@BShark He jogged off the field...
It looked so bad live. My heart lurched.
And yes I am watching both games at once.
Mahomes is hurt. Doesn't look good at all. @Crimsonorblue22 @KirkIsMyHinrich
What in the world is that call

Flop city again
Sad.

So who else is red shifting? A water boy. Its unreal this kid can play like this
Ochai, Braun, McBride is gonna be a filthy back court two years from now.
BANG BANG

Lol dotosn
Yikes. Gotta be better than that.
That seemed very random. Also I am behind on stream, what happened? This team will sink w/o Marcus.
DanR said:
Grimes D is non existent on those threes
Exactly. I'd bench him.
BeddieKU23 said:
We have 20% three point shooters but they miss em.
Lol no kidding.

Ummm can Lawson hang with atheltic bigs?
Generally no. He's crafty tho.
Jared Butler, 22% 3pt shooter, is now 3-4. Par for the course.
Get Q out of the game GOOD LORD.
looooooooool
Now KU can't make a shot at all.
CHUCK

like that zone...so does OA
So does Bill. Carves it up big time.

I predict if Baylor doesn't make a shot that we will win.
Bold
BayLOL still rocking a solid 0% from the field.
BeddieKU23 said:
Quick recap, we should be up 20
I mean probably not. This KU team just isn't great at offense. This team is going to have to grit out games on D.
Cancel FSU Duke. Good lord.
Sooo Baylor can't score.
More timeouts YAY
@KirkIsMyHinrich @DCHawker @approxinfinity Injured hymen, got it.
Crimsonorblue22 said:
Nice block though guess we got 4 blocks
No reason this team can't play really good D now.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Zion hurt?
If anything costs KU today it will be rebounding YIKES.
Not surprised KU Baylol is very defensive so far.
Crimsonorblue22 said:
They r out boarding us
Yeah, that seems pretty likely.

"Gotta knock down some threes"
I mean, has this guy seen how Self just carves up Drew's turkey zone?
I think Jesse wrote that they had played M2M about 2/3rds of the time and zone 1/3rd this year.
Hmm, maybe Scotty boy is learning. I watch ZERO BayLOL outside of the KU games.

@BShark sorry I crowded into your lane...but didn't know who'd show up today.
All good, this title is solid. I probably would have had a snarky remark about Drew, but I'll just have that for the 2nd BayLOL game.
ISU loss just continues to look awful.
Premium title.
I'm watching this over the start of the Chiefs game. I'll get to the Chiefs game in plenty of time to see them lose to the Colts.

Any shot here realistically?
Haven't payed much attention to him as I assumed he was Duke's..
I don't think he even knows which sport he will play yet. I haven't been following super closely either.
KU will likely need a big class in 2020. Hopefully it is a bounceback class.
Dotson, Garrett, Grimes, Agbaji, KJ, Vick, Dedric, Mitch or Dave depending on match-up. This would be my 8 player rotation.

I think Grimes issue is his size. Dude is 6'5 and THICK. I think his entire life he bullied his way around the court when he wasnt faster. Now he has guys that are all as fast or faster guarding him and smart enough to take charges on him. He has to develop counter moves. A pull up mid range would do wonders. Also actually being a threat at 3s would give him the space he needs.
You are right. Also Grimes is Selden. This could literally have been written about Selden. I would love to have Grimes for 3 years too...

Side note: Cunliffe, Anrio etc...were not good HS players. Also Cunliffe was a transfer obviously, and I'd love to get away from transfers for the most part.
Odd fact, Cunliffe and Adams both graduated from the same high school (Rainier Beach in Seattle). CJ Giles and Roderick Stewart also went to that school.
Given those names, its no surprise that Rainier Beach is a perennial state power in Washington, winning or playing for the state title just about every season.
Looking first at Adams, he led the state of Washington in scoring as a sophomore, junior and senior. He led two different schools to state titles while in high school. Averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game as a senior. That's a darn good player.
Cunliffe averaged 21/9/3 as a senior, and 20/5/5 as a junior. He was the state tournament MVP as a senior when he led Rainier Beach to the title. Darn good high school player.
You don't get recruited to a P5 school (any P5 school, not just Kansas) if you were not a stud in high school. P5 bench guys were all state picks in high school.
Take Garrett Luinstra, a current walkon at KU. He went to Lawrence Free State. All he did in high school was toss in 19 points per game and set a school record for points in a season.
Chris Teahan was an all district player at Rockhurst as a junior and senior.
Those two guys were darn good HS players.
If you were an average or below high school player, you might have a chance to walk on at a D2 or NAIA school, but if you are at a P5 school, you were a stud in high school without a doubt, and likely one of the better players in your state as a senior.
Fair points. I will mention though that guys that change high schools a bunch have a giant warning sign on them. Cunliffe and Adams both moved around a bunch. Billy Preston did as well.
Also it goes against Self's instincts clearly but KJ should play more. If you look at all the stats, he's one of the best 5 players on this team.
Chuck and Dave have been disasters, but I think Dave could get a lot better with pt as he simply needs to calm down and learn to pass back out.
The stats pretty much all make sense with this team. They say Dedric is great, Doke was really good, KJ and Devon are really good, Vick is good*, Mitch and Garrett are good, Grimes and Moore are awful...
*the issue with this is Vick has been amazing and terrible, it has simply balanced out.

With this poor shooting team, we sure could use a Withey or a TRob.
One nice benefit of Agbaji's addition -- Charlie Moore 4 minutes, he of the 7.3 PER. That appears to be the squeeze. That makes us better than without Agbagi.
I get the match up thing, but David McCormack, one minute? We are really going to play Mitch Lightfoot over a McDonald's all-American? Seriously, who will be better in March with quality minutes. The fact is if we play McCormack, he will improve AND it's unlikely that Mitch will get worse.
Worth watching, because it might be critical to our tourney survival. It's guarding against Dedric in foul trouble. Mitch and guards vs. McCormack and guards? Certain teams will destroy the former.
Absolutely. Moore has been atrocious.
I want to see much more of Dave too, as has been noted.
@drgnslayr The problem with Mitch is he is a non-factor on offense. He played 10 minutes and took 1 shot.
Agbaji is another case file for not overreacting to Self signing lower ranked guys early. Not super early, that's been pretty bad actually. This is why I'm not going to freak out about Self taking guys that are good HS players in their SR year. It also helps when the move isn't out of desperation. Which Ochai was clearly not initially, as the plan was to RS him. So I'm not worried at all about McBride or Braun, I expect they will be damn good players for KU before they are done.
Side note: Cunliffe, Anrio etc...were not good HS players. Also Cunliffe was a transfer obviously, and I'd love to get away from transfers for the most part.
@HighEliteMajor Embiid definitely wasn't a scrub, but by the end before his injury he was worlds better than the start of the year.
Crimsonorblue22 said:
I said it before, but self said last night they knew Ochai was good, but he had never seen anyone improve like he has from the beginning of the year til now.
Embiid would like a word. But yes it is impressive.
It's too bad recruiting rankings are the be all end all and Ochai wasn't in the top 100.
Per Scott Chasen, Dotson is getting over being sick, so that would help explain last night's performance from him.
@kjayhawks Also I'd love to see most of this core of guards stay and develop...but it's 2019...
Loyola made the FF. This KU team could lose the first weekend or make the FF and I wouldn't be super shocked. Definitely would be surprised at a FF though...
