the weave. Diallo will be a faster, shot blocking Center, but To the anti's that hate Bill allowing Jamari his minutes, understand what Self wants and why he "Stubbornly" plays him.
I cringed twice during the Championship game when Jamari telegraphed two intercepted passes during the old standby Norman Dale era weave similar to the Picket Fence. Mickelson did not get put in to substitute by Captain Hook.
Watching the whole tournament again, and hearing the announcers talk about the great screens of Jamari and about being a guy who knows his role on the team, I found two moments in the Championship game of him doing what he does best - set powerful, legal, Hard picks.
Here are two examples - In the first picture, he wall's off the footer to allow Perry his only dunk. In the second, he sets a high screen which allows Devonte to penetrate to his left and score on his diving Circus shot.

The next three games are against Mid-Majors with losing records. Holy Cross and Loyola from the Patriot League and Harvard from the Ivy League. Many minutes for Diallo and a chance for Svi to lay claim to the 2nd 3 spot. Lots of offense will be inserted during these three games. I am certainly looking forward to the upcoming track meets, especially if the guards keep up the number of steals. If Diallo can throw a decent outlet, the guards will begin leaking out for the easy fast break layups. There could be two or three more 100 plus games coming up. Maybe even Tyler might score.

Self's second half adjustments to take on the switching was perfect. Devonte and Frank were like Pavlov's dog salivating to drive and score or drive and dish. Don't get on Self because Mari isn't a look first scorer, he set some mean picks on some big men last night. Mari is the football player on this team. Yes it looks ugly when he is part of the weave, but that's not the reason Self plays him. He'll be on the court a while longer, and so will Lucas before Diallo starts. The teams we play before Conference will be a good period for us to discover Diallo and he to learn how he can make this team even better. Quit bashing our Bigs. They're all we've got.
We did do an excellent job on Alford. and the rest of the outside shooters except for Hamilton. Svi was great on defense last night.

Center Damian Jones (7-0, 245 junior) and guard Wade Baldwin (6-3 soph) had 17 points apiece while Jeff Roberson (6-6 soph) had 10 points. Seven footer Luke Kornet had eight points and six boards. Josh Henderson (7-foot senior) had nine points.
“They are a lot bigger. We are standing height 6-7 1/2 with Perry (Ellis). They are 7-foot, 6-11,” KU coach Bill Self said. “We’ll have to play bigger than our standing height and utilize our quickness inside.
“Vandy would be hard to play no matter what. With no days to prepare for a team that runs 100 different sets ... Kevin (Stallings, coach) has said it’s the most unselfish team he’s had. It’s like the open man is the go-to guy.”

Even though Mickelson played 10 minutes and picked up four fouls, he will have to play longer minutes tonight.

I feel sorry for all the people that have said they'll never watch the Jayhawks again because the Coach is a poopyhead that doesn't give the Jayhawks a green light to shoot the three. MSU might prove to be the best thing that happened to this team. Svi is growing up before our eyes and is playing great defense.
Jaybate and others have talked about the inability of Perry to play well over Big Big guys. I thought the new Jump Hook over Welsh last night showed us how much work Perry puts in to get better. He was quietly masterful last night. I also like the way that Svi keeps shooting and following his own miss to score.
