So KU has a game today... and tomorrow.. and Wednesday apparently.

Notre Dame, Syracuse then, who knows ? Who we play on Wednesday depends on:

Each team will play three guaranteed games. Following the conclusion of each team's second game, the win-loss records will determine who makes a trip to the championship game or the third-place game on Nov. 26. Teams that don't make the championship or third-place games will play in consolation games.

Championship game is scheduled for 9:30 EST Wednesday night. 3rd place game before that. Console games are mostly Wednesday but potential for Turkey Day as well.

I see KU gets $1 million in NIL for playing. I wonder how much of that is going to Peterson who won't even play. Only sort of kidding there. As I was writing this, I saw the Big-12 entered into some agreement today with this tournament going forward, ensuring 8 automatic spots for Big-12 teams. Can't be a bad thing besides having to play teams in the Big-12 even more. Not sure that's smartly planned out but who cares the schools getting a fat check.

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/47085242/big-12-players-era-sign-50m-hoops-deal-nil-payouts ↗

Feels like we majorly lucked out on opponent in both known games. Here's a list of teams in it. A good portion of these teams would beat KU if we played them without Peterson. Some of them probably even with.

Alabama
Auburn
Baylor
Creighton
Gonzaga
Houston
Iowa State
Kansas
Maryland
Michigan
Notre Dame
Oregon
Rutgers
San Diego State
St. John's
Syracuse
UNLV
Tennessee

No idea what to expect today. Notre Dame is ranked #73 via Kenpom. Burton is an All-ACC guard in his 3rd season. He has led them in 4 of 5 games scoring. They lost by 1 to Ohio St, otherwise they have beaten no one. They shoot 40% from 3, just a few more makes on same volume as KU, so they don't seem to live and die by the perimeter. Carson Towt has been a dominate rebounder so far (4th nationally at 12.5 a game).

This looks like a game that KU is just going to have to enforce their athletic advantage. ND only has 6 blocked shots so far in 5 games so it would seem we can exploit them at the rim. They are a very young team as well. Looks like they have played a lot of guys (11 at 8mpg or more) so far.

Seems like a winnable game today but I doubt it will be easy. We have to prove we can beat someone with a pulse first. Tomorrow is harder, Cuse is #61 on Kenpom with similar ranked offense. Another winnable game but will the guys have enough in the tank with our depth issues already popping up. Going to be interesting to see how these guys survive 3 games in 3 days.

I'm a little bummed i couldn't get to Vegas this year to watch the Hawks. The tickets ain't cheap though!

We went last year to the Duke game. That was a ton of fun.

As for the games, i don't know what to expect either. If we play hard like we did last week, we have a chance in all.

Nov 24, 2025 06:42 PM #3

btw, we dropped out of the Top 25 today. sigh.

Nov 24, 2025 07:52 PM #4

I have to go out until later. Amari gets 8 pts and we hit 8 thrtees. O/U? Have fun.

Nov 24, 2025 08:21 PM #5

We look terrible. Notre Dame clearly wants it more

Nov 24, 2025 08:22 PM #6

Watching every KU game without DP is like watching a guy fight with a arm tied behind his back

Nov 24, 2025 08:24 PM #7

Defense is optional today so far. Until they settle in and make some havoc we will continue to play behind once again

Nov 24, 2025 08:28 PM #8

If our game plan on d is to have Burton switched onto our bigs every possession I might as well turn this off. Amateur hour defensive scheme

Nov 24, 2025 08:28 PM #9

We have not beaten a major conference team so far.

Nov 24, 2025 08:29 PM #10

Was that foul really on Flory? WHat did he do?

Nov 24, 2025 08:29 PM #11

Bidunga foul trouble again. Good job flory

Nov 24, 2025 08:29 PM #12

@wissox

Clobbered the guy at the rim

Nov 24, 2025 08:31 PM #13

And 1 ref. You blind

Nov 24, 2025 08:32 PM #14

2 on Tiller already. What a theme every game

Nov 24, 2025 08:34 PM #15

Wow, how about an intentional foul too?

Nov 24, 2025 08:34 PM #16

Wow flory. Big time and intentional foul

Nov 24, 2025 08:35 PM #17

Flory is truly an incredible athlete

Nov 24, 2025 08:35 PM #18

It just feels like we'll get back from break and they won't even mention the intentional.

Nov 24, 2025 08:37 PM #19

It was a very polite flagrant at least

Nov 24, 2025 08:37 PM #20

Shocking they got it right. Ok

Nov 24, 2025 08:39 PM #21

Wow! 6 pt possession

Nov 24, 2025 08:45 PM #25

You cant play mari. Stop bill

Nov 24, 2025 08:45 PM #26

Sucks that Dawson got hurt. Watching Jamari is a horrible viewing experience

Nov 24, 2025 08:46 PM #27

Defense definitely enforcing their will

Nov 24, 2025 08:47 PM #28

Bout time they called a foul on flory man. Fouled him entire possession

Nov 24, 2025 08:49 PM #29

Surprisingly we are playing together. No TOs

Nov 24, 2025 08:52 PM #30

Crazy we are extending the lead playing 3 and 4 on 5 on offense. If you know, you know.

Nov 24, 2025 08:53 PM #31

Kohl and the bench are still scoreless

Nov 24, 2025 08:56 PM #32

@stoptheflop

Get used to it. We only have 4 guys who can score

Nov 24, 2025 08:56 PM #33

Has to be excruciating for DP to watch up close

Nov 24, 2025 08:56 PM #34

Can't let down now. Momentum shifting

Nov 24, 2025 08:59 PM #35

3 on 5 lineup. Redic

Nov 24, 2025 09:00 PM #36

UGH 1/6 from 3. Only 6 shots in almost 18 min

Nov 24, 2025 09:02 PM #37

No fouls Flory

Nov 24, 2025 09:02 PM #38

If Council cant make that in-rythm 3. Yikes

Nov 24, 2025 09:03 PM #39

Good elmarko and bad elmarko

Nov 24, 2025 09:03 PM #40

Glad to see one fall for any guard

Nov 24, 2025 09:05 PM #41

Unreal

Nov 24, 2025 09:06 PM #42

I turned 70 last week. I hope we score at least that many and more today

Nov 24, 2025 09:06 PM #43

That doesn't look fun for Tre

Nov 24, 2025 09:08 PM #44

Ugly end to it. Had them on the ropes and now it will be tight

Nov 24, 2025 09:10 PM #45

Bench at 20 minutes 3 pts and 2 assists. Nothing good to say so just leave it there

Nov 24, 2025 09:13 PM #46

@BeddieKU23 Other than next man up

Nov 24, 2025 09:16 PM #47

Need Tre White to be okay

What happens when you play Jamari and sit Flory basically. Gotta keep guys fresh for this so I get it. Thankfully some weaker opponents to start and Syracuse just announced their best player won't play in this event.

Nov 24, 2025 09:17 PM #49

@BShark I think he’s tough!

RIP Jimmy Cliff

Our condolences to the family and loved ones of brother

Yikes kohl

Nov 24, 2025 09:27 PM #54

Nice

Nov 24, 2025 09:28 PM #55

Tiller needs to be aggressive

Nov 24, 2025 09:30 PM #56

Council may never make a three

Nov 24, 2025 09:31 PM #57

Council cant shoot. How do we do this evrry yr

Nov 24, 2025 09:32 PM #58

We better score on this possession because we are looking like we bout to give this up

Nov 24, 2025 09:32 PM #59

Tre looked hesitant when the ball was down low

Nov 24, 2025 09:32 PM #60

@BShark he made one last game

Nov 24, 2025 09:34 PM #61

Council is 27% career from three. Not great, but better than his 7% he's shooting this year so far.

Nov 24, 2025 09:34 PM #62

Finally

Nov 24, 2025 09:35 PM #63

Gotta keep shooting it LOL

Nov 24, 2025 09:41 PM #77

@BShark

At this point Bill does it on purpose. Yes let's literally put two guys in who can't do anything

Nov 24, 2025 09:43 PM #78

who is #6?

Nov 24, 2025 09:43 PM #79

@DanR

Calderon

Nov 24, 2025 09:44 PM #80

Must have been a good buffet at at halftime. Guys look like they need naps.

Nov 24, 2025 09:44 PM #81

Nov 24, 2025 09:45 PM #82

shooting % went down on that possession for ND

Nov 24, 2025 09:45 PM #83

Pathetic

Nov 24, 2025 09:48 PM #84

Tiller is big time

Nov 24, 2025 09:49 PM #85

Pretty nice by tiller after running up and down the court ten times

Nov 24, 2025 09:49 PM #86

Tiller was here last year for a semester and it has helped. He's gaining confidence

Nov 24, 2025 09:50 PM #87

Jamari wouldn't even start for Stephen F Austin

Nov 24, 2025 09:50 PM #88

Yeah he has blown away all the expectations I had for him

Nov 24, 2025 09:51 PM #89

Yeah Tiller has been a wonderful surprise

Nov 24, 2025 09:53 PM #90

Wow that's a terrible sequence. Throw it into a triple team then give them a 3 pt play For NOTHING

Nov 24, 2025 09:56 PM #91

Big time shot Tre

Nov 24, 2025 09:58 PM #92

Mari finally did something

Nov 24, 2025 09:59 PM #93

Nov 24, 2025 09:59 PM #94

dont stall, Bill good god

Nov 24, 2025 09:59 PM #95

Mari just needed more time to shine, guys.

Nov 24, 2025 09:59 PM #96

Slandered Jamari into doing something good

Nov 24, 2025 10:00 PM #97

Great shot Mari. Saved the game

Nov 24, 2025 10:00 PM #98

Bidunga, Tiller and White is a pretty solid frontĀ line. 49 pts and 25 boards amongĀ them.

Nov 24, 2025 10:10 PM #109

Tre must have gashed the bridge of his nose. Bleeding trough the bandage. That is going to hurt like a mofo later

Nov 24, 2025 10:10 PM #110

Soft touch Flory.

Nov 24, 2025 10:11 PM #111

I like ND coach. I'm happy with the W. Rock chalk!

Nov 24, 2025 10:11 PM #112

Flory 18/9/5/5 WOW

Nov 24, 2025 10:14 PM #113

I do not agree with you guys that Jamari is terrible. Is he "meh"? Yeah. But not terrible.

Nov 24, 2025 10:15 PM #114

Solid win but we got lucky that ND couldn’t throw it in the ocean

Nov 24, 2025 10:15 PM #115

As long as DP comes back healthy we may look back at this stretch as critical. Tre and Tiller have really come along and Melvin had to learn and grow being the primary handler.

Yeah I complain about Jamari and Elmarko but they have to play in these games. Bench gave us next to nothing. Didn't help that Dawson got hurt. Syracuse without their best player is a must win.

Nov 24, 2025 10:28 PM #120

Kohl wasn't even a factor.

Nov 24, 2025 10:28 PM #121

Wasn't able to watch. Just looking at the box score. Based on it, only real concern is absolutely nothing from Kohl - no points, no rebounds and three fouls in 19 minutes.

Nov 24, 2025 10:34 PM #122

Kohl will be a great player one day. I don't know when that day is coming. It could be in a couple weeks or it could be a couple years.

Kohl: 19 min, 1 missed 3, 1 asst and 3 fouls. Jeez.

Nov 24, 2025 10:50 PM #124

Players who showed out today: Flory (duh), Tiller, except he needs to stop shooting 3's even if the announcers try telling us he's good at shooting it from out there. Tre White is surprising me with his toughness. Council has some surprising athleticism. Even the underachieving 11 and 13 guys played decently I thought and made a 3 a piece and played some nice defense at times.

ND should have stopped shooting 3's. They weren't even close on most of those. They weren't a very good looking team to be honest, but it's always good to beat Notre Dame in any sport.

Nov 24, 2025 10:57 PM #125

Oh, and I should register my protest of playing a college game on a court that has the word bet on it. Gambling is eroding the integrity of sports and I hate to see it tempting 18 year olds who have bucketloads of money and presumably some free time during their time in Vegas.

Nov 24, 2025 11:03 PM #126

Im going to watch the replay now, fast forward through the ads and let yall know when im caught up

Nov 24, 2025 11:17 PM #127

@DCHawker

Didn't really do much. Self went to the bench in 2nd half

Nov 24, 2025 11:23 PM #128

When Bidunga went coast to coast for an and 1 after stuffing their guard it should have been a clear path foul on their guard

Nov 24, 2025 11:24 PM #129

@BShark

Bench saved their bacon in 2nd half.

I hear you on Notre Dame. I can't stand them.

Nov 24, 2025 11:30 PM #131

@BShark We drove over to South Bend recently and walked around campus. Beautiful place, but their athletic arrogance is 2nd to none, and really hasn't been earned in the last 30 years or so.

We got lazy and tired feeding the post or this was a 20 point win.

Really hope this stretch without DP is a net positive and forces some growth.

Good win though! Liked the energy.

Nov 25, 2025 12:17 AM #137

Awesome block by Jamari on Bird

Nov 25, 2025 12:26 AM #138

Cuse really hanging with Houston. That's worrisome for tomm

Nov 25, 2025 12:30 AM #139

Melvin, Tre, DP, Bryson, Flory…. Feeling like a strong ass five by seasons end right now.

Nov 25, 2025 12:50 AM #140

@BeddieKU23 I think Houston might just not be all that great from what I've seen of them a few times already this year..

Nov 25, 2025 12:51 AM #141

You plug in DP over Rosario and we are a problem for any team. We have been calling on Tre to be as good as he was last year and he is proving to be even better I mean a big guard who can score inside and get tough rebounds. We didn't know what we were going to get in Tiller but I don't think we expected a dominating paint player like this. Over the summer pundits said Flory would be one of the most improved centers this year but his stat line today was holy smokes. So Melvin Counsel Jr comes along and asserts himself today and shows his natural gifts are under control and flourishing. Our defense is pretty darn good also.

Nov 25, 2025 12:57 AM #142

Happy to see Flory all smiles and friendly, hugging Notre Dame players after the game. Kid is flying high right now.

Nov 25, 2025 12:58 AM #143

Watching Bill engage with this team in the huddle I think he is really into it and likes them. And the players are having some fun and believing in themselves.

Nov 25, 2025 01:08 AM #144

Hopefully we benefit from tired legs from Cuse going to OT. They look really tough

Nov 25, 2025 01:12 AM #145

@BShark I will say Jamari played hard nosed and fearless today.

Nov 25, 2025 01:30 AM #146

Houston is a great team. Some November struggles are nothing to sound alarms over

Nov 25, 2025 01:34 AM #147

Well the Big Twelve went 4-0 in the tourney today, Ku should benefit with all these dang rules in this tourney- As we won by the biggest separation-- --we won by Ten- - Baylor won by Seven----Iowa St won by one & Houston won by like Five.

So do I have this right, if your not one of the top four teams that has played then you play again Thursday ?

Keys to beating Syracuse tomorrow :- - -Take care of the ball---Syracuse presses most of the game- - -Gotta hit the boards -- -Got to defend the three, and hope that they just don't go white hot from the line, be our luck they won't miss period after that display today , Hope they shoot FT like they did today

Nov 25, 2025 01:37 AM #148

@BShark I don't think they are either. I mean they are good , but this is not last years team for sure

Very concerned with the zone. Expectations are low

Nov 25, 2025 01:42 AM #150

@Jhawk69 that was partially due to our defense

Nov 25, 2025 01:45 AM #151

Eight blocks today we are ranked 13 th in the Nation with block shots , think they said averaging 6.4 per game and we lead the big twelve in blocks

Nov 25, 2025 01:55 AM #152

Plus we had a lot of clean blocks against Duke that were incorrectly called as fouls

Nov 25, 2025 03:32 AM #153

@approxinfinity He played at LaLumiere right down the road from South Bend. I really should get over there and watch a game, but they charge like college prices to get in so i'll skip.

This tournament is getting ripped on social media. It's essentially killed Maui and the Bahamas thing. And while Vegas does have some good matchups the gyms are woefully uncrowded. In addition the tournament format is confusing, apparently point differential is a thing? A point differential in Vegas? Hmmm. Sounds like a kid or coach could be on the receiving end of some money....or death threats for helping or messing up someones bet.

Right an NIL tournament for money in Vegas with the point spread being the main focus. Doesn’t sound fishy at all. I miss the old days so much

Nov 25, 2025 01:32 PM #156

For those interested in Jayden Dawson.

"X-rays are still pending," Self said. "Apparently, he hurt it dunking in warmups, so it's his right wrist. So, I bet he's doubtful for the [Players Era Festival], but I do not know that for a fact. We look terrible. Notre Dame clearly wants it more

This is why I usually don't comment during games... especially KU. We like to start slow. Seems to be a Bill thing.

I kind of understand why. Maybe it's harder when you get out fast. Then you have to live up to the expectations for the rest of the game, and it always feels like your opponent is creeping up on you.

When you are down (only a reasonable amount), you have a definite goal and motivation.

PS: having one of those days! lol

@Kcmatt7 that’s the problem there’s no basketball fans in Vegas. Supposedly the b12 has an agreement to play a number of games each season in MSG and I’m like why? No fan base is even close to the NYC and in this economy who can afford to go watch a game there? At one point they were talking about the conference tournament there. KC is the perfect spot and always has been. OKC and Dallas the place was empty 90% of the time.

Nov 25, 2025 07:05 PM #161

Vegas has been dead for over a year!

Nov 25, 2025 07:20 PM #162

I tell ya, that Duke game last year in Vegas was jam packed!

But yesterday's crowd was minimal for sure. I think people have the time, money and energy to see their teams play one big game in Vegas, but asking them to shell out three or four days and big bucks may be too much to ask.

That being said, i've done that for Maui a few times. Aloha!

Nov 25, 2025 07:57 PM #163

Jamari is starting today

Nov 25, 2025 08:03 PM #164

Signing off!

Nov 25, 2025 08:06 PM #165

Ugly game shaping up. Both teams hold opponents below 40% and 30% shooting percentage. A slow start and trying to play catch up against teams like these makes keeping it close sounds wise.

Nov 25, 2025 08:19 PM #166

Flory's game has improved so much.

Nov 25, 2025 08:20 PM #167

Shut up Robbie, it was right over the top of the goal.

Nov 25, 2025 08:22 PM #168

Jamari already in ? Wow. And draining 3s. Double wow

Nov 25, 2025 08:22 PM #169

I'm still pissed we lost to these guys with Collison and Heinrich and Lee and langford and Miles and so many others.

Nov 25, 2025 08:23 PM #170

Our only points are from inbound plays or offensive rebounds. Yikes.

Nov 25, 2025 08:24 PM #171

@approxinfinity I think he started. It seems like the lightbulb is going on for him which if there's any time for it it's now because he's not on the floor if DP is healthy.

Nov 25, 2025 08:27 PM #173

Nov 25, 2025 08:27 PM #174

Bindunga Bucks. Money.

Nov 25, 2025 08:28 PM #175

@rockchalkjayhawk I was at the Duke game last year, it felt like a tournament atmosphere inside the arena. I also went to a session of the Player's Era last year because ticket prices were relatively cheap.

I had a chance to get presale tickets this year because of going to the Duke game last year and didn't. Last year I flew out on Sunday and flew home on Wednesday and was able to get heavily discounted room with my Caesar's Rewards point and only had to lay the resort fees.

Because of the schedule this year, I would've had to fly out on Sunday and fly home Friday this year to make all 3 games because of not knowing when game 3 would take place. I don't think a lot of people want to spend their Thanksgiving in Vegas. I didn't have the points to get a comped room so I would've had to pay for 5 nights this year. If you haven't been to Vegas recently, everything on the Strip has become extremely expensive. It would've cost me about triple what I spent last year to go and with Notre Dame and Syracuse being underwhelming opponents, I couldn't justify it this year.

Nov 25, 2025 08:28 PM #176

Tre White reminds me those tough Illinois guards Self abandoned when he came to KU. Its probably the corn rows.

Nov 25, 2025 08:29 PM #177

Flory is a DUDE

Nov 25, 2025 08:31 PM #178

@approxinfinity Derron Williams was a stud. If White plays that well we're gonna cook this season! Dee Brown was a great guard too.

If Self had stayed at Illinois he'd have recruited the heck out of Illinois like he was doing then. I think he'd have multiple championships and maybe we'd have less. No way Sherron's coming to KU if Self had stayed in Champagn.

Nov 25, 2025 08:32 PM #179

Score? At school

Nov 25, 2025 08:32 PM #180

@Crimsonorblue22 16-10 good guys.

Nov 25, 2025 08:54 PM #210

Flory stay in your lane!

Nov 25, 2025 08:54 PM #211

Nov 25, 2025 09:02 PM #224

@wissox gave him his props

Nov 25, 2025 09:02 PM #225

Finally caught up. VERY pleased thus far. 7 bench points this half a nice surprise.

Nov 25, 2025 09:02 PM #226

Two 0 second on the shot clock threes is so funny

Nov 25, 2025 09:03 PM #227

I'm outraged that as physical as Syracuse is they're not over the limit on fouls.

Nov 25, 2025 09:06 PM #228

Cuse having to play OT later than us yesterday is going to be a factor 2nd half and the physicality of Houston too on them.

Nov 25, 2025 09:06 PM #229

We're killing them on the boards 26-11, but we have 7 turnovers and they have 0 along with 9 points off of KU TOs.

So... pretty much the score you'd expect. I think Mari has done decent enough

Nov 25, 2025 09:08 PM #230

The good, Flory near a double double already. The bad he has 4 turnovers because he became a really tall guard the last half of the half.

The good. Tiller 4-6.

The good, i mean the bad. Council 0-7, has taken the most shots amongst anyone. Sometimes that's a misleading stat but today he's earned that halo by missing shots at the rim.

The goodish Jamari is figuring it out. The bad, El Marko isn't.

The great: 26 rebounds to 11 for them.

Nov 25, 2025 09:09 PM #231

The really bad: We're not getting to see this develop with DP.

Nov 25, 2025 09:22 PM #232

More White and Flory, less Council is what I'd council.

Elmarko that's why it says 4 under minutes played by your name.

I've seen enough Elmarko for a lifetime

Nov 25, 2025 09:37 PM #249

Nov 25, 2025 09:39 PM #253

Nov 25, 2025 09:40 PM #254

Elmarko has commited 6 or 7 fouls though, and the refs are letting those slide, so we're even.

Nov 25, 2025 09:42 PM #257

Odd game. We're not forcing any TOs, but committing bad ones. If we took better care of the ball, we could be up close to 20. On the other hand, Cuse is getting into the lane pretty easily, but missing shots, are we are not letting them get many second chances...

Nov 25, 2025 09:46 PM #258

That was a foul?

Nov 25, 2025 09:47 PM #259

Nov 25, 2025 09:50 PM #264

Who you rooting for Cougars or Vols?

Nov 25, 2025 10:40 PM #332

I hate how it’s not a true tournament and we could miss out from the title game by only winning both games by double digits lol

Nov 25, 2025 10:42 PM #333

Nice to see Jamari doing well with some extended run time. Seems to be a real Jayhawk. Took a redshirt year knowing he will likely always be recruited over. Bet he’ll be Kohl’s loudest supporter when Kohl regains the starting lineup. Don’t see much of that in this NIL era.

Nov 25, 2025 10:48 PM #334

Jamari>Elmarko by a wide margin at this point.

Two teams ND and Cuse kept coming at us over and over and they'd get it to five or seven but we fought them off with a team that has only played a few games together. Impressive. These types of games probably will pay dividends. Flory what the heck you are playing like a top AA and turn it over seven times.

30+ DP minutes to distribute and Elmarko gets only 8. Speaks volumes at this point...

Nov 25, 2025 10:55 PM #338

Vols and we handled Syracuse better than Houston.

Nov 25, 2025 10:56 PM #339

Yep, not close. Would much rather see Jamari out there. Once Darryn and JD are healthy we could ideally see Elmarko not play...

Tre White Highlights vs. Syracuse (15 Pts, 10 Rebs, 3 Asts)

Nov 25, 2025 11:45 PM #342

Tiller makes a ton of difference for Flory as teams cannot fudge because Tiller requires a lot of attention. Tre White's size advantage when he gets to the rim is score or foul him and fouling him is a bad idea and he can bang and board and will do that. Melvin is going to start hitting threes better than now. Plus he plays hard and unselfishly. Tiller can be a 20 and 10 guy can he not? What will we be with DP? Damn good that's what. Chemistry is evident. Who of these has made the most difference? Doesn't matter.

Nov 25, 2025 11:50 PM #343

@Zabudda does not matter at all. Hope the bench doesnt get complacent and stays sharp. Steel sharpens steel.

Nov 25, 2025 11:51 PM #344

@approxinfinity Tre White was someone KU recruited out of high school and I believe committed to KU at one point before going his odyssey. With Council, KU was initially looking at a different player at St. Bonnie's, but ended up loving Council more.

I don't care about the championship here, I want KU to play a good team because Notre Dame and Syracuse are unlikely to make the NCAA Tournament. I'd much rather see KU play Michigan, Gonzaga, or Auburn to close it out and get another game against a really good team to help Flory and Tiller play without fouling.

Correct he committed to KU very early on in high school and it didn't stick.

The staff received a recommendation on Lajae Jones (ended up at FSU, KU passed) and Council really stood out when they watched. I do actually know the guy that passed along with Lajae rec, not sure if I'd say friend but we are cordial with each other.

The portal has been a positive this time I'd say. Two very good players and there is still a chance with JD. His wrist/hand injury was really unfortunate as I felt he was coming along a bit.

While Flory did have 7 turnovers, he only had 2 fouls. I'll take that trade. Keeps himĀ onĀ theĀ floor.

14 rebounds is pretty good too.

For sure this tournament means very little in the big picture but as Self would say ā€œWe gotta play so we may as well winā€

Nov 26, 2025 12:44 AM #354

@BeddieKU23 Yes he is , he really has done more then I expected, didn't think h would be that much of aa scorer. I love the way he takes the ball to the hole, and plays through contact- --really scraps for rebounds just complete player, has become one of my favorite players

Nov 26, 2025 01:01 AM #355

I’ll take beating a power 4 team by double digits down a starter all day on a neutral floor. Thats the thing with this group, they are improving and haven’t came close to their ceiling. Last two years we were who we were in November so we beat teams like UConn and Duke with experience over 18 and 19 year olds. But we never got any better, Hunt couldn’t guard anyone, Juan refused to shoot and we had no threat from 3 point land. This years team would spank and the last two teams by 20 plus prob right now but without question by seasons end. Nice to actually enjoy watching KU basketball.

Nov 26, 2025 01:39 AM #356

Thought they were gonna keep conference teams apart? Could it be tennesse?

Nov 26, 2025 01:46 AM #357

@Crimsonorblue22 don’t think it can be Houston with them losing

Nov 26, 2025 02:01 AM #358

I think there is an outside chance we could play ISU, Baylor and Houston with loses won’t be in the top 2

Nov 26, 2025 02:04 AM #359

I think it’s the 2-0 teams plus points

Nov 26, 2025 02:06 AM #360

Michigan zags win?

Nov 26, 2025 02:13 AM #361

Michigan probably gonna be top, 28 pts ahead at half

Nov 26, 2025 02:19 AM #362

Right now I believe it would be Michigan #1 and us 2 from what I’m seeing not sure tho

Nov 26, 2025 02:27 AM #363

Okay looking at an update looks like it’s most likely Gonzaga vs Michigan for the title and us versus Tennessee for third unless something crazy happens.

Nov 26, 2025 03:51 AM #364

we've played Tennessee in Maui, Atlantis and now probably Vegas all within the last 5 years

Nov 26, 2025 03:52 AM #365

@rcjhdraft seems like they have kicked our butts a lot of memory serves me right

Nov 26, 2025 03:53 AM #366

@kjayhawks yeah we've lost to them both times. Third time's the charm?

Nov 26, 2025 04:03 AM #367

Zags are ahead of us in pts. Their game isn’t over.

Nov 26, 2025 06:14 AM #368

So we play Tennessee next? Confusing. Oh, and AI sucks. I’ve seen like three different, opposing summaries of who is in the championship game. Weird.

Nov 26, 2025 12:54 PM #369

Fans of other teams and journalists getting mad when everyone knew the rules beforehand is very stupid. Teams were leaving in their starters late BECAUSE margin mattered...

Nov 26, 2025 02:38 PM #371

I don't care whether we are in the "championship game" or not. I just want us to win.

Nov 26, 2025 02:45 PM #372

Agreed, and don't get why fans/journalists are getting mad about the rules now. Maybe casual fans hear that a team was crowned the players era champ and that carries some marketing weight, but that is going to be a small set of people. Difference between the teams that go 3-0 really doesn't mean anything in the long run. I was also under the impression that the current players are the ones that miss out on the prize money, so not like this goes into NIL budget for you to recruit for next year.

I would understand if the players missing out on money are a little upset about though.

Nov 26, 2025 02:50 PM #373

Money!

Nov 26, 2025 03:20 PM #374

@kjayhawks Selective memory! We actually played them in Hawaii I think in the Maui two seasons ago. It says Honolulu, but I think that was after the fires. We beat them by nine. The two previous meetings were ugly, but we're 5-3 in the series this century. That's a lot of meetings for a team that's not in our conference but we can expect another tough one today and wouldn't be surprised to see us lose nor would I be surprised to see us win.

Nov 26, 2025 03:33 PM #375

Rothstein tweeted out the schedule for today and it showed KU game at 4. Everywhere else is saying 6 including KUathletics. Just highlights the confusion of this weird event.

Nov 26, 2025 03:36 PM #376

those rothstein times are mountain time zone

Nov 26, 2025 03:40 PM #377

@rcjhdraft No, then it would say 5 oclock.

Looks like they have beaten us 2 of the last 3 and I think I’m remembering them destroying us in Knoxville a few years ago.

ISU fans are losing their minds on X right now. I personally don’t like the format even a little bit it’s ridiculously confusing. But as you said everyone agreed to it coming in. I be fine with never playing in this again but with the money up for grabs, I’d bet we are there a lot in the coming years.

Nov 26, 2025 04:18 PM #380

Houston was ranked 3, they should have won. I like it, this yr! Great money!

Nov 26, 2025 04:32 PM #381

Edit: Omg, I’ve seen three different starting times!

Ignore this for now!

Looks like a 2 pm start in Lawrence time vs Tennessee.

Nov 26, 2025 04:50 PM #382

From the Players Era website on game time:

Third place: No. 17 Tennessee vs. Kansas, 7 p.m. Eastern time | TNT

Nov 26, 2025 04:54 PM #383

I might be in the minority here, but I don't really care whether our players get a little richer or not. Hell, if anything them winning less money may make them hungrier to win in March when you can really make a killing off of NIL.

Nov 26, 2025 05:06 PM #384

I assume it goes to our program. TV guide says 6

Nov 26, 2025 05:41 PM #385

Poor Syracuse. The Big XII invited them to Thanksgiving dinner and they got feasted on. If you are on the Kansas roster but not currently in the rotation there is still room for you. Say hay Samis we can use a super athletic 6'8" wing who plays above the rim.

Nov 26, 2025 07:55 PM #389

@kjayhawks You nailed it

Nov 26, 2025 08:13 PM #390

When was the last game we were +20 in rebounds. Nice job. We have played seven games and Tiller is already an impact player. Is there anyway he doesn't remain a starter? We can see how he handles a physical game against a Rick Barnes led team.

Nov 26, 2025 08:24 PM #391

Two guys that concern me with Tennessee one --- Gillispie just really good,

& even bigger then him is worried about their big boy his girth pretty solid afraid he might just play bully ball and either one will give Bryson or Flory fits and get them in foul trouble, can' match his physicality

Nov 26, 2025 08:25 PM #392

@Zabudda Yes, Tiller will remain a starter and it will likely be Rosario/McDowell coming off the bench whenever Peterson returns (hopefully against UConn).

Nov 26, 2025 08:39 PM #393

@Texas-Hawk-10 how do they use the money? It's not split between players?

Nov 26, 2025 09:31 PM #394

@SlimShaddy54 Ament is a 6'11" 207 freshman top recruit who had a lousy shooting game against Houston. He can score board and pass. Their roster is loaded with two more 6'11" 245 bruisers who score and board. Barnes said in the off season they would focus on getting an inside game and they did. They got their scoring down low against Houston while avenging last years loss. They have a big guard lock down defender in 6'4" Boswell. They are a much different team than Syracuse and shoot shoot FG's at 50% and 36% from three. We will learn a lot about Tiller and Flory and must make our shots better than we have been. If we can score over 35 in both halves we can keep it close and 80 would make me hopeful. An early season chance to prove we belong.
