Where are all the pundits now that assured us that Texas had it in the bag this year?

WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINEERS • Feb 15, 2015 01:55 PM

Stonewall was born in the part of Virginia that became West Virginia and later fought against them. He was a Rock Star with the Southern Belles who took his demise with great sorrow.

The key to winning at Morgantown is to get the ball across the timeline and hit the free throws on the road. Huggy has put all his eggs in one basket with the full court press because other than being an energy team, they are not very good at scoring.

These summer games will really help Perry for next year. They will need to spend time relaxing and getting their legs back after all this BB.

Another one of those go on the road after a one day turnaround. This time it is to the East Coast again to play, with very little time to practice on breaking the WVU press. Devonte will see a lot of action in this game. This is a chance for Huggy to get his $25,000 which is written in his contract if he can beat KU.

West Virginia is also know for having the largest number of Pentecostal churches that feature Snake Handling. a phenomenon I have not seen in the Midwest.

Kevin Kietzman's war on KU. • Feb 13, 2015 02:36 PM

I left my store at six yesterday to go to another meeting. AM 610 had something inane on so I switched to 810, forgetting that Kietz had an 6pm highlight show of that days program highlights. I had already learned that Self had imposed a 4 game suspension of snacks and that he had done six months of pee testing and had paid his misdemeanor fine of over $1,000. His biggest crime had been in not telling Self of the situation. So the program I was listening to featured the KU weekly segment with Tom Keegan. OK, I'll always listen to any show about KU. Then the rant began. Here are some of the things that came out of Kietzman's mouth. "we know that player's smoke, I'm sure they probably all do at KU, I'm sure they probably do it with Howard and just laugh at how they all can get around the rules." Keegan said, but they do have to undergo drug testing. Keitz: "They've got trainers that can easily beat those drug test. I think we all know that at the end of this day that he will have to resign." Later when the announcement came out, he said, "They just did this so that Howard won't take his recruits to K-State." the Beat writers are having a field day with Kevin. Why do I let myself listen to that show in the afternoon. THC is the one item being tested that in this modern day is impossible to cover. It stays in your system for over a month. If you are invited to the NCAA Tourney, all players and coaches are tested.

New men on campus • Feb 13, 2015 02:55 AM

Maybe we'll see them this summer in the World Games.

KSU could use a Liberacebate right now. Never has a program dropped faster than a Prom dress. The student body wants Liberace out of there. He should have had a funeral for Huggy. He still has not mentioned if he'll lift the suspension on the pre-season player of the year. People calling in to his talk show are being openly critical of him as they speak. "Where are the screeners?" The only place worse than Manhatten is the debacle in Columbia. When they were in the Big 12 they would get great recruits from KC and St. Louis that hated Kansas. We won't play them anymore and no one in Columbia knows where Vanderbilt is and doesn't really care. 12 straight losses and no one really cares if their best player just broke his arm. Frank Haithe thought going to Tulsa would be a better job than MU. Anderson is a great coach, but he will never get anyone to come to Mizzou.

WVU - Get the ball across half-court and hit your free throws. These two things might be a big challenge for us.

NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY CALL HIM SNACKS? • Feb 12, 2015 10:29 PM

So he has already finished 6 months of pee test ordered through the court system of Peoria and paid his fine + a two week suspension. What kind of pressure are these recruiting coaches under? 2 DUI's for Huggy's boy that stayed at KSU before going to be with Turgeon and losing his job for his second arrest. I like the Jacque Vaughn idea. There must be some big fish he has on the line in recruiting, BIG FISH.

I feel that Traylor's blank box score last game was a direct reflection on losing his starting job. Mr. Hustle will bring his lunch pail like he did in the first Baylor game. He came to KU as a muscular, tall, blank slate. There is so much he has learned and so much that his lack of Youth ball has cost him. He is not a skilled dribbler or a practiced mid range shooter. He led the conference last year in shooting percentage because his shots were at the rim and he was good at it. Somehow, in an attempt to broaden his responsibilities, he has regressed in what he did best. He'll be a fifth year player soon, and we all know how well those guys do at KU. See the Conner Teahan team that played in the National Championship game.

This is one inside play that involved a beautiful shot fake and pass from Devonte and a super seal by Perry.

He is sent back onto the court and then this happens...!image.jpg ↗

That is when Simon brought up the deficiencies on defense. Coach is doing everything he can. I'm also sorry to have been so sarcastic.

Here is coach always coaching and caring. If he screams, he cares. People on the bench don't get yelled at. After the coaching there is a pat on the back and a smile.!image.jpg ↗

Here is Brannen letting Lucas clear for Ellis to come to the middle!
Ellis stops and hits the easytwo. !image.jpg ↗

@HighEliteMajor I know that you and I both love and live and die Jayhawks. I, like Keith Langford, was upset when the Run and Gun of Roy left us, to be taken over by a defensive minded coach. After 12 years I shared the joy of a National Championship, and the heartbreak of every loss. Your passion seems to be much greater than mine. You are brilliant in your anger. I don't understand the blame and harsh words though. I've been wrong in many of my assessments of players. I once stated that Selden was the leader of this team, I was wrong. I thought Svi's early showing would have him be a star this season. I defended Jamari just yesterday over Cliff. I just wanted to say that I don't believe Coaches statement was evil in regards to "Fools Gold."
I did think we must try to set up the outside shots by at least not being one dimensional. We did play inside successfully in the second half and hit six straight threes.
You were championing Brannen last year long before anyone else. The announcer last night asked Coach if Brannen was the best shooter he has ever coached. Self said he was and the only other that was nearly comparable was Brandon Rush. But the bile that this defensive coach has had to swallow this year because of poor defense could kill him.
Let me illustrate a few thoughts:

We can play inside the three point line, but not a back to the basket Withey's or Robinson style!image.jpg ↗

He missed the dunk but got fouled.

@jaybate-1.0 When UNLV was Ranked #1, Roy's team, that had Randall, " the best passing big man I've ever seen at KU" went into Madison Square Garden and beat them handily.

@jaybate-1.0 I don't know the Mike Evans to K-State story, please expand. Mostly I liked Dean because he was Jayhawk. The 2nd two I agree with you, although we did get Paul Pierce out of California.

Rest In Peace, Tark the Shark. • Feb 11, 2015 10:09 PM

This has been a sad week in College Basketball.

@HighEliteMajor When I get home from work and get the DVR cooking. I'll make some visuals to indulge. Do you want coach to apologize to the players for saying "Fool's Gold?" After last night are you convinced he's washed up? Is Self Anti three point shooting? Has he really cheapened anyone? Are there no easy baskets inside?

Jerry once said, "The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky that they're going to suspend Cleveland State for another two years." A good coach that bent the rules. Especially in Sin City, where the Casino's don't like the rules to be bent.

!jerry-tarkanian.jpg ↗

This is a false argument, Self will allow every open three point shot that 7 green-lighted guys can put up. Is it wrong to want defense, rebounds and fast breaks? No one is being shut down from shooting jump shots except all Big's not named Ellis. Fools gold refers to just shooting 3's and not doing the other things. The only fiction we're talking about is some fear that Self will have everyone quit shooting threes.
