Someone got lied to, WHAT FUN.
@mayjay Ah I knew nothing about the site, but figured it was fishy just based on that one article.
That part about the NWO really kills any integrity it might have had.
Blame Nike. Honestly since he was never coming to KU, I'm glad he cut KU now. Let's go get BOTH Zions!!! :exclamation:
RJ BARRETT HAS CUT KU.
2020 PG Bryce Thompson coming to KU for an unofficial tomorrow. Dad played for Self at Tulsa.
@Crimsonorblue22 :joy:
Also yeah, some sour grapes at the end there. This kid has a lot of talent and ability.
@brooksmd Not my words please keep that in mind.

Looks like he is visiting new Orleans soon. I don't think he's coming here.
I posted some crazy stuff I read re: Robinson in the recruiting thread.
This is from a WKU person that posted on the phog. So, tfwiw but if true...
"Stansbury recruited Robinson when Stansbury was an assistant at Texas A&M. Stansbury went to WKU as head coach and he re-recruited Robinson. Stansbury also hired Shammond Williams (Robinson's Godfather) as an assistant coach. Turns out that was a mistake. SW while on staff was trying to get Robinson to go to China and play pro with SW being his agent. Stansbury found out and that is why SW resigned. By then all the talk in Robinson's ear by SW, made Robinson bolt. Huge mistake on Robinson's part. All he had to do was play one season at WKU and his future should have been secured. As for playing at WKU, with Robinson, WKU had the 8th ranked recruiting class in the nation and that did not count a couple of 4 star players that sat out last year. Anybody that is a long time basketball fan knows that WKU has a long tradition with basketball. WKU is working to get back some of that tradition.
Keep in mind that Robinson is very raw. He did not start playing basketball until his sophomore year. Talk was he did not like getting banged around in practice by bigger stronger players. That is something he is going to have to get used to if he expects to make it at the professional level. Kid actually seems to be a good kid, but was getting bad advice. His mother was pushing him to stay at WKU."
Recruiting is a helluva drug.
Also people very tied in to KU were convinced this was done and he said he would come to KU. Soooooooo I mean, I suppose like I said nothing should surprise with a kid that just abruptly left the campus of WKU w/o telling anyone.

It could be Tulane...if he is considering Tulane or New Orleans, then he is wanting a place where he will be the star and have guaranteed playing time, something he will not get at KU. If that is his attitude, and I am not saying it is, just thinking aloud...does KU really want him?
It's been confirmed that it's UNO he is visiting.
@Kcmatt7 :thumbsup:
@jayballer54 Chalmette is closer to New Orleans than I am to Topeka, and I have a Topeka phone number. Just for some perspective. He could have walked there if he wanted, lol.

this is funny now
Yeah, what a mess.
Well then, this is something with Robinson. Guess nothing should come as a surprise at this point...
Whatever happens, taking Robinson is better than an open spot on the roster.

But now if we assume correctly that he's about to make the decision he wants to make and that isn't what others around him want then the situation is really not settled even if he comes here. How likely is it that the kid is going to shut those people out for good?
It's going to be very difficult. If anyone has the panache it's a coach like Self. Would also apply to Miller, Cal, K or Roy. I think it's good that he is ending up at a blue blood with a big time coach.

@jayballer54 Does anyone know why his godfather resigned? That was before Robinson started classes. The timing may hurt his family-ties argument.
Some kind of cleaning house according to WKU people. He wasn't the only assistant that left.
It's people beyond the parents sometimes unfortunately. Especially if the kid comes from a poor background. AAU is EXPENSIVE so sometimes a handler covers the cost for, you know, reciprocation later.
Should be today. I think a lot of the delay is his circle being unhappy with him committing to play a year for Self/KU and it seeming unlikely that it will be this year.
Just pass the time by watching his highlights. If he plays next year Dedric + Robinson is the best starting front court in the country PERIOD.
Kid wants KU bad, but KU has to reciprocate and show he is really needed.
It's his circle that pushed him to WKU, which he hated. It's a difficult situation here. Recruiting is often messy and usually it never comes to the surface. When Slater posts who is running a recruitment, I tend to believe him.

@dylans I think they are waiting on what the NCAA says whether he is eligible or not. This kid's ego is not going to allow him to sit on the bench for a year waiting to be eligible, imo. He is already being listed in mock drafts as a top 15 pick. i expect if he isn't eligible, he won't go to college at all.
From what I understand it's done to KU. He's getting backlash from his circle who wants him in the NBA next year no matter what.
Oh and Devon Dotson news... Up to top 20 (and 5 stars) on 247. Doesn't change how he is as a player, but a deserved bump imo.
So your saying it's a no go for KU right? - -If that is the case it rally doesn't surprise me. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
He will announce for KU. Today or tomorrow. Likely today.

Dotson really upped his game this summer. There are a ton of similarities between his game and some former and current hawks!
He's got a lot of BIFM in his game.

He should announce for KU pretty soon but yeah whether he ever plays a game or not is up for debate. I sure hope he does.
I don't think he wants KU so bad that he would hold off on committing from ISU if KU plays it too slow. You never know though. I think he'd be a great get.
And I mean.....
"After I take my officials, if one of the schools that I’ve already got my eye on, if they basically show me that I’m a bigger priority than what they’re saying then I’m going to make my decision toward the end of September or start of October, one of those."
Come on...
Another thing is, I think ideally he is a take along with Williamson or Barrett. However...to get Williamson his friend may have to be a take...
IF KU turns up the heat I think he's a Jayhawk. However is Self going to take him before Barrett and King Zion Williamson announce?
If you are referencing the article I think you are he called KU a dream come true...
BayLOL
Except it's not funny, it's sad.
@Kcmatt7 Noticed that the other day. Can't be a bad thing...
Soon.
The big 12 is basically the wcc. #elpoyotakes
@KUSTEVE I really like how much he likes being a Jayhawk.
Oh and when I say exploded I mean he went from fringe top 200/unranked to TOP 75. Kid can hoop. ISU fans are rightfully a bit upset that KU might steal him. They even hope we land Barrett or Williamson instead. :joy:
Here is some Griffin for your viewing pleasure.

Wish I cou ld read it, Saw it - but it's insider oh well - -w know how well we did lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
For the longest time I for some reason had insider for free. I think it was tied to a magazine sub that I cancelled but kept getting. Sadly they finally caught on or I would have c/p'd it here because while I respect most paywalls ESPN can get bent and insider is a joke.
It was kind of shocking that he cut Illinois. I think he wants Kansas. He has visits set to each school, KU is the last visit...
Zion Griffin will visit during Late Night. Kid exploded this summer. He is already down to 4 and imo it's us or ISU. HOWEVER he is a wing and obviously KU has a shot at Barrett and KING EMPEROR ZION WILLIAMSON. Soooo, will Griffin wait? Can he commit to KU today if he really wanted to? Tough questions that I don't know the answer to.
I really like his game though, and he'd be a 4 year player.
@jayballer54 Ok that's what I was thinking. LSU people have changed their minds as of yesterday. One LSU guy that works for ESPN saying that LSU is back in play for Robinson. Honestly who the hell knows, lol.
It's Randy Onwuasor btw. And yeah, Will Wade is rejuvenating their program. They might challenge for SEC #2 which is pretty much up for grabs.
@jayballer54 Article from today?

It's disappointing to see a former Top 50 player be with the program for over 7 months and provide little confidence that he can be anything more then the 9th man on this roster. That's where Cunliffe is at after Italy. No sugar coating, no excuses, he's last on the depth chart. I'm sure that is not where his father or where Sam wants to be. I'm sure that if he doesn't improve and find a way into the rotation Sam won't be here after this season. We see it all the time. Either Sam was just a good HS player and was over-hyped coming in or he's just taking a long time to adjust to the new situation and will stick it out where he is now.
Self is probably going to recruit over him, he might have already with KJ who has some skills that make him a good rotation piece either on the wing or in small-ball 4 lineups. The chance that Zion lands here or Vick returns as a Sr only put Sam even further down the road from a meaningful role here. He's going to have to show a lot in the next 4 months and 2nd half of the season
I would say it's pretty clear he was mis-evaluated. He wasn't good at ASU either. Some people wanted to cherry pick some stats, like his three point shooting. That doesn't work though, his total game matters. Now obviously he was on a bad team but still, he did not impress.
I was down on KJ too, but he has more to his game than Cunliffe. As well as a willingness to get dirty and bang around that I'm not sure Cunliffe has.
