A follow up

"He added Remy needs to figure it out, and that Self has certain expectations for Remy.

They do not want him to volume shoot. They want him to run an offense."

@BShark

Really isn't going to let it go

He probably should have just pulled up awhile ago but I am 99% sure I heard the exact same rumor he did (I didn't put it out publicly lol) and there was something to it.

Cliff notes here on linked tweets for those that don't twitter

Remy is "adjusting, wants to win". NBA feedback was centered around actually running a structured offense and guarding, hence coming to KU instead of staying in Tempe. Dad felt he should have played against WVU. Knee good to go.

@BShark Bobby get hurt again?

Judging by how he looked when he tried to play, I don't think he ever fully recovered.

They definitely miss him. They have looked no good this half against the giants in the lane

Both these teams are super good tbh. Both top 5.

@BShark I am worried Bill goes away from the 4-1 next season. Despite his most recent best teams all playing 4-1. Of course he’ll probably make a FF run going back to the hi-low just to flip us all the bird lol

I'm not worried. In that...it will happen. At a minimum he is going to try it.

Never too early starting 5 for 2022-23 β€’ Jan 22, 2022 02:58 PM

I can confirm that KJ practices predominantly at the 4.

ETA: I would also expect CB and JWill to start if they are back. This subject came up on the phog recently and some people were floating line-ups that could not score at all. You do need some scoring punch so you can't run out a starting 5 that involves Harris, KJ and Udeh for example.

@BeddieKU23 Fairly confident in Dave being gone.

I could easily see...

Dajuan, Bobby, CB, Gradey, pick a big.

If JWill could be convinced back, slot him into that line-up over Bobby or possibly Gradey. The post situation I have no idea. All the candidates will be guys that played 0 minutes this season or close enough to it.

70s is comedy for him. Think he contributes next year. Gonna be a war for post minutes.

Some Post OU Musings β€’ Jan 19, 2022 02:29 AM

I bag on Remy but he can be better than this. Idk if it's still just a playing through pain thing or what but clearly he didn't have it tonight. I do wonder if he even plays tonight if not for the HEARINGS :trade_mark: probably not is my guess. I still think a healthy Remy does help this team.

This team struggles to get easy baskets is I think the biggest thing with the hot/cold stuff. They had that 2 pts in 8 minutes stretch and still had 33 in the half due to 19 in 6 and a half minutes to end the game.

Speaking of which, closers close which CB and Och certainly did tonight. Thankfully it appears Och's wrist is okay.

Thank goodness JWill had his come to Jesus moment and got out of his own head. Dreadful to think where we would be in league play if he wasn't playing so well. The thought process has been he would be gone after this year but honestly if MJ Rice isn't going to show up I'd try to recruit him back. A lot of his mental struggles and other things that happened were as I understand it because he was sad about his NBA feedback (basically: you aren't an NBA player) and wouldn't it be something if he decided to ride it out in Lawrence.

JCL...yikes... Like I said in the game thread there is a reason he hasn't been on a winning team until now. Brutal stretch that led to the first OU run when Och was out.

Dave was fine tonight by and large, especially considering it was a tough match-up for him defensively.

Mitch has actually become...somewhat playable on offense. Still can't defend a lick one on one in the post though.

@Jethro said in BOOMER Game Thread:

@jayballer67 He had 3 shots where the ball was in the rim, and it just bounced out. He lacks the quickness to get around people, and his small frame makes him a target to be posted by bigger guards. He is fine as a distributor, but as a main focal point of the offense, he certainly isn't ready and might not ever be ready.

I don't think he is ever going to really be able to put on muscle. Just hoping Bobby comes along a bit for next season and we get another guard preferably from the portal I don't think there are guys we can get from the HS ranks that move the needle at this point.

Dejuan was overexposed in this game. Got posted up, made numerous errors trying to drive the ball, and his shot just would not fall.

Shot too much is my main complaint. OU dared him to do so, rightly so.
