“Coach Self really compared me to him in a way,” McBride said. “Similar stories and how they found Frank Mason in Las Vegas also, in the same gym in Las Vegas. He said if I was to come to (KU) he would push me so I could have some of the same success that Frank Mason had.”
Asked Monday to describe his game, the 4-star guard who considers himself a combo guard and is comfortable playing the 1 and the 2 said: “Focused and determined. That’s pretty much my game there summed. I feel like I can do it all.”
His high school coach, Baptist Prep’s Steve Miller, echoed those thoughts.
“Issac is just a coach’s dream,” Miller said. “This is the kind of young man you get to coach maybe once or twice in your career. On the basketball floor, he can do it all. We want the ball in his hands, but he’s very unselfish and likes to get his teammates involved.”
This kid is @KUSTEVE dream.
McBride said the three main factors that led him to pick KU were that family atmosphere, his development as a player under KU coach Bill Self, whom he called as good a basketball mind as any coach out there, and KU’s strong academics.
"I feel like Kansas was the team that just stepped up there and realized and recognized and saw the talent in me," McBride told Phog.net. "When they offered everybody else starting coming in. And that was a big part for me. A big thing for me is loyalty and respect for people, and I feel like Kansas has shown me that. And they’ve done it by example as in offering me and not knowing a lot about me, but trusting the eye test and doing character checks and stuff like that."
"It was an honor, but I was really happy to see that someone had finally recognized and then other people came in," McBride said. "So Kansas set the bar. I just feel like once you commit to schools, and stuff like that, you want to make sure that you’re going to be 110 percent committed and not wave back and forth."
McBride called Allen Fieldhouse "the Mecca of basketball," and noted it even exceeded his own expectations.

It's official. 4-star PG Issac McBride commits to #KUbball Nice pick up for Kansas.
McBride says KU checks all the boxes & he appreciates the genuine nature and family atmosphere of the program.

51/45/80 shooting splits. Ridiculous.
McBride to KU is now official.
@FarmerJayhawk Silvio, JRE, McCormack, Nnaji, Lightfoot is a SALTY group.
I'd take Zeke in a second if he wants to commit, sort out the rest later. Very good shooter for a center.
Self has a bit of thing for tough combo guards that can shoot it.
From what McBride has said recently it sounds like KU was the first school to actually get serious about recruiting him. That kind of thing goes a long way.
@BeddieKU23 :joy:
Kid can really shoot it. Kinda reminds me of Graham.
THIS IS JUST FOR FUN
McBride committing today at 5pm. GUESS WHERE.

Yeah Zeke coming back for an official this weekend is big big news. Even Zona's guy is saying "we'll see after KU"
As in he feels Zeke could just commit after that visit? UK people are screeching Adidas over this lol.
@BeddieKU23 Yep. The Wisconsin people were the first to have Agbaji to KU if memory serves. They seem pretty tied in.
@kjayhawks strongly disagree. RR has some coaching chops. Weis did not.
@Kcmatt7 Agree. If SEC nepotism can keep Muschamp employed...
@KUSTEVE Ah okay. Disagree but understand where you are coming from on it.
@Woodrow I think if we see Zeke pop for KU, it's a fairly clear signal that Silvio is leaving. Jmo.
In terms of KU's major targets and timelines
McBride - should announce for KU within the week.
JRE - Fall signing.
Nnaji - very likely to announce in the fall, but might not be in time so sign in early November
Stanley - should be a fall decision and signing
Hurt - likely dragging out until spring.
@Woodrow Pretty sure KU would take all three if they could pull it off.
@BeddieKU23 I'd make fun of Duke fans but KU's 2017 recruiting is still pretty fresh...
@Kcmatt7 This is very good fan fiction. I like it. :joy:

@BShark Pass. I want that kid that is thrilled to be at KU, not a guy who is just putting in his time.
So I'm not sure which player you are referring to here. Nnaji?
Was Silvio not worth it if he leaves after this year without ever starting?
@KUSTEVE what?
@JayHawkFanToo Eh, there could be overlap for one year. Zeke is not really a OAD type. It would be absolutely huge for the women's program if they got her. Hopefully the lady hawks can make the NCAAT this year and get some good momentum going.
@BeddieKU23 Yep. For those that don't know, 247 basically only does that when a kid has committed. Doesn't even always get out like that beforehand of course.
When KU struck out with Jones and a couple other big guy recruitments I was wondering if KU was in deeper with someone than we thought. I don't think he is a kid that is all that ready to make huge contributions as a FR but he could be in the rotation and is a guy that could develop very nicely. 6'11'' with a solid mid-range jump shot and is solid near the basket too. Runs very well for his size.

Good recruting tactic on KU's part::stuck_out_tongue:
She would be a great get for the women's team tbh.
Also RE Zeke someone on the phog linked this tweet, from a Minnesota guy: 🐦 View Tweet
Thinks KU and Arizona are and have been the leaders in this recruitment.

Arizona offers sister of Zeke.
Lol. KU did the same.
Yep, it would be incredibly dumb. But there is plenty of precedent for delusional fanbases driving the firing of a very successful coach at the college level.
@FarmerJayhawk sounds like Auburn fans are approaching LSU fan level stupidity. Holy shit would I take Malzahn in a second.
@FarmerJayhawk Looked like there was a ton of momentum for UK and now they are surprisingly out. Very interesting for sure. He's pretty damn big and runs very well for his size from what I've seen. Offensive game is very solid. Overall probably needs additional development but will be a good to great college player in time. I'd love to see him at KU...

Looks like Zeke Nnaji is going to cut his list to 5 tomorrow. He was here this weekend.
KU made his top 5, Kentucky did not.
RIP Earl Thomas's leg

Very solid pick-up for Bruce.

@jayballer73 With Stanley, it's purely a business decision. His dad is a millionaire agent or something like that. This is all about who they feel gives him the best chance to showcase for the NBA for one year based on what I have read.
Stanley's visit seems to have went extremely well.
@kjayhawks It's almost like the KU coaching staff isn't good.
Don't mind me, I'll just be dumping things here.
You really believe him? His acting was so poor. His insectile bits were poking out from his flesh suit. Ford kept her composure while he cried, screamed and rambled about the Clintons. But I digress...this particular insect is unimportant.
That is really what this has been turned into, you are right. It's all a show that both parties are using to further an agenda at this point.
The Democrats claim they want everyone to believe all women, but there will never be a criminal trial pursued. Ultimately, there will be Democrats confirming Kavanaugh*. This whole thing is like the police investigating police brutality and corruption. WE INVESTIGATED OURSELVES AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. CARRY ON. Maybe the goal is to trot out just how corrupt the American government system really is. Increase the number one electoral party: non-voters due to apathy.
*It's pro wrestling. Entertainment for the masses with nothing actually on the line because again Kavanaugh is completely replaceable. Another key aspect of pro wrestling is that everyone is employed by the same guy. Which is why I fully expect Kavanaugh to be confirmed anyway, including lots of confirmations from Democrats. They don't really want him out. Neither side seemed interested in an actual investigation into Kavanaugh. Or they could have pushed the hearing back. Again, dog and pony show entertainment.
Whoever Trump puts there at the end of the day will adhere to a specific agenda. It was even a campaign promise, basically. I mean, good lord, Gorsuch stole a seat in broad daylight. Long live the plutocracy.
I am interested in justice, and a fair Supreme Court. But I also realize it's impossible. I'm not THAT naive. Anything attempting true reform in regards to money and corruption will be shot down in seconds. Nothing brings Democrats and Republicans together faster.
I channeled my inner jb with this post. Who knew I had it in me?
