Also I would 100% take Silvio staying instead of adding a 5* big. I love Silvio.

Well I won't be mad adding a developmental PG. Perfect time to add one if we don't think Dotson is going to be here 4 years.

There is almost no chance Dotson is a 4 year guy.

Scenario: open scholarship, Vick graduates, Dedric, Grimes, Doke and Silvio all leave early.

Dream class: Braun, McBride, Stanley, Chandler, JRE, Hurt.

And feel free to sub Kai Jones for JRE or Hurt.

McBride, Braun and Stanley is a nice group for the perimeter. Stanley comes in and starts at the 2G replacing Grimes while McBride and Braun don't mess up the minutes for incumbent playes and can take time to develop. I really really like McBride assuming he keeps developing.

@BeddieKU23 Assuming KU wants him yep. Tenn has 2 Seniors, an open scholarship and 3 commitments.

“I think one thing Coach Self really liked … he told him (Braun) about other players he’s going to get. Christian said, ‘Great, we want to have a good team.’ He’s not worried about the competition, not afraid of competition and I think coach Self likes that,” Fritz added.

Gotta love Self's confidence.

Tigerboard took Braun going to KU very hard. Woof. Even some good old Brandon Rush hate got dredged up.

Missouri wasn't even in the picture. KSU would have been his destination if KU didn't offer. OU was probably his third choice. Missouri was maybe...5th?

Interesting take for Oklahoma St getting Avery Anderson the 3rd. They currently don't have any open scholarships but that always works itself out.

Texas Tech trending for 4 star guard Top 40 Jahmius Ramsey. Playing at Oak Hill this season. Chris Beard parlaying the Evans/Smith/Culver success into recruiting!

Yeah, someone will get cut loose, their roster isn't exactly stacked.

As for Ramsey he would be a huge addition for the overall talent of the league. I thought he wasn't deciding until late but things change and it's not like I was following his recruitment that closely since KU isn't involved.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 18, 2018 07:59 PM

@FarmerJayhawk Yeah and I gave you crap for it too lol. Seems like it's KU or Oregon. It would be quite the friggin coup.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 05:02 PM

@KUSTEVE Yeah Dedric is a special talent. Really understands the game too, great natural feel, a basketball lifer.

UEFA Champions League is back!!! Some real hot match-ups too.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 04:21 PM

Dedric is the kind of player that warps the court and most opposing teams will have no good answer for defensively. He will score himself and create offense for everybody else because he is such a threat on offense.

You guys sure seem sold on Dedric. I'm not ready to predict him as b12 player of the year before seeing him play at least one game.

If he really is as dominant as Lafrentz, Gooden, Collison, Simien, Marcus and TRob I'll be very pleasantly surprised.

Hopefully he does live up to the billing because the plan is 100% to run the offense through him. Showcase type of talent and basketball ability.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 18, 2018 02:39 PM

@jayballer73 Simmer my friend, simmer. I like his game but Sam would have maybe played 10 minutes a game next year and possibly struggled to ever start because he is very passive as a player. Which generally is not a trait that finds success under Self. Seems to me like the staff pivoted and quit recruiting him as hard. Just because a kid has strong KU ties doesn't make them an automatic take. Bossi was mentioning the other day that KU put themselves more or less out of the picture in Sam's recruitment.

@justanotherfan Silvio is like a rebounding vortex. Just pulls in basketballs.

@BeddieKU23 I agree pretty much with what you have predicted , like you say a lot of mouths - -however I think Silvio might be a little more productively ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I lowballed Silvio until we know for sure he's playing and if he's the only primary big sub for Dedric and Doke. I hope we can get him 12-15 minutes a night consistently because he'll produce

I'm expecting 20 minutes a night from Silvio. He KU gets the shaft and he can't play that changes my projections big time.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 18, 2018 02:24 PM

@jayballer73 KU is currently Stanley's only scheduled OV. I would think he visits Oregon too though.

All 5 of our starters will average double figures, and two reserves will avg double figures as well.

Lol, calm down. This won't happen. Even 08 only had 4 guys in double figures.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 02:22 PM

@joeloveshawks I get where you are coming from on it but it's already 45 points a night from the front court, counting KJ as a front court player. Even on Self's deepest front court teams like the JR Morris Twins team or the Cole and SO Morris twins team the front court scoring has only been in the high 30s.

For Doke to average 4 more points they have to come away from someone else. I think with more depth and post options Udoka could be better overall but still score less than last year.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 02:05 PM

These were mine that I posted in another thread. I think the overall average might be a bit high though...

Dedric 17

Grimes 12

Doke 10

Vick 9

KJ 9

Dotson 7

Silvio 7

Moore 6

Garrett 5

2019 Recruiting • Sep 18, 2018 01:43 PM

@BeddieKU23 Agree. They were in the mix for Boogie Ellis too but they have loaded up. I don't think Ellis is even going to visit USC. Hopefully Oregon can get Ellis.

@BShark So, it appears that, between Braun and Williamson, we took the first one to commit? At that point, Williamson then went to LVille?

I am not so sure. I think I've heard the same rumor @FarmerJayhawk was talking about earlier. If it's true, the staff wanted Braun anyway, as a long term player that probably won't get minutes next season but can develop. And look for KU to make a big push for Cassius Stanley.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 11:52 AM

@BeddieKU23 I think he ends up being the 2nd leading scorer and a general stat sheet stuffer. That should be good enough for first team if it happens.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 18, 2018 03:20 AM

Louisville, Arizona and USC all cruisin. It's almost like the FBI thing didn't matter at all. Lol.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 03:20 AM

@justanotherfan Yep. You can only win so much with a bag full of rocks.

And now Lon is going to have to start two grad transfers, including one who is on his third team now, and wasn't really doing well in the A-10.

Realistically Lon needs a big class this year too. They currently have one solid player committed that should be the cornerstone of this class but there is a lot more work to be done there.

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 17, 2018 11:41 PM

I will be very impressed if KU beats Baylor.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 17, 2018 11:41 PM

For those that care about the rest of the league: KSU could get a commitment from DJ Thorpe. A 3-4* C out of Austin, Texas. A nice player and he would be a great signing for just about any team in the league outside of KU. SMU is the other player for him.

Also, the Big 12 is the first league that has every team with a player committed for 2019 with Braun popping for KU. Meaningless but kinda cool.

Watching both of them there are definitely merits to Braun over Williamson. This isn't so clear cut as Williamson is ranked x spots higher. Braun could develop into a nice player. He is a wing with PG skills. Wasn't a KU level guy as a PG but as a wing that changes a lot.

If Missouri didn't have a scholarship for him, Arizona probably didn't either. They probably passed but schools never put that out there. Like when KU moved on from Jacobs, they let him say he was de-committing and re-opening his recruitment.

I could list tons more examples of guys that reported a KU offer but couldn't commit. Rafus ended up at Eastern Michigan btw.
