Reminds me of when Hank Stram tackled the Ref after the game. That was the Ben Davidson Cheap shot game.
@RockChalkinTexas You're a female, right?
Hey you, You without a number! Tuck your shirt in!
What would have happened if Doug Gottlieb had worn these backwards?
OK Jesse I agree with you this time. - Ken Pom says Big 12 the best by far.

I've seen Staten make opposing guards foul out. His stop-start moves gets him a foul every time. But this is all 7 games from now and we're playing a team tonight that should have beat them before losing in overtime.
You also told us to book the Temple game.
Did we have a point guard? - No. Should Self have said what he said to the public? - No. Sometimes we blame his honesty. I read recently that Frank goes into Self's office almost everyday to sit and talk about strategies and everything else. Frank is not only a point guard, he is an extension of the coach on the court. Everyone listens to Frank. If you watch him between plays and during free throws, he is talking, talking and serious, serious. We didn't have a point guard then or an extension of Coach on the court. Now we do and his back up, though all smiles, has 20+ assist and 1 turnover. I felt like coach did during the YMCA, our Coach sometimes just says what's on his mind.
I predict that this will be an ugly road win with many gripes tomorrow.
TCU has a much better team than any other year in the Big12. They are 3rd in the country in defense percentage shooting (31%) behind only UK and Virginia. THERE ARE NO EASY OUTS IN THIS CONFERENCES!
What a play: Self on Monday commented on Jamari Traylor’s amazing hustle play against Texas. Traylor blocked a shot, had his shot blocked, went flying into the stands chasing an offensive rebound, ran to the other end and dove on a loose ball at halfcourt, the ball kicking to Frank Mason III, who scored a basket and was fouled.
“It’s the best play anybody has made since I’ve been here. Everybody says Mario’s shot,” said Self, referring to Mario Chalmer’s three-pointer that sent the 2008 NCAA title game into overtime. “Mario’s shot was a great shot. This was the best play. It was a 17- to 20-second play he made. I’ve never seen a better dive for the ball. Not only did he dive for it, he dove for it and stole it as he dove.
“It was as good a play I’ve witnessed a guy making. There’s been a fancier pass, this or that. This was an extended play. It was a special deal. He was so proud of himself, and the team was so proud of him.”
@Jyhwk_InTigrtwn LOL - I've never seen that before.
Alcoholism is a disease. But if you are a young college kid it is looked upon as just a right of passage. No harm, no foul. Unfortunately, outside of AA and Al-Anon, the perception is different. If someone with type two diabetes has a stroke while driving and kills everyone in a minivan, it is a horrible tragedy. If a person is Drinking and driving and kills everyone in a minivan, that person will go to jail. Conner is a very young man who is treated like a God to those in Wichita and many on this site. The attention that all of this is getting should serve as a lesson to all who function in the limelight. Jamari got through his second 15 minutes of Scrutiny as an adult. The courts are different now days in regard to DUI, MIP, and DWI. We all make mistakes and Conner is lucky that he had a family to bail him out and take him home. He's lucky to have a family that can afford an attorney to make it all a bit easier, and he is lucky that he has so many admirers to forgive and hope that he moves on. Brady had the same situation with a good family and we as Jayhawks gladly welcomed back the prodigal son. We should also remember once a Jayhawk, always a Jayhawk.
I don't usually read the Wichita Eagle, but this is an excellent hometown article.

@Jesse-Newell Also, there is no I in TEAM. You're my favorite Jess e.
He'll get to drive to practice and back after 2 months. 1 year of probation and court ordered AA meetings plus he'll have to go to SATOP meetings weekly for 6 months. Yes, I have a son.
Bleacher Report has us ranked at #7. that's a 2 seed.
@KUSTEVE When we lost to Temple, Seth Tweeted, "What the Hell was KU doing traveling to Philly to play Temple on a Monday after playing on a Saturday night before the Christmas Break." The turn around before the ISU game was evil with us doing the traveling. Even in the NCAA tournament, you at least get to play at the same neutral site and are able to sleep and play against a team that just went through what you did. Self himself said that the ISU scheduling went against the Big 12 bylaws.
What kind of transportation plans does the KU team employ? Do they fly to Dallas/Fort Worth the evening or day before the game and practice and get acclimated or do they practice here and fly down they day of the game. They have still used buses for ISU, K-State OU and OSU. Travel is fun when you're a kid but boy does it get to be a drag. Do they watch film during the trip? After the Texas game, Snacks, and the boys were surfing and tweeting all the way back from Austin. When do they eat? Many of them have special diets, IE, Sherron and the Low fat. Hudy travels everywhere with the team for pre-game stretching and possibly a weight lifting session late or early. It must be like moving an army.
@globaljaybird He had the pain threshold that Self likes.
In his book "The American Football League - A Year-by-Year History, 1960-1969", Ed Gruver quotes Texans/Chiefs coach Hank Stram as saying that Headrick, who refused to wear hip pads, had the highest pain threshold [he'd] ever seen in an athlete. Headrick played with a broken neck, infected gums, and a fractured thumb. When an injury left the bone in his finger protruding from the skin, Headrick popped the bones in place without missing a play.
“He was a fantastic football player,” former Chiefs tight end Fred Arbanas told The Kansas City Star. “Sherrill was so quick, most of the offensive linemen couldn’t get to him. He was such a wild man, people didn’t realize he was such a student of the game. Teams would come out in different formations, and Sherrill knew exactly where the ball was going to go.”
In the early days of the AFL, most players had jobs during the off season. When training camp began, Headrick would tell the rookies that the quickest way to get in shape was to run until you threw up.
Remember this? TCU Beats KU.
When Brady got his DUI, He apologized to the school and Self suspended him for a whole semester. Will Conner get the same treatment at Kochville?
They are starting to like Basketball in Fort Worth. Being in the Big 12 and having a great football team makes them want more. Hiring a big time coach was first on their agenda when they joined the league. They are hoping that he will add the Big 12 to his Coach Of the year list soon.

Not much in the way of Alums or Basketball History for that matter.
Trent Johnson has been Coach of the Year in the WAC -PAC10 and SEC.
@KUSTEVE I thought Wayne had a great game against Texas. His three's were as pretty as everyone else.
Texas putting on the press was a gift. My impressions of Devonte as a point guard goes up with every minute he plays. He and Frank calmly broke the press every time with no turnovers. The scouting report and how the entire team was ready for the press allowed Cliff many dunks in the second half. Coach Johnson, a great coach at Nevada and Stanford, was able to game plan against WVU's version of 40 minutes of hell. The Jock shot that put the game into overtime was a killer. TCU did everything right and still lost. There are no easy outs in the Big 12.
I would like to see more of the bench during these next two games to save some legs for ISU. I'm looking forward to that game but not listening to Mushburger who takes an ISU Viagra pill whenever they are featured. TCB at TCU. One game at a time.
Happiness in West Texas.

? Let us know?
He almost took the job at Iowa State.
@jaybate-1."JIMMY" Baldwin?
Koch Brother recruitment.
KU Athletics - great highlights
[
No longer are they the three little Bigs.
Thirty seconds of all out hustle starting with Jamari getting his shot blocked, then blocks on the other end jumps back in bound to save the possession goes for the block on the other end lands in the stands again then dives 15 feet to win a scrum which ends up in a play by Frank with a great finish which you feel he did to honor all that Jamari just did.

Yes, I know here is a lot of Basketball remaining.
Storming the court in Lubbock. ISU took TT as an
easy W.
Another hustle by Bam Bam!
Wayne, tho seated was the biggest cheerleader on the bench. Kelly, Devonte and Frank can all get into the paint. All of them take it as a personal challenge. The guards then either scored or dished. Only 8 in the rotation but it was a TEAM win with vicious doglike attacking on both ends of the floor.
@DoubleDD Most of it is started by Jamari. Excellent defense in the second half.
Looks like Wayne will be back next year.
